Bobbi Brown, renowned beauty authority and author of two New York Times bestsellers, follows up with her most important book to date, Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution. A celebration of beauty across the generations, this positive-outlook guide for women of all ages reflects, as Bobbi says, "What happens to us as we make our way through life, and how we can continue making ourselves better." In Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution, Bobbi shares her candid views of her own beauty odyssey, as well as her formidable makeup expertise, to help women feel good about themselves at every age. Readers from their twenties to their seventies and beyond will experience a new appreciation of themselves through Bobbi's enriching book, and ultimately, even embrace -- yes, embrace -- the aging process. In the engaging, down-to-earth style that's pure Bobbi, she addresses the need-to-know issues we all face at one time or another -- from how to deal with changes in skin to what adjustments in makeup application are really necessary (and appropriate) as we age and everything in between. With more than 300 photographs specially commissioned for this book, Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution includes the personal, heartfelt thoughts of real women from all walks of life -- all ages (from 20 to 101!), shapes, sizes, and ethnicities -- reflecting on what beauty means to them. Their words serve to underscore Bobbi's message that true beauty isn't something you're blessed with -- "it comes from having confidence and feeling good about who you are."
In addition to running her company, Bobbi continues to pursue her craft by creating the runway looks for New York Fashion Week. A permanent fixture backstage, she works with the industry’s best designers including Rachel Roy, J. Mendel, Erin Fetherston, Tory Burch and Cynthia Rowley.
Bobbi often does how-to segments on The Today Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show, and her advice can be found in syndicated columns and advice features for magazines and websites around the globe.
Of course, you can always find Bobbi where she began—on the set. Bobbi is still the world's most celebrated makeup artists for personalities and fashion magazines.
A New York Times bestselling author, Bobbi has written five instructional and engaging beauty and lifestyle books: Bobbi Brown Beauty, Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty, Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution, Bobbi Brown Living Beauty and Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual.
For Bobbi, making other people's lives better simply makes sense. "I love helping others because it feels good," she says. On a year-round basis, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics donates generous financial and in-kind support to organizations including Dress for Success and the Jane Addams Vocational High School.
Bobbi Brown Beauty Evolution is an informative book concerning everything from skincare to makeup. It's easy to read and good instructions, especially nice with the tips for each decade of age groups. As the makeup application and skin changes as we grow older. It's definitely a good read for people in all age groups as it covers them, and in addition to people in all kinds of ethnicity
I really like Bobbi Brown! She gives it to you in simple terms and makes you proud to be a woman. She tells women to not focus on their flaws. love it!
This book has good tips... like always moisturize, sleep with a humidifier on (makes me realize I need a new one), and protect your eyes because they age the fastest. The book talks about hair removal and let's face it most women want this. I am currently trying laser hair removal. Now-a-days it's pretty affordable if you find a Groupon for it. In my experience it's not too painful and I tell them to turn the laser up high. I haven't been enough times yet to know whether or not it's going to work but I am really hoping it will. Plus you have to go BEFORE your hair turns white and becomes whiskers or the laser won't work at all. The make-up part in this book is kind of a repeat of the make-up pointers in the other book so nothing new to learn there. There is a section that focuses on beauty and cancer and this section is a wonderful piece.
Edit: The laser hair removal did not work. I'm just as hairy two years later if not more hairy! Damn hair genes.
I believe I’ve read this book three times now. Ms. Brown informs the reader how to care for and beautify your skin as you age. It’s interesting and easy to read, so I’ve read it in my 30”s, 40”s, and 50’s.
It's a cute book but i wouldn't overly recommend it. The best thing about the book are the beautiful pictures of real women that Bobbi Brown has made over. Otherwise the advice in the book is too shallow for me to draw any real lessons or inspiration from it. Often the directions are unclear, there are no pictures to tell you where exactly to place the makeup. Also she constantly repeats herself, yes we know moisturizer and SPF is a must and ok concealer should be yellowish and also is the most important make up item. This book is not made for reading from beginning to end but more to pick up if you need a little inspiration, even though it doesn't offer much of that either.
There were some decent tips in here as well as some sweet stories. I read it almost two decades after it came out so some of the makeup styles are a little outdated. I didn’t gain a ton of practical tips, but learned a lot of big picture philosophies for makeup. The book is well laid out so it’s easy to reference.
I’m not sure if this type of book is necessary... But I don’t know where else you’d find -in hard copy- a guide to appreciating your own unique beauty at any age while gathering tips on how to up your practical modern beauty game skills. So yes, I guess it’s necessary and I liked it.
I watched Bobbi Brown's Master Class and remembered I had read both Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty and Beauty Evolution. Both are expertly written and photographed with a good mix of how to and inspirational talk of acceptance. This one highlights how beauty evolves with age and how we need to evolve with skin care and makeup.
Beauty at every age, with grace and joy. Bobbi walks you through changes and celebrates each stage of life. It’s about enhancing your look while embracing who you are today—and it feels like a warm hug with a makeup brush.
This was a fast easy read. It's super super basic but I enjoyed that she had chapters on pregnancy, different ethnicities, cancer and men. The age thing- to me makeup is more about skin type not age. That is way to general. It was good but nothing enlightening.
Focuses on beauty from age 20 to 70+, with a chapter on each age range mentioning the changes and possible concerns you might have during that time. It also covers photo retouching, having a healthy lifestyle, pregnancy, cancer, etc. This is her third book and it is definitely more glossy and visually appealing than the other two. Makeup directions are clear, with a few visual aids. Again, no specific product recs. I really enjoyed this book. Great overall info (different info than her previous books but still has her overall philosophy). I liked that she showed pictures of gorgeous older women, with makeup and without. Shows a very positive attitude toward aging, which isn't commonly seen in the US.
This is an excellent follow-up to Bobbi Brown Beauty. Here, the make-up artist deals with specific skin and make-up needs for various ages, as well as additional advice on make-up for special occasions.
I thought this book was about makeup tips and I was wrong, it is a book basically saying if you ugly get over it and deal with it lol, well naw it is just saying everyone is beatiful in there own way
Simple, logical, we all know this. However, there is something about the beautiful photography and the simple way she enhances beauty with her products.
