Bradan Reid will capture your heart and leave you breathless! He moved to Seattle to escape heartbreak. Bradan finds his life changes when he meets the one woman he wants in his bed, and in his life. In this steamy new adult steamy, the secret Cami Joubert holds will either destroy their love, or save it. Can he rescue her in time?

This sensual romance (Sexy & Dangerous Book 1) can be read as a standalone novel, but you will want to read all 4 in the series. You will be swept up in this roller-coaster relationship. Camille moved to Seattle to leave the pain of her past behind. She finds more trouble than she can handle in Bradan Reid, who seems to be with a different woman every night. Cami knows he is a bad choice, but is unable to walk away. She’s trying so hard to “not do stuff that’s bad for her,” but her attraction to Bradan is too strong.

“Their eyes met and electricity went through Cami’s petite frame like a lightning bolt. His thick brown hair was etched with blond sun streaks, gleaming beneath one of the few spotlights in the room. His blue eyes captivated her. But it was his body that made her swoon. If he’d worn a blazer, it was off now. He had only a soft, pale shirt with several buttons open, and the cloth settled over his hard body. The gorgeous man was solid sculpted muscle, which couldn’t be missed even under the casual shirt. With his thighs, shapely under the dark pants he wore, and the way he leaned back with his legs apart, Cami couldn’t take her eyes off of him.”

Will Cami tell him the truth?

This book sucked monkey balls.

I hate giving bad reviews. I truly do, but this book was a train wreck. It had zero backbone in terms of an interesting storyline. Cami's feelings were so hot and cold from one paragraph to the next that she should have been diagnosed bipolar. And Braden? Nothing alpha about him. Just a hot guy who's a player. If it were not for my OCD to finish a book I would have given up halfway through. Even though it only cost me a $.99 I wanted my money back and this piece of crap gone from my Kindle.

I don't know who was more shattered while reading just over half of this book, myself or the characters.

Clearly I'm in the minority so take what you will (or won't) from this review.

Cami. I just couldn't get into her but I tried. Emotionally she was all over the place, she frustrated me no end. She wanted Bradan but then she didn't, then she did, then she didn't and when Bradan seemingly acted like the player he was she went to some place I couldn't understand...hell I got whiplash from this woman. At some point I was hoping to see her grow a backbone I mean a real backbone but no matter what he did, she simply caved and fell into his arms without too much work required on his part, it was torturous. Me and these weak oscillating female characters have nothing in common - at all.

Bradan on the other hand while I didn't like his actions I could understand why he was the way he was.

There's some cooking theme going on in this book not that I paid that much attention I skimmed those but when Cami yet again did another about face I shot to the end for her big reveal but it just fell flat and I couldn't be bothered going back to recommence the read. Enough was enough.

Explicit sex scenes.

“Perfectly Shattered” is the story of Cami and Braden. Cami is an avid cook and works for a catering firm. She meets Braden at an event. Cami portrays him as a messed up bad boy because he has noncommittal sex with different women and drinks a lot of whiskey but he looks good, works out at the gym, has a good job and earns enough money. He is a web programmer at a firm, looks for work experience and wants to found his own company one day. At first, Cami tries to resist him but their attraction is to strong. Both can´t be without the other but they have to face their experiences in the past.

By the time I´m ready to dismiss environmental descriptions in romance novels because I admit that they are unnecessary for this kind of genre, I find a romance novel with environmental descriptions. “Perfectly Shattered” is full of descriptions about Cami´s surroundings. The book uses some clichés to tell the story but handles them well. I really liked the story´s time frame and Cami´s independent life from Braden.

The whole book is written in a third-person narrative with alternate focus on both perspectives. Normally romance novels are written in first-person perspectives, either in the one perspective for the whole book or with alternations in perspectives, I don’t have a preference. I need a common reading fluency, a connection to story and characters and preferably a transportation of the character´s emotions. Trent provides the reading fluency and a light connection to one of her characters but unfortunately, she doesn’t transport her character´s emotions. For some reason I connected more with Braden than with Cami.
His point of view is more reflective, more concentrated on his emotions, less on his thoughts and the environment. Braden is different from the alphas I used to know from other books. He hasn’t the same background and is less protective and possessive. Most alphas in other books attended some Ivy League colleges, are CEO´s of their own firm, billionaires who live in an expensive pent house. Braden attended a community college, lives in a rented apartment and is an employee of his firm. I really liked the differences and appreciated that Braden doesn’t become a CEO and billionaire during the story. It is real and honest because not all alphas – I hate that word by the way – are rich and independent.

I have problems to connect, feel and understand what Cami goes through. Actually, I felt sometimes annoyed by her perspective. I have my problems with Cami for two reasons. First, she is a type of woman I can´t stand. She is – in my opinion for no reason - very judgmental about Braden´s lifestyle and doesn’t say what she wants but complains afterwards about the consequences. But mostly I think I don’t connect with her because of the narrative method. Cami describes very detailed her thoughts and her environment but rarely her emotions or body reactions. With the lack of a deeper description of her emotions, some of the narrator´s conclusions aren’t comprehensible for the reader and I really missed that.

WOW! Emily once again blew me away with yet another romance that pulled every emotion from my soul! Cami and Bradan are both damaged in the love department and try to resist one another in this beautifully written love story. Broken hearts, guilt and fear keep these two lovebirds from really letting go and finding true happiness. Emily was quite the talent to transport you into every story she writes. Bradan well known playboy and (not quite) Happy with that status is driven and passionate, Cami is an up and coming foodie/ chef that came to Seattle to start a new uncomplicated life and to escape the heartache of her hometown. Love once again conquers but it is very difficult to fully give yourself to another when the heart is still consumed by the past. Read Bradan and Camis' story and take a tour of Seattle that will leave you wanting to call the travel agent and book a vacation!!! LOVE This series and can not wait for more

You know its love when you spill food over the guy your crushing over but then you find out that said guy is a hot but drunk womanizer it makes you think twice about things. Bradan Reid moved to Seattle to not only jump start his career but to run away from the woman that broke his heart and ever since then he went from woman to woman thinking that would protect his heart from getting heart again. Cami Joubert suffered to devastating loses and also moved to Seattle to jump start her career as chef. The seem to keep being at the same at the same time. They tentatively start a no strings attached casual relationship which it immediately turns into something more. How Cami thought she could resist Bradan made me want to shake her. I mean seriously you have everything you ever wanted in man standing in front of you, why would you run away from that. The chemistry was both beautiful and heart breaking. Together Cami was able to stop denying her fault in a terrible tragedy deny what she felt all along and Bradan was finally to let the hurt of his past heal and finally put away his womanizing ways for good. No longer running away but towards each other. No longer shattered but forever bonded.

I was given this complimentary book by the author for an honest review. This is another great book in the series by Emily. Both Bradan and Cami are broken, they have experienced love and loss and both are not looking for it. Bradan's comfort is being a player so he doesn't have to get close, he's hot and a loveable player. But when he meets Cami both cannot deny the attraction. But with Cami everything feels different, there's a connection and something special. Cami is reluctant as she doesn't want to love again, but Bradan challenges Cami and dares her not to fall for him, but her plan backfires. Feelings grow deeper but can their pasts and fears stop them from being together. This book is an emotional rollercoaster and Bradan is the most loveable player, this book will leave you Perfectly Shattered. A great read.

I love this book.. Braden has been hurt and then comes Cami. The instant attraction they have for each other is insane. But they both have issues with there past They are so good together and you want to root for them, but it just seems the past always comes back to haunt them. I think Cami has it hard and without giving anything way, really needs to let go of what happened, and let love back into her heart. I loved this book and could not put it down, another amazing read by Emily Jane Trent.

I was not very impressed with any of the characters. They seemed a little too desperate and depressing for me. Bradan went from player to needy in no time flat. Cami was stuck on permanent whine mode and was way too high maintenance.

The whole theme of the story can be summed up in one sentence.

"Oh no I might have feelings, I am so scared; he just talked to another woman, I should runaway and cry now."

I just did not connect with this book or the characters at all-one of those books that I kept reading just to be done with. Braden was a first-class asshole and Cami went between "he's the one for me" to "I never want to see him again" and "I can't be in a relationship with anyone" to "I love him and am moving in with him" just a little too quickly. They also appear to both be alcoholics yet their drinking problems are completely just brushed off.

Just a little nutty

I really enjoyed this story. It touched on a darker subject but I felt that the humor that was added help it not be a completely depressing read.

Just not for me

Cami has a broken heart that she believes will never be fixed.
Brandan was left heat broken by his first "love " and childhood sweetheart so has turned in to a player.
When they meet the air sizzles but is attraction enough for them both to overcome their past?

I hate writing anything negative because it has taken the author months/ years to put their heart and sole down in a book but I didn't connect with the characters or the writing style at all. There was too much description into things like the food they were eating or the attractions they were visiting. I did finish the book tho.

I did finish the book although I got tired of the characters. I liked the beginning and thought it had promise. I had just finished reading my first romance novel. This was on my Kindle, so I decided to try another. I think the characters had promise, but I got weary that they continually chose to contemplate their failings and, even though seemingly smart, do not communicate how they feel and what they really think. So much of the novel is centered on what the characters lacked that I missed taking them to more depth. The sex was hot and lovely, but not enough to carry the weight of the whole book.

This book read like Fatal Attraction meets Food and Wine magazine meets the Seattle Times entertainment section. The details about what movies Cami likes, how to make espresso, what she is eating (down to the last seasoning) were an obvious self-indulgence by the author and did nothing for the story. While Seattle is a beautiful place, the constant description of the water and sunsets and scenery felt like fluff versus scene-setting. And to top it off, we're left with a heroine who falls into "like" instantly with a guy she doesn't know, and battles Glenn Close for the ultimate headcase award.

I felt like the author was either trying to persuade the reader to move to Seattle or convince us of her culinary skills, instead of providing us with a heroine who was likable. We were stuck with Cami, a girl who is supposedly in her 20s but has the emotional maturity of a fourteen-year-old and shows no growth during the book. She's instantly attracted to Bradan, our hero, which is believable. But this quickly turns into loving him and, in my eyes, obssession as she contemplates "ending it all" after seeing him on the street with another woman. Over and over, Cami vacillates between liking him so much to being okay with no commitments to being insanely jealous/suicidal over seeing him with other women. In one scene, she goads him into jealousy then becomes upset when he doesn't react; I remember feeling that way IN HIGHSCHOOL. If she's not kicking his ankles or punching his arm for attention, then she's brooding over what other women he may be seeing (but never "dares to ask" him, like an adult).

Besides an immature leading lady, the book was inconsistent. Cami states she needs jobs from her catering company for income, but the minute Bradan wants to spend the weekend together she ditches her work for him. The most glaring for me was Cami's problem with alcohol. She drinks in excess to help with the pain the first time Bradan hurts her, but quickly afterward she tells her friends to take her wine away so that she doesn't get like before (indicating she has previously used alcohol as a crutch). Then in the next scene she's casually having wine with Bradan! Later, she takes a medication to aid in her depression and her doctor specifically says "no alcohol," but as soon Bradan enters the scene she's drinking again! She specifically tells him at one point, it "took all of my strength to get off the wine" and literally two pages later she's drinking with Bradan. Either she has a problem or this is a horribly inconsiderate take on substance-abuse.

Cami's secret, which comes to light at the very end of the book, wasn't worth the effort I made to skim the last 45% of the book to find it. Bradan comes off as a typical mid-20s jerk who makes a change for the better, but unfortunately Cami's character couldn't follow suit. The only redeeming quality and the reason for 2-stars instead of one is that the author seems to have some talent for writing/editing. A little more work on character development and a little less self-indulgence with pointless details, and I would give her a try again.

Loved it!
Cami has moved to Seattle to escape her past. She also has amazing culinary skills and food is her passion and she puts all of her focus into food- (I loved how food was incorporated in this book btw). Then she meets Braden. She knows he has the ability to break her heart. He's a player and Cami can't resist him when he's near her. They start out as friends, but Cami knows she wants more from him. Cami and Braden both have pasts where love resulted in a broken heart- for different reasons. Braden has reasons he cannot commit to one woman and Cami's past is the reason she's afraid to give her heart to Braden. We know that Cami has gone through something terrible and caused her to rely on alcohol to cope, but she is in a good place now. She must confront her past and let Braden be there for her and love her.
When Cami's secret is revealed, I was surprised. Overall, she seems like she pretty put together. She puts all her energy into her job, which makes her happy and she's made a great friend, Brittany. But in order to have a relationship with Braden or anyone else, she will have to let go of the past and confront it, instead of keeping it hidden deep within her.

"Perfectly Shattered" had a great blend of emotion, steamy scenes, and true romance. I loved Braden more and more as the book progressed. When he is forced to confront his past, I think he handles it very well. There were so many sweet moments between these two and although their relationship started out as just a physical one, it was great seeing them become friends first. The pace of this story was well done and it never felt rushed and when it ended, I wished it hadn't - I just loved Braden and Cami together!- 4.5 stars... Loved it!

Perfectly loved it! Two young adults, each searching for a new beginning and running from the pain of their pasts.

Amusing at times, gut-wrenching and honest ... you feel the pain each of our main characters feel. Cami is trying to start anew and re-build her life. For someone so young, she has already experienced so much traumatic loss and she no longer feels strong enough to deal with that level of emotion and anxiety. In an era when we are used to a strong female lead, Cami comes through as brittle, fragile and somewhat lost. She is trying to keep things from spinning off her control and feels very uncomfortable falling in love with anyone at this time. And then Gradan enters her life.

Gradan is your typical alpha player. A different woman every night, whiskey to drown in, dreams of making it big in the tech industry. Behind this bravado exterior, he is also trying to soothe his heart from the break-up of all times. This new life suits him, he thinks, because he has freedom, women swoon at his feet, and he has no feelings for anyone of them that can bring him complications.

Drunk on whiskey and glazed scallops adorning his pants, he is mesmerized with Cami the first time they see each other. The feeling is mutual! Our story grows from there as our characters learn to deal with each other as well as all the confusion they are feeling.

Emily Jane Trent is giving us another jewel from her magic pen. These flawed characters grow and change as they accept the inevitable. She gives us enough plot twists here to keep us on the edge of our seats until the end.

When two strangers paths meet and they figure out they have both built walls around there broken hearts can there interest's in each other survive the heart break they both endured and make them see that LOVE can survive a Shattered Heart ?

Camille Joubert has a secret that she has hidden from everyone including her family and has escaped to Seattle to build a new life for herself with her only interest set on her food career. But what she didn't expect was to bump into Braden Reid..Sean's Brothers..one night at a party, then the next day on a food tour and so on and so on. But Braden has a different girl on his arm every night !! That is not something that Cami wants or needs in her life right now. She tries to ignore the pull they both feel for one another but can they both give there hearts away to just ONE individual or will there past cloud there judgement and they move on.....

The suspense in this book was gripping....waiting to turn to the next page after page to see if they can repair there Shattered Hearts !! This story made me laugh and of course a great story make you cry at times too and this book had it BOTH !! Makes you think that true love can survive if you help it along !! Emotions are the key to happiness !!

LOVED IT !! Emily out did herself AGAIN !! Can't wait for more from these 4 friends !!

~I was given a complimentary copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.~

Perfectly Shattered was the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. This is the story between Bradon Reid and Camille "Cami" Joubert. Their first meeting is unforgettable for both of them after she drops a tray of food in his lap...fireworks erupt immediately. Both avoid emotional entanglements. And, Bradon is the ultimate player with a new woman in his bed almost every night. However, the more they try to deny their feelings, the more connection they feel. Of course, they eventually give into their desires and what happens should come with a warning label. Just having sex begins to not be enough, and Bradon wants to actually try to have a relationship. But, it will not be smooth sailing. As always, there are secrets that when they are revealed, may completely destroy them.

I have been a fan of Emily's for quite a while now. She never fails to impress me. This woman knows how to write a love scene!!! But, this book isn't just about the sex. It's about forgiveness, letting go of the past, and trusting that the person to whom you have your heart will be there with you no matter what! It has been a pleasure to see Emily grow as a writer with each book she writes. I am anxiously awaiting the next one in the series.

I can't even give it a star...

First off I want to say that I am a reader. I love nothing more than getting lost in a story and escaping the real world for a while. I read anything, cereal boxes, magazines, books from history to hot, steamy erotica. I've suffered through mediocre writing, even reading the whole mediocre series just so I know what happens...until this book. I just can't. the characters aren't appealing, the plot is non-exsistent and even the "steamy sex scene" that I did make it to was uncomfortable and awkward. I've read other work from this author before and was surprised by the tone of this book. (honestly, if there were negative stars I'd award them here!). Cami (even the name makes me shake my head) and Bradan really needed to be likeable in this book and when neither main character is able to elicit emotional attachment with the reader (let alone each other), the story just doesn't work.

IMHO you're better off reading that cereal box!

Cami and Bradan are two souls suffering from heartache and lose. After meeting in the most unexpected way they can't seem to get enough of each other. Things heat up every time they are near each other. At first Bradan's very arrogant and too full of himself, but Cami really knows how to handle that entire ego.

I found this book to be very visual, for me. It was all about the little things the author did to bring the scene into view in my mind. I loved the way that both characters had flaws and they are able to deal with them together.

The arguments between the characters were hilarious to read. Between the chemistry of these two characters and the sex scenes it made for a very interesting read.

I definitely recommend reading this book can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Free download. This starts with Cami, a girl who recently moved to Seattle for a fresh start. After dealing with a tragedy and it's after effects she feels she can deal better in a new place, working for a catering company as it's chef she literally comes face to face with Braden, at first glance a womanising, arrogant drinker, but they have something that only intensifies. Unfortunately both have issues but can they resolve them or risk not seeing what's infront of them both. I enjoyed the story and the plot was good, Cami was a strong in dependant woman but then seemed to regress into a self loathing person. Braden is hot, and the sex scenes are hot although I found the dialogue a little unrealistic and the wording a bit wooden. It can be read as a standalone.

I went back and took a star away. Because at the end of the book I see this blurb advertisement for the Perfect Imperfection series and it stated that it was about four Alpha males who risk it all for their women. Um no, Bradan isn't an alpha male and I don't think he risked anything for Cami unless you count he risked his high risk rating for STDs. NOTE: do not call a man an alpha guy unless he is.

While I enjoyed this book, I'm not precisely to the point of enjoyment where I'd be itching to get the next book in the series if their story were to continue on. The characters are alright, but I didn't love them. Too many hangups on what could have been potentially minor setbacks. Cami's was more serious but I feel hers stemmed more for how her situation was handled immediately after.

Emily Trent has quickly become one of my favorite writers.
With this book we are introduced to Cami and Bradan, who are both damaged when it comes to love. Past heartbreak, and guilt, keeps finding a way in between these two. Bradan is the ultimate playboy, and you can’t help but love and hate him. He’s happy playing that role, until Cami comes along. Even though Cami can’t resist him, what will Bradan say when she tells him her secret and the reason she is resisting love.

Emily also links Bradan to Sean, a character from another book in the series, Perfectly Flawed.

Great job Emily!

Bradan is the player that you love to hate with a new woman every night and avoiding all commitments. Then one day he crosses paths with Cami, a woman who doesn't fall for his lines and pushes all his buttons. Of course, Bradan has had his heart crushed so can he change his player ways for Cami? Cami is strong and independent but underneath everything lurks incredible pain, something she never talks about. Can Bradan crack through her walls to help her heal? Or will she walk away from the love of her life? Another wonderful romance from Emily Jane Trent.
