Becca Campbell has outdone herself with the fabulous Flawed Series and Outsider, Book II, just keeps me craving more. If you love to get lost in magical realism, where the characters tug at your heartstrings and you feel their pain, you will want these books on your reading list.

All his life, Josh felt like an Outsider.

Why were Josh’s family and friends empowered with supernatural abilities and not him? As many supernatural books as I have read, I think he is being saved for something special. A

What a brilliant progression for the series

First of all a huge hug and thanks to the author for giving me such a wonderful Christmas present because coincidentally or not, I was provided with an ARC copy of the book right around Christmas making it even more sweeter

Outsider is a terrific progression from empath, the first book in the series

To be honest, reading the synopsis, I thought that the book would be all whining and ramblings of a teenager stuck without power in a group filled with am

I really enjoyed, Empath, the first book in this series, and Pulled, the shorter story about a side character, so I knew I’d enjoy Outsider.

Josh feels like an outsider. His friends and sibling have special abilities, but so far, he has none.

Hiding behind his shyness and low self-confidence, he just knows he’s meant to be special, but nothing has changed. Now out of college, he waits, hoping his ability will appear, hoping to be special like all the others.

Things do change when Alex moves in with

Outsider (Flawed, #2) by Becca J. Campbell

All of Josh's friends and family have super powers, he feels less than perfect. When a psychopath tries to kill Josh's friends he wants to help in some way. Then he meets Alex, she is grateful for the new friends she has met, especially Josh.

Soon Nic, a young man with amazing abilities who is used to always getting what he wants has an encounter with Alex. But Alex gets in his way, and he loses his superpowers. He wants revenge against her for "disabling

Thoughts: I am enjoying this series. I’m still hoping that something comes along to explain why it is that some people are born with powers while others get them after a somewhat traumatic event or accident. Plus, they are somehow secret, there’s nothing on news or even rumors around school. Granted if I had powers or witnessed someone who had them I wouldn’t talk about it either but I

I had the chance to get an ARC copy of this book. What I like in general with Indie authors is that the next book is always better than the previous one, but I think with this one Becca Campbell really set the task really high for herself.

I already loved the previous book in the series, but Outsider was so much better.

I think it was a lot easier for me to relate with the main character, Josh. I already liked him from the previous novel and thought that he would have been a better match for Jad

The author provided a copy of the eBook in exchange for an honest review.

Outsider is Becca J. Campbell’s sequel to Empath. The author has once again written an original new adult/young adult paranormal novel. Outsider has many complicated layers and as the story cleverly unfolds the reader will be shocked by the many revelations—a new twist on good versus evil.

Campbell’s has woven two parallel stories. The vial Nicodemus is plotting vengeance. His controlling persona and Napoleon complex do not

I'm thoroughly enjoying Becca J. Campbell's Flawed Series. The plots are full of suspense and the way in which the characters are written so realistically is wonderful! I recommend these books to all ages and cannot wait for the third installment to be released. If you like books that keep you on your toes with a lot of relatable characters primed for action, then this is the series for you. ...more

Following on from the excellent Empath (book 1 in the Flawed series), this follows the character Josh. Taking a bit of a back seat in the first novel, we are quickly introduced to him here in the first chapter, in a humorous episode where he first meets Alex - a new character.
Josh differs from the others because he has no gift and feels 'outside' of the group and wonders if he will ever be noticed.
What follows is another great story involving people with abilities that can be seen as a blessing

Becca J. Campbell has delivered an original and refreshing blend of reality and fantasy at its best in 'Outsider', the 2nd book in the Flawed series. Highly emotional, with countless twists, it is an entertaining and supernatural storyline with good pacing and intriguing, relatable complex characters, good and not so good. These are young adults, who have different Talents. In other words, what can be termed as Special Abilities. The story relates their traits, growth and development seen as the ...more

My son (13) read and enjoyed the first book in this series. I would recommend reading Empath before this one, although you could start here - you'd just not have the background on the characters or the original plot thread. These opinions are my son's: Josh and Alex are well conceived characters with authentic personalities and reactions. Alex feels like a solid villain, the type you love to hate. The story is interesting with a peak towards the end that makes you want to pick up the next book. ...more

Eye to eye

This is the second book in a series. I have not read the first book. About some young adults who possess a talent. One talent is empathy, others are deja vu, extra strength, magic eyes and speed- running. In some of these talents a important occurrence like kidnapping or accident causes the talents to start.

**Won an ecopy in a contest, the review is my own personal feelings on this book. It is no way bought, or influenced by the Author in any way**

After reading Empath (Flawed #1), I jumped at the chance to win a copy of The Outsider. I needed to read more of the story! And Becca Campbell sure didn't disappoint with the 2nd installment of the Flawed Series.

This story follows other charcters that were introduced in Empath. We read more about Josh, Cam and Choloe's brother. We also meet some new chara

4 Stars!
Series: book 2: Flawed
Characters: Josh and Alex
Setting: modern day, Colorado and California
Mature Themes: violence & murder

Recommendation: The light romance and modern day story line is enjoyable to read and satisfied my paranormal want and my YA want. I'm not sure it was meant to be YA and the villains made it a bit too dark in my opinion, but it was good none the less. Outsider, is a wonderful continuation of the story started in

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Flawed series, and it started out a little differently. Instead of one of the Schuyler siblings that have their own special powers, it’s about Josh, the one sibling who was completely normal and a little introverted compared to his brother and sister. It was interesting to see how the others were viewed through his lens of “normalcy,” especially when he’d always felt a little left out.

I was given the ARC by the author for an honest review. Because of it being an ARC, I will not count into this review any of the editing errors that I did pick up. In fact, the story caught me up so firmly that I hardly noticed these oopsies.

About that story! Wow! Told from the viewpoints of the main character, Josh, and his female interest, Alex, and their nemesis, Nic who is out to kill Alex. I like that you can get into the heads of each of these people. Sure, one could guess at the insecurit

I received a copy from the author for an honest review. This is the second story in the Flawed Series.

It has been sometime since I read the first in the series of Campbell's books. I initially thought of rereading Empath, however did not. I wanted to see how easy the story and characters were to pick up. Consequently, I found it very straightforward, although I would recommend reading the bookies in order.

The story follows some of the other characters from book 1, Empath. We are introduced to Ch

It's been a while since I read Empath, so it took me a little while to get up to speed with who people were but it didn't take long for me to get caught up.

I loved the relationship between Alex and Josh, the way they both slowly realised they had growing feelings for each other, yet their self esteem issues mean that neither of them acted on those feelings.

The villain of the story Nic, for the most part was a petulant child prone to throwing tantrums when he didn't get his own way or when he f

This was all about Josh and his attraction to Alex and I absolutely loved it.

Reading the first book and the novella that followed I wont lie I didnt pay much attention to Josh's character in either of them.

But in this book, he is rather amazing. This author shows how he isnt the most handsome or muscled out guy, he doesnt have special gifts like everyone else in this group. Because of that he is the outsider!

He's alone and unsure where he really fits in.

Outsider is the second book of Becca Campbell's Flawed series. Where Jade was the main focus of the first book, Josh became the main focus of this book. I enjoyed gaining more understanding into Josh as well as watching him struggle wishing he could have "special powers" like his siblings and friends. I also found the character Alex entertaining and am glad she was brought into this series.

With the introduction of a new "bad guy" and weaving back in Ethan from the first book, I found myself on

Ethan now Nic very creepy. This series keeps getting better with every book and very suspenseful. Josh has been my favorite in this series so far with his quiet, shy nature. All he wants is to be special but what he doesn't realize is he is special just the way he is. Things change for him and he finally feels he has a purpose until he starts ousting those that he holds dear. Then when the unexpected happens and he is faced with cold hard reality he realizes all he wants is for his family and fr ...more

I received an ARC of this book. It is the second book in the Flawed series. Josh has always wanted to be special like his brother and sister. Instead he is normal. He is interested in Chloe's roommate, but she has an ability too. How can she be interested in somebody normal like him? Ethan is back from the first book. He teams up with Nic. Nic can make people do what he wants by looking them in the eyes. He tries it on Alex. Alex uses her running ability to get her phone back. When she sprays Ni ...more

After reading Becca J. Campbell’s Empath, I couldn’t wait to read the next book in the Flawed Series. I just finished Outsider and I was not disappointed. The second book was just as intriguing as the first book of the series. Loved this book and finished it in one sitting. I really liked Josh and could totally sympathize with him feeling like an outsider when everyone else has something you don't. I received a copy of this story from the author in exchange for a honest review.

This is book two in the Flawed series and it revolves around Josh Schuyler the quiet brother of Cam. During the story we get to see Josh become more vocal and stand up to protect the one(s) he loves. This book gives the readers a better look into the sibling dynamics of the Schuyler's while still relating it back to Jade and Logan from book one. Overall enjoyable read! (No spoilers from me)
