Promising Blurb, Disappointing Story

When I read the blurb for this story, I thought it would be right up my alley. I love dark stories and captivity themes are among my favorites. So, the story of a girl kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery sounded like a guaranteed dark success.

Unfortunately, this book fell flat for me. The characters seemed completely disconnected from the events taking place in the story. When they did have any type of reaction to the events transpire get, it was disproportionate and, at times, inappropriate for the situation.

For example, there is one scene where the heroine, "Silver", has supposedly just been brutally gang-raped and instead of the expected emotional turmoil and distress, she is savoring chocolate cake. Seriously? That scene was paired with the anecdotal comment that "chocolate fixes everything". Well, thanks for that pearl of wisdom, but I'm pretty certain that chocolate does not fix everything!

The detachment between the main characters emotions and the events taking place in the story made the entire story unbelievable. It just didn't ring true. Sometimes the emotions seemed rushed, or force-fed to the reader. Other times, the characters seemed to lack any of the expected, appropriate emotions for the given situation.

There were also a fair amount of grammatical mistakes in this book. If there hadn't been other issues with the execution of the plot, I could have overlooked this. However, as it is, the grammatical errors just proved to add more irritation.

Overall, I give this story 2 1/2 stars. The premise was promising, but the execution was lacking. The story was not as dark as I'd expected, with only a few "darkish" scenes. The characters were not compelling and failed to sell the story. Instead, the story comes across as unbelievable, and at times laughable.

For me, this book was mostly a muddled mess of awkward, forced, confusing, and dislikable plot and character points that just never fit together in an authentic way.

Writing

It could use and editor for the typos and missing words:

"Push the damn {blank} if you want to."

Book one of this duology is first-person, FMC's POV. It heavily relies on telling the plot through internal narrative.

I understand, given the plot setting, why so much is detailed through internal narrative, but the FMC's voice is very stiff and one-dimensional. The voice doesn't waver as switches take place through what should be calm, confused, angry, frustrated, confused, resound, etc. Flat affect.

There are some long and useless dream scenes that slow the pacing down, but the pacing and read time was otherwise fine.

Gist

Rose awakes from being drugged and kidnapped to a group of guys beating and sexually assaulting her.

The MMC, Kirk, steps in to save her by making her his sex slave/pet/ward.

She becomes Silver, Kirk's sex slave, and hopes it's enough to protect her from the other more cruel Masters.

The setting is a sex slave resort/community in the middle of nowhere. Highly secured and with no escape. It's basically a satellite compound which is part of a larger sex slave operation. Clients occupy the lower floors & the men who operate the business occupy the higher floors with their personal pets/sex slaves. Ross is in charge. Kirk is under him.

Fine enough concept but none of the details beyond that basic concept add up in a logical way.

The Plot Details

The inner workings of this sex slave building sound more like a circus.

The MMC pulls rank to take her from her original captor. Yet, a few chapters later the original captor and his crew attack the MMC in the building's elevator.

Why would her captor bring her to the surveillance room and involve her in business details?

The boss's wife and kids visit him at this sex slave resort/prison. Wtf?

Slavery and prostitution are A-Okay but an internal investigation is warranted and the big boss is needed over drugs being in the building. Wtf?

Sex slave traders/masters act like pubescent teens fighting over a slave. Mmkay?

The bosses assume the kidnapped newest addition who's been on lockdown is the rat responsible for the sudden presence of drugs and a raid? Did they think that she happened to have some drugs and a phone shoved in her ear canal when she was kidnapped?

Etc...

Character Reactions and Actions

Actions & reactions to scenes are detached and disconnected from what's happening, inappropriate at times, and completely foreign to what sanity would demand.

Her...

She questions why he (a sex slave Master) cares and states that he doesn't really care about her.

Fairness among sex slave Masters...

"It wasn't fair that he wanted me to bite my tongue but continually egged me on."

She (SEX SLAVE ) verbally provokes him with sass and being a smart ass and then turns around to beg him to keep her safe from the other worse men.

Her reaction to 20 lashes by Kirk... to being gang raped and beat the first time... to being gang raped and beat a second time... to Kirk's big secret.. To having having a dick orgy in her mouth.... Etc etc are all flat, nonchalant, and detached from what's happening.

The FMC could just as easily have been discussing the pros and cons of single vs double quilted toilet paper as she was being raped and beaten.

The beginning of "Initiation" where multiple people have a BJ orgy in her mouth is a perfect example of what I mean by her being detached, nonchalant, and inappropriate for the scene.

"I was actually quite thankful to be rid of the shoes. At least I wouldn't be ending the night with a broken ankle - I hoped.

As man after man shove dick down her throat, her mental narrative is still flat. No emotions. The biggest emotional rise we get from her during the orgy in her mouth is when another slave sucks Kirk's dick:

"Mother fucker"

I could understand some of the reactions if she had suffered PTSD, Stockholm, or was having some type of mental break. BUT SHE WASNT. She was lucid; dumb as fuck, but lucid nonetheless.

Her sex slave / sub capabilities for someone who's had 3 lackluster sexual partners is laughable. The furtherest Kirk goes in "training her" is some ass plugs. Yet, the FMC has zero panic or distress during the mouth orgy. She and another seasoned sex slave have their nipples and clit clamped up with chains. The FMC tolerates this better than the seasoned submissive. Give me a fucking break.

Him....

Kirk is master one moment - ass plugs, 20 lashes across her back, fucking her in public, leading her around on a leash, tying her up in a contraption to keep her sexually stimulated all through a public meal, allowing her to be used in the dick sucking orgy as he is getting his own BJ by someone else.

Kirk is a pansy lover the next - cooking, holding her, bathing her, birthday picnics, talking business in front of her, allowing her tempter/sass tantrums, slapping him unchecked, etc.

The stark contrast is understandable given the spoiler. But, here's the problem- he has no POV. So all the reader has to connect with him are his actions and dialogue, and those are done with the emotional awareness of smashing or saving a cockroach.

There's zero personality, zero connection, and zero respect for him as a master, savior, abuser, nor lover.

Don't read any further if you don't want SPOILERS !!!!

Spoilers

Kirk is FBI. He's been undercover to catch the big boss , err "Master." Sorry, but using 'he's the good guys' plot device as a redemption tactic for the reader - lame as fuck.

What "good guy" watches as all these men shove dick down her throat when he knows she was just gang raped a week ago and that she now knows he is FBI?

Greater good, or not...

Lay way dogs and pick up fleas, or not....

A man who's moral compass is still intact enough to want to bring the organization down would not watch as a woman, his woman, had a train run on her mouth to the degree she aspirated on various brands of cum.

Sex martyr. The fact she is willing to DO ANYTHING to bring down the sex ring is far fetched, but I'll buy it. What I won't buy is the absolute nonchalant way it unfolds and how afterward they joke about how awesome she is for doing it.

Kirk isn't worried about the fact that she's been raped & beat OVER AND OVER. No, he's worried she's taking Vicodin to escape rather than for pain. I. Can't. I. Just. Can't.

The shooting. Leaving witnesses. Uhm, oookay.

I'd love to know how FBI agent "Kirk" explained his participation with the sex slaves to the court? Lmao.

The End

The post-compound 'getting back to normal' was better in terms of being logical, but it still had a very flat affect. I didn't feel any love here. The shared bond? Yes. The love? No. The abstinence was a great idea, but it was just too little too late for me to give two shits about a HEA.

Readers who did enjoy the compound story, however, I guess will appreciate the months later ending.

Bottom Line

A noticed a lot of my GR friends who favor dark stories enjoyed this book. Sadly, I didn't.

I didn't believe or feel present for this story. Despite some graphic rape and assault scenes, overall, it felt more like nonsense strung together with hype words like sex slave and ass plug than a dark tale.

I didn't care about their plights because I couldn't understand nor connect with either as a humans. Neither seemed to give two fucks either way about what was happening... So why should I?

Triggers: FMC rape, sexual captivity, & physical assault.

I came across Irrevocable by Skye Callahan by chance when I saw a post about the dark, erotic romance on Facebook. After reading the blurb, I was instantly intrigued and basically dropped everything on my TBR list to read it. I was in the mood for a dark, gritty, and twisted romance and this book gave me everything I was hoping for and then some♥

Irrevocable starts off with Silver waking up in an unfamiliar place, disoriented, unable to remember the events from the night before, and surrounded by men who want her complete submission. With escape not an option, she has no choice but to do whatever it takes to survive. Survival means giving up her body, independence, and submitting herself completely to her new master, Kirk.

I really respected Silver's tenacity and strength of character. She fought hard to stay true to herself and refused to let circumstances define who she is or break her. Her journey is a difficult one and very emotional at times but she does everything in her power to survive and adapt.

I found myself struggling with my feelings for her master, Kirk, just as much as Silver did. There are times you will want to hate him because he comes across as cruel and uncaring but then he surprises you with these tender moments that give you hope that he has a small piece of humanity left in him.

I know that this review may come across as really vague but I really don't want to spoil any aspect of this story for you =) It is one of those books that you should go into relatively blind and experience for yourself. If anything, just read the author's warning to make sure that you can handle the topics covered in this story as some of those topics are not for the faint of heart.

I will say that Kirk & Silver's romance is dark, twisted, captivating, and will more than likely push your boundaries. Skye Callahan will have you eagerly turning pages so that you can see how their story unfolds <333

I love dark and twisty reads.. I love gritty.. everything about the blurb told me I would love this one. But.. NOPE. It ended up just being OK for me. I never felt any chemistry between Silver and Kirk and for the amount of holy shit crapness she went though I definitely needed some chemistry there to be able to get through some of that. Now I don't mind abuse in my reads or the elements of non-con, but some of this was just high on the "ewwww" factor . I don't know.. different time, maybe I could have go into this one more but it just didn't work for me. Oh well...

If there’s one thing I love, its a book that completely blows my mind. I like my books dark, twisty and with romance intertwined. And oh holy mother of everything, jesus, godammit - does Skye Callahan ever deliver all of the above with Irrevocable. From the very first page, we are thrust into the dark underworld of slavery, into a world where unthinkable acts are everyday occurrences. If you love reading about a fiercely strong heroine and a completely dominate male - then this is definitely a book you don’t want to miss. Like an addictive drug, this book sucked me in and made me its bitch. And I am not complaining one tiny bit.

When Silver first opens her eyes and takes in her surroundings - she’s shocked, panicked and terrified to find herself bound to a table in an unfamiliar room, with several strange men pawing at her. You can’t help but fall right into the book in this opening scene, Skye didn’t pull any punches - as soon as I read that paragraph...I was hooked. Irrevocable didn’t leave my hands again until I had consumed every last word.

What I loved about Silver was her inner passion, her fire. She’s been kidnapped, and although she is horrifically outnumbered, not only in strength but in the volume of men that have taken her - she still puts up one hell of a fight. Gabe, the devil incarnate that has taken her, was hell bent on making her his. He comes dangerously close to accomplishing this - but the men who are in charge of their establishment furiously disagree when they are informed of what he has done. They have a code of how girls are brought to their place of business and Gabe has broken all the rules by snatching Silver off the street.

Kirk..where do I even start. He first meets Silver when she is strapped down to a table being mauled. Immediately, he knows he wants her and demands that she become his slave. Having worked his way up to a prominent position in the organization - his request is granted. From here, she belongs to him and him only - he takes over as her “Master” and she has no choice but to bend to his wishes if she wants to survive. I couldn’t get enough of him in this book - the way he is confidently dominate, the way he oozes power and authority and my god, the way he was so deliciously sinful and sexy. I’d volunteer anyday to be his slave!

Skye did an outstanding job with this book, the way Silver discovered more and more of what her new life would entail, I felt like I was living it with her. Being forced to crawl, to be fed at a table...losing all dignity - it would shatter a person and there are moments when it’s almost too much for her to take. Kirk, although he is her Master, he is right there beside her through it all. Seeing glimpses of his protective nature had me cheering, but watching the two of them fight their undeniable chemistry was annoying as all hell! Silver’s will may begin to bend to Kirk - but she manages to cling to her spirit and not lose who she really is. Despite their better judgement, the two begin to fall in love. A risky emotion to have in a building full of masters and slaves…

At the hands of a sadistic boss and with the threat of an infuriated Gabe looming, what could possibly be the fate for these two? Lies. Betrayal and deceit, and torture surround them at every turn. The two begin to plot a life on the outside - but can that goal be achieved? Especially with the arrival of Milo - the organization’s kingpin. Now he is one character you are going to have to meet all on your own.

Irrevocable. Its not just a book, its an experience - a revolution in dark romance. What are you waiting for? Take the next step.

I still don't really know how to review this. I usually love dark books but I think this may have surpassed by threshold for evil fuckery. I wouldn't even classify this book as dark erotica because there were rarely any erotic or sensual moments in the book. If anything I spent most of my time being completely grossed out and extremely uncomfortable. The "initiation" scene (I'm not going to give any spoilers) was so damn disgusting I wanted to gag or wash myself off with bleach. Furthermore, I felt like the heroines reactions (or lack there of) were completely unrealistic. I don't care if you're freaking super woman, it's not possible to endure what she did and be cured by a plate of chocolate mouse cake. It just wasn't realistic at all.

I was also really confused by some of the things Kirk did especially when things begin to unfold later in the story. Some of the things he did made sense but others left me completely confused as to why it even happened. It's never explained and it felt like it was just added for shock value.

If you're looking for a dark book (minus the erotica) that's going to make you extremely uncomfortable and absolutely no connection between the H/h then I guess this book is for you.

2.5-3 stars. This book had a promising storyline and immediately appealed to me – yes I do like my slave-captive stories if written well and I was looking forward to a dark, dangerous, slightly sadistic, brooding, unpredictable hero that I loved even if it made me question my own sanity. Was Kirk like this? Yes and no. He was all of the above, but for me I just didn’t click, with him or the heroine – Rose or Silver.

The story starts off straight after she is taken by a group of men, where she finds herself in a dark basement with said unknown men surrounding and taunting her. It’s clear they are a bunch of sadistic perverts and she does try to fend them off, causing a bit of a commotion that attracts the attention of Kirk. He puts an end to the violence, mainly because he doesn’t like the ring-leader and doesn’t want the hassle of ‘cleaning up’ after them, rather than, oh I don’t know, because he doesn’t want her hurt! So Silver quickly realises she is in a rather dangerous situation surrounded by people who do not care and have the potential to inflict lots of pain.

Kirk ends up as her reluctant Master, since she can’t be released and he is told by the main guy in the organisation – Ross – to train her as his slave. What follows is a series of confusing scenes between the two MCs. Kirk was such a contradiction. One second he was seemingly sweet to her and the next, he was inflicting pain and being a complete arse! And that’s putting it mildly. I just couldn’t get a grip on his character. Silver was pretty much the same. For the first week or so, she was a typical captive, constantly defying him, resulting in lots of nasty punishments. Of course I wouldn’t expect anything less from a strong-minded heroine, but what I didn’t get was her sudden transition into a willing slave. Neither did I get Kirks sudden change from a Jekyll and Hyde to simply a caring man. As a result their romantic relationship left a lot to be desired. The sex-love scenes, both behind closed doors and in front of the members of the organisation fell flat for me. There was no build up, no anticipation and ended too quickly. Disappointing since I’ve read a lot of books in the same genre and despite the circumstances they managed to be titillating. This one, not so much.

I nearly DNF this one since I found myself not really caring what happened to the couple. I guess the main reason for continuing was that I don’t like the DNF status and the subsequent fall into a book funk.
Maybe if I hadn’t have read such amazing slave-captive books before I would award this one 3.5-4 stars, but by natural comparison, this one fell short.

Wow.. I started out wanting to hate this book immensely. It was really out of my comfort zone, and didn’t have a clue how to rate or review it. Dark, ugly..intense and amazingly written! The warning fit the book, its definitely not a sweet loving story.
Imagine being taken from all that you know, to a place where if you are to survive you have to forget yourself. You have to endure acts that will not only strip you down to the bone, but down to your very soul. At each turn you fight to keep your identity, but to keep fighting could mean your death.
After being kidnapped and for to be the play to for one of many, you're “rescued” and will be trained to serve the one. The one male that will be your lifeline, your Master and protector.
The key to “Silver” keeping her life is Kirk, he doesn't want nor need the added aggravation of a slave. When he rescued her from the hands of the men that works with him, he labeled himself her Master and protector. He pushes to train her, she pushes back. Because of the life within the “retreat” you can let your guard down, not ever. If he is to keep Silver alive, she will have to learn to do as she is told. End of Story.
The acts of depravity, the tearing down of ones soul, to see yourself as nothing but an object. Each and everything you get is at the hands of the one who owns you. Kirk works hard at keeping Silver safe, knowing she isn’t like the other girls. She doesn’t belong here, and he will try to get her out. As some situation dictates he will have to “perform”, he will have to do things with and to silver that he doesn't want to do... or does he?
At then end of this I was left with just a wow, a emo-roller coaster feelings. Back and forth with not liking it, not finishing it. Until I found myself at the end of the book. Would I recommend this book?.. yes but to only the ones that like the dark and intense.

Good Lord!!! With as much twisting, pulling, clamping, and pinching done to ones NIPPLES, I'm shocked they just don't fall off!!

I swear my own nipples are still sore after reading this book. Let alone the clit pinching. I'm sure my reflex would have accidentally poked or punched someone in the eye or nose. Like the saying goes, an eye for a clit or was that an eye for an eye.

Anyway, I am so shocked to find that I really liked this book. It was very entertaining. I was a little scared on some parts and eyes furrowing on others. The building this story takes place in, is one terrifying place. I could never sleep or feel comfortable. Silver was a pretty tough heroine from the very beginning. At times I thought she would take things too far, and she did. Kirk was one cool dude. I don't know how he got through a day without antacids, if I were him, I would have been popping them baby's left and right from all the stress. He clearly needed some Tagaments for ulcers after meeting Silver.

This was a little different take on human trafficking. I could actually stomach this one, although it had one truly hard to read part in it. I was sitting here reading it with my nostrils flaring and my left fist balled. I'm just glad the author didn't leave me like that because that ain't funny at all.

If you want a moderately thrilling read to escape your blasé life for a little while, then read this book for your next adventure.

Anything with the word DARK in the title or blurb and I'm up for the read and this one did not disappoint. Not read any of Skye Callahan before but will def look into more from her.
Couldn't and didn't want to put it down till I finished it.

Action packed from the start with Rose waking to being attacked by a group of men not remembering how she got where she is. Kirk saves her this time and claims her as his slave and she is renamed Silver.
Silver is a feisty strong willed young woman and her mouth gets her in trouble on more than one occasion.
We find another side to Kirk and he promises to keep Silver safe and protect her.

Some great chemistry between these two and lots of sexy hot scenes along with some nasty disturbing ones.

Another great dark read and on to Bend Don't Break.

dnf at 60%

I don't even know what to say about this book. I made it up to 60% hoping for something even though I realized there was nothing to hope for somewhere around chapter four. I am a fan of dark erotica/romance but almost all the scenes in this book made me cringe, I couldn't connect with any of the characters, and there was nothing there to keep me interested.

Taken by darkness

This was an incredible story. Silver was drugged, abducted then made into Kirk's pet. Its not all as it seems, as he's extended her his protection and now she has to be his.

The power struggle she goes through to give up her fight it a battle daily. Can she allow herself to give up and enjoy her time with Kirk or will she lose and fight against the one person whose trying to keep her safe from the worst among them.

This was a dark read and should take note of triggers.

I enjoyed this story and the development of their relationship and the trust they built along the way.

I am not going to spoil this story for you—so I will hit on the basics. Silver is drugged and kidnapped by goons who are employed by a secret sex slave retreat. Silver is claimed by a new Master who happens to be part of the operation. Kirk, Silver’s new Master, isn’t who he seems to be. Silver will do whatever it takes to survive. She starts to see and feel things for Kirk but is this situation irrevocable?

Irrevocable by Skye Callahan is Kindle Crack. I got sucked into Silver and Kirk's story from page one. Irrevocable isn’t over the top violent or graphic, but it had me cringing at times. This book is dark..but not as dark as other books I have read.

The characters and the plot were developed really well and I was captivated from the first to the last page. I couldn’t put this “unputabledownable” book down and read it in one sitting. Fans of Escape From Paradise by Gwendolyn Field will love this book. Go and one-click this one. Irrevocable is an absolute must read for dark romance fans.

Thanks to Wicked Reads for a free book to read and review. Lovely read that captured my attention and sucked me in. Well written and steamy for a dark intense read. I happen to love dark romance stories that have Stockholm syndrome in them. This book fed that insane need I have to read such dark, and intense situations that include nonconsensual sex, slavery, and other sexual acts. The synopsis caught my eye right off, and that cover was hot as hell. The plot for the book was really good, and I read the book in one sitting. So if you love dark love stories, this one didn't disappoint me. Overall entertainment was five stars. The characters had really good chemistry and the situations were constructed so you could immerse yourself in this stories scenes as if you were part of it. Captivating in the least.

Irrevocable

This was good. I felt so bad for Silver. I try to put myself into there situation I can't do it. I would kill myself or have them do it. I wouldn't be a good sex slave haha

Shayna Renee's Spicy Reads TOP PICK of 2014!

Irrevocable by Skye Callahan was a dark, intense, erotic, absolutely BRILLIANT read! I devoured this book in one night, and it has easily made my Top Pick of 2014 list. Dark Erotic Romance junkies BEWARE! You will instantly become addicted to Skye Callahan's writing style. I just felt so exhilarated the whole way through, there was absolutely no pulling me away from this read whatsoever.

❝Choose to die or fight to live.❞

This review will solely tell you about my thoughts on Irrevocable. In no way do I want to spoil this read for anyone. It is too fantastic, too disturbing, to ridiculously good to ruin. This is a story about SURVIVAL. It is about digging deep, looking into your soul and finally deciding what kind of person you want to be. No matter how hard life gets, no matter how much shit is thrown your way, YOU have to decide if you are going to let that break you, or will you succumb to the nasty ways of the world and just wither away and be lost forever.

❝Don't break, Sugar. Push it away. Focus on something else.❞

Not only did Irrevocable gut me, it took me on a roller coaster ride full of emotions that I usually don't experience while reading romances. This wasn't just any romance though. For a minute there, I wasn't sure if romance was even going to find its way into this book. Alas, twists and turns arise, secrets are revealed, and the romance blossoms in such unexpected ways. The characters that Skye created are wonderfully damaged and so complex. It's not too far into the book, when you start to experience the same exact emotions they are. You start to hate, you start to sympathize, and you begin to fall in love in every way. Ms. Callahan has turned my world upside down with her writing. Dark, sensual, and at times overwhelming, Irrevocable will bring you on a dark journey that you will never forget.

I loved this book! So well written and believable how it all happened.

I've heard of Skye Callahan, but had not had the opportunity to read any of her books. So when a friend who knows the types of books i enjoy, recommended this book, I couldn't pass it up! I've found a new favorite author to round out my list.

This book had some really dark and twisted turns that kept me actively interested in the characters. And even though, at times, I really wanted to smack Silver for her lack of appreciation of Kirk, I had to remind myself that if I were in that situation, I probably wouldn't have been very gracious either, even for the little things.

This book had a major OMG twist in it, and I just LOVE that in my books! And I sooo can't wait to discuss them with my friends! *That* is the mark of a great book!

A couple of my favorite lines from this book that actually gave me a laugh.

Silver talking about Kirk:

***Lucky me. I'd been claimed by the voice of reason within their fucked up world.

***And, as if things weren't fucked up enough, I was living with a criminal who made his bed.

(When she was in trouble, yet again)
***I watched him lube up the plug as i slowly ran my hands under the hot water. I couldn't tell if it was the vibrating on or not, and I shuddered at the thought of trying to cook with that thing having a fiesta in my ass.

The book, for the most part, is very serious, but some of the running monologue Silver has with herself has made me laugh out loud.

I put this on one of my shelves under Stockholm Syndrome, but that's kind of iffy for me. At first I really thought that was the case, but I'm not really sure it was. I'd be interested to read what others think about that.

4 Twisted Stars!

If I could rate this book 10 stars I would. This book was amazing! It was dark but not as dark as some, and it had some not so dark moments that were refreshing and touching. Silver was kidnapped after a night out with friends to celebrate her birthday. Kirk was now her Master. Being kidnapped and made into a sex slave can either bend or break you. Kirk was trying to make sure Silver didn’t break. The relationship between Silver and Kirk was amazing. I don’t want to give away anything because this book is so good and you really need to read it for yourself to understand. I went through every emotion reading this book, hurt, anger, tears and even a little laughter at a few snarky comments. I didn’t want the story to end but I couldn’t stop reading because I had to find out what happened. I will read this book again and again because I enjoyed it that much.

Characters: The characters were well written, believable and you felt their emotions as if they were your own.

Sex: yes

Religious: no

Would I recommend to others: yes

More than one book in the series: no

Genre: Dark

Would I read more by this author: yes

Dark Readers, this one's for you!

I think this one varied in levels of darkness. I enjoyed the characters, the plot, and the sadistic men in this story. Some parts were PITCH DARK, but other times it was mild. (to me) I think this would be hard for some readers to swallow, but if you love dark reads, this one is for you. It fed my dark heart. Take the warnings serious!

Rose wakes up in a basement being mauled by men, with no recollection of how she got there. And we don't actually find out until the story starts to unfold and the facades fall. James is a mystery, I'm glad we didn't get his point of view because that would've stole the mystery and intrigue. The story itself has been told before, I've read so many dark stories, it takes something much more unique to get my blood pumping, however I really enjoyed this!!!

This was the first book I've read by this author, I have to see what else she's written. Skye, you have a new fan!!!!

Highly Recommended to my dark friends!

Finally a good DARK read, that has it ALL!!
The characters are well developed and believable, the story-line is intriguing, the "dark" factor was HIGH but at the same time there were "light" points.
Ms.Callahan was able to make me feel SO many emotions reading this book - I just couldn't put it down.
I can't "spoil" anything, but if you like a good, dark read then you NEED to read this.
If you can't stomach semi-dark reads, this is NOT for you.
It does contain Dub-Con (and maybe a scene or two of non-con, but it isn't painful) and scary situations, please be warned if this isn't your thing.
This is really a story of survival and overcoming obstacles. It's a story of trust and safety and honor and ultimately, love.
Overall - the characters drew me in, the situation jangled my nerves, the sexy scenes were HOT, and the story just blew me away.

Speechless**** I really did enjoy this book. It took me 4hrs to read it. And I have to say I was hooked from beginning to end. I love dark books and this one did not disappoint. It was just perfect. The story has a bit of everything

There isn't one character in this book I didn't like. Every single one of them served a purpose. Of curse they aren't all good kinda people but that's what made this story to me good. It wasn't like every other book where the girl falls for her dom and he protects her and nothing bad ever happens to her... Nope here she is humiliated, raped, hit and so much more. She goes through hell as a slave. Even the way she ends up there genius!

Personally I couldn't get enough of the story. I loved it and I loved how it sucked me right up.
