Life often feels full of impossible tasks—needs you can’t meet, wrongs you can’t forgive, obstacles you can’t overcome. And in the midst of these crushing challenges, you’re supposed to have faith in a God you cannot see? Yet, if you walk in faith, you’ll find God paving a path full of miracles and blessings through all of your trials—if you trust Him, no matter what. However fearful or horrible your situations become, remember God has allowed them—or even placed you within them—for a reason: to give you an opportunity to ground your faith in Him. It is only when you’re at a total loss, only when you have no recourse but to fall to your knees and cry out for His intervention, that’s when miracles happen.
Through a decade of pain and suffering, bestselling author Cherie Hill discovered how God meets her exactly where she needs Him. Now it’s your turn to learn how life’s trials are just an overture to His miracles.
I'm just a sinner, saved by God's AMAZING grace, with one desire: for my life to be poured out as a servant to Christ, in order to bring glory to God.
God has given me the great joy of spreading His Word around the world through Scripturenow.com And even though I have a BA in Psychology and I'm trained in Biblical Counseling through the AACC . . . it is truly God who has qualified me, through my daily surrender, as I walk intimately with Him one day at a time.
In the most amazing journey of my life, God has seen fit to make me an International Bestselling Christian Living author. More miraculously, I've been ranked #6 in Bestselling authors for Amazon in the Religion and Spirituality category. Truly, God still does miracles. (It's ONLY by the grace of God that I am who I am. 1 Corinthians 15:10)
My published works are:"Waiting on God," "Be Still: Let Jesus Calm Your Storms," "Beginning at The End: Finding God When Your World Falls Apart, "The Ways of God: Finding Purpose Through Your Pain," "Hope Being Gone," "empty. (Living Full of Faith When Life Drains You Dry)," and my latest releases:
I have the great privilege of writing the Christian Women's column, "FAITHLIFT" for CWAHM.com and I also write for several other online Christian Magazines.
Recently, due to author demand, I've developed my own publishing services which publishes paperbacks, ebooks, and CDs through Amazon.com You can visit me at: http://www.writesourcepublishingservi...
I also enjoy the privilege of being the #1 Book Reviewer for Thomas Nelson, as well as an avid reviewer for Zondervan, Amazon, Bethany House, Tyndale, Waterbrook/Multanomah and Revell Books. I dedicate my time to serving God through my church, several non-profit organizations, and my local animal shelter. I diligently pray that the fullness of God will pour out through my life into the lives of others.
My greatest joy: Living out my Lord and Savior's command, "When you have repented and turned to Me again, strengthen your brothers/sisters" (Luke 22:32). It is my passion to encourage others in their faith and lead them into a deeper relationship with the One who paid it all.
I decided to listen to this at the same time as starting to read the New Testament to try and motivate me. I enjoyed this and found it quite emotional and inspiring.
As with many motivational and self-help books, it can be a bit repetitive. Not necessarily a bad thing with my poor memory. However, I had never heard of "Red Sea moments" before listening to this, and feel I've heard it mentioned so many times over the last couple of days, that I can happily live with those words not being mentioned in the same sentence for the rest of the year.
I borrowed this in audiobook format through Kindle Unlimited, and would definitely recommend it to those in need of a bit of an emotional push when it comes to their faith in God.
I thought this book might be either a devotional type of book or geared more toward a Bible Study. I don’t think I’d use it as either. I didn’t dislike it, but I didn’t like it, either. I don’t say this often about Christian non-fiction, but to me, this book was “preachy”. The author referred to the reader being in a “Red Sea moment” (being stuck between a rock and a hard place, for those who don’t know Bible terminology) and seeking a miracle from God. OK, I get that. But I was just thinking as I listened to the book about some current situations that I’m praying about (some for myself, some for others) and I thought, “If some one said this to me, would it help me?” Or, “If I said this to someone, would it help them?”
While I agree with what this author put forth about what to do when you need a miracle, I just thought it lacked the empathy I would want to give or be given in “a Red Sea moment”. I kept thinking as I listened that a reader might pick up this book and take all these steps and yet STILL not get a miracle—because God can’t be manipulated. Ultimately, one has to come to the point of praying “not my will, but Thine be done,” and leaving the outcome in God’s hands.
I also thought, as I listened, that this book is heavily geared toward those who are already believers in God. I didn’t think a non-believer or non-Christian would find this book that helpful, but I could certainly be wrong. I doubt I would recommend it to a non-believer.
The audio narration was ok. The narrator did a good job. Overall, this book was a so-so read/listen for me. It didn’t detract from my faith in God or add to my knowledge of Him, but it didn’t deepen it either. I made three highlights while I was reading (which I made visible) because they were what I gleaned from this book.
I've come to a Red Sea place at the moment and this book happens to be the right book at the right time. I've had Red Sea moments before and God parted the sea every single time.
I've learned to trust in God. When I pray, I say, "Not my will, thy will be done" because I've learned from my own experience that God is good, that God is for me and never against me. I've come to know that His plans are always better than mine and His timing is always better than what I think is a right timing.
So, sometimes I trust even when I don't see. At other times, I find it difficult to trust when I'm not seeing. It is not that I don't remember what He has done for me in the past but I can become quite anxious and/or impatient.
He might be saying to me, "Do you not yet perceive or understand? Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?" (Mark 8:17-18, ESV)
Sometimes, he didn't prevent me from the lion den but he was there for me, right in the den and made me lionproof. And he parts the Red Sea at the right time. He's never-too-late God.
Solid well-known principles for faithful living, not much of a secret, but good reminders. Uses and abuses the parting of the Red Sea story in Exodus. A bit too preachy for my taste, lacking the personal experience other similar books have (an example for the authors life or others), based on biblical principles alone, choke full with citations. But that's a good thing, right? Still feels a bit dry regardless. However, it can be a great encouragement for someone who's being tried at the edge of their faith.
I found this book really to make me faith-filled. Twice while I was reading the book, I encountered fearful thoughts over work I was doing. But I just used the techniques outlined in the book, and the techniques worked. Pray, praise and trust. Also, the Author recounts old Bible stories in elegant and relevant ways, bringing new light into the dramas. The Psalms she has chosen to highlight her points reassure you.
This book greatly helped me look at trial and blessings better from God's point of view. Prayer, faith, trust and believing God. Because our God is awesome and has already won the war. He has a plan and wants to use us in our imperfection to help humanity understanding God. We get more out of life when we believe.
This book helped me through the toughest days in my life. Fear had over taken me and I was utterly lost in darkness. I was terrified beyond anything I had ever experienced before. God sent this book to me to help me get through those days. It lifted me up and gave me hope.
The book makes you realize the amazing Graces of God through faith and believing. It was interesting to keep reading, never felt like keeping the book down.
Read, highlight and read agains over over TRUST GOD get to know intimately GODs heart. Trust HIM have joy peace and expect miracles your expectations will not be cut off it is written it is finished.
this is a very good book. It gave me great insight. It provide many of the secrets of faith, which will help me along my journey. I highly recommend that you read this book and share it with others.
Highly recommend this book! Nothing that I haven’t heard before but such a concise fresh perspective on the big faith moments esp when you’re going through tremendous trials!
This was not only a eye opener on faith, but this was a refresher on knowing what God can do .This was a book.written to instruct and inform but to give peace as well.
I won a free copy of this book in a Goodreads contest. One of those books I was excited and glad I won. When I got this book I was dealing with a lot of stress, anxiety, and a bit of depression. This lift my spirit and helped me realize that I can get through this alive and become a better person for going through those tests life thrown at me from nowhere. A quick read and a huge reminder that we are stronger then we think. The lesson Cherie Hill mentions don't work at first, as she stated it is something we need to work on constantly in order for it to really work such as taking medicine for a bad virus. It won't go away if we stop taking the medicine to get rid of it, we need to listen to the doctor and take our medicine everyday even though we might think we are better to really be healed. I still have stressful moments in life but with the help from this book and others, it helped me lower my stress to something I can deal with.
Goodreads win. Will read and review once received.
A very good read. I read this book from cover to cover. It was one of those books that grab a hold of you and by the end of the book you wish it wasn't over. It was short, quick, and easy to read. It had it's inspirational moments. A well written book that many people should read.
When You Need a Miracle: The Seven Secrets of Faith was sent to me through the GoodReads FirstReads program.
That said, I really found this book to be inspirational as well as instructive. There is really only one secret in this book. Trust is the secret. The book is well written as expected and will be a great addition to anyone's library for Biblical Study.
This book was sent to me by a friend, who thought of me while reading her own copy and felt compelled to share it. Reading passages of it daily definitely helps keep perspective during life's "Red Sea" moments where there seem to be no answers, no solutions, no way out. Some very great points are made. I plan to start over, and re-read it often.
This is an excellent book. It walked you through the seven steps of faith and what is expected of you to reach that point. I've learned and grown a lot from this book. I would highly recommend this book for anyone whose trying to find their way.
A great book on faith with scripture references that address specific issues. Well written and great insights on how to build your faith. Thanks Cherie Hill! I loved every bit of this book! :)
This book was in lightning encouraging and hopeful. I recommend it to anybody good times or bad. It help me during a very rough time and I read it constantly.
