One Night is the first of three serial installments of the One Night Series. Angela and her husband Christopher’s careers have come between them. Spending the last six months apart, Angela is finally considering slowing things down so she can revisit her marriage. Working as consultant who visits hotels and resorts around the world, explaining what they do right and were they can improve service and ultimately their bottom line lands Angela in the cross-hairs of a playboy.

When she discovers some hard truths by mistake, she is given a chance to give in to her desire – into temptation. An offer, a single night with a stranger.

The concept of this was iffy for me. I am not one that enjoys a story of a married character straying. Now granted, that little problem was solved easily and the actions were all given justification... sometimes just that scenario can leave me in a place where I am not on solid footing.

I wanted to love this. I wanted to read this first part and be swept away, but I wasn’t. The dialogue at times felt very forced and awkward. There were times when it felt like the scene was being set, then the character would say something in such a way that just felt unnatural or forced, not fluid. By the time I hit the end I wasn’t intrigued enough to want to read more, and with these serials that has to happen. I am glad to see the positive reviews where some readers felt that, but for me this one just didn’t get me to that point.

I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

One Night is the first in a trilogy, but it could be read as a stand alone short story.

This is the first published work by the author, and for a first outing, it is pretty good. Much of One Night is devoted to setting up the trilogy with descriptions of the main character's life and marriage. The back ground gives the reader insight into why Angela decides to have a one night stand.

While adulterous flings are frowned upon, and revenge sex even more so, the author did not shy away from the topic. Both Angela and her husband, Christopher, travel perpetually for business. The reader isn't given insight into why they got married in the first place, but it is clear that nothing is being done to maintain the relationship. One Night is an excellent example of the fragility of marriage and how easily vows are forgotten.

While the ending of the book is not a complete surprise, I enjoyed the rom-com-esque final scene.

One night is part one of a three part series. It is a quick read that will leave you wanting more at the end.

Angela Nicole Stephens travels for work, always going from one hotel to the next. Her husband, Christopher travels as well, but unfortunately they’re rarely together. Angela is on her new job location working with Black Enterprises, she is there to see why business is declining in this five star hotel and report back to Mr.Black with her findings.

Lately Angela has been thinking it’s time to settle down and start actually having a normal relationship with her husband, she is tired of being apart. She believes it is time to have a good talk with her husband, maybe a surprise visit.

Angela’s job requires her to test out the facilities of the hotel and finds out why this hotel may be losing customers. She takes notes of everything she will report to Mr.Black. Deciding to try out the lounge for a few drinks she meets Mr.Bartender who is very attractive and charming. She is married and knows she needs to brush off Mr.Bartender but will the circumstances change and have her thinking otherwise?

I used to not be a fan of shorts stories but here lately I have grown to like them. Even with the length of this story I did relate to Angela’s character. What I thought was going to play out at first ended up not happening, which I liked because I enjoy unpredictable reads. As I read the last sentence of this book, I immediately wanted to read the next. If you are a fan of quick reads I believe you will enjoy this one.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This is a quick read. This is the first installment of three.

Angela Stephens has her dream job. She travels the world revamping hotel services. She thought she was happy. That things were going great other than the fact she hasn't seen her husband, Christopher, who also travels for his job, in six months. When Angela walks into the hotel lounge and meets Mr. Bartender her world changes.

This definitely is a fast read. Unfortunately, just when things were getting good, it ends. I fought in the fist chapter for it to hold my attention even with all the back story being divulged there. I was quickly entertained in the second chapter flying through the rest of the read. Can't wait to see what happens in the second installment, One More Night.

**** (4 stars) A quick and enjoyable read with some unexpected surprises.

“One Night” by A.M. Willard is a short and quick, but enjoyable read with quite a few unexpected surprises. While an enjoyable read, I felt like the story was a bit short and could have offered a little more detail. Angela and Christopher have been married for a number of years; however, whether they really have a marriage – or even a relationship – is debatable. Their respective jobs require large amounts of travel, and it seems they never travel to the same place, nor do their days at home coincide.

Angela feels it is time for things to change. She needs more from Christopher than a few brief phone calls or a text once or twice a day, if even that. She thinks she would like to start a family, but that would only work if both of them reduce their travel time. The last time Angela saw Christopher was six months ago when they briefly crossed paths at the airport when one was arriving and the other departing. A.M. Willard does a wonderful job describing how unhappy Angela is with how things currently are between her and Christopher, and conveying how Angela attempts to tell herself and others that she has a great marriage and that everything is fine, even though she is constantly wondering why phone calls and texts between her and Christopher are growing fewer and farther between.

While assessing a hotel to find out how to improve their business, Angela continues to think about changing things between her and Christopher, but she can never get him on the phone and he doesn’t reply to her texts. Looking for a way to unwind, she decides to go to the bar/lounge for a drink and a bite to eat – she can also use this time to observe the staff and the management of the bar/lounge. The sexy bartender is extremely helpful and friendly, and asks to join Angela for dinner. Angela feels drawn to Mr. Bartender, but chalks it up to not having been with a man (her husband) in several months. During Angela’s meal, I was given just as much of a shock as Angela was with the phone call she received! It completely caught me off-guard, and I would honestly have to say that Angela is a very strong woman to take the “news” she has been given all in stride. I don’t think I would have been able to keep myself as together, even using the excuse of a stranger in front of me as Angela did. Needless to say, this event triggers Angela’s decision to take Mr. Bartender up on his request for one night with her … one night to show her passion … one night to care for her … one night to take away the pain.

A.M. Willard set everything up beautifully, and throughout the story, I could understand how Angela felt, her feelings, and the reasons for her decisions. Given her newfound knowledge, Angela is accepting of her decision for one night with Mr. Bartender – and what a night it is! Mr. Bartender gives Angela a night like she has never had – hot, steamy, passionate – he makes her come apart with pleasure. Angela is even more okay with her one night when she discovers Mr. Bartender left a note for her before leaving her room when she was in the shower. She won’t have to see him again; after all, it was just one night … or is it?

I was completely surprised when Angela went to her business meeting and discovered that Mr. Bartender was none other than the hotel owner, Logan Black. What does the future hold for Angela and Logan Black? What is in the future for Angela and Christopher? Will Angela’s one night remain one night, or will there be more?

Angela Stephen's has the career she has always wanted. She is married to the man she thought she always wanted, or is she. One may change everything in her life but that may not be a bad thing. Mr Bartender... damn! This novella is seriously hot with the chemistry between Angela and Logan a.k.a. Mr Bartender. What she discovers about her husband Christopher just stunned me. I loved the beginning of this novella series. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. A.M. Willard is a wizard of writing as she weaves her spell around you and you don't want to ever leave her world. Highly recommended!!!

That which began as a one night stand becomes a forever kind of love between Angela and Logan. Beautiful story with believable, realistic characters. The plot is gently paced and the challenges help to focus the mind to the truth of the heart bringing a strengthening of character. There was a surprising turn of events at one point that reveals true character defects in Christopher. The character of Tabitha added a streak of humor to the romantic tale. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.

I greatly enjoyed this series. It kept you very entertained and left nothing out. The author did an excellent job with the details and descriptions of each character and each of the scenes. I was intrigued from the beginning all the way through until the end. It was a great way to escape reality but it also touched on real life in a way. I would definitely recommend this series. I was given an ARC for my honest review.

If you are looking for a fast but awesome read this is your book. Logan is the ultimate book boyfriend.

Logan is the normal spoilt playboy always has a different lady around. That all changed once he seen Angela walk in to the bar. Of course Logan never told Angela his name. He was then named the Mr. Bartender; however I call him the Sexy Bartender. Oh did I mention Angela is married? Well if not you know now, but trust me he is a scum bag!

The question you will be asking yourself are you Team Christopher or Team Logan (Sexy Bartender)?

I’m not sure if you have a Playlist soundtrack but I actually have one for this book.

• Say Something by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera
• Chapter One by Matt Cermanski
• Secret by Maroon 5
• Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys
• Hotel Room Service- Pit Bull
• Words I Couldn’t Say by Leighton Meester
• This Train by Matt Cermanski

A.M. Willard you are an amazing Author. I cannot wait for more of your books. You have easily just made my favorite Author List and favorite book as well!

~~~~~~~~~~Patricia's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
The story of Angela and Logan is such a swoon worthy story. Angela has a lot of ups and downs and doesn't know where life is going to take her so she puts a lot of thought into what she want to do with her life and her company. When she meets Logan everything changes for her and the world will sets itself upside down and when it finally gets righted again where will that leave her. What does life have in store for Logan and Angela in the next steps of their life? This book grabs you and keeps you guessing what will happen next and how life turns out in the end.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Initially I wasn’t going to write a review for this book. When I first finished it, I couldn’t decide how I felt about it and the parts of the story that I found confusing. As I thought more about it, I realized that my confusion mirrored Angela’s as I believe I made the same assumptions that she did regarding the identity of the man making out with Rachel. I also had to come to terms with the descriptive nature of Angela’s narration – while it seems a bit too much considering the short length of the book, it is appropriate for the character considering the nature of her job. While I understand her decision NOT to listen to the gossip her assistant found on Google, I thought it odd that she did not at least look at Mr. Black’s photos so that she would know what he looked like as his supposed playboy antics are largely being blamed for the hotel’s decline.
With all that said, One Night is a quick and enjoyable read. Because of its length, there is not a lot of time for storyline development, but Ms. Willard provides enough character building for Angela that I was able to connect with her. After the apparent butt-dialed phone call from her husband, I had no issue with her taking Mr. Bartender up on his offer of One Night. After all, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander and Mr. Bartender is most definitely good for the gander. The story ends on a slight cliffhanger that leaves you wanting the next installment immediately. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of Ms. Willard’s work.
I was introduced to A.M. Willard's work when i started the Taste Of Love Series and i'm really enjoying her style of writing. So with her New Novella coming out One More Christmas, i've decided to read the One Night Series first so i can get a feel of the characters that may be in the Christmas story. One Night is the first in a trilogy, of short stories. It is a quick read that will leave you wanting more.
Angela has a very successful business but with success it often requires sacrifice, and this means lots of travel for work, always going from one hotel to the next. Her husband, Christopher travels as well as he too has his own business requiring a lot of travel, but unfortunately there schedules mean they’re rarely together. This for me gave me feelings of they were just lodgers for me this wasn't what i call a marriage!! Angela newest assignment is working with Black Enterprises, she is there to see why business is declining in this five star hotel and report back to Mr.Black with her findings.
While testing out the facilities of the hotel so she can report her findings as to why this hotel may be losing customers. Angela decides to try out the lounge for a few drinks this is where she meets Mr.Bartender who is very attractive and charming. She is married and knows she needs to brush off Mr.Bartender but will the circumstances change and have her thinking otherwise?
Things aren't always what we see and i liked i was left guessing with some surprises along the way. The story ends on a slight cliffhanger that leaves you wanting the next instalment immediately. I am definitely looking forward to reading more of A.M. Willard’s work.
I gave this series a 4.5 star rating
One Night #1
This book was such a fun read the perfect way to start it. I can't blame Angela for falling for Mr Bartender, he was charming and said all the right things. I would have fallen myself
One More Night #2
The aftermath is what I like to call this book. Angela just enjoyed one incredible night with a stranger. She finds out he's someone else, someone she has to work with a lot. Angela is determined to get this job, push Logan under the rug and keep moving forward. It doesn't exactly work that way. He's very charming and persistant. Angela finds out some deveasting news about her marriage. With the help of her assistant, she is trying to move on and be happy. She is pissed at Christopher for everything he did and keeping secrets from her. Logan and her are spending more and more time together and just when things are looking good for them, tragedy strikes.....
Forever Night
Angela life is changed even more than before, She is now taking on a funeral, her soon to be ex and her business. I have no idea how she's doing it all. Things are bit rocky but Logan is still very charming and things are moving forward for them. I absolutely love Tabitha, she is sassy and very straightforward. A true friend for Angela. Angela, throughout this journey is able to find healing and love for the first time. Her friends, family and of course Logan, help her move on and find happiness. While I'm not the biggest fan of cheating in books, I got sucked into this story and couldn't let go. A fun, sexy read for sure!!!
I received a copy to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Angela Stephens is a fixer, she helps hotels to fix what is wrong. Which means she is always on the road. Her husband Christopher also travels for his job and they are hardly even in the same place at the same time. Angela thinks she is about ready to move on and start a family. When she tries to call Christopher but he is with clients and tells her he will call her later. But he doesn't call or text. She goes to the hotel bar for a drink and dinner, the bartender is very easy on the eyes and he is watching her too. When her phone rings it is Christopher and she can't believe what she is hearing. When Mr Bartender walks her to her suite, he offers her a way to forget for just One Night. After her shower Mr Bartender is gone and she goes to sleep so she will be rested for her meeting in the morning. When she gets to the conference room, the man sitting there is not who she expected. What will she do now? Can she forget and forget what has happened? This is a first for my by A.M. Willard and I loved it. Can't wait to start One More Night.
After reading Annelle's A Taste of Love Series she has become a fast favourite of mine. This short novella did not disappoint. It was a brilliantly written, fast paced, hot sizzinly short story.
Angela Stephens is a fixer, she travels to hotels to help them fix what is wrong, her husband Christopher also travels for his job and they are rarely in the same place for long. Just when Angela decides she's ready to settle down and start a family with Christopher she makes a heartbreaking discovery when she calls him from the hotel bar whilst away on business.
Swoop in the sexy bartender who joins her for dinner and walks her to her suite. He makes her an offer to forget everything just for One Night. Imagine her surprise when she goes to meet be hotel owner Logan Black the next morning and finds out he is the sexy bartender.
Can they stick to One Night only and remain professional. Looking forward to reading the next instalment One More Night to see what happens next.
3 Stars!
These small stories seem to be the "it" thing right now. I truly like short reads every once in a while, but at some point I will start feeling like I want more bang for my buck. That's my thoughts on the length of the story. I did get this for free, but if I hadn't I would be disappointed!
Angela is married, yet separated from her husband more than she's with him. They both travel constantly. We find this out right away, so I was wondering how this 'One Night' was going play out. I didn't think Angela's character was genuine, I mean seriously? You just find out you are being betrayed, and you don't shed a single tear. I read fiction everyday, but this was too unbelievable. (I hate using that term) But I couldn't make myself believe this scenario. Don't get me wrong, I liked the whole idea of this story, I just need more out of the characters.
I'm hoping the second has more!
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
This is a 4.5* for me - not quite enough of it to love it, but I'm sure that the three together will be excellent.
I really enjoyed the storyline, and felt that it worked really well. The start is a little too crammed with information - but I guess that if the author wanted it to be a short read, that was inevitable. It did set up the story, and soon the evening drew around and the fun started. Having worked in hotels and enjoyed the fun side; this certainly rang true to me. I loved the reveal, and wish I'd seen her face, but it was easy to imagine!
Can't wait to read the next installment!
From Sexyways of Reading~ Angela works in hospitality. And she travels all over the world. She barely sees her husband Christopher as well. Because his job requires the same. Then Angela meets a sweet bartender after she went to the lounge. Her husband called by mistake and now she is aware something isn't right with her marriage.
The bartender offers her One Night.. No Strings no attachments. This book was short, sweet, add a little spa, a little steam and a hot alpha male, I am not big on Cliff hangers and I so wanted to know more.Does Angela take the plunge and sleep with the bartender.
Does she go home to husband and work out the problems that are there? I hope the next book offers more this was a teaser to me more then anything. But it was worth read and made me want to read the next.
Love the story line and characters. Angela is a strong, career driven, independent woman.
Angela and her husband, Christopher, both travel a lot for work and it seems that it's starting to take it's toll on their marriage. Angela is thinking about slowing down to spend more time with her husband and possibly start a family.
But what happens when you're attracted to a complete stranger and your marriage isn't quite what it's supposed to be.
I loved the characters in this story. Angela the strong, successful business woman. Tabitha the quirky supportive assistant/best friend. And love love love Logan a.k.a. Mr. Bartender ;)
Logan is sexy and demanding. He knows what he wants and he's very persistent. This is a great quick read that left me wanting to jump right into the next book.
Review of One Night by A. M. Willard
4 ½ out of 5 stars
One Night had me from the first page. The story grabbed me from the start and I couldn’t put it down.
Angela Stephens has a successful career, gets to travel the world, and has a wonderful husband. So what could be wrong?
Being apart from her husband for super long periods at a time have left Angela really lonely. She wants to make changes in her life to have more time with her husband.
But after a butt dial from her husband Angela is left questioning everything. She also has a sexy bartender wanting her badly just when she is longing for companionship.
This was a great quick read. The story flowed perfectly. I just wish it was longer.
A definite must read!
