Unchained Hearts: A Baxter Family Saga, by Palessa was a fantastic read! This book, while published in 2013, was my first time reading this particular author and I so enjoyed this book, that I have already purchased books two and three in the series.

When I first started reading and the story starts with Kyle it took me a minute to realize that Kyle was a female. As a wealthy CEO, when she receives a letter from her deceased mother, Virgilia, directing her to attend a meeting, and she blindly

Newton (Cass) Baxter is CEO of Baxter chemicals. Kyle Avery is owner of Mama Avery Foods. These two are destined to meet. After the death of Kyle's mother she is ask to come to the home of Cass Baxter and he tells her a fascinating story of love between her mother, Virgilia, and himself. He then tells her he is her father but has stayed away to keep them safe from his mother, Joan who is mentally ill. She did all kind of evil things to Cass and Virgilia to keep them apart including drugging Cass ...more

Unchained Hearts by Palessa was given to me for an honest review. If you want a book that grabs your attention and holds it then this is the book for you. This is a true second chance love story and it is HOT. How would you feel if you found your true love but the union is looked down upon, and someone sabotaged your life well this is the type of love Lila and Cass had. So we get this great story but this is just the backlog to the true story of Kyle and Randy and how their life are intertwined ...more

Kyle gets a letter after her Mother dies. She is to go to an address unknown to her. She thinks he is someone she met before. Cass is her father. He could not tell her or be with her Mom and her and lives without them to protect them. His mother has major psych issues enough that she has her own son kidnapped and doped for 4 years, until he starts remembering.
I really liked the story and will look for more. The story seemed a little confusing at times, but once you read more it all becomes

Great book

I enjoyed reading this book quite a bit. Getting two love stories in one was a fantastic treat. Yes, the plot is a little over the top in places, but that is the point of good fiction. To make the reader believe that something unrealistic could happen. I liked that this author could do that so convincingly. After finishing this book I immediately downloaded book two in the series and can't wait to see what happens next.

I was looking for something good to read and I found it. This was my first read by this author but I will be reading more. I read the book in one setting. I love how the story spanned across time..The story covered the relationship of more than one couple. Love me some (Cass & Lila) (Brandon & Kyle) I am truly invested in the characters the story made me laugh, cry. it had drama, suspense but most of all it showed the power of true love. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

interesting book, with the story spanning several decades (and 2 couples), but I felt like the conclusion was very rushed - would have liked to read more about the reunion...

wondering what happens next!

Beautifully written story of love winning out. Psycho mom, ex-girlfriend and ex-boyfriend trying their hardest to keep soul mates apart from one generation to the next. Maybe there is still hope for Cass and Lila with a possibility of Kyle getting her mother back.

Unchained Hearts by Palessa
Baxter Family Saga, Book 1
Newton "Cass" Baxter & Virgilia "Lila" Avery
Brandon "Randy" Hall/Baxter & KC "Kyle" Avery

In a nutshell, this is the story of two separate couples, each from a different generation of the same family (literally, the parents' love story is part one and their childrens' love story is part two) and the forces they have to overcome in order to be together. The story itself is intriguing and interesting to read. It definitely could fit the

This book could be a fantastic romance. It could be a saga to remember. But, it wasn't done right.
First, Cass and Lila should have had their own book! I think instead of confusing your readers, you could have separated the two love stories into their own. Because they you throw in Randy? Brandon? (I got confused since the name kept changing) and Kyle, or KC. There's some crazy twisting, suspenseful plot lines that were great. Things you

This would've been rated higher, but it was just too confusing when trying to keep track of all of the characters' multiple nicknames. Kyle was also KC and Brandon was also Randy. I felt like I needed a scorecard to remember who was who. The story was good, but the ending hinted at more to come. This book, however, was billed as a standalone. Book two looks like it would not answer the questions raised, so I won't be buying it.

Palessa is the author of the Baxter Family Saga series as well as other stories.

Her very first published book (aka author's trial by fire) is the interracial romance Unchained Hearts (Baxter Family Saga Book 1) . This crazy soap opera in a book is two love stories in one that opens the door to the life, love, tragedy, and legacy of the Baxters, a powerful, influential South Florida family. The
