Pennsylvania 4 is a short story, ~20,000 words (about 70 pages), and is the fourth book of five in the five-star-rated Pennsylvania series. Young Amishman Jedediah Troyer is the prize in a battle for control over New Pennsylvania. The whole new world is the battlefield as TRACE and the government (Transport) engage in a life and death struggle that could mean either freedom or tyranny for everyone on the planet. All the while Jed and the woman he loves grow closer together. But who is Dawn Beachy and what does she really want from Jed?

All the questions we had from Pennsylvania 1...2...3 -- so many of those questions get answered in spades. Of course, I won't spoil it here, but you can read PA4 for yourself and discover all the secrets Michael Bunker had up his sleeve all along.
By the time PA4 opens, Jed is living in "New Pennsylvania" along with a number of other old-world Amish, while the swirl of war between Transport and TRACE continues all around. The after-effects from the cliffhanger at the end of PA3 are felt through the first few chapters and helps the reader to understand what is really going on in this story. As the tale continues, Jed (and the reader) is slowly brought up to speed on what is really going on.
Not to say that this segment is left without action -- on the contrary. In fact, the ending is once again a heck of a kicker to lead into Part 5...which is a month away?! Great work, Mr. Bunker. You'll have me waiting with bated breath for the epic conclusion to Jed and Dawn's story.

...And it finally "gets real."
With this installment, Jed is deep in trouble and more confused than ever. Bunker starts to peel back the layers of the wonderful onion he's created with the Pennsylvania series. At every turn, the reader is drawn deeper into a rich world where nothing is as it appears on the outside. Even as we are given answers, new questions appear and the reader is happily forced to keep riding if they want to reach the end. Just as I thought "how is this going to end'" I remembered Pennsylvania was simply the first volume of a longer story. Now I'm even more excited to see where the Troyers are going. Tease on, Mr. Bunker, tease on!

Thou Shalt Not...3.5 stars
In the previous books, both the readers and the main character, Jed, have been kept in the dark about what's happening with Jed him on this new colony that he traveled to, New Pennsylvania and the story has been leading up to a big reveal. Well I got the feeling that the "big reveal" may have happened in this book but it was so anti-climatic that it surely couldn't possibly be it yet. So maybe that was just a little teaser and there is still more to come. I'm not sure at this point but there is one book left in the series so hopefully I'll get the answers I'm looking for in it.

Excellent! This installment moved the story forward nicely. It's apparent that almost nothing is what it seems to be. Jed made a guess that I agree with, although Michael Bunker has yet to confirm it. I had suspicions, and I think Jed's right. I also think Jed might be the smartest person in the room, and that this may cost him something in terms of his beliefs. Pennsylvania 5 promises to be very interesting indeed. This series is some fun reading!

Michael Bunker is a pure genius! This installment dives deeper into the relationship of brothers Jed and Amos...and what is really going on in the corrupt world of New Pennsylvania. Amish Sci-fi may be the next big thing...if not....it will always have my direct attention if written by the originator Bunker! Great job once again Michael! Bring on Part 5.

This book just keeps getting better and better... I am not wanting the adventure to end. Part 4 answers a lot of questions and opened the door to a few more. it's leading up to an action packed ending. An excellent series.

This series started off great, but now its limping to the finish line. I think I'll read a different book before I come back and finish this series. Giving this one a 3 star review, and I'm being very generous.

Another "knot" completed. Again, no review other than to say that this is a damn fun story, and this installment moves things along toward Penn5 nicely!

Wow, each part of this book is better and better.I can't even imagine an ending to it and hate to see it come to an end when it does.Coming up next- part 5.
