This was an entertaining read, but probably my least favourite of the bunch. I didn't really "feel" the romance, it was too sudden and rang a bit false to me. The story spans out on months, but the H/h only meet a few times, and since there didn't seem to be that much of an attraction between them at first, the timing and their feelings didn't quite work. But other than that, it was a fun read and I enjoyed the little "mystery" even though it was quite obvious.

Even though this is not my favorite story of the collection, I still enjoyed it. The mystery around the ranch was enough to keep me turning page after page. I really think this might have been better as a full length novel, but I do enjoy how the story ended with every wrapped up in a nice, neat bow.

When everything seems hopeless for Lucy Benson, something magical and definitely God inspired sends her to North Fork, Texas, to become a companion for a widowed woman whom everybody thinks lunatic. Even her own nephew, Andrew. Will she be up to this demanding task?

Another cute short story included in the collection A Match Made in Texas. I liked how the story was told. I liked the protagonists and the lovely aunt Martha (and her relationship with Lucy), and I had fun trying to solve the mystery that haunted everybody, especially poor Martha.

The love between Lucy and Andrew felt a bit rushed. Of course it had to be that way since this was a novella, but what I found strange was that the protagonists spend little time together and they fall in love all the same. I know that sometimes it just takes a look to fall in love with someone, but in this case it felt a tad unbelievable. As if they had to be together because there had to be some kind of romance. Nevertheless, it was a sweet story and I enjoyed reading it.

All in all, this was a good read and I would recommend it to historical fiction readers who also love a bit of mystery in their books.

Note: Though this is book number three in the collection, it can be read as a standalone.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

the book was OK, but I didn't feel it between Lucy and Andrew
The story is about Andrew who needs a companion to his old aunt who he suspects is going crazy because she is seeing weird stuff around the barn .. so he enlists the help of Lucy, she was once a rich girl but after her father died he left her poor with no family and no future, so she jumps to the job, there she realizes, maybe Aunt Martha is not crazy after all and there are so many weird stuff happening .. why ? and who ? and what can they do about it ?
the story is a nice mystery and Aunt Martha is amazing, but as far as romance goes, Andrew and Lucy would have more chemistry with a wall than each other .. didn't like it but didn't hate it either it was just Meh

I enjoyed this novella, which being the third novella in the A Match Made in Texas novella collection; actually matched up with being my third favorite novella out of the four.

I have read Trouble In Store and absolutely loved it, so I enjoyed reading more of Carol's work. This book definitely had the Carol Cox writing style that I enjoyed in Trouble In Store with the signature pinch of mystery and a very clean romance that doesn't pick up until later on in the novella - making for a good read for those who like less/cleaner romance and more of a story-line. While it wasn't my favorite novella in the collection, I really enjoyed it and would probably give it 3.5 stars, and enjoyed reading it.

Fully expected to give this book 3 stars just like nearly all the rest of these types of novellas, but honestly, the romance in this book... was it even romance? It was so sudden and out of nowhere, it just felt fake. Of course the story felt rushed, but that was expected from me. There just wasn’t much I liked about this book, so 2 instead of 3 stars it gets.

Don’t recommend it, honestly. If you like Christian romance fiction, I would suggest skipping this one, but you never know, you may love it.

Ladies Sewing Club decided to pray for Lucy, something would turn up, so she wouldn’t have to marry Walter. The pastor had received a letter and train ticket, and thought it would be perfect for her, and get her out of town.
Andrew was busy with his. Business and needed someone at the ranch to be with his aunt. Concerned when she started seeing things at night, but when Lucy also did. Then Andrew needed to investigate. Cute story.

The romance was lacking in this one, but there was a little mystery.

This story is a novella but felt rushed. The stronger story seemed to be the plot of Lucy taking care of Martha over the love story. It was a cute story just not developed.

I read this novella as part of the Match Made in Texas collection. Though there wasn't much conflict in the story, it was cute and pleasant to read. A nice departure from heavier stories.

No Match for Love – Carol Cox
Isn't Andrew so sweet? He's charming, and adorable, and wonderful. I can't really blame him for thinking Aunt Martha was going loony. Flying cows? You have to admit, that sounds an awful lot like insanity.
Lucy is also an endearing character. I thought it was a little strange how she didn't really ever think about Andrew. There was never any mental conflict or admission of being in love with him. That was a little out of the ordinary.
Martha – Boy, do I like her! She's fiery, independent, and quite capable, despite her years. Not your normal knee-knocking grannie.
Though their beliefs, were, once again, a bit shallow, I really enjoyed the story. I was anticipating adventure, but the mystery was a surprise. Not like I mind a surprise now and then.

This is the first story I've read by Carol Cox and I really enjoyed her writing style! I wish it had been a full-length novel but I enjoyed the characters and the mystery. Aunt Martha is a hoot! I loved that Lucy had been raised with servants and had no domestic skills but thanks to Aunt Martha's practical teaching and Lucy's teachable spirit, she was learning everything she needed to know to really make a go of a life she wanted! The mystery was interesting with cows jumping over the moon and glowing phantoms hovering through the midnight air. I wish there had been a little more to the romance and the development of it between Lucy and Andrew but it turned out okay. I'm looking forward to reading more Carol Cox novels!!

Lucy isn't feeling too useful and her friend is about to get married. In order to avoid marrying a local annoyance, she hires on as a companion for an elderly lady. Only when she arrives there she finds the lady wasn't really wanting a companion. But her nephew Andrew is able to talk her into helping out this poor girl who
Has nowhere else to go. Strange things are happening, causing people to think that Aunt Martha is going crazy. Talk of cows jumping over the moon are cause of concern for Andrew. Lucy is able to help Martha figure out what is going on though. Loved this story.

Whinning and go on, no real development between the characters. It was like the were mostly strangers with unadmited feeling towards one another, on one side and then bam they were married and couldn't get enough of one another. It just seemed to fast, and then the wallowing of how selfish she was took a chapter or two, in a short novella.

Cute, enjoyable read. I can see why other readers call it "rushed" but I understand because it's a novella. I think perhaps it would have seemed less forced if the hero lived on the ranch instead of just visited. Overall, it was a fun, light read. I read it in practically one sitting!

Perfect Story for a Night In

This short story was well-written with characters who interested me, a few of which I could relate to, and an adventurous plot. It was a clean, inspirational, historical romance which brought me back to my childhood in a fun way. If you decide to read it, and I hope you do, you may see what I mean by that.

No Match for Love was my least favorite of this novella series so far. The whole thing felt rushed, the romance a bit forced, and the character generally flat. It had the seeds to be a better story, but just seemed undeveloped overall.

This book just wasn't for me. Being a short story, I don't think the author had the plot on point. She tried putting mystery in it, and it just didn't add up to the romance. I feel like if this was a complete full novel I would be really good but like this I can only give it 3 stars.
