Embers and Ashes

Rate this book
Daux Deveraux’s life has gone up in flames.

Once on her way to becoming a valued member of Spec Ops with a group of newfound friends at her side, Daux has found herself at the mercy of those she used to believe in – and they no longer trust her. With Valentin gone, and her friends and teammates arrested alongside her, Daux has no one to turn to but her anger.

When she is released, Daux is broken nearly beyond repair but is offered her life back under the condition that she continues to aid in the search for her father. And in case she resists, Daux is threatened with her sister Amalie’s wellbeing. She agrees to Spec Ops’ terms, but the rage that has been building inside of her since childhood threatens to rear its ugly head.

Vowing revenge on both her father and the people who betrayed her, Daux sets out on a dangerous road of recovery and retribution.

Will her friends be able to bring her back from the brink before she is nothing but a husk of herself? Can Daux salvage what was destroyed and rise from the embers and ashes left in her wake?

Katelynn R. Butler grew up in East Tennessee and has been reading and dreaming up her own stories since she was a child. She procured her first library card at eight and has continued to ransack her local libraries since, reading anything she could get her hands on. She spends most of her days writing fantastical tales she adored growing up. Otherwise, she can be found baking, crocheting, researching vintage and historical dress, taking photos with her husband, or spoiling her two rescue cats. I am Become is Katelynn’s first novel.

WHERE DO I EVEN START?!

From the start, picking up right where book 1 left off, it’s non-stop action sucking you in until you can’t put it down because you have to know what happens next!!

Daux’s journey through this second installation of I Am Become is heart wrenchingly painful and beautiful simultaneously. She may act as though she doesn’t care, but she cares more than anyone out there (much like the author who created her). It’s apparent in her behaviors because she’s trying to protect the people she cares about, even if from herself. Her start to her healing journey at the end is beautiful. It’s all beautiful and the disability representation makes my heart so happy.

Already chompin’ at the bit for book 3. C’mon babe, I need it!!!
