"The Mysteries of Udolpho" by Ann Radcliffe was first published on 8th of May 1794. The first edition had four volumes. The novel was published by G. G. and J. Robinson of London. Ann Radcliffe was paid five hundred British Pounds for the manuscript. It was a large amount of money at that time. The contract signed between the author and the publisher is kept at the University of Virginia Library. The first manuscript is also present there.
