This was in my bookshelf for about 10 years. It
read like a school text book. It opened my eyes to a part of Virginia history that I knew nothing about. Many of the Indian tribes are gone but there are two reservations that still exist and eight state recognized tribes in VA, as of the 2001 publication of this book. Worth reading especially if you live in Virginia.

Using this book as a reference in my classroom during a unit on the Native Americans. This book is a real eye opener about the issues facing present-day Indians. It changed the scope of my unit and added a ton of rich detail.
