i loved DK books as a kid! my parents got me books on cultural celebrations, food, and a clothings from around the world - so it was nostalgic to find a modern food one in the library. i just feel like it missed it focus of food through a cultural and worldly lens, and focused on an academic lens of what makes up food, how much food is good, and different kinds of diets. then deviated to whatever topic was connected to food like 'world's largest omelet' and 'different food careers' - which just educate the kids! but felt like it missed it's point except for a few bits. i get this is for kids, but a curious kid about what people eat in asia or australia would miss this, but know what carbs is!

my favorite part was learning that other countries had their own food pyramids, and china had a food pagoda!
