Get ready to dive into a lively compilation of witty anecdotes, jokes and poems that celebrate the ups and downs of midlife. My story is a vibrant, unapologetically fun journey through the quirks of middle-age, all brought to life with my own unique illustrations. Sure, I might not be a trained artist, but who needs formal skills when you've got creativity, a sense of humour and the sheer determination to make the most out of life?
This book has been inspired by Marie Thom’s popular Facebook page, Midlife Dramas in Pyjamas, and it’s her thousands of loyal followers that have encouraged her to write it. Smile, laugh and nod your head in recognition at what goes on within these pages. Read about her battles (many of which she’s lost) with clothes, body parts, restaurant furniture, shopping trolleys, the menopause and much more.
Midlife is the gift that keeps on giving and Marie has received it with both hands, begrudgingly embraced it, wholeheartedly laughed at it and now wishes to re-gift it…to you!
OMG... this had me crying, literally crying, with laughter. Marie has such a brilliant way with words, and she embroiders them into rip-roaring cures for the very states and situations that make menopause so tough. Thanks to this hilarious book along with her FB page of the same name, nothing is taboo anymore. We are comforted that, with our muffin tops, foggy minds and buggery bollocks hot flushes, we are not alone. Help is at hand with guffaws of laughter, several large cocktails and the knowledge that we're all in this together. There'll be many a Christmas stocking filled with this gem. Thank you for the tears, Marie (in my eyes, mostly)!
Now I’ve got my breath back! Where to start . If you’re easily offended ….tough, you don’t know what you’re missing.🤣🤣🤣. Such a laugh from start to finish. Loved the witty ditties and Mari’s version of well known songs….which you will find yourself singing out loud! The brilliant description of the daily Rituals & sufferings we have had to cope with or are still coping with are hilarious! I could go on but please do yourselves a favour & read the book. More please Mari.👍😂😂🤭🍷🍷xx
This is not a book to read like a novel. When you want a little giggle, open the book to any page and read a page or two. Reading straight through it is repetitive and you may begin to worry about her sobriety I felt I was reading the set of a stand up comic, yet there is no 'delivery' of the joke. I applaud her for writing it, but it was not for me.
Very funny, especially to us ladies of a certain age that can relate wholeheartedly. Poems, anecdotes and retelling of real life events had me crying laughing at times.
