There are two important things to know about Creep from the Deep before deciding whether or not to give it a read. The first is that this book is essentially Deep Trouble III, with Billy and Sheena Deep returning from Deep Trouble and Deep Trouble II from the classic original 62-book Goosebumps book series from the 1990s. The second thing is that the cover of this book is a complete lie; there is no sea monster like the one depicted on the cover of this book at any point in this story. This is a book about ghost skeleton pirates coming back from the dead, so if you're looking for a sea monster or kraken type of story, you'll be disappointed.

This story follows Billy and Sheena and their uncle Dr. Deep, as they travel on his boat and eventually get caught up in the treasure of a sunken pirate ship, the Scarlet Skull, that vanished into a mysterious black cloud in the 1780s. The same black cloud descends on the submarine they travel down to the ocean floor in, and when it clears Dr. Deep is gone (somehow? ... how do you disappear from a submarine that's hundreds of feet underwater?), leaving Billy and Sheena to try to find him as they also try to evade the dead pirates of the sunken ship, who are soon after them!

This one wasn't bad. It doesn't have the ridiculous overuse of the same two or three crutch words that R.L. Stine has been using since the 1990s and still uses in modern Goosebumps books like Slappy Beware, so I strongly suspect Stine did not write this book. It also doesn't have a ridiculous twist or terrible last chapter at the end, which are both trademarks of Stine. This is one of the best written Goosebumps books I've ever read, in terms of the writing itself, but the plot is all over the place. It's a hot mess. I can't really explain it, but I guess I would say it felt like there was too much going on. And the story wasn't really that great.

The last 30-or-so pages of these HorrorLand books are also not part of the main book's story. They are part of a larger, overarching story that spans all of the books involving the HorrorLand amusement park. I found that jarring, because after 100 pages of sea adventure and suspense, suddenly Billy and Sheena are now okay, and are at this amusement park? It just felt jarring and out of place. And the HorrorLand story segment wasn't that good. It was okay, but overall was a bit bland and uninteresting. I think I liked Goosebumps books more when they were each just one isolated story that could be read standalone. I don't think I like this larger HorrorLand story arc that's at the end of each book in this series, because it means you have to read them all to get the full picture of that.

Generally though, this one is very well written compared to most Goosebumps books I've read, but it's a bit of a mess and isn't anything particularly memorable. I only finished it yesterday and am already forgetting a lot of it, so it's a bit like a Fast and the Furious movie in that respect.

Don't judge a book by it's cover it is really about bloodthirsty pirates.

I had forgotten the format of the Horrorland books so when the second part rolled around I was thrilled. This was decent but wasn't anything like the cover would suggest. It's actually about Captain Ben and a group of bloodthirsty pirates. Normally I would enjoy a story about pirates but this read exactly like a Bone Chillers book. It seemed like the annoying main character always kept finding himself in spooky situations but there wasn't any real story development. The Horrorland stuff pretty much saved this from being a dud, and I loved the reference to Deep Trouble. This gets a 3/5 from me.

This is the first book that I finished reading this year and have no complaints. I really enjoy the Goosebumps series. It may be a bit childish but it's always adventurous & fun and sometimes that's all you need from a book!

This book is about a brother-sister duo Billy and Sheena. This is not the first time I am reading about them as they are the main characters in the book Deep Trouble. There was no reference to the previous book though and it was like reading a fresh story involving characters you already know.

As the name suggests the creep is from the deep that means it's some ocean time. The last story involving this duo was also based in the ocean and this one follows the same pattern.

The story started out good and there were lots of twists and turns and then the story came to a conclusive end or that's what I thought! But then the story started afresh at a different location and somehow this part felt disjointed. Not that it wasn't good on it's own but it somehow just didn't fit the pattern.

Still no complaints as it was a fun short read.

Billy and Sheena decide to spend the summer with their uncle Dr. D. He has a lot planned for them. The most exciting activity is finding a pirate ship that has been lost ever since it sinked. Billy and Sheena are very excited, but who would have guessed that their little adventure would take a bad turn. First thing gone bad, their uncle disappears. Then they are stranded on a weird island where skeletons are alive. And they are after them.

This was really fun to read. I love pirates and hidden treasures and everything creepy that R.L. Stine creates. This book had everything. The first story was a fast little tale of the two sibligns searching for their uncle and ending up findind a whole lot of trouble.

After Creep in the Deep is over we are back at Horrorland. Exactly where we left of. I didn't know how the Horrorland scene would play out, but Stine wrote the little stories at the end of each book as one big Horrorland story. Billy and Sheena go to Horrorland and there they find Britney and Molly, from the first book, exactly were we left them. I loved that we continued on with this story. A lot of things happened and we even met the main character of the next book. This story is the reason I am so excited. I can't wait to read more.

3.5 stars for the narration. He did a good job and I liked the music and effects.
3 stars for the main story. I liked the pirate plot. They were like zombies, but it wasn't cliche. Thought their chant was pretty unsettling sounding!
4 stars for the horror land story. It was kinda sinister for a kids story.

so all in all I will give 3.5/4 stars for this one!

This was the first Goosebumps book I’ve read from the Horrorland series and wow! It did not disappoint! The story felt a lot less juvenile than other Goosebumps books, in addition to what seemed like more descriptive and intricate writing. Quite scary, especially for those who aren’t a fan of large body’s of water! Lastly, I’m just going to ignore the Horrorland part at the end- that was completely unnecessary. Could have easily been skipped.

Good thing I didn’t have my heart set on sea creatures, like the cover would suggest, cause this was actually pirates. 😂 I also didn’t realize this was a sequel of sorts to the Deep Trouble books, which I haven’t read. I still enjoyed it though! The audio was a pretty fun time.

I gave it a 4 star because I preferred the first one but it was still very interesting and amusing. I liked how at the end the main character met someone from the previous book which was a cool twist.

Galen read on February 5, 2024

How many stars? “500 million thousand! With a little bit of creepy.”

“It was fun and scarier than Revenge of the Living Dummy. This one had more details than the other one. The scariest part was when the guys named Roger and Goldie we knew they were imposters when Goldie took off his mask and they were pirates. And captain Ben he took the treasure away from them for 200 years!”

This was interesting. Vaguely PotC-y. Don’t know what the cover image has to do with the story though… I’m glad Galen likes these.

I like the first two Deep Trouble books, though not essentially the best, there are just moments and some aspects on it that made me like the stories enough, while the third part of the saga is probably the best of all three and I will say that this is a better installment than the previous the two but not by much.

It has little new aspects into them like this is the first time the Deep Trouble saga deals with supernatural stuff that they play out in a more horrific way than a fantasy story like in the previous books which I do adore more, the zombie pirates in here are right up my alley but they're not that much in it as the main storyline is a little condensed for a Goosebumps story but I do like how more faster paced it is, it's just a fun enough story, not the best as with the previous Deep Trouble books which is just a fine and good romps.

So as a part of the Horrorland series, the main characters transitions to entering Horrorland, crossover with the characters from the first Horrorland book and I am now intrigued on how will this come out as it gets more interesting and starting to come along together.

Inhalt:

Zombiepiraten - Sommer - Geschwister

Wem empfehlen?

The Creep From The Deep is about two kids and a docter named Billy, Sheena, and Dr.D. These three are trying to find a sunken pirate ship, with millions of dollars in gold and jewels hidden in the ship. Billy's main external conflict is that he entered another world and now he is trying to survive. Billy's main internal conflict is that he has to look brave in front of his sister while he is trying to survive from dead pirates!

During reading this book, I made a Text-to-Text connection. Billy's external conflict reminds me of The Ironwood Tree, when when Jared has to protect his siblings and survive from evil goblins. They both have to take charge and protects their siblings. They both are growing up to be responsible and brave.

I would gladley rate this book five stars. This book is jawdropping and it will keep you on the edge of your seat with constant action. The best part is there was the perfect amount of talking not too much or to little. I recommend this book to people who loved scary and heartstopping action.

As I predicted, this book was not as good as the first one that I did a report on "Deep Trouble". Nothing could top it! And this one definitely did not come close to the expected bar. This book called "Creep from the Deep" by R.L. Stine is supposed to be like a sequel to the first one. Almost anyway. It made no references to the first book and was a completely different adventure with the same people on the sea again! It was a ok storyline compared to some others I have read. The siblings get on a submarine to look for a sunken ship with treasure on it, which some scientists say its there. They go a s it turns out they some up the skeletons there, because the legend says they are zombie skeletons and it is real! More endss up happenin, but I still don't a want to spoil. I recommend this book to people looking for a side book that is not their main book, which would be the last one I reported "Deep Trouble".

This is the second book in the Goosebumps HorrorLand series and although the cover is super cool, it doesn't match the story. At all.

When siblings, Billy and Sheena spend the summer on their uncle's boat, they're looking forward to a sea adventure. Especially Billy, who likes to pretend a lot. But then their uncle, Dr. Deep, goes missing during an expedition...

Well, I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would. I found the story to be as meh as the characters. There was something about this story that bugged the hell out of me, which made no sense because I usually like pirates. So, zombie pirates should've been right up my alley.

Yet, I didn't feel this aquatic tale. I actually enjoyed the HorrorLand shortie a lot more. It was creepy, fun, and even included Britney and Molly from the first instalment!

Another interesting horror land story. This is the second on the series and it's divided in two parts. The first is the story about two kids as they investigate a sunken ship. The boy has some wild imagination that turns out weren't that far from what was going to happen.
We've got zombie pirates and skeletons. Pretty cool. Ends with that open ending so many of his tales do. The second part is the continuation of the first novel in a horror park where strange stuff happens and people disappear and worse... It ends in a cliffhanger since I guess all novels in the series will add to this overachieving story

Stine erinnern mich and diese Bücher. Einfach gestrickt.

I'm NOT a Goosebumps fan, but my new commuting partner (middle school son) and I are taking turns selecting audiobooks, and this was his choice. I can see why R.L. Stine appeals to kids--he uses humor as well as creepiness and gross-outs. He definitely keeps the story moving, and while you can guess many of the twists and turns as an adult, they make for a fun story. The audio version was well done, and when they used special effects for a dead pirate chant, it was pretty creepy.

I mean this is fine. It’s not well written and kind of dumb(it is for kids), I just don’t enjoy these as much as expected. It’s just so simple and not creepy or scary at all(even for children). The audiobook was really good though! There was sound effects and music which was fun.

This book is awesome! At first (before I started reading) I thought that story would start where we ended in the 1. book (Goosebumps HorrorLand Revenge of the Living Dummy) but it was just a new story BUT when Billy and Shenna came to HorrorLand they met Britney and Molly (the girls from the 1. book) and I waited for the time when we see Britney and Molly.

Bill,Sheena, and Dr.D are back on a new sea adventure. If you liked my previous review for the book Goosebumps: Deep Trouble and read the book then you will this because of their similarities. However in this story shows more of his imagination than the first book like the time he was "fighting a electric eel."Another difference of this story from the last story is the amount of responsibility Billy and Sheena have to show when their uncle can't help them survive. I would like to see Billy and his family on an adventure in a different setting because I would like to see what creatures or enemies they would fight on land.
