Good but mostly self explanatory advice for living more in the moment and de-stressing your life. Nothing earth shattering, but an inspiring read nevertheless.

Some odd things which I don't really understand being included e.g. Getting a hobby. The insert pages with things like "SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PILLARS OF support" are a bit cheesy!

The Positively Present Guide to Life by Dani DiPirro
A review
The theory of Positive Psychology has recently regained popularity in the field of self-help and therapy, and is aimed at guiding people to live their lives with a more positive attitude in order to find contentment, but also to recognise happy moments and hold on to them.
Dani DiPirro’s book, ‘The Positively Present Guide to Life’ embraces this idea in an organised way which is easily accessible by the everyday reader.
The Introduction, although usually a fairly standard part of any book in which it presents, was I felt an integral part of this book in particular. Her story of how she reached her current position of ‘positively present’ in her personal quest to find happiness was inspirational, and I really related both to her journey and her destination. It was the Introduction that appealed to me enough to look further into ‘The Positively Present Guide to Life’ to explore Dani’s ideas and investigate how they might apply to my own life.
Dani DiPirro has a conversational and very readable style; her ideas are well-organised and their commitment to paper is subsequently easy to follow and understand.
‘The Positively Present Guide to Life’ is based around 6 underlying and essential principles for being ‘positively present’, which Dani DiPirro then applies to a further 5 main areas of life; at home, at work, in relationships, in love and during change. Interspersed with inspirational quotes, actions to complete and lots of ideas and suggestions that have worked for the author, this is an excellent read for anyone just starting out on the Positive Psychology route, or a reminder and reinforcement of existing knowledge and a reapplication to life.
The careful and well planned presentation makes the book much easier to follow and understand, and therefore more likely that the reader will continue to the end.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I received this book through the Goodread's Giveaways program.

I was not as pleased with this book as I anticipated I would be. Although the design and layout of the book might be appealing to others, I found the print was too small, and highlighted sections in turquise boxes with white text were all too difficult to read. These design flaws made it difficult to focus (pun not intended) on both the actual text and the messages the author was attempting to convey. As a result, it too me significantly to read than I had planned.

Content wise - there are some great ideas and concepts within the book. I wish that the author had taken time to elaborate more on many of her points. In some ways, I felt that the book was a collection of each chapter containing numerous sections, with each section being written in the fashion of a blog. While great for a blog, the format and lack of elaboration and development of ideas seemed less appropriate for a book.

This is not to say that others will not find value in this book. Individuals who love reading blogs, or those who are not voracious readers may find the book appealing. Furthermore,I thought that some of the content might be valuable for those therapists and clinicians to use as materials to be used with clientele, as several of the ideas and suggested aligned with cognitive behavioral approaches, relationship therapy, and depression/anxiety.

I had higher expectations for this book, which were unfortunately not met.

Just loved this kind of book about decluttering your mental stress, how to attain tranquility with home hobbies. Too often people dont find time for hobbies because they cannot let go of negative fears of change and break bad habits, its about making the change and being more positive, moving your shift in the way you perceive and experience our world

I received a free copy of the book via a Goodreads giveaway.

There are some good pieces of advice in here, but nothing new or Earth-shattering. If you've read some self-help works in the past you'll find a lot of the same ideas repeated. Change your attitude, change your life, etc.
There are some editing and cosmetic issues with the book. The fine font and the not-quite-black print made reading in low light a challenge for me (and I have good eye-sight). There are a few places where an editor should have caught a dropped word or strange turn of phrase.

Loved this book. I was not familiar with the author or the blog, so I'm doubly glad I was approved for review on NetGalley.

I thought this book was excellent. Well written, easy to read, and lots of fun to read. I found the book filled with great advice and ideas, which I've started to incorporate into my life.

5 star book for sure

Book is full of positivity which is great but kinda exhausting to always having to keep a "positive" outlook on everything in life. There are times when you need to allow the negativity cross your mind in order to understand the beauty that comes with learning the bad from the good.
Overall, the book is great and has some cool pointers or reminders of how to stay in a more positive mindset.

This is a cute book that is an easy read. It has great advice that you can easily implement into your life right away. I love that the goal isn't necessary happiness. It's explained in the book why that is, and it's very well said.

No he podido con él.

Abandonado.

I wanted to start off with something positive for the new year so this was a good choice but . . . I don't know, it was super simple and drags on and on. Very repetitive in my opinion.

I had a fun time reading this book. I found an enjoyable and worthwhile read, one that offers wisdom and ideas towards living a more positive life. As the name implies, the general idea of the book is that a person should try to focus on their present with a positive attitude, and try not to be negative about things that have occurred in their past or things that may or may not happen in their future.

The author discusses how one's outlook can have an influence on the life they live. One of the things I liked about her book was that she did not promise any quick-fix solutions. The steps she outlines in the chapters will take time for a person to implement, and the time frame may be different for everyone. However, the steps are one that anyone can use to work towards a more positive outlook.

Another thing I liked about what was written in the book was that having a "positively present" mindset does not mean not experiencing the normal ups and downs of life. Those are things everyone has to deal with, and it is not healthy for a person to avoid dealing negative feelings. I think she is quite credible in the point she makes because her ideas and beliefs come from direct experience, which is often the best teacher.

The book is broken into 5 chapters, one for five major areas of life:
1) Being positively present at home - This chapter discusses having/creating a positive living space at home. There are a number of ideas that can be implemented including changing decor, setting up a quiet place, and even having a hobby.
2) Being positively present at work - This chapter discusses dealing with challenging and negative personalities, making and focusing on what you enjoy in your job, and making the most of your time there.
3) Being positively present in relationships - This chapter focuses on non-romantic relation-ships, though the advice and ideas in this chapter can be carried over to those types as well. The reader will read about how effective communication helps, how it is okay to walk away from negative relationships, even if the person is a family member, and to learn to set healthy boundaries and say no sometimes.
4) Being positively present in love - This chapter discusses building a solid relationship starts with loving yourself. This is the solid base for any long lasting and loving relationships. Also discussed here is to keep the romantic butterflies fluttering, and if a relationship ends, how to deal with it in a positive manner.
5) Being positively present during change - Everyone goes through change, and for many people, this is a very fearful thing to deal with. This chapter discusses dealing with change in a positive way, trying to break bad habits, and changing your attitude.

All in all, this is a amazing book for anyone to read who wants to work on having a more positive outlook in one's life. While this is a book that is I found to be a quick read, people with some eye trouble may find it difficult to read the side notes on some of the pages. They are written in white lettering on a light blue background, and I found the words at time difficult to read unless I was directly underneath a bright light bulb. With that said, I really enjoyed this book and would most certainly recommend it.
