I share a perfect kiss with a handsome stranger…only to find out that he’s my brother’s best friend.

New Orleans is an exciting new start for me. When I’m not in my lab working on my project, I’m determined to enjoy all the city has to offer. That’s how I ended up at a party hosted by the Fury Brothers.

That’s how I ended up kissing Reath Fury. Six-feet something of dark, handsome, and gorgeous.

When Reath finds out I’m the little sister of his best buddy from the military, he’s not happy.

But then I get attacked in my lab. Someone is after my project. Did I mention I have top-secret military funding? Turns out some very bad people plan to auction my work to the highest bidder.

Now Reath vows to keep me safe. The former CIA agent gives new meaning to the words overprotective and bossy. But spending every hour of the day together makes it impossible to keep our hands off each other.

We agree to keep it our little secret—all sex, no emotions allowed.

But the criminal after my project has a history with Reath, and he’s out for revenge. My brother’s best friend, the man who tells me he doesn’t do love, is the only one who can protect me.

And the only one who can break my heart.

The Fury fierce, loyal, and live by their own code
Five men who grew up in foster care and became brothers by choice. They vow to always have each other’s no questions, no doubts, no hesitation. They protect their own…always.

I love me a smart and feisty FMCs, and Frankie is definitely one of those. I mean, a microbiologist and has a brown belt in judo? Definitely the best FMC in this series. I still don't know what to rate this honestly, because I only enjoyed it thanks to Frankie.

As for the romance, sorry, but it was so meh. There's no chemistry or spark, and everything moved so fast and got me confused. I didn't feel the attraction or understand why they felt that at all. It was so lackluster—for the lack of better words.

Then we had the suspense that initially was about the attempt to steal the project Frankie's working on but then became about Reath and the villain's revenge against him because he unalive his wife.

Ngl, I was more invested in the comeuppance of the bad man than the romance (if you can even call that) depicted here. All they ever had was physical attraction, and every problem, misunderstanding, or unpleasant situation ended up with them in the sheets (or to the nearest surface possible). Even the smut didn't work, it was so uninteresting. 🫠

Also, poor Frankie, this girl deserves a freaking break. 😭 I've lost count of the number of times she got almost abducted; 4 (or 5) attempts were too much, no? Good for her that the Judo training and levelheadedness she has (and Reath's effort) paid off, and she was always successful with escaping. But still, why the author thinks multiple kidnapping attempts (with violence) against the FMC were fun to read is so beyond me. Then again, this is romantic suspense, so I guess that's the purpose of those failed attacks. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, like I said, I only enjoyed this because of Frankie. I love that she was strong and didn't let her attackers win at every chance. I enjoyed her fighting them off and eventually winning against men who are twice her size. She didn't need any men because she can successfully handle almost everything on her own, but I'm also glad that she knows when to accept help and be grateful for it.

Overall, if readers are looking for off-the-charts chemistry and swoony romance, I don't think they would find it here. It was so underwhelming, I wish I was joking. 🫣 I was so bored with their interactions. 😭 But if they're more into suspense and a kickass FMC, then they might enjoy this.

Book info:
- Romantic suspense
- Brother's best friend / Best friend's sister (although this only mattered at the last 5% of the story)
- Violence, death
- Drinks spiking
- Unaliving
- Badass FMC
- Forced proximity
- No cheating, OPD, separation
- No V (no history on either of them)
- HFN (in a relationship 🙃)
- Bonus epilogue (15 mos later, engaged)

Take is the thrilling fourth installment in Anna Hackett's Fury Brothers series, a captivating blend of romantic suspense and adventure. The story revolves around a tight-knit group of alpha males who have forged a brotherhood from humble beginnings.

These fiercely loyal men are not just committed to building their own lives but are also dedicated to loving and respecting the women who capture their hearts. Each of them is caught off guard when they find their soulmate, a discovery that brings unexpected joy and challenges.

When one of their own faces a dangerous threat, the entire group rallies together, exhibiting their unbreakable bond as they confront and dismantle the menacing forces against them. The narrative is rich with exhilarating action sequences, sizzling chemistry between characters, intense tension, and a gripping plot full of intrigue, drama, and peril.

Though some elements of the storyline might feel familiar or predictable, I find myself completely engrossed in the experience of rereading this series, relishing each emotional twist and turn. series. series.

Narration: 4.5⭐️
Rating: 4⭐️
Spice: 2🌶

Given his past of being abandoned as a kid, the things he'd had to endure in foster care, the things he'd seen in the military, and then as a CIA agent had convinced Reath Fury that he didn't deserve love. That if he didn't love anyone or let anyone in, then he wouldn't be disappointed or get hurt. The way Reath was truly confused and taken aback that Frankie was worried about him and his safety broke my heart because this man truly never had someone who worried about him apart from his brothers. Especially knowing how Reath has always taken charge and looked out for his brothers and their partners without a second thought about himself. Even with Frankie, he was willing to go to whatever lengths he needed to in order to keep her safe. We also get Reath's recounting of his time in their last foster home, where he and the others forged a bond and eventually escaped.

Frankie was a headstrong character, and I truly liked her determination and strength. The way she held her own even in dangerous situations but was also open to asking for help when she knew she needed it. Honestly, reading about how she not only fought to save herself but also others was something I loved because I truly love it when the FMCs don't wait around to be saved but do the saving instead. I loved that she didn't let the men after her break her spirit, and she kept fighting till the very end. Given the way she lost her father at such a young age and seeing how that broke her mother had strengthened her resolve of never giving any man that kind of power over her. Especially someone like Reath, who kept putting his life at risk for a living, just like her brother.

The thing that irked me, however, was how she kept focusing on needing to work on her research when things were so dangerous for her and her safety was on the line, especially because it's not like she had made any progress. She was only just starting out with the research, so the constant emphasis on needing to get back to it while all this chaos was going on seemed a bit much.

The romance aspect was what threw me off because it felt too instant and didn't have any buildup to feel a real connection between these two. The brother's best friend aspect also didn't seem to play a vital role until the last 5% of the book. I wish there had been some history to back up their current connection or chemistry or whatever so it seemed more genuine that they felt this strongly this quickly for each other. Also, every dangerous or life-threatening situation ended up in them fucking for reassurance that the other was okay, and I wish that there was a bit more conversation between them to make us feel that they had a deeper connection. Despite this, the spice was still very hot if the romance was taken out of the picture.

Both Frankie and Reath had character growth, with both initially wanting nothing to do with love or relationships due to their respective pasts but eventually letting each other in. Frankie made Reath see that he mattered, that he was worth being loved and chosen, and that the actions of his parents abandoning him didn't define him. Reath made Frankie put her heart on the line and open herself up to love even though she was terrified of it.

The suspense aspect that started with Frankie being targeted for the government-funded project she was working on, which then took a very personal turn when the person after Frankie turned out to have bad blood with Reath in the past, was a really good turn of events. I was hooked with how the bad guy kept toying and playing games with Reath and how he and Frankie worked together through it all.

Once again, I love the Fury brothers and how they always have each other's backs. Though they aren't blood related, the bond they share is something I truly love and admire. I love the way they make each other see reason when it comes to following their heart and opening themselves up to love.

I also loved how their women were so involved in the book and how they welcomed Frankie and made her feel so comfortable.

Also, I can't wait to read Beau's book after this.

Series: Fury Brothers #4
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

New Orleans is a new start for Frankie. She is setting up a new lab to work on her government funded project and is determined to enjoy the city. When she ends up at a party hosted by the Fury Brothers she finds herself sharing a kiss with a handsome stranger, only to find out later that he was her brother's best friend, Reath Fury.

This was an enjoyable and action packed story. Frankie was a smart, confident, and determined woman who wasn't afraid to stand up for herself. I really liked her from the very beginning. When things start going down and she finds herself in danger, she calls for help but also fights back. She has a brown belt and actually uses it.

Reath is a protective and closed off man. He spent his childhood bouncing around foster homes until he met his brothers and didn't let anyone in because of it. He doesn’t think he needs or wants a relationship, but having Frankie crash into his life changes that. I liked Reath and how protective he was, especially since he didn’t get overbearing with it.

These two had instant attraction and a lot of chemistry. Their relationship starts as a brief fling to try and get their lust out of the way before they focus back on work, but that doesn’t stick. With each dangerous moment these two grow closer together and quickly realize they don’t want it to end. Their relationship was enjoyable and I liked how they learned to lean on each other with each situation that came up.

Overall, this was a fast paced story with lots of action and a great romance. I really enjoy these brothers and look forward to seeing the next one fall.

My Review:

Take was such a fun quick read and exactly what I needed. This is what I like about Anna Hackett, when I need to get through a book quickly, she truly delivers. And I saw this cover and I was intrigued. From the moment that I started reading this one, I was completely hooked. I loved their meet cute and even though this was last in a series, I didn't experience an issue on it. It only made me intrigued to read the other siblings books. This is a story that sucks you in pretty quickly. This has a good blend of elements to it that just seemed to really work for me. I really adored the way that this story built and the combination of tropes that is implemented. We see some great bonds of family between the brothers and I truly adored seeing that within this story. Our hero is a protective warrior, he runs a security service and when our heroine finds herself in danger, he helps protect her from enemies that want to take away her work and project. Reath was so delightful and I loved how firm he was with Frankie. She is a bit obsessive with her science stuff though, I just wanted to tell her to chill out lol You life is kinda in danger, maybe act the part. But if you love STEM heroines, than she is definitely one for you.

Overall I had a fun time with Heath and Frankie and can't wait to explore of this series here.

They chose to call themselves Fury because that’s what they were when they bonded. All five – at that point VERY young men were in foster care. They were all, individually and collectively, furious at their treatment in the foster home when they met and bonded.

Because their so-called carer was a man who liked to take young male foster kids and break them. He enjoyed beating them to a pulp – because he could. Reath was his special target, because Reath was the youngest and smallest of the quintet – and because he was black and pretty.

But a man who can beat up and beat down one kid can’t necessarily take on five absolutely furious young men who have no one and nothing but each other. Together, Dante, Colton, Kavner, Beauden and Reath got back a whole lot of their own and left – bonded together and filled with fury.

Fast forward a whole lot of years. Those boys are now very successful men – not in spite of what they came from but because of it – and because of each other.

As the saga of the Fury Brothers and the piece of New Orleans they claim as their own has shown, Dante (Fury), Colt (Keep), Kavner (Burn) and now Reath have each been chased down and pretty much ambushed by love – in spite of every single one of them so far proclaiming to all and sundry that love is the last thing they need or deserve. Ever.

Reath Fury is not going to be the exception – no matter how much he thinks he is. He’s not going to be exempted from his brothers’ ribbing him about it, either.

Or, as it turns out, her brother’s – even though the “bro code” is one of the biggest things Reath thinks is standing in the way of any possible relationship between himself and his best friend’s all-too-grown-up little sister.

But Frankie Parker isn’t going to let the ‘bro code’, her overprotective brother, or even a whole gang of mercenaries led by Reath’s literal worst enemy keep her from what she has set her sights on.

Her first goal is to keep her genius biochemistry project out of the hands of anyone who would turn it to terrible ends. Her second goal is to get a reluctant Reath Fury to admit that not only does he have a heart – but that it is already all hers.

Escape Rating B: Take returns to what seems to be the standard pattern for the Fury Brothers series. There is nothing wrong with patterns, they can work very well. Tropes exist for a reason, after all.

The pattern in this series is that the female protagonists start the story out already in trouble – even if, as is the case of Frankie Parker in this story – she doesn’t know it yet. And she should have – or at least have considered the possibility.

It is possible that Frankie simply hasn’t read nearly enough science fiction, or seen enough of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because she’s had her nose to the grindstone concentrating on her work. Her genius project – and it absolutely is a genius project – screams “super soldier serum” at high decibel volume with a whole phalanx of flying bullets to go with it.

Which is where Reath comes in. Frankie is in trouble. There really are some very bad people out to get her, to take her research – AND her – and sell both to the highest bidder. Because every villain in every world wants to make super soldiers and her project is a shortcut to that particular hellish road.

Reath and Frankie both have reasons for not wanting to get involved. Both have done their damndest to put their hearts on ice and both have succeeded at that terrible ambition entirely too well – except where their respective siblings are concerned.

But as has happened in the rest of this series, Frankie needs protection and Reath can’t seem to resist providing that protection. Then again, he can’t resist Frankie, either, and the feeling is very, very mutual.

They just have to get the villains out of the way first. Which turns out to be a bit more of a challenge than Reath and the rest of his brothers imagined. But they still get the job done.

As much as I liked the characters, and I adore the New Orleans setting, there were a couple of things in this story that tripped me up a bit. As I said, I found it a bit difficult to believe that Frankie didn’t know that her project was obviously capable of being weaponized even if that was not her intention. Likewise, the replacement lab where the climactic kidnapping took place was a screamingly obvious set up.

(Maybe I’ve read too much science fiction. Nah…)

So, a couple of things in this one didn’t quite work for me, but I had a good reading time and I still very much enjoy the series as a whole. Which is a good thing, as there’s one Fury brother – and therefore one book – left in the series. Claim, presumably Beauden Fury’s story, is coming in October. And then the author is on to the book I’ve been waiting for all year, the (still untitled) start of her next Sci-fi Romance series. I can’t wait!

This ARC was provived to me by the author and I wanna thank her for it:

I loved this way more than I thought I would. It was smaller than I was expecting too but no less good.
Seeing Frankie and Reath trying to fight their attraction was something else. Feelings weren't suppose to be involved but they couldn't help how they felt.
I liked Frankie a lot. She wasn't a hopeless woman in danger, she fought back and she fought hard. She wasn't afraid to tell Reath what was up and I liked that too.
Reath had never known love until her. He loved his brothers and their families but it was diferent with Frankie. He was so much himself, he didn't hide as much and he was genuinely happier with her around.
I loved them together, they fit each other so well

Wonderful characters

I love all the characters in this series. This book has the strong characters I enjoy, some great suspense and action scenes, and the happy ending I need. I don't enjoy the steamy scenes and this book seemed to be heavy with those, but I easily skip those. It's a very entertaining book!

Swoon worthy

This author is fast becoming one of my favorites. These Fury brother are absolutely outstanding.
Reath and Frankie have this off the charts chemistry from the get go. A protective hero that will do anything for his lady love.
Only one more brother to go and I am so excited but I’ll also be sad to see the last of this tight knit group.

Super fast-paced brother's best friend trope. I love the found family aspect of this book.
It felt insta-lovish to me. That isn't my favorite trope, but overall, the book kept me entertained. I think I'll go back and read the other books in this series as I am intrigued.

Amazon

Reath's best friend has asked him to watch over his sister Francesca, but she hasn't been answering his calls. Since she's been dodging him, he's about to go see her face to face. But what's a protective guy to do when he finds out the beautiful woman he kissed and can't get off his mind is said sister? Well, do what Jack asked and protect her when it becomes obvious someone is after her. And perhaps give his heart to her along the way...

Frankie's project and research has life changing possibilities, and someone with not so honorable intentions seems intent on taking it for themselves. She's got her brother's best friend for protection, but what of her heart? Reath doesn't do love of the romantic kind, and Frankie isn't sure she can be in such close proximity to the man without falling for him. So a no feelings allowed thing will have to do, and she'll just have to keep her feelings to herself.

I knew as soon as Reath and Frankie laid eyes on each other that they'd fall in love. And they did, quickly. But the journey there was fast-paced, action-packed, and seriously delicious. Reath is the quiet Fury, but you know what they say about the quiet ones...they've got a lot going on beneath the surface, and boy did Reath! Like his brothers, he had emotional baggage from his time in foster care, and it had given him the idea that love wasn't for him. Then a smart af, strong Frankie came along and in short time, blew that idea out of the water. Though their story is definitely insta-love, it feels natural and the two of them so deserved that love they found with each other. Beau's story, Claim, is next, and I'm not sure I can wait until October for it.

Huge plot mistakes and felt very rushed.

I’m trying not to repeat what I’ve put for the other books, but it’s virtually the same book as the other three! Woman in danger, has no friends in area or family, and doesn’t have a life. Man doesn’t want a relationship, tells her over and over it’s just sex, till pretty much the end of the book. There’s huge plot mistakes. One of them is Reath’s electric car that he NEVER charges, and never has to. He just always gets in it and it’s charged and ready to go!! No clue how old Reath is, or his best friend Jack who is the older brother of Frankie. Frankie is working on a top secret DARPA project that has NO security on it, even though the army are well aware of what her project is, and how dangerous it could be.

Francesca/ Frankie is the younger sister of Jack who is best friends with Reath. Jack asks Reath to look out for her as she’s moved to New Orleans, Reath is annoyed when Frankie won’t answer his calls so they don’t meet up. When they first meet they don’t know who each is and share a passionate kiss. When they realise they vow to not cross any lines.

Frankie is working with DARPA to create a TOP SECRET medical application that will help the armed forces. When it becomes obvious that Frankie is in danger, and bad people want what she’s designing, Reath takes her to his house to protect her. At this point in the book Frankie has already told Reath EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of her top secret creation, then she goes to Sunday dinner with the family and tells ALL OF THEM TOO! Does she know what top secret means?

Of course as they are living together, they start having sex, just sex. Of course they fall in love with each and yet again I’ve no clue how! They never talk to each other, they have no clue about each other really, apart from they fancy each other. The sex scenes aren’t good yet again. He basically just ‘slips it in her.’ Authors words not mine. 🤮

At only 217 pages long it seemed really rushed and the danger is over way too fast. It is really exciting in parts but it’s over way too quick, and is really disappointing. I’m sorry but I found this book really lacking. Missing details, plot mistakes and rushed sex scenes spoilt the whole book. I felt I was being told by the author that they’re madly in love but I didn’t believe it.

Francesca (Frankie) Parker is a very accomplished scientist who recently moved to New Orleans to work on a project for the government as she earns her PHD.
I love a smart and sassy heroine, and Hackett did not disappoint with Frankie! I really appreciated how dynamic she was as a character. Frankie is set on changing the world- she is genuine, kind, and wants to make a positive difference in the world. Unbeknownst to her, there are some really bad guys that want to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Reath Fury is asked to look after his best friend's little sister, however, he didn’t expect her to be so beautiful or smart with the right amount of sass to get his blood pumping! Reath definitely thinks that he does not have time or room for romantic love like his brothers have. His past trauma really impacts him and his view of love and family. Reath is the quiet driven but reliable brother, and his brothers are more than happy to reciprocate. As soon as Frankie catches Reath’s eye it is game over, and he cannot get her off his mind.
Frankie and Reath really try hard to deny their feelings, but it is clear as day to everyone around them that the feelings they have for one another are very strong. The suspense in this book was amazing with a perfect mix of relationship building. I felt that the pacing was perfect! There weren’t any slow chapters for me. I read this in one sitting; I could not put it down! While Frankie and Reath built their relationship the Fury brother stuck their noses into Reath’s business and gave him plenty of brotherly love and banter. It was obvious to the Fury brothers that Frankie was Reath’s and they welcomed her with open arms along with their fierce ladies they adore. While Frankie’s brother was not on page it is clear that both Reath and Frankie have a lot of respect and love for him; and when we finally did meet I loved their interactions. If you love a book with a lot of on page suspense, sassy & intelligent heroines, a super supportive loving found family, the brothers best friend trope then this definitely needs to be on your TBR list! I have thoroughly enjoyed the Fury brothers series, and I will be so sad when it’s over!

Anna Hackett’s Take (Fury Brothers #4) is an interracial romantic suspense novel about Black security expert Reath Fury and scientist Francesca Park, who share an intense attraction at first sight from across the room at a party. Francesca and Reath share a kiss—unaware she’s his military BFF’s sister he’s agreed to look out for. Reath and Francesca say the kiss is a mistake after learning each other’s identities.

But when dangerous people attack her and attempt to steal her top-secret research from her lab to auction it off to the highest bidder, Reath takes her into protective custody to keep her safe. Being forced into close quarters together makes it difficult to resist their powerful attraction and desire. So, they agree to no-strings, no emotions sex. When they discover the thief is Reath’s former adversary who wants revenge, things become personal. Reath doesn’t believe he needs love, but what happens when one—or both—of them catches feelings?

Hackett’s down-to-earth, just-the-facts sparse writing style isn’t overly flowery but vivid and descriptive without wasting words. Her skilled characterization and detailed, efficient world-building draws you into the novel from the first scene and keeps you turning the pages. The novel is suspenseful and action-packed with well-constructed action and fight scenes and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Abandoned as a baby and raised in foster care, Reath owns a security firm. Ex CIA and former military, Reath is closed off, focused, intense, a skilled investigator, fighter, scarred because of how his life started and trauma from experiences in foster care. He’s determined to keep her safe and walk away, believing it’s best for her. Francesca is a courageous, resilient fighter who can defend herself and others. She’s intelligent, stubborn, sassy, fearless, independent, and, like Reath, she’s not looking for love. She’s focused on her work and uninterested in entanglements with men because love is too risky—something she learned from her childhood. But Reath makes her feel safe, and she realizes from their time together she easily could fall for him.

Despite knowing they shouldn’t get involved at all—even casually—their desire and attraction is too strong to resist. So, Reath and Francesca agree to keep things casual and secret. But as they spend time together getting to know one another, they inevitably catch feelings. Reath and Francesca are likable, relatable, sympathetic, and complex characters that Hackett deftly develops through tension- and spark-filled steamy, emotional, sexy, funny, banter, interactions, and intimate love scenes. I love how she increases the emotional intimacy and intensity of their love scenes to reflect their deepening connection and feelings for each other as they grow closer. She also portrays them beginning to rely on each other emotionally, which is important for their character evolution and development—Reath’s especially.

Steamy, emotional, and sexy, Take is a thrilling, action-packed, suspenseful, and fast-paced novel. Written in dual, first-person POV, Take is a stand-alone in the Fury Brothers series that can be read separately. Hackett provides background for the brothers’ backstory, relationships, and earlier novels. However, the characters from previous books feature prominently in Take, and past occurrences are discussed.

Thanks to Anna Hackett and The Author Agency for the ARC.

Synopsis:

Review
Frankie and Reath have instant chemistry for sure. Anna knows how to pack a brisk, action- romance featuring uniformed/former military men in just over 200 pages with absolute ease!

I'd say it's more insta-love, even though they try to deny it lol, but we all know how they feel very early on about one another. Action hits very fast but it keeps the threat always moving and we don't wanna leave our couple and inevitably care about them.

The found family and brother bond I think is some of my favorite parts to the series as a whole too. I'm especially excited to learn more about Beau in the next installment!

If you want a quick read with instantly likable characters, with some light hearted moments, action, and "band of brothers" feel, you can always get a solid one from Anna!

This book had me completely HOOKED from the very first page!
★★★★★

Take by Ana Hackett is everything I could ask for in a steamy, action-packed romance! From the moment I met Reath Fury, I was DONE FOR. Six-feet-something of pure, brooding alpha energy? Yes, please! The way Reath and the FMC (his best friend’s little sister!) start off with that perfect, sizzling kiss before everything gets all complicated—SWOON.

I adored the chemistry between these two. It’s intense, it’s electric, and it practically jumped off the page. The moment Reath finds out she’s his best buddy’s sister, the tension just ratchets up, and I was living for it. Not only do they have to navigate their undeniable attraction, but when danger strikes and she’s attacked in her lab, things go from zero to a hundred SO fast. I loved every second of it!

Reath takes “protective” to a whole new level, and their forced proximity had me grinning and blushing the entire time. His whole “no love, just lust” attitude? Yeah, that didn’t last long! The emotions between them build beautifully amidst all the suspense, and when they finally gave in to those feelings? Perfection!

And the action? OH MY GOSH. Hackett knows how to write heart-pounding scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat. The fact that Reath’s old enemy is after them, out for revenge, had me turning pages late into the night. The stakes are high, the romance is sizzling, and the storyline is just SO good.

If you’re a fan of protective alphas, high-octane action, and all the spicy goodness that comes with a brother’s best friend trope, then Take is an absolute must-read! I seriously couldn’t put this one down and can’t wait for more from the Fury Brothers!

Action, Mystery & Romance
Reath Fury is living the life he dreamed of as an abandoned child in foster care. He and his fellow “foster care brothers” are now adults living the American dream. Through education and perseverance, they are all extremely successful. With Reath’s military and CIA background, he gravitated to security. Reath operates the very successful Phoenix Security Services in New Orleans. I LOVE THAT the Fury brothers created a compound for their businesses and homes in an old abandoned downtown warehouse area in New Orleans. There they share companionship and safety and as they find their mates the families share the love and success, they all worked hard for.
Reath’s best friend Jack Parker is still working dangerous secret missions all over the world, so he asks Reath to watch over his little sister who is just moving to New Orleans. Francesca “Frankie” Parker is a brainiac scientist with a new secret government contract, a project that bad people are interested in acquiring, along with Frankie. Reath has his hands full protecting Frankie. Reath is also fighting a losing battle to keep his hands off Frankie. These two have a real HOT connection. Reath fights their attraction until the end but thank heavens he gives in because they were made for each other. THIS IS MY FAVORITE FURY STORY with all the Fury brothers involved along with their ladies, cruising around exciting New Orleans, and action and romance that never stop. Linda

I really enjoyed this latest installment in the Fury Brothers series by Anna Hackett. Take is an action-packed story that kept me hooked from start to finish. The protagonist, Frankie, is a smart, confident, and determined woman who isn't afraid to stand up for herself. I found her to be a very compelling and likable character.

One of the highlights for me was the strong chemistry between the main characters. Their interactions are filled with tension and humor, which made their romance all the more enjoyable to read. I also loved seeing more of the bond between the Fury brothers - their close-knit family dynamic is a great addition to the series.

While Take has its fair share of suspenseful moments, I felt it maintained a good balance with the romantic storyline. The romance unfolds amidst the thrilling events, creating an engaging and fun love story that kept me turning the pages.

As a fan of the Fury Brothers series, I appreciated how Take continues to build on the established themes and characters. It was satisfying to see the ongoing development of the characters and their relationships. However, I think the book also works well as a standalone for readers new to the series.

Overall, I'd give Take 4 out of 5 stars. It's an enjoyable, action-packed romance that delivers on suspense and strong character dynamics. I'd recommend it to fans of the Fury Brothers series, as well as anyone looking for a thrilling and entertaining contemporary romance novel.

Oh those Fury brothers serve up hot, spicy romance every time. This time round it's former army veteran, former CIA spy and current security firm owner, Reath, to get the girl!

Frankie and Reath have a hot and heavy lip lock when they first meet but once they realise who the other is they resolve to never do that again (yeah right!) But genius scientist Frankie has some dangerous adversaries after her and her breakthrough tech. They'll just have to get through Reath first!

This may be insta-love/attraction but these two do know OF each other for years and did meet when Frankie was an awful lot younger. The chemistry between them is flaming hot and Frankie is no damsel in distress. She's quite capable of getting herself out of some sticky situations, she's just a tad too independent on occasion and gets in over her head, lol.

I love the strong found/created family vibes with these former foster brothers. They are always each others strongest allies and will drop everything for family. Once again Daisy is stealing every scene she is in, the kid is cuteness overload.

Quicker read but fully fleshed story, emotional aware characters and some epic banter. No elevator scene in this book but there is a flaming hot couch scene!

Yeah, very happy to be back with the Fury brothers - now it's Reath Fury and he didn't disappoint. The FMC, Frankie, gave him a total run for his money though, which I just loved!

Genre: Romantic suspense.
Tropes: Military, protector MMC x scientist FMC, brother's best friend, found family.
Trigger warnings: Kidnapping, abusive foster family (references), law enforcement/military action.

Action-packed, suspenseful, quick read and fast paced - this was another great Fury story, and I loved being back with the whole gang again. The brothers, the closeness, the women embracing and accepting everyone - it was all such a great found family I adored so much.

Reath fell so hard and fast, but his childhood trauma kept him in denial. I really felt for him and it was very emotional getting his POV. Frankie was his perfect match; she was sassy, smart, feisty and really stood her ground. She wasn't deterred by Reath's determination to keep it physical, and I really loved how she let him be him while also giving him a safe place to be vulnerable and talk about it all.

They really were a great match. They worked so well together and I really enjoyed seeing them have a meet cute and actual chemistry and connection before they realized their relation. It solidified their bond even further, and made the tension brewing later on, even more delicious.

The story itself was filled with suspense, that was simmering all throughout the book - just when I thought they could have a calm moment, something else happened. I really enjoyed how it was explored and resolved. Though it was a quick read, I still felt like I got to know the characters, believed their connection and was very intrigued by the suspense plotline. It really balanced the non-stop suspense with the romance building. Just great!

Reath and Frankie

This was a quick, fast paced read. There was plenty of action and suspense, and a good mix of romance. I loved the push and pull between Frankie and Reath. I loved that they both fought their attraction. It was definitely a book I found hard to put down.

Reath Fury was an enigma. In the previous books he’s been featured in the only thing I knew about him was that he was the youngest Fury brother and he owned a security company after retiring from the CIA. As a main character he was still a little bit of a mystery but I liked getting a little more perspective on his past. It seemed fitting that he would unintentionally fall for his best friend’s sister who was just as much of a workaholic as he was.

Frankie was the perfect match for Reath, who claimed he didn’t want or need love. She was smart and funny and driven. She was feisty and stubborn and strong. She had no interest in a relationship, but Reath altered her world just as much as she altered his.

I loved getting glimpses of the other Fury brothers and their partners. The family they created keeps growing but it doesn’t change their connection to each other. I can’t wait to see what happens with Beau next. The last single Fury brother!

Take is my first trip to New Orleans with Anna Hackett and it is everything that city proposes to be...a little dangerous, a little scandalous, and an all around good time. Plus a big found family is always one of my favorites.

I liked Frankie. She was smart and bold and passionate about her work. So much so that she wasn't going to let anything, even someone trying to steal her project, from getting the job done. Thankfully Reath, her brother's best friend, was able to step up and in to try and get to the bottom.

It didn't hurt that he couldn't keep his eyes off her. Or his hands, no matter how much he tried. The chemistry between these two was electric. If only they would let themselves really sink into it and have it. Especially when its revealed who is behind the chaos and it hits a little too close to home.

It was a race against time to try and find and stop the blast from Reath's past who is holding a major grudge and now taking it out on Frankie. I was reading as fast as my eyes would let me to see just how everything would play out. And while I would've liked a little more of Frankie and Reath together outside of the mayhem, I'm looking forward to seeing them again as the series continues.

Former spy and all around protective dude, Reath is up and his special someone is his best friend's sister. Honestly, the best friend's sister thing isn't their biggest hurdle. I mean Frankie has VERY BAD PEOPLE trying to get their hands on her work and that's way more life changing than accidentally kissing someone who knows your brother, if you ask me.

Still, Reath and Frankie shared a scorching kiss before they knew who the other was. Then they got thrown together when Frankie ended up in the crosshairs of the bad guys and forced proximity is GLORIOUS, isn't it? At least it is with these two. The only downside is every time they think Frankie's safe things take a turn.

Which does NOT make Reath happy. He's a security specialist, after all, and his business is keeping people safe. Yet the bad guys keep getting too close and both Frankie and her work are in danger.

A big project that could do a lot of good, a bad guy who is making things personal, the brothers dropping everything to help when needed, a man who will do anything to keep his special someone safe, and a lady who knows a good thing when she sees it. GOOD TIMES!

Frankie, has moved to New Orleans, she is there to work on a project that is being funded by DARPA. She is determined to make her invention work as it will be helpful to soldiers and civilians. But things take a dangerous turn when someone tries to kidnap her.

Reath, is a former soldier and ex CIA agent. He spent his childhood going from one foster home to the next, until his put in the home with his brothers. They all share an unbreakable bond, they love and protect each other like no other.

When Reath is asked to take care of his best friend's sister, he isn't happy, he runs a security firm and doesn't have time to be a babysitter, that is until he meets Frankie and it's instant chemistry from the get go. These two form an amazing bond and even though they draw a line on not having a relationship, lines start blurring and they both fall hard.

The suspense weaved in had me hooked and on edge.
...can't wait for Beau's book 🩷

I love romantic suspense. This is my second Anna Hackett book and she is rapidly becoming one of my favorite romantic suspense authors.

Take is the fourth book in this series and I love interconnected standalones where we get glimpses of the other books characters. The Fury brothers are ride or die and that comes through during the course of the story.

This book is a brother’s best friend trope with two workaholics who think they don’t have time for love and don’t need it. Frankie and Reath have an instant connection and are brought closer through the danger Frankie finds herself in through her work. Sparks fly as they become closer and realize what they mean to each other.

Reath is a perfect protective hero and Frankie is a strong FMC who is tenacious and kicks booty. This girl has fight and I loved how she was not helpless and held her own when the occasion called for it.

And when Jack, Frankie’s brother finds out about her and Reath? Ha! Loved it!

This was a fun, action packed read with some spice. Recommend!
