Knotty Omegas #2

Knot Their Cup of Tea

Rate this book
Destiny . Destiny Duvalle has it money, fame, millions of adoring fans, and loving parents who have managed her music career since she broke into the business at age sixteen. But at twenty-four, Destiny is tired of the hustle and bustle of celebrity life, of constantly being “on”, of being international popstar Destiny Duvalle. It’s why she’s turned down proposals from so many packs—that and her sneaking suspicion that her omega instincts are broken. If she’s being honest, Destiny is afraid that without her fame and fortune, her parents (and everyone else) will see the real her and find her woefully inadequate.

After a long and successful tour, she’s looking forward to heading home for the holidays and having some time to think. Unfortunately, her mother books her one more gig—a quick private performance for the Avondalian royal family…including the crown prince and his pack. Destiny knows Pack Stepanov’s roguish reputation and has no intention of falling for their charms. But suddenly her omega instincts seem very much intact and they did not get the memo.

Xander . Prince Alexander Stepanov is a screw up. He knows it, his pack knows it, his family knows it, and his people know it. Public opinion is that he’s not fit to lead and Xander secretly agrees. He’s never wanted the throne and its responsibilities. As much as he loves the people of Avondale, he hates all the politics of ruling. But as time passes and his inevitable ascendancy looms, Xander knows he’s running out of time to shape up and prove his worth.

When his drunken escapades lead to a meet-not-so-cute with gorgeous popstar Destiny Duvalle, Xander is annoyed to discover she’s the one woman who seems totally immune to his charms. With her perfect looks, glamorous career, and vapid music, Destiny is exactly the type of superficial phony Xander tries to avoid. But when her stay is extended by a huge snowstorm, Xander realizes there is more to her than meets the eye. Will this prove to be a Christmas miracle, or just another regret?

A.J. grew up voraciously reading her grandmother’s Harlequin romance novels alongside Madeline L’Engle and R.L. Stine. She has remained an avid reader, whose book choices are as eclectic as her personality. As an anxious, Black, chaotic bisexual, A.J. Shirley writes spicy fantasy romance that is unapologetically inclusive.

Genre: NA / Adult Omegaverse
Spice: 3/5 🌶️
*spice ratings are relative to other books of the same genre*

Tropes & themes:
MMFM omegaverse, soft enemies to lovers, scent-match mates, ice queen pop star FMC, royal alpha & his consort pack, forced proximity (stranded due to snow storm), demisexual representation, diverse pack, holiday romance, heat tending, power play, good boy / good girl

Spoiler-free Summary:
On one last stop of her tour before going home, Destiny, world renowned pop star, must perform a private concert for the Princess of Avondale. What was supposed to be a quick 24 hours turns into days of being trapped in a fairytale castle with the arrogant Prince and his consort pack. Destiny prays for the snow to let up, but the pack of alphas she can’t stay away from hopes she never leaves.

Thoughts:
OMG this was so good! I went into this completely blind and it was such an enjoyable read! It really was like the most well done hallmark Christmas romance, complete with castles and Princes, but also knots.

I adored the soft enemies to lovers arc for Destiny and Prince Alexander after getting off on the wrong foot. As for her other alphas, Greyson was the epitome of gentleman in the streets and freak in the sheets, while Hunter exuded BDE and Dom-vibes the whole time. I love this pack as individuals and as a whole. Their coming together was full of banter and soft moments that really made it feel organic, although it was fast.

Destiny is such an interesting omega! Landing somewhere on the demisexual spectrum, I really enjoyed reading how her sexuality intersected with omegaverse!

All in all, I really loved this holiday read and I definitely recommend for omegaverse romance readers 💚

A sweet, cosy, light-hearted read.

This was very easy to get through, the writing flowed brilliantly, and it was relatively low angst.
That's not to say there was no conflict between the MCs, but it wasn't dragged out just for the sake of it.

It was filled with holiday spirit and was a fast-paced, short book that left me smiling.

why?

Why does this Omega settle? Why does his pack not step up and smack him for his little rich boy syndrome? Why does everyone in her life seem to use her? Why did I keep reading this even when it turned my stomach?

a fine read

It’s fine. It’s a pretty bleh book. If we hadn’t met Destiny in book 1, I’m not sure you would care about anything that happened in this book. It’s basically a hallmark Christmas book. Which if you’re looking for, this would be great. It’s the epitome of a flatline of emotion. There’s no great feeling in either direction while reading. It’s all just fine. Their banter is good. But you never suspect that she won’t end up with Pack Stepanov. There’s no need to worry about anyone’s parents, there’s nothing nefarious there. The most intrigue comes from Genesis and Greyson, and that’s easily cleaned up and tells you that any intrigue may come in book 3 (Genesis’ book). If you want a straightforward, easy, Christmas read, you’ll probably really enjoy it. There was just enough Pack Rhodes references to be a sad tease. I wanted to see more of Destiny’s “best friend” they didn’t even have an actual interaction in this book!

“In true Christmas movie fashion, the polycule had a whirlwind romance that included sleigh rides beneath the stars, grand gestures, and, of course, beautiful music. With the backdrop of Avondale's famous annual Christmas festival, and a castle full of holiday cheer, there was no better time to fall in love.” That’s quite literally the entirety of the entire story. No more, no less.

It was rather boring, so it took longer to read than it really warranted.

Grabbing Her Chance At Unexpected Happiness

I loved Destiny’s energy & vibe in the 1st book, so I was so excited to see that the 2nd book was her story. That excitement only got bigger & brighter as I read her book ✨🌟⭐️ From Destiny’s first unfortunate meeting with the Prince, to her unexpectedly longer visit in his country, to mixed signals & incorrect assumptions on both their parts, to her intense first meeting with Greyson, to her silently powerful connection to Hunter. It all added up to the beginning of a love story that was definitely worthy of a Hallmark movie of the whychoose variety (especially how Hunter & Greyson handled warning Destiny of the impending snowstorm 👀😈) 😉 As internal walls started falling thanks to parental intervention, and true intentions & heart’s desires came to light, the snow wasn’t the only thing falling hard & fast in Avondale 😝 When the guys realize that Destiny fulfills all their kinks in the bedroom too, there’s definitely no turning back for them. They pull out all the stops to convince her that they are what she needs in her life. While she comes to terms with where her career is at, as well as how the guys make her feel, she soon realizes she has some major life choices to make. In the end though, is she really able to go after what she wants? Or will life decide to pull her somewhere else?
Destiny was a strong, powerful omega who knew how to stand up for herself and not settle for less than she deserved. Which is pretty great, because Xander needed a lesson on being the man that she deserved & wanted to fall for. Greyson & Hunter were definitely the driving force between making sure both Destiny & Xander realized how perfect they all were for each other (and boy did they do so in such delicious ways 🥵😈🙌🏻). It was wonderful to watch Xander grow & become the man who was meant to be not only a king to his country, but also the true leader of his pack & deserving of his omega’s heart. Destiny doing what she had to do to ensure that she got her HEA was also one of the highlights of this amazing story.
Y’all, this series has been PHENOMENAL so far 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 The perfect amount of drama, angst, internal & external conflict, and all mixed in with just the right balance of plot, emotions, spice, and romance. You can not go wrong with this series! I can’t wait to get Genesis’s story next (come on, it’s gonna have cowboys 😍😝). So happy I discovered this amazing new omegaverse author ❤️❤️❤️

I love a good omegaverse and this book did not disappoint! I stumbled upon A.J. Shirley with her debut omegaverse (Knot Their Style), and fell in love, so I knew I had to devour this one as well.

Knot Their Cup of Tea reminds me of both a hallmark holiday movie and the Princess Diaries 2 in the best possible ways (and I am a huge Princess Diaries movie fan so this book slid right into my heart). It's a cute fluffy (low angst) read, with SPICE! Destiny is not what I expected at all and she OWNS the three alphas (the game room scene might be one of my all time favorites). I loved the banter, the care, the sass, and the idea that we shouldn't waste a Christmas miracle.

We see both Destiny and Xander learn more about themselves, what they want, and who they can be as the story progresses. And I loved the pack dynamics, and the magical feeling the book gives you in this snowed in, holiday, romance.

I give this one 4.5 stars (and I round up), since I always like a bit more angst in stories where there is a bit of conflict, and I wish we could have seen Xander grovel to his pack a bit more. But those are also personal preferences and the book is still a highly recommend from me!

This is a standalone in an interconnected series, and you do not need to read the first book to get the full enjoyment out of this one, however I do highly recommend it since I loved Knot Their Style as well!

Overall, this is a highly recommend from me, especially for those who are looking for a low angst, fluffy, holiday read that will give them all the warm feelings.

I received an eARC of this book, but the review is entirely my own.

Heat- 3
Tropes- sweet omegaverse, MMFM, scent match, famous heroine, famous heroes, royalty

Christmas in an Eastern European kingdom with 3 princes? Yes, please! I loved the culture and traditions shown in this sweet Christmas omegaverse. My mind was creating visions of Frozen’s Arendale but with a Russian twist. Destiny, who seems a lot like Taylor Swift, is there to do a private concert for the princess just at the time in her life when she is questioning if she wants to continue her life of constant traveling and performances. She instantly dismisses the pack of princes after they give her the worst first impression imaginable, but she can’t deny how drawn to them she is. The princes have to prove to her that they are worth taking a chance on.

Destiny was very well rounded out. She is exactly what we all HOPE our idols are like while knowing realistically they aren’t. She is kind and generous. She doesn’t think too highly of herself but is confident in who she is. She feels immense pressure not to disappoint anyone but particularly her family. Her family threw everything they had behind her dreams and now rely on her for income. She battles between being grateful and wishing she could tell them she needs a break.

We never really get to know the guys like we do Destiny. Their backstories are mentioned but not delved into. They are all very distinct characters, though.

🩷 Knotty Omegas Series: Book 2
🩷 Contemporary Romance
🩷 Omegaverse
🩷 MMMF Polyamorous Pack
🩷 Christmas-y Feel

Ooohhh, I love this series. I’m on an audiobook binge right now and this was the story I needed in my ears.

This book was fluffier than the first and hand a Christmas vibe. It’s still steamy with a whole lot of love going around. 6AJ Shirley has been very clear that all of her characters are queer and love on each other unapologetically. 🫶🏽)

This is Destiny’s story, who we met briefly in book one. She’s a pop star who get stuck in a remote country while performing for the royal family. The prince is a gorgeous himbo who is drawn to Destiny, but makes a HORRIBLE first impression 🫣 He’s also a pack Alpha who loves being domed by his Omega and Beta 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I didn’t know how much I wanted this. 🫠 Greyson and Hunter were the perfect counterparts to Xander’s cocky personality. I lived this pack and how they fell all over Destiny.

TLDR: Cozy, steamy why-choose Omegaverse with a Christmas-y feel. Great cast of narrators.

It’s official I love this series

Omg this was just as good as book, if not better! I loved that the FMC was someone we met in book 1 and got to know better. This story was so fun and cute! I loved how the relationship between the omega and pack lead got off to a rocky start, but she was instantly drawn to the other members of the pack. Even though this was a fairly short novel, the author still managed to give us enough backstory and breadcrumbs for each character to make it feel like we knew them and to really care about how these relationships developed. As usual the FMC was able to hold her own verbally and in other ways against these alphas and I loved her more for it. I cannot wait to get into book 3!

This was such a good holiday Omegaverse book. There are not nearly enough Christmas Omegaverse books out there, and this one definitely delivers on holiday charm.

Destiny was such a unique omega. I liked her as Serenity’s friend in Knot Their Style. I really enjoyed getting to know her better in this book. The story was sweet and interesting, especially with the royalty element. Xander, Hunter and Greyson were perfect alphas for Destiny.

This is the second book in the Knotty Omegas series of Omegaverse books, but it could be read as a standalone.

I can’t wait to read the third book, as I’m really enjoying this series!

I love this book. It was exactly the spicy, sweet, cute, happy ending with minor amounts of angst that I needed so badly. A. J. is an incredible author. She draws you in with her world building and then keeps you with her incredibly dynamic characters.

Prince Alexander and his Prince Consorts are lovely together. It almost takes Hunter and Greyson to even out the massive alpha-hole vibes Alexander puts out. I wasn’t sure I’d like Destiny. She could have been a whiny “whoah is me” diva because of her lifestyle, but she’s sweet and snarky in equal measures. She was made perfectly for her three men. I’d love to see another book about this pack. Maybe with little princelings of their own?

super sweet

I definitely recommend. It’s a very heartwarming cute romance. Honestly wished it was longer cause I enjoyed the cuteness. It was giving hallmark romance movie vibes for sure. My main complaint is I wish there was more epilogue with maybe the reaction of the public opinion and also her release of the song. Also the sister to the prince didn’t get much role with interacting with her brother or anything, it would’ve been cool to see her tease him throughout the book or something. Overall very cute and definitely a pallet cleanser.

ARC review Knot their cup of tea by @ajshirleyauthor

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Alexander, Greyson and Hunter are sooooo good together. Enter Destiny and the pack is complete. In this book you get bratty, snarky, fearful, possessive alphas who just want to make someone happy. Popstar Destiny just wants to be seen as herself and that’s exactly what she gets. Cannot wait to see who comes next ✨

Love love love!!! Very lighthearted Omegaverse and Destiny has to be one of my favourite Omegas I’ve read in a long time! She’s sassy, strong and has a wonderful sense of humour. The MMC’s are suuuuper delicious and Xander has a great redemption arc!
Little to no angst, a HEA with supportive families this is such a cute read and wonderful for the Christmas/holiday period!

Christmas Miracle

For years destiny thought she was a broken Omega because her lack of real interest in packs or alphas. Turns out all she really needed was her scent matched pack to have her feeling all the things she thought that she would never feel and want things she only dreamed of.

Christmas Omegaverse ... need I say more?

I didn't know I needed a spicy Hallmark paranormal Christmas novel in my life but here we are!

Short, sweet, & to the point!

How do I sign up to be snowed in over Christmas in a European castle with a prince and his pack?!

This has a Christmas hallmark movie feel. It was very bland and quite boring. It’s missing any conflict or problem to overcome. The closest it comes is the initial conflict with Xander making a bad first impression, but Destiny gets over it pretty fast, so it doesn’t really count.

Light fluffy ov

Can't lie it took me forever to finish this book. Not sure why but I would find myself closing it and reading something else, then coming back. I think I was just bored/ not in the mood for something so sweet.

Cozy holiday royalty romance

Destiny and her alphas are a good time. Still too light on stakes/conflict for my preferences, but AJ Shirley can really crank out the low-angst, cozy omegaverse books with solid character development.
