I have to say that I pretty much blame my mother for all this. If my dear Mum wasn't an avid reader of romance, then I might not have fallen in love with romance novels myself. And then I wouldn't have decided to write my own romances. Thanks Mum!

Of course, I never thought it would take me 20 years before I saw my first piece de résistance in print. Perhaps I wouldn't even have tried, but you know, I think I still would have reached for my dream. Romance novels offer such wonderful affirmations about love and relationships that I can't imagine not wanting to share my stories with others.

I currently live in Melbourne, Australia but over the years have travelled to New Zealand, the UK, and the USA. In my own backyard, my husband’s job ensured we saw the diversity of the countryside, from the tropics to the outback, country towns to the cities. I find it very fitting that I sold my first manuscript on January 26th 2006, which is Australia Day in my country.

Since that fateful day I have had 12 books published, selling almost a million and a half copies worldwide in as many as 17 languages. I'm also published in short stories worldwide in national magazines.

I am married to Geoff, who has proven his hero status many times over the years. We have two handsome sons and an assortment of previously abandoned animals.

I'm always happy to hear from my readers. For me, it really is a pleasure to be here.

I'll be reading only this book in this trilogy. This is my first read by Maxine Sullivan.

Set in the picturesque Darwin, Australia; Flynn Donovan finally gets to meet Mrs Danielle Ford to get his money back. The loan of two hundred thousand dollars that her late husband and she had to repay to his company Donovan Enterprises, but still hadn't. Robert Ford had painted a very bad picture of his wife in front of Flynn and he believes that she can't be better than her lying and cheat of a husband. She denies having any knowledge of the transaction but then there's proof!

Flynn makes an indecent proposal. He's smitten with her beauty and wants her in his bed for three months, even after she mentioned being widowed recently. Hmm... It all sounds very sleazy, actually.

Danielle can finally take a breath of relief, away from her oppressive mother-in-law, Monica, now that her husband is dead. But she can't shrug away the responsibility of giving back the loan Robert had taken, even if he had forged her signature to get it. She's trying to make a new start, especially now that she has someone else to think about too.

She is three months pregnant, and even after telling Flynn he continues to berate her. Though later, remembering the death of his mother from her second pregnancy makes him take some serious decisions. And the same goes for Danielle who fears that Monica would try to take her baby away by declaring her an unfit mother because of the debts. She's an overbearing and controlling maniac.

I loved Flynn's middle-aged PA Connie. She is a sweetheart. And Flynn's first assessment of Monica was spot on. Cold and calculating. This is a story of many firsts for me in HPLandia. A heroine who is pregnant from someone other than the hero. A meeting between her mother-in-law and the hero within the first few chapters.

Flynn's protectiveness over Danielle was endearing. So much that he proposes her marriage, not exactly proposes, to protect her from Monica. But there is no coercion and only love that brings them together in the end. A beautiful story!

Libros que compras porque están en promoción y acabas diciéndote a ti misma NO.
Historia corta, lo que no sería un problema si no fuera porque está sin desarrollar, es típica/tópica y ni tan siquiera da pie al lector a meterse en ella.

I love Danielle she was a great character I didn’t care much for Flynn he was a bully. I hated that he never apologized. Also can’t stand the mother in law from hell. It was a great book it would of been better if Flynn regretted his horrible behavior and did some groveling.

The best thing about Harlequins is how quick they are! It’s a nice hit of romance when you need it.

However...This story’s pacing was all over the place. The heroine is pregnant and I feel like the time jump comes at whiplash speed.

What can I say about this? It left me feeling very meh and blah. Not the worst thing, but just disjointed. I kept thinking this is like a bad Lifetime movie. The heroine didn’t stay strong in her convictions at all. The hero reminded me a lot of Christian Grey. Even down to the fact that his company is called Donovan Enterprises but we have no idea what that is. He’s just rich, somehow. I kept thinking that since this was published first, maybe EL James read this and decided to do her own thing.

This was an unintentionally funny book: referring to women as middle age (so they aren’t a threat to heroine, is that why? 🤷🏾‍♀️) and the mother in law going to an insane asylum. Just pure nuttiness that I chuckled at things I know weren’t supposed to be funny, but cracked me up.

Romance is such an absurd genre and I love it!

In "The Tycoon's Blackmailed Mistress", the second book in Maxine Sullivan's "Australian Millionaires", awesome "Alpha Male" Flynn Donovan meets his match! Intending to seek revenge on the dead man who swindled him by seducing the man's beautiful widow, Flynn is instead charmed and captivated by the lovely Danielle Ford. Fighting his attraction by continuing to remind himself that the widow is as guilty as her dead husband, Flynn cannot dismiss Danielle from his sensual imagination. Discovering that she is pregnant by her late husband only increases his fascination, and he begins to wonder if she may be innocent of her husband's misdeeds. Danielle is just as enthralled with Flynn, except that the last thing she wants or needs is another dominating, controlling man in her life. Her late husband brow-beat her into following his wishes, and after his death, his mother still tried to control Danielle. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Flynn must learn to let go, and Danielle must learn to accept. It's a lover's compromise worth the while when two hearts and true love are involved!

The "Alpha Male" is the dominant leader of the pack. They have qualities and strengths which make them "number one"! Along with all that greatness can come arrogance, a "my way is the only way" attitude, and a sometimes ornery personality. However, their fierce devotion to their loved ones, their loyalty and their innate honor all go together quite nicely to smooth the rough edges. I love big, gruff, tough men who have even bigger hearts and an inner core of compassion. I also appreciate intelligence and humor, but kindness is the essential quality. Vulnerability is sometimes the key to an alpha male. What he may consider to be his weakness is actually the inner force which makes him an alpha. Flynn Donovan is a delicious "Alpha Male"!
