Arlan Weaver had often thought of getting himself a mail order bride, but now that he had, he wasn’t sure the pretty little thing The Ridgley Mail Order Brides Service sent him was going to be tough enough to handle farm life, let alone his brothers. But Arlan soon found his new little wife was chock full of surprises. In more ways than one.
Samantha Carter had never considered becoming a mail order bride. She was to marry as soon as she turned eighteen and thus be out of her uncle’s hair not to mention his house. But her uncle had other plans, and wanted Samantha for himself. When she found out his intentions, she ran to the only mail order bride service she knew of, and begged Mrs. Ridgley to send her somewhere, ANYWHERE that would get her away from her lecherous uncle. And so, Mrs. Ridgley sent her to Nowhere.
Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
This is the first book by Kit Morgan I’ve had the opportunity to read. The plot was clever, and the characters enjoyable. I loved Arlan’s family. His brothers are rambunctious, but well-meaning, and I could feel the affection they had for each other. His mom was the quintessential farm mom who ruled the roost with love. Samantha is a delight, and although naive, quickly grows to figure out how to fit into the family, and it’s no surprise the guys are willing to do anything for her. I liked that the “bad guy” wasn’t made to be totally evil, but more as a result of his own problems. A wonderful ending brought the book to a close. The flavor of the book is somewhat like Mark Twain’s books in that dialogue rather than description is what drives the story forward. I liked that dialect was used, but it wasn’t so overpowering as not to understand what was being said. The idioms were clever, and most were new to me.
Oh my gosh! I loved this story and as in all of Kit Morgan's fabulous stories, it had all the ingredients to warm my heart! Samantha's father had died when she was ten and already having lost her mother, her uncle became her guardian. He treated her like a slave through the years and was anxious for her to turn 18. He told her he was going to marry her himself and she found a way to make her escape and became a mail order bride. Arlan lived on a farm with his three brothers and mother and worked really hard. He had seen how his friends had found love with their mail order brides and decided it was time for him to try. Wow. There is so much humor and the antics of the three younger brothers, plus an interfering woman (who was in the Clear Creek books), plus an outlaw and the terrible uncle, it was a nonstop adventure. But a wonderful love story too and with the voice of Michael Rahhal it was perfect. That man is amazing and as I said before with Kit's writing, it is a perfect combination!!!
I was confused in the beginning thinking she was 5 when she lost her parents and couldn't read them it seemed she was ten and could read. Once the story started to unfold I didn't care if it was me reading it wrong or an editing error. This is such a fast moving story you will get lost in it. Obviously a part of a series but stands alone. A fun afternoon read just in time for spring break.
Samijo is trying to getaway from her Uncle, which has been waiting for her eighteenth birthday so he can marry her. Arlan who is currently the head of his family after his father’s death. Now he is looking for a wife so he requested a Mail order wife. Now Arlan has brothers that are jokesters and Samijo will have to deal with them. Will she survive them. Have to read and find out. This is the second time I have read this book. Very enjoyable.
This story brought a bride from New Orleans to Nowhere, OR. She was running from a horrible man, her Uncle! She found that one way to get away was to be a mail-order bride. She just turned eighteen on her wedding day. Her groom had sent for her after he finished building the cabin. He was ready to settle down and start life as a married man. Things took a turn when the Uncle showed up at the same time as the notorious outlaw Ned Red, showed up.
This story has a main character who you immediately want to have "something" go right for in her life and it does in a cowboy with a quirky fun rambunctious family. It really brings a smile back and helps you hope that there is an place for love.
This is the fifth book of this series that I have read in as many days. I do love these stories of mail order brides. The series is awesome as you still hear a little about peeps in previous books. It is like putting on new shoes with the insoles of your older beloved shoes!
I listened to this book on Audible — with the narration sped up for my preference.
Another good book from Kit Morgan. I’ve read the first 5 books in this series now and have enjoyed the characters, setting and plot of each one. The author does a good job, in my opinion, of painting a great picture! I feel as if the stories could have really happened!
3.5 stars. This was very entertaining. However, once again I felt that the ending was rushed. Where was the conversation about Samijo’s uncle and her inheritance. That could have been a great conversation for the Weaver family. This was an important conversation and it being overlooked, well I just wanted to scream at the kindle and make it become included somehow.
Love this series, but then I love the West. When I was a kid my great grandmother told me takes of the West as she & her husband traveled by covered wagon. He was a U.S. Marshal. This book and series stays true to the time and brings some really find memories. And to spice it up Gotta have some action. And it's clean so all can enjoy.
This was the first book I have read by Kit Morgan. I enjoyed it. The characters and story line were good. I'm a sucker for mail-order bride books too. I expected it to a be a Christian book, but I don't remember any reference to God or the Bible. There is one cuss word. I may need to see if there is book to follow up with the brothers' story. Overall a good book.
I have enjoyed all of the other books in the series up till this one. This one started off good, but about a quarter of the way through it just starting feeling horribly rushed. It was a great rough draft, but really needed more filler and substance to make it an enjoyable book.
I'm so glad I got this book at RT2018. I've never read a book by this author and I'm glad I did. I was hooked from the first to last page. I loved how it was a quick and fast read. Even though it is the 5th book in the series it was great on it own. I can't wait to read more from Kit.
This story was fun to read. Samijo and Arlan sure had a lot to learn about being married, but with the wisdom of his Ma, they could have their happy ending. More than their happy ending, I loved the other couple’s unfortunate beginning.
An enjoyable story of Arlan and Samijo . It was interesting from beginning to end what with the Brigger woman and uncle Burr then throw in Red Ned, not to leave out the Weaver boys
This was a sweet relationship that budded between strangers when she met him as his mail ordered bride. I loved these characters and their simple lives far out away from the city. I’m enjoying this series and plan on reading it all.
Bride, husband and conniving woman, outlaw and abusive uncle coming together for what? Pranking brothers also. Is there a HEA for this couple in this clean story?
Light and fast paced mail order bride story. The serious occurrences don't seem to match the characters reactions to them, but still fairly enjoyable read.
Fun enjoyable book. Mail order bride books are exactly as stated except this one just throws in some rambunctious brother in law's, an outlaw, an uncle and a scheming wannabe wife who isn't the mail order bride. All this helps to bring Kit Morgan's usual humor to the story.
This is book 5 in the "Holiday Mail-Order Brides" series and I think (other than) the first, it's the best. There's no tricking the groom into marriage and no mother plotting to get him there! The groom sent for his own bride! (Yeah) I really enjoyed this installment, it had love, adventure and a sweet coming of age with plenty of villains thrown in. Our main characters are, hero, Arlan Weaver who after seeing how happy some of the men in "Nowhere" were with their brides, decided it's time to get married and settle down. Our heroine, Samantha (Sami Jo) Carter, needs to escape from her lecherous uncle (Burr). Enter again, "The Ridgley Mail Order Brides Service" and Mrs. Ridgley who sends Sami Jo to Arlan and Nowhere. Red Ned (outlaw) is back to stir up trouble and so is, Arlan's troublemaking and rambunctious brothers. Then to add another twist, we get a scheming wannabe wife (Olivia Bridger) out to steal Arlan away from Samantha. It was quite a fun and cute story with a satisfactory HEA. On to the next one.
