Anna Batista's life is great. Her event planning career is well established, allowing a comfy budget for shopping splurges at her favorite boutique. She has great friends, lives comfortably with her aunt, uncle, and two young cousins. Anna hasn't found love, but why rush when everything else is going so right? However, Anna has a secret. If that secret is discovered, it would mean devastation for her entire family. The last person she should have anything to do with is Sheriff Mike McBride. Having anyone in law enforcement close just isn’t an option. But Mike can't be dissuaded. When he meets Anna, she immediately steals his heart. Anna is everything he’s ever wanted in a woman and he’ll move mountains to convince her that they’re made for each other. When Mike’s opponent for sheriff blackmails Anna, she is plunged into a web of forced deceit that threatens to tear apart her family, her heart, and the good-hearted man she has fallen for. With the election in tatters, and his career at risk, Mike must make some hard decisions. Can a good man choose between love and duty?
Cheyenne McCray fell in love with reading and writing early, deciding in kindergarten that one day she would become an author. Today, she is an award-winning New York Times and USA Today bestselling fiction author who’s sold millions of books worldwide. Having published more than 100 novels and novellas in contemporary and paranormal romance, urban fantasy and romantic suspense, she is now also writing cozy mysteries as Deb Ries.
Chey grew up on a ranch in southeastern Arizona and delights in creating stories of suspense, love, and redemption with characters and worlds her readers can get lost in. Chey and her equally geeky husband live with their two dogs, six ducks (the neighborhood celebrities), and a small flock of chickens in a small Arizona town where she enjoys gardening, crazy quilting and, of course, writing.
Another awesome book in The Riding Tall series. I think this one just might be my favorite. The chemistry between Mike McBride and Anne Batista was off the charts and the sex...Wow just Wow! I loved the kind of twist in this book it was a different sort of suspense. It was fabulous. I can't wait for the next book this series just keeps getting better. I highly recon that the series is read in order to enjoy it fully.
A story with Anna and Sheriff McBride. There was an instant attraction on both sides. I liked reading this, apart from the "illegal aliens" part. I didn't understand the part of the story regarding illegal people entering a country - why did the adults have to leave, but their young children stayed? Loved most of it. 4☆
This was a pretty interesting story...I've never read a romance story like this one that is set around illegal immigration and it was interesting reading it. I thought for sure this was going to be the last book for the McBride's but the author went and threw in Jayson and Jack into this book as another set of McBride cousin's. I will definitely be reading any other books that are released for this series... There really wasn't a lot of sex scenes which was a change because the rest of the books have been pretty steamy BUT where it lacked in steamy scenes it made up for in drama filled blackmailing goodness to keep you reading.
Belong to You Riding Tall, Book 10 By: Cheyenne McCray Narrated by: David Quimby
It was time we got back to Prescott! I have been missing the McBride men and this one is especially wonderful. Mike McBride, the sheriff is getting ready to run for re-election. Anna is an event planner with a secret. Working on the sheriff's debates is the last thing she should be doing. But the connection between Mike and Anna is palpable, and leads Anna down a path she never wanted to go. Deceit and lies, love and passion all flow through this story and the end results could be devastating! What will happen when her secrets are revealed? Will Mike still love her? What will become of her reputation and family? And where will it all lead? Give this one a listen to find out! The McBride men are well worth giving them your heart!
David Quimby continues his narration of this series, and I love him in the western mode. He is perfect as these men, and Mike comes through with the best personality. I always enjoy his performances and hope to hear more from Prescott!
Struggled to finish this. It's hard to take a heroine who continues to make horribly outrageous decisions. Anna was a trainwreck. How can you ceaselessly deceive someone, add on a crapload of verbal vomit that hurts the H in more ways than one, continue on with a sexual relationship due to lack of control or integrity, and then claim to be in love with the poor guy? Truly, if that's love, he's much better off without you. Because I deplore not finishing a book, it's a personal thing, I had to read until the end. Ultimately, not impressed.
That all being said, I'd read a few others in the Riding Tall series and thought they were ok. Don't often do reviews, however this one just did not sit well with me and I had to share my thoughts.
Welcome back to Prescott, AZ, where the McBride family are a force to be reckoned with...enter sexy Sheriff Mike Mcbride...le sigh! In the midst of a close re-election campaign, Sheriff McBride believes that he has met his soulmate. What happens when his opponent uses a big secret to drive a wedge between Mike and his HEA...and possibly win the election? Will Mike give up and will the great people of the county choose his opponent. Great story and great narration makes you want to visit with the McBrides....especially Aunt Gert’s Halloween party! I voluntarily accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
. Mike McBride is sheriff and running for it against Chad Johnson a man who doesn't care for anyone who can get in his way. Anna Batista is very good at planning events and goes to help with Mike campaign but because she's being blackmail by Chad. Mike and Anna have feelings for each other but her family members are not in the US legally and Chad knows that and using it to get Anna to help get information about Mike. Wow great read!😊😁
Okay read but a bit too sweet for my liking. A good plot that just didn’t deliver for me. A blackmail, threats and friendships challenged and then the loss of two key characters brushed off without any real emotion or follow up. Disappointing.
I liked the instant heat between Anna and Mike. But she’s hiding a secret. I felt for her as she’s being blackmailed. Will Mike forgive her? I was shocked at what the blackmailed did towards the end. But thankfully Mike and Anna finally get their happy ever after.
I have had the wonderful opportunity to read quite a few books by the talented Cheyenne McCray now. I have enjoyed each book and found each one to be a real page turner. Belong To You I found not only to be a real page turner full of suspense but also a tear jerker in places.
I felt an instant connection to Anna Batista. She is just one really wholesome family girl, living to help take care of her family. She loves her Aunt, Uncle, and little cousins and is so pleased that they are all together.
She attends a debate with her best friend. Her best friend's brother (a jerk if I may add) is debating the current sheriff (a real good guy). Anna meets Sheriff Mike McBride and there is an instant connection between these two. After much personal debate Anna decides to meet Mike for drinks and the connection grows deeper.
However when the jerk Chad finds out about this blooming relationship he adds some major drama to the situation that makes me like the jerk even less. I won't tell you too much about this because it is a major part of the storyline. However this does lead to some major tension between Anna and Mike and also leads to some very serious tear jerker moments.
I really enjoyed this story, It didn't take me very long at all to read. There is plenty of drama, a few steamy scenes, and some really sweet family moments. On the whole I just really enjoyed this story.
I know I will be looking forward to reading more of Cheyenne McCray's work. It doesn't seem to matter what genre she writes in, she writes one really awesome storyline that totally keeps me entertained. I have really enjoyed this Riding Tall series and I look forward to reading more of these books as well. Honestly I'm looking forward to reading what ever Ms. McCray has out next as well.
I was given the opportunity to read this book so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Belong To You.
The current Sheriff, Mike McBride, meets Anna Batista, an event planner, at a debate against Chad Johnson, his childhood nemesis, and its love at first sight. Chad is consumed with bitterness and will do anything to win the election, even break the confidence of his twin sister Chandra and use the secret she confided to him against Anna to gain information on Mike's department.
Anna knows the last person she should spend time with is Mike, he is the Sheriff afterall. But with Chad knowing her secret he forces her to deceive Mike. If only that was all, she finds that Mike is just that special someone she has waited all her life for. Tore between her family, best friend and the love of her life Anna faces heartbreak alone. She is a positive person and knows that she will make it one way or the other but what type of life will she have without the love of Mike!
One of the things I love most about this author is that she writes about events that concern the average person. In Belong to You, she addresses border control, illegal aliens, unfair politic practices and drugs in the community. It's refreshing that both Mike & Anna have positive attitudes throughout the book and do not with hold forgiveness and seek revenge as so many characters do.
Another enjoyable read in this series. But I did have issues with some of the characters. Especially Anna and I did start to wonder what Mike saw in her. Plus her so called best friend Chandra was a complete bitch to her and don't even get me started on her slimy twin brother Chad.
And so this wasn't my favorite of the series but it was a sweet read. With no major angst and it was great to catch up with other members of the McBride family. And hopefully with the introduction of a couple more cousins more stories will follow.
I was so disappointed at the discrepancies in this book. Introducing Ricki as a cousin's wife when she in fact is his brother's wife. Josie was going to Kindergarten next fall; however, later on in the book she couldn't goto school and had to have her homework sent home. There was another discrepancy in this book. It distracted me from the story & I was disappointed because of it.
I'm sad that this is the end of this series. I really hope the author has more to come for the McBride family. Little different than some of the others and wasn't a fan of some of the characters but a decent ending. Would have loved to have gotten an update on some of the other characters but it just leaves room for more stories in the future.
As with this whole series this book had some action, some sex, and some emotional conflicts. This book was not quite as good as John's story, but I still loved it. The emotions that Anna went through would be overwhelming to most people. My one wish is that the story would have been longer with more action. Over all it was a good story.
Anna has lived with her aunt, uncle and cousins since her parents died... Anna bumps into Mike the local law enforcer and can't resist him, but her aunt and uncle are illegals from mexico and the last thing she wants is for him to find out and deport them... But that is taken away from her, when someone blackmail her. loved this lasts book in the riding tall series..
I had never read any of Chey's books before, with that said, this is a damn good series to read and worth every cent, and I will most definitely be reading more from her! Especially considering we're both Arizona natives
Another contemporary 'western' story in the series. If you love suspense, romance, and fast pace this book is for you. I may have to go to Prescott to see if this hot family really exists!
Good read. Interesting plot line which at least didn't have the main female lead in physical danger. Mike was yummy! Nice to read about the other family members too.
