Giselle’s Review:

*ARC provided for book tour*

The Last Thing is Briana Gaitan’s debut novel and it had the potential to be a really great read for me. It was well-written, the plot was well thought out, and it definitely had a unique feel to it.

Quinn and Chase were extremely enjoyable characters, and Quinn’s character was especially intriguing. However, I really lacked a connection with the main characters, Quinn and Chase, and the insta-lust/attraction/lov

I liked the premise of the story, about Quinn moving away from a painful past, starting anew and building a life without remorse. But these things took her awhile to accept and accomplish. Meeting Chase and falling in live with him wasn't part of her plans, but somehow, he fit perfectly in her new life. But Chase being a celebrity wasn't making things easy for her. On the contrary, their union brought about something that might just put an end to Chase's career. Oh, what a complication it was!

One thing this book made me appreciate is authors who have a gift for writing realistic dialogue. Nothing about this book felt realistic to me. Not only could I not connect with the characters, I didn't like them at all. They all seemed selfish and petty. Honestly, I didn't get the sense that Quinn and Chase even liked each other (even when the book was almost over), let alone believe that they were falling in love.

My random thoughts as I was reading:

Soap opera actors do not make that much money

Brilliant. Briana Gaitan tells the beautiful tale of a girl blamed for the death of her boyfriend, an incident she doesn't remember. That Girl- Quinn Bardot. She leaves to Hollywood, where she moves in with her cousin, Ginger Teague to excape the murderous looks. Chase Crowley. Movie Star. Player. Man Whore. They meet at a party Ginger forces her to go to. What happens after- just Hollywood. Addicting, This version of ho

I want to start out by saying that I think there is a new voice in NA fiction. When I first signed up for this blog tour I will admit that I was a little reluctant because The Last Thing is Briana Gaitan's first NA book. I was worried that a jump from Sci-Fi to NA would be a big stretch and that it would show in the writ

I had a mini-preview of this so I already knew what I was getting into. I already knew it was going to be both emotional and frustrating, but not in a bad way.

It starts off with the story and point of view of Quinn’s point of view, she just moved to California with her best friend, Ginger. Her new roommate also happens to be an actress on a daytime drama. We don’t know much about Quinn but we do know that she went through something very traumatic. From there we switch to Ch

This book is a solid three for me. I didn't love it. I didn't hate it. It was a quick and painless read that had spurts of "awww" moments and that ever frustrating love at first glance.

Quinn is a damaged southern belle who has moved out to California to get well and move on from her boyfriend's tragic death. She moves in with her feisty cousin Ginger, an actress on a soap opera, and meets Chase, an actor. At first you like Quinn simply bec

First off I would like to start by stating that I was lucky enough to beta read this book while in process which made the characters that much more lovable as I was able to watch them grow chapter by chapter while this amazing author sculpted a great masterpiece. The Last thing is a story about love and loss, rediscovery of ones self, and self determination to find a way to continue on.

Quinn is the distraught after the abrupt loss of her now late boyfriend bash in a fatal car accident which stol

When small town meets the bright lights of Hollywood, you can expect drama – at times a little overkill. This one is a bit slow in moving but does hit some high notes along the way.

Quinn Bardot is a small town girl who’s running from guilt and tragic loss. Needing a new start, she leaves Tennessee to live with her cousin in Los Angeles. Chase Crowley is on the brink of becoming a successful star in Holly

This book was a quick read. I really liked how the book started off with Quinn on her way to L.A. In that time I got to know a little about her and started looking forward to finding out more about why she was having horrible nightmares and wondering who "Bash" was. This book didn't disappoint.

Quinn was really easy to like. It wasn't just because she was genuine inside and out among a sea of fake people, but her personality was really sweet. I hated to see herself hating on herself the way she d

I think this book is overrated. For me it feels like you're really reading a book, there's no connection..like you're not experiencing it, you're just reading it (It's hard to explain but it's something like that). You know with some books the characters feel so alive while reading, this book feels so fictional, i don't know why. Maybe because it's too good to be true??

Then at the end, when Chase chose to take a break from their relationship, i think Quinn overreacted. I looked at it as Chase r

I was lucky enough to get to beta read The Last Thing and I loved every minute of it!

Quinn moves to LA to live with her soap star cousin Ginger, and meets the gorgeous rising star Chase at a party. They have amazing chemistry, but have a bit of a rocky road as Quinn has to overcome with her past and they both have to deal with the consequences of their actions in the present. Told from both perspectives, this story about grief and loss, following dreams and falling in love comes highly recommend

What an amazing and emotional story of overcoming, learning to live and love again, and learning that there are things more important than yourself. Looking for a fresh start away from her past Quinn moves in with her cousin across the country. Chase is a Hollywood playboy who doesn’t date and only care about his career. But what happens when this small town girl and this playboy collide. I absolutely loved having the duel POVs in this story. You can truly s

The Last Thing, an interesting read and characters.
The way the story started is good.
I love how it captured my interest from the start up to the last.
The characters are good.
Both Quinn and Chase are easy to love and relate with.
What I love most about this book is that it's easy to get attached to the story and the characters emotions are easily felt.
I sometimes don't like Chase but as the story goes, I started to like him more and more.

I absolutely loved this book. Getting to read it multiple times, while being written was an experience. Reading as the characters evolve was fun, and the story was great from the rough drafts to the finished draft.

The book is about love and loss, and then trying to love again, all the while rediscovering the you that was lost and not even knowing it.
Great book with sadness, humor, compassion, love, and awesome characters.

A good, solid book with a decent storyling despite it starting off a little shaky. The more you read, the more you like. I almost put it down but got over my hump and continued with it to find an extremely enjoyable story, with engaging characters.
At first I found Quinn moody and depressing, extremely childish along with it and I struggled to connect with her character. She grows on you however and you begin to like what you read, ad

have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this book and the overall story and relationship between the two characters Quinn and Chase. I think why I liked it so much was that they were truly two dysfuctional people, but GOOD hearted people who did their relationshp backwards and it worked for them. The story was different and appreciate a brand new author coming out the box and changing the game up a bit.

Quinn is running from her life in Tennesse to the bright lights of Hollywood. No, she does

What a great story this was! From the first chapter on the plane right up until the end, I found myself anxiously turning the pages to find out how things would work out. I loved the fact that the characters continued to surprise me with their actions, and it was refreshing to read a story where common sense and reason are used by the characters to keep the angst to a minimum – not that there wasn't drama and lots of emotion, but the characters didn't create any more than was necessary to keep t ...more

God did I hate the main character in the beginning, but she ended up growing on me, thankfully. I find that a lot of the girl main characters in New Adult books have a "woe-is-me" mentality. It really annoys me to no end.

This story could well be about when life empties you, it always brings hope afterwards.

The most unlikely couple get together for one night. It's unbridled desire to forget the horror from the past for Quinn, and it's a strong pull for Chase. They don't want to date , but an undercurrent of emotion doesn't let them forget what they could become together if they allowed it to happen. It doesn't seem more than a dream though. He is so busy with his acting career and being single, and she has a huge

Okay, so this is a bit different than my usual reviews in that The Last Thing falls into the category of contemporary romance for me as a reader.

I’ve been a closet romance reader for more than 30 years (my beloved Grandma B got me hooked). For a while I read copious numbers of romances, I’m down to only reading them once or twice a year now. I have read thousands in my life time and I either love them or hate them (if I hate them, they don’t get finished). If I love them, they are usually finish

The Last Thing by Briana Gaitan was so much more than I expected. It was a emotional roller coaster I loved every single second of! We get two character’s that deal with some really hard life choices that are never easy and they may make mistakes at time and not be perfect (who is!) but they grow into these beautiful people I just fell in love with.
Quinn and Chase are probably some of my favorite character’s in the new adult genre. They really act mature and step up to the plate when it matters.

From Tenne to Cali, ain't nothin' better than a small town girl experiencing the fast life with the hunky Hollywood star.

The story structure was great:

small town girl + dark past -> fast life + wild cousin actor-> party like a rockstar + hot actor = one night of bliss

This starts the camera rolling for Small-town Quinn Bardot and Hollywood actor Chase Crowley.

Things start off a bit slow at first, then before you know, things get kicked into high gear, literally.

There is nothing better than "accidentally" stumbling across a new book or especially a new author. I met Briana at the Nashville Author Event and we exchanged cards. I jumped at the chance because, like I said, there is something really special about discovering a new (to you) book or a new ...more
