Christmas in Cupid Falls

Rate this book
Kennedy Anderson loves Cupid Falls, Pennsylvania. Ever since moving there as an orphaned teenager, she’s worked hard to carve out a place for herself in the tight-knit community. Now she’s mayor and owner of the town’s flower shop. But she also has a big secret…and nine months to figure out how to break the news to the father.

Lawyer Malcolm Carter has always been the golden boy of Cupid Falls—until he discovers the one night he spent with the girl-next-door turned out to have a lifetime of consequences. Now, the mother of his child wants nothing to do with him, and he’s gone from someone who is admired to persona non grata as the town rallies behind its mayor.

Malcolm has always known what he wants. But now as Christmas approaches, he’ll have to discover a way to show Kennedy that she could find the only thing she’s ever really wanted—a true home—with him. Convincing her will take the help of Cupid Falls’ quirky residents…and a bit of holiday magic.

I don't always set out to write a series of books, but seem to find myself gravitating to them. Because so many people have asked, I've posted lists of all my series in order at www.hollyjacobs.com/bookseries.html. I really try to make each story stand alone, but many of my readers enjoy reading the series in order. Hope this helps!

Thank you to everyone who's picked up a single book, or more of them. I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so much support!

Fun and heartwarming story. Kennedy is the very hands-on mayor of the small town. Her life revolves around the town and its people and the flower shop she owns. She is pregnant and hasn't told anyone who the father is - including the father.

Malcolm grew up in the house next door to Kennedy. Several months earlier, when his mother had died unexpectedly, he and Kennedy had shared their grief. That sharing had gone a little further than either had expected, and she's been on his mind a lot since then. When he makes a trip home to see his grandfather, the sight of a very pregnant Kennedy stuns him.

I loved Kennedy and Malcolm. They are both wonderful people who find themselves in an unexpected situation and have to find a way to deal with it. While Malcolm may have grown up in Cupid Falls, he works for his father's law firm in Pittsburgh. His parents divorced when he was young, and he remembers how difficult it was to have a father who wasn't truly involved in his life. He is determined to be part of his child's life and immediately proposes marriage to Kennedy. He's surprised when she turns him down, but takes a leave of absence from his job to stay in Cupid Falls to be near her and try to convince her.

Kennedy's parents had died when she was a teenager, so she went to live with her aunt in Cupid Falls. Though she had a good home there, Kennedy always felt like she was an obligation. When she discovered she was pregnant, she put off telling Malcolm for a long time. She always thought that he would simply leave the baby to her and go back to his life in the city. She was surprised to find that he wants to be part of the baby's life. Though she appreciates his offer of marriage, she is unwilling to have a marriage of obligation rather than love.

At the beginning, both admit they don't really know each other, but with Mal's plans to stay through the holidays that changes. I loved the way that he throws himself into life in Cupid Falls. He spends a lot of time watching out for Kennedy and helping her with various things, growing closer to her by the day. He keeps proposing to her, citing all the practical reasons they should marry, but not really thinking about what it would mean for both of them. He slowly begins to realize just how much he wants both Kennedy and the baby in his life, but can't admit to himself why that is. I loved the way that he finally saw the light, and what opened his eyes to his feelings.

Kennedy had fears about Mal taking the baby from her, but once she got to spend time with him she realized they were unfounded. She felt guilty about not telling him for so long. She was reluctant to spend much time with him at the beginning, because she didn't want to depend on him then have him go away. She was also afraid that the crush she had on him as a teenager would grow into real feelings for him, and that his departure would be too painful. Of course, those feelings did grow, making his proposals even harder to turn down, but she won't marry without love.

I loved seeing how they grew closer. It was the baby that started it, but it quickly became bigger. I loved seeing them share feelings and memories of the past and how those things shaped who they are now. I especially loved seeing how Mal's vision of what he wanted from life changed the longer he stayed in Cupid Falls. I loved the ending, with Mal's big moment being so sweet and romantic.

The secondary characters were fantastic and really brought the town to life. I loved all the little quirks that brought out their individuality, such as Clarence and his teasing and his wife's frog addiction. Jenny and her daughter Ivy were great friends to Kennedy. I really loved the way that the whole town was so supportive of her. Their treatment of Mal was pretty amusing, especially the way he reacted to it. It was really neat to see the way they all got involved in Mal's big moment. I also loved the guest appearance of Nana Vancy from the Everything But... series. She always adds an extra layer of fun to a story. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in the future.

PG - subject matter (unwed mother),
Language: no swears,
Violence: no violence,
Sex: some kissing
I couldn't connect with either my hero or my heroine. Their romance seemed clinical and detached. Not my favorite book.

This was a nice holiday read with two of my favorite things: Christmas and babies!

Kennedy owned the flower shop, Cupid' s Bowquet, and was also the mayor of Cupid Falls. She loved the little town and the people loved her. She'd had a crush on Malcolm Carter ever since they'd been in school together but he'd never paid her the time of day. Now she was carrying his baby.

When Mal' s mom passed away, he wasn't the only one grieving the loss. Kennedy and Val had been best friends. Val considered her the daughter of her heart. In an effort to comfort one another, Kennedy and Mal ended up spending the night with one another and Kennedy's pregnancy was the result. When Mal' s grandfather wants to retire, he decides to turn over the Civic Center to Mal. He wants Mal to come to Cupid Falls to discuss it. Mal is a successor attorney in nearby Erie, working for his father with whom he has a very poor relationship.

When Mal arrives in town, he quickly discovers he's going to be a dad. He immediately asks her to marry him but she refuses which doesn't put him off in the least. He truly believes they should marry for the baby's sake but Kennedy wants more. What follows is a delightful story of love at Christmas time. This is one I would definitely recommend.

This was a very very cute Christmas story, I am not saying I am getting into the Christmas spirit or anything (I can be scroogy) but this book did give me the warm fuzzies.

I loved Malcolm and Kennedy, I felt their dynamic was very sweet and I am so glad with the way the story ended.

This is a cute book for anyone who is hoping for a little Christmas cheer that will give you the warm fuzzies.

This is a terrific story! It's all about Mayor Kennedy, the much beloved mayor of the small town of Cupid Falls, PA. She finds herself a bit pregnant after having had a one nighter with an old friend/crush after the loss of a mutual loved one and when he happens to come back to town many months later, she decides she should probably tell him about the baby! He's rather shocked as one might be but is determined to do right even though Kennedy is quite set in her determination to be a single mother. Now the town on the other hand really loves their mayor and starts delivering quite the stink-eye at Mal (the father of the baby) because they think he up and left her as she is. All that, and that's just part of the story!
This is a great small town story that has feel good moments as well as some real fairly tough issues that are touched upon. Though really it's mostly a terrifically delightful feel good Christmas book that I really enjoyed.

my first read from author, love these books set in small towns, where everyone knows each other, and its a community looking out for one another...this was extra special, two people who thought they needed approval from others to make sense of their own lives undergoes the realisation what is it that they already have...I thought this was such sweet read...I hope to read all other books from author...

This book gave me the warm Christmas fuzzies all around. The story is sweet, the dynamic between the main characters is sweet and balanced. Neither is perfect and neither needs saving, they both just are kind to each other. I love the element of the small town in here - Kennedy is the mayor of a the town, and she is a pillar of the society, strong but also vulnerable. Definitely the sort of book that can warm you on the inside when it is cold outside.

Wonderful heartwarming characters in a village that you’d love to live in. With probably the first Mayor who is universally, unanimously loved by all.

Even though Mal got the shock of his life to discover that Kennedy was pregnant and imminently about to give birth to his baby, he didn’t turn tail and abandon her, as she wished him to. This is the story of his dogged pursuit of her.

A lovely story for the season.

Heartwarming story

I loved this story of small town, Cupid Falls. The close community and the love & care the people showed each other was refreshing. The mayor brought everyone together with her love for her town. When her neighbor, Malcolm returns home he finds he is going to be a father of the mayor's baby. Holly Jacob's wrote a beautiful story that gave me a feeling of being there.

2 stars. When I finished this book, I thought MEH? And I am a person, who does not use the term, meh and pretty much dislike that word! I finished listening to this book a few days ago and meant to review it already, since I felt it would be a forgettable book. And it is! I could not connect with any of the characters. I did not really care, but since the book was short, I decided to finish it. Even a few days after reading it, the details are getting fuzzy.

I picked this book for an easy read i wasn’t expecting much from it and it didn’t disappoint, repetitious in places, to the point where I was saying to myself “yeah I get it, you don’t have to keep repeating it”. But if you love a corny love story then you’ll enjoy. So just one star from me wasn’t my cup of tea.

Enjoyable read, even after the holidays. Story line was realistic and character interactions real life plausibility. Fun to take away the mundane life matters by escaping a few hours.

Cupid

A Christmas love story. It is nice to see strong women but there is a point when they can be too strong. Took a way from the story. Glad everything mellowed out and there was a happily ever after.

It was like reading a Hallmark movie. Enjoyed the book. Loved the ending.

This is the kind of story I like to read during the Christmas season. There are no grinches, really, and most people in it are pretty nice. It's a sweet love story and a tale of loss and redemption, and we probably all need to hear that kind of stuff.
