If they had half stars this book would be rated 3.5 stars... There are a lot great photos for the techniques but I felt they were incomplete and did not show the entire process and that is what was needed.... Case in point... LeMoyne star... they had one picture of setting in the corners... I needed more ... I think they are cramming so much information into the book they skipped important information... They should have included more of the advanced techniques in more detailed photo / descriptions, if that was their aim. If they wanted to show basic techniques they should have had more detail there. Maybe this book should have been divided into volume one and two, basic and advance.

I love the picture concept but thought they did not go into the detail need for it to be effective teaching tool.

This is an excellent reference book, and I have used it to teach myself how to quilt. The photos and instructions are excellent. Required reading for any newbie quilter.

I checked this out of the library once and decided I had to own it. There are several good project ideas with clear color pictures.
