I wanted to like this soooooo bad. Everytime I see a book with all good reviews, I don't like it. I think I'm cursed.
Nate is the lamest player in the history of players. What's with the bad pickup lines? And what kind of idiot falls for them?!
“I didn’t catch your name, wait let me guess it……. I bet it’s Candy; because damn you look good enough to eat.” WHAT?!!!!
“Well hi there, you know what? I’m glad you came over because my neck was starting to hurt where I was sneaking sly glances at you when you weren’t looking.”
I rest my case.
Rose did not seem like a single mum. More like a teenager with her first boyfriend. One minute confident, the next giggling 15 year old.
In the beginning, I was rooting for the couple, until he cheated. I hate cheaters, especially ones who don't have a good reason.
"I honestly thought she was with that guy." Why not wait and ask like a grown up?
And Rose just lets it go...
"My body desperately wanted him to make me fall into oblivion with his name on my lips."
That is not a good reason to be with someone whose first reaction to bad news is sleeping with someone else. I mean you call him "Player"!!

This book sort of got on my nerves after a while. I'll list the reasons:
1. It was too long winded, it took forever and a say to finally get to the point, all the explaining was totally uncalled for - no matter how funny Nate was!
2. Rosie was a stupid idiot! I felt like smacking her at times - the way she allowed the douche nozzle ex of hers to continue talking to her, in front of her current boyfriend no less showed her thinking capabilities were not up to par. I started to feel for Nate at this point!
3. The characters acted a bit too immature at times for me, I couldn't connect with them. They acted more like 16 instead of twenty something.
Being totally honest I didn't even finish read this... I skimmed it cause I got to the point where I just wanted to strangle that Rosie chick and I did find Nate turned in to a bit of a putz! I think this is my last hoorah from this author cause I find there is too much of a common thread with her females - they all come off a bit selfish.

This book was AMAZING!!! It got better as if progressed, but still a stunner. I love how we get to see Ashton and Anna again! <3 I was lucky enough to read this when it was still on wattpad

Got as far as page 6. Ugh. I don't think I have ever given up on a book as early as p.6 before, and I have read some bad books. Amateurish writing, stilted dialogue, extremely corny, cliched, cardboard cut-out characters, descriptively basic and predictable, the numerous exclamation marks got annoying VERY quickly etc. I could go on...

I seriously do not understand why this would be a popular book.
I have never read so many clichés in one book! THE most perfect man falls for THE most perfect (but insecure) woman with stunning looks. She cannot believe he really likes her, and he proves her wrong by being the most perfect, attentive boyfriend, lover, dad, son in law, while being a tough cop and in between saving people from burning buildings. Yeah right..

Review: Jo Rushton 4.5 Stars ARC received for Honest Review
"Enjoying the Chase" was another brilliant book by Kirsty Moseley. This author always delivers when it comes to writing a heart warming love story and this was is no exception. I loved this story of "player" Nate and "hard to get" Rosie who we first back back in "Nothing to Lose." Nate was Ashton's best friend/ flirty room mate and colleague in the SWAT team and Rosie was Anna's best friend. Don't worry though, you don't have to have read "Nothing to Lose" before reading this (although it was a fab book too and I would definitely recommend it).
Nate was the ultimate man whore and a master of the cheesy chat up lines. He (of course) was sexy as hell and made most girls go weak at the knees if he so much as looked at them. Except for Rosie, that is. Rosie was smart, beautiful and strong and was determined to stay away from men like Nate. But why? Something was stopping her from being even a little bit dazzled by him and my mind worked overtime trying to work out the reason. Rosie kept me second guessing for a while.
When Nate met Rosie he was blown away by her beauty. He wanted nothing more than to show her the "Nate Peters special" (lol) but his usual method of impressing the girls wasn't working on her. Nate was not going to give up easily though and it's a good job because this was one hell of a long chase.
Because Rosie played hard to get, Nate found himself spending more and more time with her... but the more time he spent with her... the more his feelings for her grew and the more his play boy lifestyle went out of the window.
Nate was a changed man, and I for one, loved the shift in his character. Now all he had to do was prove this to Rosie. Easier said then done. Bring on the chase!
I truly enjoyed this story and I felt that I really got to know that characters well. I was pleased I got the opportunity to catch up with Ashton and Anna too. It was lovely to see what developments had happened in their lives. I loved how both couple's stories were interwoven within the book. At one point though, I did find that the story was beginning to get a bit too long but that was until something happened that I was totally not expecting. Something so bad that I was reduced to big ugly tears. I feared the worst. Kirsty had truly lulled me into a false sense of security. I was totally unprepared for the emotional wreck that I became.
By the end of the story, everything had turned around for the better and I was left with big smile on my face and a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart. "Enjoying the Chase" ended beautifully with the most perfect epilogue. Once again Kirsty did not disappoint. I just love a HEA!

Everything was perfect. I never thought that I would be this happy with a man. For all my life, I had never even dared to dream that I would have the perfect guy all wrapped up into one gorgeous, charming, smutty perverted package. I really was the luckiest girl in the world.

I loved this book! It's sappy and cheesy but sometimes you just need a good dose of both. The scenes with Nate and DJ...ugh...I died...totally girly porn. I went back and read the whole thing all over again. This was totally my guilty indulgence for the week ❤

This is going to be somewhat of an unofficial review.
The first time I read this book was on Wattpad. And by those standards, it's pretty good. But now that it's been published, I expected lots of changes that weren't there.
The writing is still the same, i.e., unimpressive and having to many too many italisized 'Holy shit! she did this for me?' type moments. The narrative isn't mature enough for character in their mid-twenties. The story is cheesy and goes on for a lot longer that it should have. Honestly, there were so many things and scenes that didn't need to be there.
The book is funny and sometimes cute, I'll give it that. But it's not enough to make up for the bad. This book, before publishing, needed a rewrite and some heavy editing. And that editing should have included reducing the number of times the phrase "burst out laughing" was used. It was used 49 times by that way.
Overall, while there are some parts I like, it's hard to focus on those with the writing and the cringing. This was better staying on Wattpad.

Nate Peters!! I remember him well Ashton Taylor’s best friend in “Nothing Next To Lose” like Aston he was a sexy bad-ass SWAT agent. Nate was funny loyal, protective, confident, and oh so cocky, and such a player, and a man whore who didn’t do relationship, and claimed he was never going to fall in love, and so far he was sticking to this plan until he meets Rosie York Anna’s best friend, and someone who is going to blow that plan right out of the window.
Rosie doesn’t trust men due to a past relationship. She sees Nate for the player that he is. She is immune to his charms, and his cheesy pick up lines something that Nate is certainly not use to.
“I’m not your type? What the hell does that mean? What wrong with me?”
“I don’t go for cocky, overconfident guys that care more about how they look then whether they have something interesting to say. Players just don’t do it for me”.
Rosie and Nate are cute together, and I like the way that things develop slowly, is was insta attraction, but no insta love here, a friendship that turns into more. Rosie is sweet and doesn't take any crap from Nate. For the first time, Rosie made Nate see that if he really wanted her he would have to prove it. Nate was going to have to use a very different approach a bit of old fashion romance perhaps if he wants to win this girl over.
“Moving from one girl to the next sometimes left me feeling empty. Sometimes I just longed for someone to hold, protect and call my own. Since I'd met Rosie I hadn't been able to get her out of my head, she'd taken over everything and I knew I needed to give it my best shot with her.”
The storyline was a well-written sweet, funny romance. Although it’s a longer read the drama, and angst is good, and not too over the top. Kristy does throw a few twists along the way. One that I have to say was emotional; tension filled, and had me reaching for the tissues, as I feared the outcome. Told from Nate and Rosie’s POV. Rosie’s lets you see her worries, and insecurities, about letting Nate get too close. Love the way Nate thinks, hilarious at times, you could see the changes in him, but the was still the Nate we loved.
"I'm not the guy your mom warned you about. Your mom doesn't have this much imagination," I joked, winking at her.”
Anna and Aston are back, and it was lovely to see what happing in their lives. Nate’s family was too funny especially his mum. I loved the scenes with them. His mum was the best.
Overall I really enjoyed this book it was another one of Kirsty Moseley’s books that I would recommend, and that I finish with a smile on my face. It had a lovely epilogue that gave me the HEA that I always love in a book. I would recommend this book as Nate Peters is one of those swoon worthy characters you should meet.

Kirsty has done it again, giving us another amazing love story. Nate Peters is introduced in Nothing Left to Lose, you don't necessarily have to read it first,but I recommend it so you will be familiar with some of the characters.
Nate is a player with no responsibilities and lives his life hanging with friends and hooking up with random women. When he meets Rosie York she turns his world upside down by rejecting his pick-up lines and charm. This is a first for Nate and he does not take it well. He makes it his mission to get Rosie to give him a chance. Let's just say Rosie puts a huge dent in Nate's ego.
Rosie York is all too familiar with cocky, attractive, player types like Nate. She has been burned in the past and does not want to go down that path again and end up with another broken heart. Rosie has a hard time avoiding Nate being that her best friend is Anna, who happens to be married to Nate's best friend Ashton.
I really enjoyed how the majority of the book is from Nate's POV and has Rosie's POV sporadically through the book. Being in Nate's head is very entertaining and quite hilarious. I also liked seeing Nate go through experiences that is new to him and how he constantly questions himself. It is very adorable. The way he handles learning about certain surprises in Rosie's life makes him an awesome book boyfriend. I was constantly swooning. I absolutely love Nate's family, especially his mom, she is crazy funny. This story felt very realistic. Highly recommend Enjoying the Chase. I know I would love to be chased by Nate Peters.

I really wanted to like this book! and when I thought I was, it made a turn... and then 85% happened, and I did cry, and THEN we finally got the good stuff... hmmph.

Niestety, ale pozycja ta mnie bardzo rozczarowała. Nie była zła, było to fajne new adult, ale jednak prawie nic się tutaj nie działo, przez co książka ta była zwyczajnie nudna. Szkoda, bo miała potencjał.
Mam wrażenie, że był to bardziej zwyczajny romas, aniżeli new adult. Niby bohaterka ma jakąś przeszłość, ale w ogóle nas nie szokuj, a raczej trochę rozczarowuje. Im dalej, tym właściwie nudnej. Szkoda.

“Enjoying the chase” è il secondo volume della serie “Guarded Hearts” di Kirsty Moseley. Ho scoperto come sia scoppiato tutto su Watpad, e come sia poi diventato un fenomeno di vendite come libro autopubblicato. In realtà io ho letto prima questo, e lo avevo apprezzato molto più del primo, assolutamente inconcludente, e Nate mi aveva intrigato parecchio. Una romance d’impatto, anche se non sviluppata a dovere.
Nate Peters sta vivendo come un playboy. Ha amici grandiosi, un lavoro favoloso, nessuna responsabilità, nessuna ragazza e ama tutto questo. Nate, essendo bravissimo con le battute da rimorchio, non ha mai fallito nel far colpo con una ragazza… fino al giorno in cui ha incontrato Rosie York. Rosie è completamente disinteressata. Non potendo sopportare il suo ego danneggiato, Nate decide di conquistarla. Non abituato ad impegnarsi molto, Nate sta inaspettatamente amando la caccia di questa piccola castana fuori portata. Forse ha incontrato la sua vera controparte… ma Rosie ha alcune sorprese che renderanno molto più difficile avvicinarsi a lei.
C’è da dire che non c’è niente di particolarmente sconvolgente in questo libro, anzi è sostanzialmente una romance come ce ne sono tante. Io l’ho letto mentre ero occupata con il mio adorato Axel Vandemberg, e avevo bisogno di una lettura più leggera e meno impattante. Di certo sono rimasta colpita da Nate Peters anche se effettivamente ancora una volta la trama è stata affrettata e molti particolari che avrebbero reso la storia più viva e interessante sono stati sorvolati o trattati con superficialità, facendo perdere di credibilità a tutta la vicenda.
Principalmente è Nate a raccontare la sua storia in prima persona, ma non mancano parti raccontante dal punto di vista di Rosie che cerca di mostrarci sé stessa e le motivazioni che la spingono a determinate scelte. Nate vive il ruolo del playboy, venticinque anni, è il classico ragazzo che vive tutto appieno, senza fermarsi troppo a riflettere ma prendendo tutto come viene. Vive per il suo lavoro, un tiratore scelto del corpo speciale della polizia americana, ma allo stesso tempo non si lascia scappare l’occasione per vivere alla giornata, danzando da una gonnella ad un’altra. Ma Nate è molto più di questo, e l’incontro con Rosie lo cambia in modo definitivo. O perlomeno gli mostra l’altra faccia della medaglia, la relazione con una donna che cattura ogni aspetto di te e di quello che desideri, vivendolo appieno. Allora Nate lotta come non hai mai lottato per imporsi nella mente e nella vita di Rosie. Non smette di mostrarle cosa vuole davvero nonostante i limiti imposti da Rosie e i suoi commenti spinti e quasi inopportuni che non mancano di strappare un sorriso a Rosie.
Nate riuscirà a dimostrare un coraggio fuori dal comune, un amore unico, un senso del dovere micidiale, una presenza di spirito impressionante e un numero considerevole di altre impressionanti capacità. Nate è un maschio, ma un maschio capace di superare i suoi pregiudizi e amare davvero.
Rosie è una donna che deve mettere davanti alla sua felicità le priorità della sua vita quotidiana, non di meno, non riesce a rinunciare alle sensazioni positive che le regala Nate. È una donna che ha sofferto molto, abituata a fare tutto da sola, ma che in fin dei conti è pronta ad appoggiarsi ad uomo forte per andare avanti in un mondo che congiura continuamente contro. Ma la vita è così alti e bassi.
Ci sono molti spunti interessanti, tutti gestiti in modo grossolano a partire dalla famiglia, dal matrimonio, per arrivare al lavoro di Nate. In certi momenti in cui si parla davvero di lui e di quello che gli succede credevo di leggere pagine intense, di emotività pura, invece viene tutto liquidato in maniera sbrigativa. Ho davvero apprezzato i momenti intimi tra i due e passione che si sprigiona sul divano dell’appartamento di Rosie, ma in definitiva non sono riuscita a connettermi appieno con i due personaggi, non caratterizzati al meglio.
I personaggi secondari sono quelli del primo volume, non solo Anna e Ashton, ma anche i loro amici che non mancano di comparire e far danni. E come dimenticare DJ? Il mio preferito senza dubbio.
L’ambientazione è definita in modo chiaro, ci troviamo infatti a Los Angeles dove Nate vive e Rosie si è appena trasferita. In realtà ci potremmo trovare in qualunque città, visto che mancano di descrizioni e la maggior parte degli eventi si svolgono nell’appartamento della donna. Insomma manca di una vera indicazione geografica, che non sia citare solo la città sullo sfondo.
Il particolare da non dimenticare? Il dvd di Toy Story 3.
Una romance senza spina dorsale, che si regge in gran parte sulle scene erotiche e che manca di emozioni e sviluppo coerente e di impatto. Più incisivo di “Nothing left to lose” pure ne manca di sostanza e in definitiva non mi ha convinta. Una romance è intrattenimento si, ma deve conservare una certa coerenza e originalità. Insomma devono essere capaci di regalare emozioni.

I don think I’ve ever DNF a book so fast before. Nate came across as immature & obnoxious. The dialogue was beyond cheesy.

Even though this book is called Enjoying the Chase, there is NOTHING enjoyable about this book. Both characters are annoying, and the the romance element is whiny and unrealistic. Not to mention, it is a WASTE OF PAPER with the length that it is.

Let me start by saying that I did not like Nate in the beginning. Personally he seemed to surpass the typical man-whore stereotypes and take it one step further. Every night Nate has a new girl, hell, maybe even more than one a day. It’s his life, basically sex is the only release he knows. Actually having a girlfriend? Yeah, right, not this man.
I was quickly sucked into this story. I’ve read other books by this author and loved them all. Slowly Enjoying the Chase grew on me and even with a somewhat lengthy read I managed to finish by 4 AM. I’m honestly shocked by how much this book grew on me. Both Nate and Rosie were great characters and the dual POV was a great way to understand them both. Again I repeat I wasn’t a fan of Nate. Especially when he gets mad, he doesn’t always behave in the most adult like manner. Depending on perception there is a sorta cheating moment that occurs but again I think it’s all based on perception. Rosie was a strong character and considering her shitty past I was surprised she forgave and moved on with Nate so easily and quickly.
I was surprised by how different this book was than Nothing Left to Lose. Where that book had a more suspenseful nature mixed in with the romance, I felt that Enjoying the Chase was more focused on the relationship and growing bond between Nate and Rosie rather than any other outside drama. Considering there is not much more than a romance going on, the story did not feel overly long or draggy to which I am extremely grateful.
Nate first meets Rosie in the hospital visiting his best friend Ashton, Anna and their newborn son. (Characters from Nothing to Lose.) Nate’s first thought is how badly he wants Rosie in his bed. She’s a distraction he wants out of his system and he has plans for her. What Nate never expects is to have Rosie turn him down. Nate NEVER gets turned down. His overly cheap and skeevy lines seem to work like magic and have panties thrown at him in an instant. Rosie’s panties don’t come anywhere near Nate and he’s extremely disappointed. Over and over Rosie turns down Nate and his man-whore ways. Rosie has secrets that make her life a lot more complicated and living the young life like Nate is out of the question.
However, Nate doesn’t give up easily. He can’t get Rosie out of his mind and won’t stop until he has her. Of course things get a bit more complicated when Rosie informs him she doesn’t sleep with anyone she doesn’t love. Uh-Oh. Hold the breaks. Obviously this puts Nate, a man who can’t without sex for a day, in a touchy position. Should he give up on Rosie and move on? Or does he have the will power to last and make her fall in love with him? (I don’t think Rosie’s ‘secret’ was too hard to guess even before it was brought up. But I don’t think it matter because she’s such a strong and powerful character that this just makes her much more likable and respectable.)
This book had a surprising amount of LOL moments. I wasn’t expecting that. I had to take a break at one point because of how badly my face was hurting. The character of DJ added a lot to this and I don’t want to give away too much about him but he was great, adorable and almost too perfect.
When the end came I was shocked. Things seemed over too fast and I was sad to say goodbye to these characters. I couldn’t have been more surprised but the shocking climax at the end though, it was pretty scary. Nate completely turned me for a loop. I am totally a Nate-A-Holic now and I’m not usually one to fall for a bad boys charm no matter what. Rosie is just what Nate needs to become a real civilized man. He learns how to grow up to a point and be worthy of someone like her. As if him being a SWAT agent, a deadly shot and a perverted non-romantic, he is also a hero and I guarantee he will capture your heart as he did mine and Rosie’s. This was a great romantic read with a steady non-insta-love romance that was enjoyable to read. Smart mouth kids, over-exuberant mothers and a beautiful love is what you’ll find here…
P.S. I have a girl crush on Nate’s mom. There’s nothing not to love about her and she had me laughing often enough to leave my stomach with cramps!!! Be warned of overly excited mothers with plans of marrying her son off even if she thought his love of little mermaid meant his was gay rather than grossly attracted to a red headed mermaid : )

What happened to Josh? Did he actually never come back? I’m surprised he didn’t put up a fight with the whole adoption thing?
What was up with the fire? What actually happened?
**And I don’t think I can take it if Seth gets a book… Ok I lied, I NEED Seth to get a book. I already know a man as determined to never fall in love or heaven forbid get a girl pregnant is going to have a remarkable crash into love when it finally crashes into him. Is Seth getting a book???????

Nate and Rosie are 1 seriously dirty, dirty couple... And I love it!
Okay, I'll be completely honest here. I read this book way back when I was still in high school. And so years later, I decided to buy the book off Amazon, (because why not) and read it all over again. And loooord did it not disappoint. Before I began reading this book again, I intially thought that I was going to be internally cringing throughout. Because for one, I'm no longer the reader that I was like 5 years ago. And two, based on the plot it seemed like it was going to be one of those disgustingly sappy, wish-fullfillment stories. (Okay, maybe the beginning of ETC was cringy.) However as I kept on reading, I hadn't realized how much I had forgotten about the story, and how much I actually enjoyed reading about Nate and Rosie.
Goodness, I was glad that I was proven wrong, honestly. I thought my viewpoint would change after reading it a second time, but now that I'm older, I actually ended up appreciating it more. There's just something about this book that makes it hit differently. And you know, despite all of the lower reviews here on Goodreads, I still had a fun time while reading this. And I think that's what matters when it comes to reading and entertainment. There are some books out there that make you laugh, or cry, or think deeply and analyze. And then there are books that just give you a load of everything. As long as a book has the power to move or entertain you, that's all that should matter. (No matter how dumb or shallow.)
This book was simply a fun, feel-good read. I'll admit, there wasn't really a "heavy story" being driven in ETC, but even in its simplicity, it still entertained. Sometimes it's good to take a break from the heavy books and read something lighter. That's okay. Enjoying the Chase made me laugh out loud--basically to tears, swoon, and shockingly, cry. (There's a scene in particular during the climax that just made me burst from all the emotion.) This book made me feel almost everything from happiness all the way down to utter frustration.
The basic premise of this book is a cliche. Basically, the story is centered around Nate Peters. A basic grade A fuckboy who just can't seem to pick a woman and settle down. He's living the life. No complicated love life, no commitment issues, none of that love crap. Just sex, work, repeat. At least, not until he meets Rosie York. She's off limits, and a person who doesn't buy any of Nate's fuckboy antics. Unable to stand a dented ego, he makes it his eventual mission to make Rosie fall for him--but it soon proves to be a challenge because of complications that stand in the way of him winning the girl. Thus you have the plot of Enjoying the Chase.
Now even with the basic plot, to me, this book still stands out. For one thing, despite the story containing one of the most basic of plots, this one stands out as one of the more realistic. I think that's why it stuck with me so much. There are surprisingly so many life lessons to take from in this story. And it's also the characters that really drive this book.
Nate Peters no doubt is the absolute star of the book. I LOVE HIM. People are easy to brush off this story because of its cliche premise with Nate being a fuckboy trying to win over a girl. But that's not why I love this story or him. In general, I kind of hate these kinds of stories. But Enjoying the Chase hits differently. Why? Because of Nate Peters. He outsold in this book.
I've read 4 of Kirsty Moseley's books. Those being: The Boy Who Sneaks Into my Bedroom Window, Always You, Nothing Left to Lose (ETC's prequel novel), and this. And with that, my favorite story being Enjoying the Chase. I enjoyed NLTL, but I loved ETC simply because of how much more believable the story was, and how entertaining it is. Now all 4 of these stories have something in common. All their leading men are said to be "players." So what exactly makes Nate different from the rest? While Liam, Clay, and Ashton are all players, they are essentially, too PERFECT. Like as soon as they get the girl, they become this unrealistically PERFECT, STOCK CHARACTER, PRINCE CHARMING.
But with Nate, he hits different because he's essentially the complete opposite of perfect. He's a player written right. Because in reality, if a fuckboy were to chase after a girl and get rejected or have his ego dented, absolutely he'd find another chick to bang just to make himself feel better again. Another thing, fuckboys can't do romance. That's just a fact. They can swoon you to bed, but they absolutely cannot swoon you with love. (It's like an allergic reaction to them.) And here, it is evident, front and center that Nate cannot do romance. (At least in the way Ashton or Liam or Clay do it.) And that's just something that I love about him. He's written as a guy who doesn't know how to do romance properly, and with that, he has to really work for it in order to win Rosie over.
Out of all the leading men in Moseley's books, Nate's probably the most flawed. The most realistic one there. Because look, he's charming, funny, a "great seducer." But he’s also cocky, & self-centred. He's bad at love, dating, and he's seriously insecure about all of it. When he starts dating Rosie, he's frightened because all these new feelings that make his heart go "boom," such as romantic love, are different. And that makes him insecure. But still he continues to chase Rosie because depite all that, he really, wants her.
And I'm simply a sucker for characters like Nate. He's a guy who has an actual personality. He feels like a real person. I love characters who are essentially good people, but are quite flawed in many, many aspects. Like com'on. When Rosie hits him with some romantic comment, he replies back with:
Yikes.
When he unintentionally says "I love you" during sex, he immediatly takes it back, before realizing that it sounds so wrong. He's a flawed character who repeatedly tries to do better. And if it isn't evident by now, it's his character development throughout the story that drives it forewords.
And Rosie. Good God I actually LOVE her too. Rosie, to me, has an incredible backbone that it's endearing. She's a strong person, a little complex, and is an equally wonderful person as Nate. She's also a character that doesn't need saving every two seconds, rather she's the one who saves the man every so often! ETC is written in mostly Nate's pov, with Rosie being used sparingly. And I loved that we see Rosie's pov even if it's not that much. There's a lot of realism that happens in her chapters, and her inner conflict is intersting as it is endearing. The love that she has for DJ and her growing love for Nate come hand-in-hand and that is evident during the climax of the story.
Her strength is quite admirable, especially if you're a person who's been in her shoes. I can't spoil, but her inner conflicts is what makes her a flawed person too. I also love her because she is a not a perfect woman. Not even close. But even with all the challenges she faces, she still tries to be better and to find strength with the two people who she loves most. And my absolute favorite thing about her is that she accepts Nate for who he is--for who he isn't. And that's what love's all about, right? Loving your significant other despite all the imperfections and flaws that make them different.
The reason why I'll always love this story is because no matter how silly or feel-good the story is, Nate and Rosie's character development is what makes it for me. It's their growth that they go through alone and together is what will always make Enjoying the Chase memorable.
She and Nate are two people who are just going through life together. They are each other's weakness, strength and most importantly, EQUALS. Each other's other halves that make them whole. Despite all the challenges they face, they are quite frankly, one of the healthiest couples I've read about in adult fiction. Because with all the problems they face, they communicate with one another. They trust and care for each other. And importantly, they don't drag each other down with their faults. They accept one another and help each other be better people.
Okay, I'll be completely honest here. I read this book way back when I was still in high school. And so years later, I decided to buy the book off Amazon, (because why not) and read it all over again. And loooord did it not disappoint. Before I began reading this book again, I intially thought that I was going to be internally cringing throughout. Because for one, I'm no longer the reader that I was like 5 years ago. And two, based on the plot it seemed like it was going to be one of those disgustingly sappy, wish-fullfillment stories. (Okay, maybe the beginning of ETC was cringy.) However as I kept on reading, I hadn't realized how much I had forgotten about the story, and how much I actually enjoyed reading about Nate and Rosie.
Goodness, I was glad that I was proven wrong, honestly. I thought my viewpoint would change after reading it a second time, but now that I'm older, I actually ended up appreciating it more. There's just something about this book that makes it hit differently. And you know, despite all of the lower reviews here on Goodreads, I still had a fun time while reading this. And I think that's what matters when it comes to reading and entertainment. There are some books out there that make you laugh, or cry, or think deeply and analyze. And then there are books that just give you a load of everything. As long as a book has the power to move or entertain you, that's all that should matter. (No matter how dumb or shallow.)
This book was simply a fun, feel-good read. I'll admit, there wasn't really a "heavy story" being driven in ETC, but even in its simplicity, it still entertained. Sometimes it's good to take a break from the heavy books and read something lighter. That's okay. Enjoying the Chase made me laugh out loud--basically to tears, swoon, and shockingly, cry. (There's a scene in particular during the climax that just made me burst from all the emotion.) This book made me feel almost everything from happiness all the way down to utter frustration.
The basic premise of this book is a cliche. Basically, the story is centered around Nate Peters. A basic grade A fuckboy who just can't seem to pick a woman and settle down. He's living the life. No complicated love life, no commitment issues, none of that love crap. Just sex, work, repeat. At least, not until he meets Rosie York. She's off limits, and a person who doesn't buy any of Nate's fuckboy antics. Unable to stand a dented ego, he makes it his eventual mission to make Rosie fall for him--but it soon proves to be a challenge because of complications that stand in the way of him winning the girl. Thus you have the plot of Enjoying the Chase.
Now even with the basic plot, to me, this book still stands out. For one thing, despite the story containing one of the most basic of plots, this one stands out as one of the more realistic. I think that's why it stuck with me so much. There are surprisingly so many life lessons to take from in this story. And it's also the characters that really drive this book.
Nate Peters no doubt is the absolute star of the book. I LOVE HIM. People are easy to brush off this story because of its cliche premise with Nate being a fuckboy trying to win over a girl. But that's not why I love this story or him. In general, I kind of hate these kinds of stories. But Enjoying the Chase hits differently. Why? Because of Nate Peters. He outsold in this book.
I've read 4 of Kirsty Moseley's books. Those being: The Boy Who Sneaks Into my Bedroom Window, Always You, Nothing Left to Lose (ETC's prequel novel), and this. And with that, my favorite story being Enjoying the Chase. I enjoyed NLTL, but I loved ETC simply because of how much more believable the story was, and how entertaining it is. Now all 4 of these stories have something in common. All their leading men are said to be "players." So what exactly makes Nate different from the rest? While Liam, Clay, and Ashton are all players, they are essentially, too PERFECT. Like as soon as they get the girl, they become this unrealistically PERFECT, STOCK CHARACTER, PRINCE CHARMING.
But with Nate, he hits different because he's essentially the complete opposite of perfect. He's a player written right. Because in reality, if a fuckboy were to chase after a girl and get rejected or have his ego dented, absolutely he'd find another chick to bang just to make himself feel better again. Another thing, fuckboys can't do romance. That's just a fact. They can swoon you to bed, but they absolutely cannot swoon you with love. (It's like an allergic reaction to them.) And here, it is evident, front and center that Nate cannot do romance. (At least in the way Ashton or Liam or Clay do it.) And that's just something that I love about him. He's written as a guy who doesn't know how to do romance properly, and with that, he has to really work for it in order to win Rosie over.
Out of all the leading men in Moseley's books, Nate's probably the most flawed. The most realistic one there. Because look, he's charming, funny, a "great seducer." But he’s also cocky, & self-centred. He's bad at love, dating, and he's seriously insecure about all of it. When he starts dating Rosie, he's frightened because all these new feelings that make his heart go "boom," such as romantic love, are different. And that makes him insecure. But still he continues to chase Rosie because depite all that, he really, wants her.
And I'm simply a sucker for characters like Nate. He's a guy who has an actual personality. He feels like a real person. I love characters who are essentially good people, but are quite flawed in many, many aspects. Like com'on. When Rosie hits him with some romantic comment, he replies back with:
"Well that's great, it means that you'll fall for me pretty soon, and I won't have to keep jacking off to a picture of you."
Yikes.
When he unintentionally says "I love you" during sex, he immediatly takes it back, before realizing that it sounds so wrong. He's a flawed character who repeatedly tries to do better. And if it isn't evident by now, it's his character development throughout the story that drives it forewords.
And Rosie. Good God I actually LOVE her too. Rosie, to me, has an incredible backbone that it's endearing. She's a strong person, a little complex, and is an equally wonderful person as Nate. She's also a character that doesn't need saving every two seconds, rather she's the one who saves the man every so often! ETC is written in mostly Nate's pov, with Rosie being used sparingly. And I loved that we see Rosie's pov even if it's not that much. There's a lot of realism that happens in her chapters, and her inner conflict is intersting as it is endearing. The love that she has for DJ and her growing love for Nate come hand-in-hand and that is evident during the climax of the story.
Her strength is quite admirable, especially if you're a person who's been in her shoes. I can't spoil, but her inner conflicts is what makes her a flawed person too. I also love her because she is a not a perfect woman. Not even close. But even with all the challenges she faces, she still tries to be better and to find strength with the two people who she loves most. And my absolute favorite thing about her is that she accepts Nate for who he is--for who he isn't. And that's what love's all about, right? Loving your significant other despite all the imperfections and flaws that make them different.
"Don't ever change." [...] "I love that you can't say anything romantic without messing it up. I love that you have no idea how sweet you are sometimes. I love that you make me laugh with the smut that overflows from your mouth. I just love everything about you, Nate. So don't ever change."
The reason why I'll always love this story is because no matter how silly or feel-good the story is, Nate and Rosie's character development is what makes it for me. It's their growth that they go through alone and together is what will always make Enjoying the Chase memorable.

Kirsty Moseley never disappoint . I was l looking forward to this since I really miss Ashton and Anna (Nothing left to Lose ) so a glimpse of them is a plus factor , secondly I want to know how player Nate Peters will fall down on unto his knees.

I was surprised at the beginning of this story, Its like Im not reading a Moseley book but still a Moseley because of my familiarity with the characters. There's no heavy weight drama and traumatic past. Smooth sailing , hard courtship journey of a typical player Nate to fall in love head over heels to Rosie, a single mother. At first, I really find it hard to like Rosie - she is just not clicking in to me it really took me awhile. Its just missing something somewhere I couldn't pinpoint. Kirsty's story always challenge me emotionally - so it was a change. I usually finished her book overnight but this took me a bit longer.
I love Ashton and Anna - seriously everytime I turn a page - I hope they have a part on it. I love Nate , the way he express himself romantically funny and all the pick up lines made me lol . When he falls, he falls hard and he is determined and loyal. Rosie, a very loving mother - hands up on how she prioritized and her strong will to stand by it. I think I dislike her at the beginning because she used Nate for personal satisfaction and selfish reason while Nate is pulling all the stop to prove to her that he is serious about her. Even her keeping DJ at the beginning from him so that she can enjoy him before he run a mile pissed me off (Im always team Nate) However , she came through though. And the growing relationship between Nate, Rosie and DJ was beautiful.
80% of this story I was convinced that Kirsty wrote a light hearted story - something to make our hearts warm and fuzzy , so I was thinking WOW there's no heavy stuff and I kind of miss it. and BOOM -- that fire tragedy ,it made my eyes sting and burning. my heart crush and twisted for Nate and DJ. If there is one thing I love about Kirsty's writing is her ability to relay the emotions at that moment that you can actually see through the characters eyes, the love , the pain , the fear.
What happened from hereon was amazing - you have to love Nate he is just full of love and positivity and determination, even he was at that life threatening situation. Rosie shine through once she opened her heart to Nate. DJs add that soft heart warming touch - Ashton and Anna , still made me smile Im about to read Nothing Left to lose again and Im dying for a sequel or short novella.
Everytime Im about to finish Kirstys' book , I want more - she created a story that I am a part of it. Thank you Kirsty for these wonderful books and I look forward for more.

Overly confident Man-whore Nate sets out to claim Rosie York as his next conquest. But she ain't having none of that. She straight up tells him to move on, because the next guy that she has sex with will be someone she loves. How hard could that be? Nate thinks he has this in the bag until he starts realizing that he actually has feelings for her. Now he has to wonder if he could be the one heartbroken in the end.
The Nate Peters you meet in the beginning of the book is nothing like the Nate Peters in the end. We slowly watch this amazing guy go from spitting out sleazy one liners to spouting words of endearments. Even when he finds out about Rosie's 'baggage' he still sticks around. And that made him even more adorable in my eyes. I loved his relationship with his family, especially his crazy and hilarious mother. It shows that he had a great upbringing and would eventually grow out of his whorish ways.
And Rosie was oak throughout this story. This girl has priorities in her life that a lot of women out there will relate to. It was a refreshing change for me to read about. Not a lot of stories gravitate around that. What is 'that' you might ask? Yeah, I really cannot go into it without divulging a major plot twist. But Moseley did a great job and I applaud her for making Rosie one of the good ones. Sadly there are those out there that would put their own needs in front on others.
Absolutely a fun and enjoyable read with a couple secondary characters you cannot help but love. Future stories? I could see those happening. Would love to see a few get their own book and their own romance. Yes, let’s make this happen Moseley!

How many times can we watch Nate get rejected and crash and burn? But with all the other things coming at them from the wayside, I found that the story got better and better as it went on. It was a hard book to put down, but undoubtedly an easy one to start back up again. Now while I didn't like this one as much as NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE (Ashton and Anna's story) I still enjoyed it and absolutely recommend it. 5 smokin’ hot stars!

Oh… How I love me some Kirsty Moseley!!!! My first introduction was through The Boy Who Sneaks Through My Bedroom Window, and let me just tell you have amazing that experience was; Oh Yeah I did in its raving review. Which is quite similar to the raving review that book one of the Guarded Hearts series enticed. Which should leave you fairly unsurprised that Enjoying the Chase will have the same raving review. Due to the small number of titles published, and the short time I have been following I have only experienced three books from this wonderful author. Each and every further seals my deep loyalty and love for her style and knack for creating an inspiring romance. Nate and Rosie are not new characters, since we experienced both in the debut novel of this series. They are deeply loved for their roles in the past story, as best friends to main characters, but the depth of their personalities was unexpected. They are such wonderful characters, and I was captivated by their story. Furthermore, I can not express how absolutely perfect they were created for one another. When you offer a storyline of the two best friends falling in love there is a slight risk of the story feeling forced and unrealistic. I didn’t feel any of this with Rosie and Nate’s story. There was never even a question while reading of how convenient the relationship would be. It was so friction filled that I easily overlooked the convenience, and was rooting for Nate to be the better man. As a Mother, I felt a deep connection to this story; just as any Mother will be a sure fan. Watching the trials for this single mother and child is hard, and left me rooting for a better future. Rosie is a strong and independent character never looking for a handout, and always willing to do what ever it takes to provide. I especially loved the lack of girly personality from her. Everything about his story jumped out at me leaving me feeling right at home in story. I can not wait to see if Moseley has more in store for the Guarded Hearts series. This is a five star series from a five star author.

I finished this book a while ago therefore I couldn't exactly recall how funny and amazing this book was! I definitely got to buy a hardcover when it is published.
I was in love with Nate and Rosie. Maybe because Rosie is being played by Ashley Greene and Nate is being played by Chris Evans? Hehe, it did helped a little.
One of the reasons why I loved this book to the core was because the way Nate changed for Rosie all by himself and willingly that that alone took my breath away. Most writers would have the cliche 'girls changed the player's mind' in order to make us readers love the 'badass turned good'. But it doesn't even make sense because if you truly love that person then you wouldn't change them in the first place. As for Mosely, she had Nate's attitude and behavior changed because he wanted to and because he loved Rosie unconditionally.
Though, throughout this book I wouldn't say the 'fire' at Rosie's apartment was the plot twist because I actually saw that coming so that kind of marked down the book. But I still gave it 5 stars because Nate and Rosie deserved it.
Also, this was the first time I read a book where a single mother actually had a child with her. DJ. Normally I wouldn't read this kind of books because they just turned me off big times. Maybe because those type of books are too adultery? Though I was so glad that this one didn't turned me off because it was my first one and let's say the way Moseley described DJ had changed my mind along the way.
My plan was to never have a kid no matter what. Yes and I have stick to that plan for more than 11 years now. But then I read this book and Moseley changed my mind. Maybe the thought of having a kid isn't as bad as what I thought after all. They are actually quite adorable, especially DJ! <3

Loved Nate and Rosie's character. I really enjoyed Nate's pick-up lines and had a few laughs. These characters were not perfect nor was their love story.
Rosie has a son from a previous relationship which she got hurt from and is very guarded.
Nate's a player and takes a bad move on his part but was glad he came clean and fessed up.
The chemistry between them slowly builds as they get to know each other and barriers come down. Rosie's son DJ is a sweet little kid who constantly gets let down by his dad Josh.
I would of liked more insight towards the end if Josh didn't want to see DJ anymore, I find it hard that he was in his kids life for 4 years (even though he was a constant disappointment) but did he still see him on weekend visits or birthdays or was he out of his life completely.
The fire, was a major turn in events but I thought it didn't have too much depth to it, could be just me but I had questions like what caused it, was anything saved, how did Rosie and DJ go after the shock of the scary situation. How long did it take for Nate to heal etc

2.5 Stars. This book has a nice story and potentially interesting characters - but so much is left in the word "potential." The very amateur writing from this author took me out of the story too many times. It's very obvious that the male POV was written by a female (not that that's ever a bad thing, it's just not done well here) - honestly, Nate's narrative (IMHO) could be the voice of a teenage girl--particularly when it comes to his internal dialogue. The text is also littered with way too many exclamation points, honestly. I really enjoyed Rosie's character, and felt that she was written much better than Nate. This manuscript could have been cut at LEAST by 25% and been just as good - SO much was way too drawn out. Also I have to say this:

It is very unrealistic, in the end, that Nate can just adopt Rosie's son when the boy's dad is still in his life. If the author explained that Josh signed away his rights to DJ or their relationship panned out in a different way, that'd be one thing. But we're totally left up in the air about that.

Simply epic yet again from Kirsty, can this lady do no wrong!!!! Nope lol.
I loved Nate in NLTL and wanted more so I was rather excited when I found out Mate was having his own book.
I loved Nate & Rosie's story, it gripped from beginning to end, he was do sweet but guarded at the same time. He didn't know if he could or should fall for Rosie's but I'm so glad that he did. I kid you not I freaking laughed at every slutty comment, the banter between them was simply amazing. The further into the book I got I couldn't help but love Nate more, especially when he bonded with DJ, even though again it scared him he pushed forward.
This book was very hard to put down and I'm glad I didn't, Kirsty you rock sweets. Amazing job. You will know what I mean by....

Yawnnnn. Seriously! When I got this book I was excited to read it as page after page I was bored. I gave up on this book around the time Rosie got all hypocritical on Nate about him sleeping with another girl. She acted like she was cheated on I mean really.. You hid the fact that you had a son from him and also told him you had a man. As far as I'm concerned its all on her. You can't just make a guy feel like he's been blind sided and expect him to wait like a good boy for you to come give him attention. This story just got so damn stupid at that point and I couldn't stand it anymore. I skipped straight to the ending then deleted it from my iBooks. I don't mind a long long story but at least make it worth my time! Boring! Reading the chapters I did of this story only took a couple hours of my life that I can't get back!
