The battle between Silvi and Kei at the G.G.C. esports event is plunging into its third round! Will the challenger's well-honed skills be enough to crush the undisputed champion? Meanwhile, Sunraku's going back into the Shangri-La Frontier game and taking on Ctarnidd of the Abyss, one of the Seven Colossi! His first step in that quest-defeating the enemies guarding the four towers in the abyssal city of Ruluiath!
le duel final du GGC (Silvi vs Kei) est correct mais manque un peu d’intensité. Le vrai point fort, c’est le retour de Sunraku dans le monde principal, qui relance enfin l’aventure et prépare un arc beaucoup plus ambitieux.
[THIS REVIEW COVERS THE WHOLE 2023 RUN OF SHANGRI-LA FRONTIERS, SO THE VOLUMES FROM 12 TO 17].
We have arrived at a phase of the narrative of Shangri-La Frontier in which the classical routine of the title has been permanently changed with one of the most epic tournament arcs you can think about. The quality of the drawings grows up in a magnificent way, representing the incredible fights at the Global Game Convention, in which Sunraku, Pencilgon, Kei and another fighter who hopes to get better and better named Megumi Natsume, the Nitro Squad, must defeat the American 1# fighting games esports team in which the American champion is a rival of Kei himself. Since a new fighting game will use the engine of SLF, the Nitro Squad organises an exhibition match in which they hope to gain the victory from their knowledge of the mechanics and physics system. This section of the manga makes you absolutely breathe the air of a great Videogame Event, expanding this feeling to the great Pop Culture Festivals all around the globe. That sense of unity mixed with the sensations of being at the center of a great moment dedicated to our passions, and while shifting the worldbuilding to this realistic tribute, the story is also capable of giving life to splendid fights and a model of narration which seems directly taken from a spokon more than a fantasy battle shounen. The new game which is presented inside this arc is diversificated from the previous ones because it uses the principle of a manga adaptation product, so you will find special moves and narrative-driven moments, but hybridating it with a freedom as for a sandbox based on the role chosen at the beginning of the match, from the Villain one and the necessity of destroying a city to the Hero one in which the player needs to save as more victims as he could, in order, in both cases, of arriving at the peak of a gauntlet bar to unleash attacks or unveil the special winning condition of the chaos cube. We will follow in this way rivalities, unexpected moments, challenges for the characters and ways of growing up together outside the screen. If you have ever been completely immersed into a nerd event of some sort, this narrative arc will make you enjoy every lasting moment!
Finally they finish the Game Tournament and return back to SLF and while it was not a bad arc I just wish the Tournament did not interrupt an arc with one of the seven colossi. And Araba does get some pretty cool development as he finally gets a sword. I do hope we get more of him after this arc and I can't wait see what the boss fight with Ctarnidd will be like especially since they have been going hard on the Cthulhu inspiration and references.
I’ve determined that I can’t follow elaborate fight scenes in manga…. Regardless, my enjoyment of these action packed volumes has not dwindled! I need to know what happens next now that we’re back with S.L.F.
The tournament arc behind them, the big 3 main characters, plus one guest, brief each other on the state of their Shangri-La Frontier lives. The techno-pumpkin mask was interesting, but its good ti see Sunraku is back with his signature bird mask.
La fin du GGC était incroyable. J'ai eu un peu plus de mal à retourner dans l'univers de Shanfro après tant d’absence mais le prochain tome promet des combats digne de ce nom !! A bientôt Sunraku !
