Dreaming of Alethea gave Jeremy Kater the strength to survive a difficult childhood. Now that he has influential friends who owe him some big favors, he’s determined to become the kind of man Alethea would be interested in: rich and dangerous. Jeisa Borreto was hired to help Jeremy morph into that man. It’s a job she would enjoy, if it weren’t tearing her heart to pieces.
Ruth Cardello hit the NYTs and USA Today for the first time back in 2012. Millions of sales are evidence that her books are akin to potato chips, addictive from the first one. She has created a multi-series billionaire world with a combination of escapism and realism that has gained her a faithful following of readers.
What Kindle Reviewers write about her:
"Wow hot at every page. Heart stoping, fear raging, mind blowing wonderful."
"I'm a true fan of Ms. Cardello. I ran on to her first book a few years back and have been hooked ever since. I could go on and on about the story like of this book, but I'm not. All of her books are total page turners, unique, heart wrenching, and I love them all. There isn't two alike in the bunch and I feel like i know the characters personally. I personally read 97 authors books. And I buy every book they put out. This author is in my top 10. Great job and keep them coming."
"Love this series. Got me to start reading again. I look forward to the next book. Thank you for giving me the love of reading back."
Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to New England. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene.
She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier. When she's not writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm or connecting with her readers online.

Page one had me hooked. Jeremy knows what he wants and will stop at nothing, and I mean nothing, to get what he wants. The strength shown in his character in the first chapter just amazed me. If you get knocked down, you get back up! It's as simple as that to Jeremy.
Jeisa is just adorable. It was obvious from the first few pages of her feelings for Jeremy. She's a little firecracker when it comes to making sure Jeremy is ok, even if she's helping him become the man he wants to be for another woman. She tends to hide how she feels and sometimes I wanted to shake the hell out of my ipad and scream for her to just tell him she's right there in front of him and exactly what he needs.
So Jeremy has made all these changes from when we first met him in the previous 4 books and has changed his appearance, bulk, style, social skills... pretty much everything about himself with the help of Jeisa. He doesn't realise just how much she does for him. He needs her for everything and can talk to her about anything. He doesn't hide the real him from her and this is how she fell in love with him. She loves the real Jeremy. He's just perfect to her even before the changes. Jeremy and Jeisa "You should say it proudly since I'm your creation."With a shake of her head, Jeisa said, "All I did was add a little frosting to an already delicious cake." Jeremy is making all these changes to be the man he thinks Alethea wants. Alethea is Lil's best friend. We've also met her in the previous 4 books. Now Alethea has always made me laugh but in Rise of the Billionaire I really disliked her. I liked her again by the end but through the book I was like, I want to bitch slap this girl haha.
As you all know, with Ruth Cardello's books you can expect to laugh your ass off! I mean we don't just have Jeremy, who is hilarious by the way. We have all the previous characters. Dom, Jake and Jeremy together had me in stitches. I literally had belly ache from laughing so hard. Look out for the superheros conversation in the book. I can just see it all in my head like it's a movie I've seen a million times. I'm actually laughing now just thinking about it! A lot of part had me needing to pee my pants but this one made me cry with laughter! Jeremy and Romario "Como vai, gatinha?" Jeremy asked cheerfully. With an impatient growl, Romario said, "I'm not a kitten and I'm about to walk into a meeting. What do you need?"
We all love the ladies. the ladies chats in the kitchen just make me think of girl times at home doing sunday roasts whilst the men pop to the pub. They make me need to go to see my mum just for a good old' chin wag!
Of course we have Mrs Duhamel in there with her wise words. Them men couldn't cope without her but we see just how much she cares for her boys in Rise of the Billionaire. She has taken Jeremy and Jeisa under her wing to push them in the right direction. I have so many favourite lines from Mrs Duhamel that will stick with me for the rest of my days so I'm going to post a few for you... "You never replace those you've loved and lost, but if you're lucky and you keep your heart open, sometimes you get a second chance at a family." This character is very wise and adds some amazing lines to many characters. This line was a conversation between Mrs Duhamel and Jeisa. We already know Mrs Duhamel lost her husband and now Dom and Jake are her 'adoptive' family. "One should never be exclusive of the other. If you have to choose between your dreams or your man... always choose your dreams. The right man will love your strength and your passion. He'll join your cause or cheer you from the sidelines. The man who leaves would have probably left you anyway-he just would have picked another reason." "Don't make excuses for not living the life you want. If you want to make a difference by getting involved in a movement, don't wait for a perfect time or the perfect situation, just do it. Love like you're on borrowed time." This one was again between Jeisa and Mrs Duhamel about Jeisa following her dreams and not letting even her father stop doing what she wants in life. "Love is terrifying sometimes. To experience it fully, you have to give yourself to it and trust it won't trample your offering." See, Mrs Duhamel is just amazing. She's like the grandma everyone loves and she has the best advice ever!
Now Jeremy had a tough life growing up. Don't get me wrong, he had loving parents and he adores them but he had a lot put on him at such a young age that made him who he is in books 1-4. He's just not used to socializing with anyone and Jeisa thinks maybe it was neglectful of his parents to let him become this recluse but Jeremy doesn't see it that way! Jeremy "When you love someone, you do what you have to do, not what's easy." I love Jeisa and Jeremy. I've never been able to pick a favourite before but I think Ruth has just helped me pick one! The sex... O.M.G!! Hawt!!! I think I fanned myself a few times with the sex scenes Jeremy is one Hot stud in the bedroom! on the jet! on the couch! and so on lol. Ladies I'm staking a claim now! Jeremy if officially chained to my bed and is staying there. I will only share him with Jeisa as she is just perfect for him.
The laughs, love, sadness, low self-esteem, humour, problems, arguments all added to one amazing book! Wow I can't get it out my head and can't wait for Breaching The Billionaire
I laughed so much reading this book and highlighted so many parts that I just loved. The wisdom in some of the advice given is amazing! Definitely the best so far in The Legacy Collection!!
Well done Ruth. You've done it again. You made me Laugh, Cry (UGLY CRY AT THAT), jump up and down in excitement and put a smile on the hubbys face! ;) LOL
I give this book a MAHOOSIVE 5 ***** it would have been 10 if we did 10 stars lol.
This would be such an easy review to write, if all I had to do was say 'I loved it'! However, wonderful author Ruth Cardello deserves more than that for her incredibly funny, schmexy Rise of the Billionaire. Much more.
If you have read the synopsis, you know that social misfit, computer geek Jeremy Kater was in need of an extreme makeover. He thought he could better himself to become the sort of man who would attract his long desired friend Alethea. This gentle man was one of those guys you just want to hug! In his adorable nerdy way, he had already gained my love from previous books in this series. By the end of the book however, it was not simply a hug that I had on my mind with regards to Jeremy!!! Oh no - this man - he was now a little cocky, but still sweet, buffed and incredibly sexy! I loved his sense of humor. I loved that he was not content to be a 'good lover', but rather used the power of the internet to master his new found sexual skills! (and yes, there was certainly a good amount of 'practice' involved to better his skills - cough!)
Charming and sassy, Jeisa Boretto was the woman tasked to bring about Jeremy's transformation. But, she had a few secrets that she kept well hidden behind her sophisticated facade. She was fiery, she was fun, but mostly, she was foolishly in love with Jeremy. She was in need of a mini makeover herself - not on the outside - but on the inside. She needed to decide what she wanted in life, and what she would do to get it.
Ruth Cardello took passion to a new level, and I am so glad to have gone along for that ride! The story was funny, it was emotional and as we were provided opportunities to connect with characters from previous books, it was incredibly enjoyable as well. The antics of Dominic Corisi, the man about whom this whole series began, had me frequently in tears of laughter, and as usual Mrs Duhamel did her best to keep the whole 'family' in line.
Rise of the Billionaire will keep you enthralled, entertained and beguiled. This is certainly one of the best series I have read, and the books just keep getting better. Every time I think of the Batman and Robin analogy, I just lose it in a fit of giggles. Again and again! Well done Ruth! Well done!
what is not to love about Jeremy , He has a true heart but made a bad mistake on the way to discover himself and the truth that was in front of him the whole time .. Ruth did a excellent job of this book .. Jack and Lil was my favorite until I read this one .. Now this is my favorite and very excited for the next one to come
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋💋 So good . I love this guy , he’s funny , socially awkward, a genius, he’s also , confused, handsome, and in love . Wether he admits it or not he needs help .
She loves him always has , he doesn’t even see her , maybe one day . Until then she’ll watch from the sidelines as he tries to make himself into the man he believes can interest another woman , not her . Painful .
Until ! The inevitable happens, finally he sees the woman who’s always been there for him .
Excellent book , thrilling story and wonderful characters .
Ever wonder what happened to that geek from high school? The guy who could talk quantum mechanics, but not ask a girl for a date. Well, Jeremy Kater is one of those. Smart, rich, a legend online, the top hacker in the world, but he is socially inept. Almost every goal he has set, he has achieved through grit, determination, and perseverance. But there is one dream he has had for years and not achieved- to win Althea's love. And for that he needs a makeover.
Enter into the picture, Jeisa, his new personal makeover consultant. Growing up in Brazil, she was educated in the best schools, tutored in all the social graces, groomed to be a rich man's wife-a pampered, indulged, useless rich man's wife, but not his partner. She feels smothered and unappreciated. To gain independence from this nightmare, she comes to America, but the promised position was just a sham. Alone in a strange country, money dwindling fast, she lies her way into a job at Corisi Enterprises, but her job description changes. She now has the task of giving Jeremy a makeover.
She guides him through it all: new clothes, new haircut, toned body, social conversations, and refining his manners. Only along the way, she fell in love with the real Jeremy, not the manufactured one. Jeremy considers Jeisa his best friend, but never dreams she loves him.
For Jeremy, failure is not an option. He listens, practices and plans. He works for the new image, hard. Researching, planning and executing every goal Jeisa sets and more.
Finally he feels ready to start his campaign for Althea's love and a triangle is born- a woman who loves him and one who uses him.
This book was well-written with comedy, intense love scenes, and danger. Jeremy finds out who his friends are and who isn't. Jeisa finds an inner strength she wasn't aware she had. Althea finds a truth about herself of which she finally feels ashamed.
I would highly recommend this book, along with the rest of the Legacy Series. Old friends are revisited and written seamlessly into Jeremy and Jeisa's story.

WELL DONE RUTH CARDELLO ON ANOTHER EXCELLENT BOOK, THANK YOU, I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE OF YOUR BOOKS
Rise Of The Billionaire is definitely an unforgettable addition to Ruth Cardello's The Legacy Collection. It was quite an emotional roller coaster during Jeremy's transformation. I think it was really insightful of the author to be able to put this in words that reach out to the readers. I love how Jeremy and Jeisa found their way to each other. I love the humorous banter between Jeremy, Jake and Dominic. I love that this book is so full of valuable lessons that I have shared and highlighted a lot of these. A definite must read!
My Favorite book in the Legacy Collection so far......
What can I say? Ruthie.....you did it again! Not only have we fallen in love with Jeremy & Jeisa but you have continued to bring back everyone from Dominic & Abby, Lil & Jake, Marie, Maddy & Robert and everyone else. I even love the doorman at Jeisa's apartment. I feel like I am part of the story...from wanting to slap Alethea to laughing out loud when Jeremy referred to Dom and Jake as Batman and Robin. I can not wait for book 6....more weddings, babies and family. That is what these books are about......they are all a family.
What happens when the awkward nerd becomes a wealthy stud? Will he win the heart of the woman he's desired for most of his life or will he see her for who she really is? This book takes you on a heart-wrenching journey as the lovable hero struggles to find a balance between what he's always wanted and what he can't live without. Come along for the ride and see if Jeremy finally finds what he truly needs? Will this super geek become Superman?
Rise of the Billionaire is Book 5 in the Legacy Collection by Ruth Cardello, featuring a friends to lovers, workplace romance of sorts for Jeremy and Jeisa. Jeremy Kater is so determined to shed his pasty, weak, nerdy image that he concocts at plan with his friends to hire Jeisa, an image consultant, to help him become the kind of man Alethea would find attractive. What he doesn’t realize is that the woman right in front of him doesn’t need him to change at all, because she loved him the way he was. Sparks fly between them, but who will he choose, when Alethea needs help once again?
This book is my favorite so far! Jeremy’s confidence has grown so much, and the spicy chemistry between him and Jeisa is super hot!🔥 This story brings out plenty of emotions, laugh out loud moments, drama and suspense from more tech intrigue, with much more to come it seems. I love the way all the characters are included in each book, and the way they work together in a crisis. I’m still not a fan of Alethea, but I will read her story because I’m dying to answer questions and see if she can be redeemed.😂 I have faith in the author!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It was a nice read! It was longer than I expected which is always great to find out.
Awkward Jeremy wants to change everything about himself to get the girl he never could when he was geeky. Jeisa has been hired to be his image consultant by the wonderful Marie, even though she has no experience. Marie is the motherly character in the story and impossible not to love! Jeisa does succeed in helping him change his image and it works, the other girl is now interested. Unfortunately, that's about the time that Jeisa realizes that she is interested too, and not with the new guy he's become but the old one too.
She tries to quit after realizing her feelings and so much happens after that, that I can't possible tell it without spoiling something. If you have a chance pick this one up, and this is Book #5 in the series, so pick up the rest too! It's a great series that can be read independently without missing too much.
I loved this books laugh out loud times.. the angst lump in the throat times..I thought I loved Dominic and Jake from the other books in the series.. but no !!!I have to admit I am so in love with Jeremy our computer Geek.. boy oh boy has he grown and matured.. and Jeisa his Image consultant loves him as he is...we meet all the characters from the other books.. the banter between Dominic.. Jake and Jeremy is so funny.. Ruth Cardello has outdone herself with this book... Hugs n thanks Ruthie for an awesome book... If you want to know if Jeremy and Jeisa get together you have to read this book...waiting impatiently for book 6!!!!!!
There is adventure, humor, intrigue, romance, and suspense!!!
This story revolves around the character of Jeremy Kater, a computer whiz - his development and growth! Characters from previous books are beautifully incorporated into the storyline - no one is forgotten. I was weary of the direction of Jeremy's character from the last book. But then OMG the transformation from Geek to Stud with a beautiful heart - LOVE JEREMY, my fave!!!
Ruth, keep writing and I'll keep reading!! Thanks for sharing your talent!
Absolutely wonderful book. I love Jeremey. Once again Ruth has created a cast of characters that's so "real", I felt like they were friends. I laughed out loud several times while reading. Amazingly talented author...
I love the characters Jeremy and Jeisa, as well as all of the recurring Billionaire characters. I didn't really enjoy the story line as much as I had the others. It was still a great read and I enjoy Ruth Cardello's writing.
All I can say is.....when is the next one coming out??? I hope it's about Alethea and the head security guy we first met in book one and he glares at Alethea during Abby's engagement party in book 2.....
So this is book 5 in this series and if you have followed the building story with each book you will now have what has shaped up to be a beautifully huge and complicated family centred around the Corisi and Andrade legacy.
Although neither of these characters are directly linked to the two families, their association through business forges close relationships (much to Dominic’s perceived annoyance). Jeremy Kater has saved Dominic and his family and friends a number of times over the last year and practically saved the Corisi Empire from complete disaster.
Jeremy is a loveable computer genius who has always struggled socially due to being homeschooled in order to look after his terminally ill father. After his death, Jeremy attempted to go to High School but found himself too different to fit in. Instead, he immersed himself in the cyber world and became a faceless hero in the gaming and coding community.
His massively impressive skills soon earned him a reputation and he found that being a much sort after hacker was extremely lucrative. But he wanted to be more than just the faceless geek behind the keyboard. He wanted to be a businessman who gained the respect of others through his reputation like his hero, Dominic Corisi.
The other thing he wanted was the love of the woman he’d dreamed would one day see past the computer genius and notice him as the man behind the code - his only real friend in the real world, Alethea.
In a bid to get to notice him he enlists the help of an image consultant. He’s got so much potential but she’s also got a job on her hands to tame the brave but naive Jeremy!
Jeisa Boretti moved to Boston on a false promise. Desperate to shed her fathers dominating overprotective nature, she leaves the luxury lifestyle she has enjoyed in her native Brazil to make it on her own and in her own way.
When she’s offered the job of creating a more professional and corporate image for the floppy haired, uncomfortable computer whizz kid she never thought she’d end falling in love with her protégé. But it breaks her heart that the reason he’s doing it is to win the heart of a woman who doesn’t deserve him. The more Jeremy strives to impress the object of his teenage dreams, the more Jeisa mourns the loss of the light hearted, inappropriately jovial and socially inept man who had won her heart before he’d embarked on his transformation.
It’s only when Jeremy’s new persona is fully achieved that he finds himself asking why he really wanted to change. Whilst Alethea continued to use him for his contacts and his intelligence, the woman who had helped him become the man he’d always wanted to be had actually become the one he wants to impress the most. When it dawns on him that he is more attracted to the woman who had been by his side through every challenge he had set himself than to the woman he always thought he wanted, it seems as though he might be too late. He can’t let her leave without her knowing how he feels about her.
But how can he convince her that he’s put away his childish obsession with a woman who it’s abundantly clear isn’t right for him at all. Jeisa loved him before he became the man he is, whereas Alethea is only interested now that Jeremy is hot property and turning heads. Will she believe the love he has for her? Or will she always consider herself to be his second choice?
It’s a Cinderella story that reminds us all that we should never lose the person we are inside to try to become the person we think everyone wants us to be. Jeremy soon learns the hard way that making more money than you could ever need might open many doors, but are they really doors that should be opened or best left locked. One mistake nearly costs him everything… and one misunderstanding could have lost the one thing he can’t stand the thought of being without… not money, not power, not reputation but love - not only Jeisa’s love, but that of everyone who he has come to regard as friends.
Great story… with a lots of laughs, lots of heart and lots of face-palm moments that almost had me shouting at both the lead characters to just stop second guessing and overthinking and just communicate.
I also love the Dominic/Jake/Jeremy dynamic in this book. You really start to see how much Dominic is growing into the man he wants to be… and how Jake counters Dominic’s knee-jerk reactions with carefully thought out solutions. Add Jeremy’s sense of humour and dry wit, and you’ve got comedy gold!!
Well done, Ruth. Yet another fabulous instalment that just keeps this amazing saga going. Can’t wait to see where this goes with Alethea’s story.
I did not like Jeisa at all. I almost stopped reading this book around the time she and Jeremy were talking about going to the Andrades for the holidays. The only reason I pushed through was because I liked Jeremy's character so much.
Jeremy was socially awkward, sweet, confused, kind, intelligent, witty and out right funny. I hoped he got the girl because I liked him. I liked that Jeremy had little to no fear of life or the people around him. I enjoyed his back and forth with Dominic and Jake. I like the relationship he had with Marie.
My dislike for Jeisa and Althea was almost on par, but with Althea, I expected to not like her. I noticed she seemed to be a tad redeemable. I figure the writer has her work cut out for her to make Althea likable. I also laughed during the scenes where the whole gang was together. Some of the tech speak was familiar and some was way over my head, but it did not distract from the story or my enjoyment of it.
Even part of the airplane scene with Jeremy and Jeisa was entertaining. He was so geeky and methodical in his pursuit of her. I liked all of the other characters, Dom & Abby, Jake & Lil, Marie, Richard & Maddy, the Andrades and even the doorman. This was a 4.5 read for me.
I stopped listening to the narration and switched over to the book. It really didn't add anything to the story. The accent given to Jeisa was different. I couldn't tell you if it was accurate or not. Other than that, the narration was kind of meh.

Jeremy Katar, good extraordinaire and world class hacker has one goal in life, Alethea. He needs to become a polished man of the world in order to attract her attention. Enter Jeisa Borreto, lifestyle consultant. Her job is to smooth the rough edges and make him presentable. There's only problem, she's fallen for a man whose heart belongs to another. That is until she kisses him. Then it's Alethea who? Jeisa finally realizes that she's never going to make headway in changing Jeremy's heart. So she decides to leave him and quit her job. Jeremy can't stomach the thought of her leaving so he sets out to win her affections. At the same time he becomes embroiled in a dangerous situation that he brought Allethea in on for security purposes and now it's turned dangerous. He's the only one that can fix it and he must walk away from Jeisa. She finally gets her answer and she too walks away. Now, it's up to Jeremy to win her back and convince her that he loves her and only her.
Enjoyable to see things progressing with everyone. Silly Jeremy, trying to change himself to get the wrong woman, when the right one was right there with him. Nice to see Jeremy maturing in this book and to see him admit his mistake, rather than lie and fudge which some people would have done. Jeisa was likeable but I just wanted her to own her feelings and stand up for herself. We get a lot of internal blaming going on when we get a relationship hiccup and to be truthful I wanted to bang their heads together. Liked Jeisa’s dad, he is a force to be reckoned with. Be nice if he and Marie become a couple. But Alethea manages to override both Jeremy and Jeisa and takes the cake for being rude. She is not someone that has behaved well in the past and she manages to top everything from before in this book. We do get a blinders off situation to soften us for her story which is next. Read in the box set through Kindle Unlimited.
Another enjoyable read in this series Jeremy is a computer hacker with really nothing in the way of social skills becoming part of the Corisi team means he needs help to develop. He believes he is in love Alethea a long time friend and wishes to start looking good and being able to move in the same circles ads her. Jeisa is hired to assist him but falls for him, he improves in leaps and bounds but takes risky assignments in business. He realises he loves Jeisa but messes up badly and also has to win over her Brazilian politician father. Eventually their love wins through and they end up together they have many tribulations but love wins in the end. This group of people keeps expanding and growing with love being the key to it all. A very enjoyable series.
