About the author

Olga Toprover was born in Russia, lived in Canada for a few years, but currently resides in Los Angeles. Olga holds Master Degree in Computer Science from Moscow State University. She is also a published media author. Her scientific education and journalistic experience as well as living in different cities and countries formed her into the writer she is today. Olga believes that true literature is about people. Her stories, above all, are about us.

This sci-fi novella was a great read, a glimpse into our technological future, and a tiny peek into the mind of Olga Toprover. This is the second book I have read by Olga, and she does not disappoint. I highly recommend the tale of robotizing humans and humanizing robots in the pursuit of a better life for all.

The President is No More' is a fast-paced exploration of man's fear of progress. The writing style does a great job of inviting the reader directly into the protagonist's life. The story felt very personal the entire book, which is something I always enjoy. If you're looking for a quick read with scifi tendencies, I'd suggest getting a copy of 'The President is No More.

Президента больше нет - это научно-фантастический рассказ, который предназначен для тех, кто изучает русский язык. Поэтому пункты на английском языке следуют за теми на русском.
События, конечно, происходят в будущем. История начинается с катастрофой. Общность людей, отвергающих технологии и прогресс, взорвана. Следственный репортер пытается выяснить, что случилось. В ходе исследования, она встречает много влиятельных людей, в том числе президента США, основателя могущественней робототехнической компании и лидера общностей “гуманишей”. Кто из них несёт ответственность за этой катастрофой?
В рассказе рассматривается что прогресс в генетики и робототехники значит для человечества, но очень глубокие мысли не будут найдены в нем. Всё равно, история довольно интересная и можно её без проблем рекомендовать учащимся русского языка

Действие происходит в будущем, в США. В повести есть президенты США и России. Но главная героиня 0 обыкновенная женщина. На книгу меня влдохновили идеи трансгуманизма, а также размышления о том, что прогресс может принести как добро, так и зло. Впрочем, как и человек. Приятного чтения!

I downloaded The President is No More as a free book from Amazon. This book is intended as a Russian-English teaching tool, as well as a short story. I was only reading to enjoy the English-version storyline. The novella was a great short story, a little odd with word usage, but understandably so because it was meant to be read in Russian also. The character of Mia was well developed in such a short book, and I was intrigued as the investigation to the bombing was uncovered. While there are holes in the plot, and some conclusions were drawn, I enjoyed the read.

Great story

Written in both Russian and English it was at first distracting but as I read the English more I was able to follow it better. I enjoyed the story. This is the second of Toprover's work that I've read and I enjoy her work and writing style. The story grabbed my attention and kept it.
