Cari Quinn

USA Today bestselling author Cari Quinn grew up wanting to be a singer more than anything else. When she realized she probably wouldn’t be hired as the opening act for the Foo Fighters, she stopped singing and started writing. Now she happily writes about rock stars, MMA fighters, suited heroes, bodyguards and everything in between. And she blasts her music as loud as the neighbors can stand, because hey, she’ll always be a rock star in her own head.

She's also half of the duo Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott, as well as one half of the USA Today bestselling author Taryn Quinn, who writes steamy small town romantic comedies (among other things.)

What in the everloving FUCK is this??!! The blurb confuses me. SOOO Lucas's one TRUE MATE is this Emily, but he doesn't have the balls to make a move, so he lets his BFF convince him to sleep with OW??!!

So he basically CHEATS on his mate?? Am I reading that right?? WOW...that sounds FABULOUS. Poor Emily stuck with a shitty ass cheating mate for the rest of her life. *lol*

Another exciting read by Taryn Quinn. I can't believe the variety of characters they create. I enjoy paranormal stories and they didn't disappoint - Kellan, Luke, Sydney and Emily have an interesting connection and I am looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. It took some time for Kellan and Sydney to come to grips with their feelings. Sydney understandably had a bit more to digest than Kellan, who had his sights set on Sydney for a while.

Next please! Ready for thenext one. I need to know Emily's story.

Awesome twists and turns to what should've been an itch to be scratched. This will teach Sydney never pick up hitchhikers. As for Kellen one night will teach him to mind his business in the matters of the heart. Please tell me there's more cause I need more asap! 😁

This was a really good book about Vampires. It’s intense and makes you think. Loved Kellan and Syd! Looking forward to reading more about Lucas and Emily. Definitely a good book to read.

This is Cari Quinn's first pnr release and I must say I liked it quite a bunch! Though I suspect hardened and seasoned pnr-lovers might find it too light on worldbuilding and too heavy on the sex, it worked for me.

As usual with my pnr reads, the worldbuilding holds my attention less than the romance and/or erotic scenes but I must say the world created did manage to fascinate me. After all, how can you go wrong when you mention Alias, my fave TV series ever! and you make fun of sparkly vampire movies? Cari Quinn had me with this one from the first chapter!

Though Lucas seemed like an ass sometimes I really loved his dry, sardonic sense of humor. I also loved Sydney's sass and directness.

The interactions between the characters are very well done. The balance between conflict and humor was excellent. The connections between the main 4 characters are subtle and intricate at the same time, cleverly entangled by the rules of the world that Cari Quinn created. I would've liked it to be even a bit more character-driven but this didn't bother me much.

Though I still prefer Cari Quinn's contemporaries I enjoyed her first pnr venture and I look forward to Luke & Emily's story because that ending was brutal to a reader who doesn't react well to cliffhangers!

Fave quotes:
At the undercurrent in his lifelong pal’s voice, Kellan crouched to look into Syd’s eyes. Their dark depths churned, but she didn’t avoid his gaze. “Give Lucas and me a couple minutes. Please. After that, we’ll talk about anything you want.” He scooped a hand through her wispy dark bangs. “Are you hungry? There are Pop-Tarts in the cupboard.”
Lucas made another derisive noise in his throat. “Oh, he’s bringing out the romance now. Sharing his Pop-Tarts with his lady.” He opened a cabinet and jutted a thumb at the contents. “They’re like his frigging security blanket.”

Her beauty, the quiet tragedy of it, tore holes inside him. They might as well have been alone in the bedroom, because the others simply ceased to exist. He saw only her.

Cari Quinn is one of my favorite contemporary erotica romance authors, so when I saw that she had a paranormal romance out, I knew I had to try it. I'm glad I gave it a chance, but I have to admit, this is not one of my favorites by Cari Quinn. Love Bites is very different then her contemporary erotica romances. The passion there, and the strong and independent characters are still there, but something was missing with this one.

This is a novella, so everything happened really fast, and normally this doesn't bother me, but I think that between the world building and relationship building all of the wonderful emotions that I have come to expect from this author were missing from this one. Sydney and Kellan both had a lot of chemistry and as always the sex scenes were well done and hot, but I could not connect to them as a couple. I think it was because I really liked Lucas and Emily somehow wanted the four of them together instead of as separate couples as crazy as that seems.

While this one wasn't for me, I enjoyed the risks that were taken with it. I always like it when authors try something new, even it doesn't work for me.

This book is amazing, it has a lot of sexy, steamy scenes. I like that the vampires in this book can actually stand some sunlight. It captivates you from the moment you start reading it, especially with Kellan and Sydney. The chemistry is there and you can tell from the beginning of the book. I also love the twists in this story, they will keep you glued to the book and unable to put it down. This is a definite must read if you like steamy sexy scenes and vampire love stories.

Did Not Finish
June 28, 2017
I Did Not Finish (DNF) this one. In the first quarter of the story, the heroine was restrained against her will, while unconscious (possibly for her own safety), and then two male vampires pleasured her. While she did eventually give consent, her pleas for escape and later to talk were ignored as they continued to pleasure her. It made me squeamish, and reading the book was not enjoyable.

I love Cari Quinn's books, and this one easily joins the growing list. Hot, steamy, emotional...and to die for vampires. This is a true can't-put-it-down book. Looking forward to the next one!
