I hadn't read the poem for years - only remembered the second verse - typical probably - but I'm glad I picked it up. My country truly is timeless. Every single descriptive line is perfect. Mackellar has such a simplicity, and ability to carve down an image to perfection. The art work that goes along with it isn't too bad, but I feel it lacks the lustre that the poem has. The image accompanying 'Hot gold hush of noon,' is sublime. The page elicits that heavy hot silence that you only get far away from the city, in an open glass land. I was a bit disappointed by the image for 'The start ring-barked forests all tragic to the moon'. I'm probably being too picky...

Well known Australian Poet Dorothea Mackellar of the famous poem "My Country".

Includes a short Biography of Dorothea and her family, some of her poems and the rest is her diaries from 1910 - 1918.

Dorothea led a very interesting and busy life with so much travelling overseas and attending functions with her father who was well known and respected. I would say she had a very "full" life.
