A book on Divination as foretold in dreams, crystal balls, tarot cards, palmistry, head bumps, novels, and the verses of Nostradamus, still the soothsayer to beat (Jeane Dixon comes a close second). The pages are awash with predictions of past and future calamities, assassinations, wars, marine and aviation disasters, monarchial and governmental changes of guards, of an altogether different world order that awaits humanity. Young, easily swayed readers with a predilection for the fatalistic can take comfort in the import of the word coincidences. And balderdash.
Admittedly as irresistible today (2023) as it was when I first read it in 1985.
* In 1985, a dear aunt left us a set of books on the Supernatural. Published in the mid-seventies, the books are dated by today's standards, and sketchy even back then--an encyclopaedia/The Sun hybrid. Over the years, the titles got lost, and those which remained had broken spines and missing pages, a result of persistent re-readings. I've always wanted to recapture the fascination I had for these books, so when I saw a mint set available on eBay in 2018, I bought it.
