Story is very good and interesting. First time reading something with Sojourner in it, I like her. I like her writing and her story. She's different and that's great, not someone cookie cutter. The story itself does get a bit confusing at points, feels like this should have been longer, but I would definitely read this again.
The star though, is Jamal Campbell. Holy crow can this dude draw. He is a bona-fide star and I hope I run into him at a convention in the future so I can tell him that in person. The style, the finesse, the emotion he gets in his character work, Campbell himself gets 5 stars. DC needs to sign him to a very long exclusive contract. It's not even just the character work, the scenery itself was really special, got Bladerunner vibes in the best way possible.
"Meat Salad' is now my favourite term to describe a biological entity. This really blew the god damned doors off. The last time I felt this way reading a GL story was Rebirth / Sinestro Corps Wars: a truly meaningful, beautiful expansion of one of my favourite modern day mythologies.
Read this for a book club. I didn’t care for it. It did have some interesting tonesetting early on and there is something to be written of its status as a period piece of 2019 liberal anxiety about justice but I realised when thinking about it that I'm actually not bothered.
good read but kinda confusing in some parts. there’s too much backtracking and exposition but still a pretty good read. just nice to get new Green Lantern material
