We were…

The abandoned.

The abused.

The lost.

The survivors.

Now we’re a family, and we’re going to stay that way.

We won the war, we came out stronger on the other side. But some wounds take a long time to heal. Others may never fully vanish, but scar tissue can form and knit the injuries closed.

Building a life together means changes, and sacrifices. It means taking risks. It means flying again.

It’s everything…

We’ve fought for each other, we’ve bled, and we’ve killed. We’d do it all over again. No questions.

There are some battles we still have left to fight.

I plan to make sure we win those too.

DIRTY DANCER is a full length mature contemporary romance with touch her and... well you get the picture vibes. While a part of the 82nd Street Vandals, this is set well after the series and during a tour. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has multiple one love interests. This is book ten, technically, in the series and is not remotely meant to be read out of order. The release date will be moved up.

I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.

I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.

After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.

Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.

Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.

One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.

I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!

So sweet 🥹
This is one of my favourite ever series and so I was thrilled for this bonus novella and it did not disappoint 😍 you get an insight into each of the guys lives and what they’re doing now, a lot of them have been developing on their fears or doing what they can to help Braxtom Harbour and the less fortunate 🥰 there’s quite a focus on Freddie but that’s understandable with knowing his back story and what he’s had to overcome 🥲 this novella is very much about challenging yourself for Emersyn as well as her men! It’s a great addition to this storyline with little cameos from other stories in this world 😄

This was fine.
It wasn’t anything special. I know it was created only to show how they lived their lives after everything they went through, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t expecting more. Like an actual plot.

This book focused mostly on Emersyn’s relationship with Freddie, and I got why because it remained one of the underdeveloped relationships, and were still figuring things out. But the previous books did a great job balancing all her relationships, and I didn’t really feel it here.
I always understood why they all wanted to be in a relationship with her, and they all used to spend time together, but in this, some of them were never with her, and I was like: what if they meet someone else cause she is literally never there. Even when she was at home she spent so much time with Freddie.

For those who have read Milo and Lainey’s books, I was so excited about Theo. I shouldn’t have been. We didn’t see him at all at the end of that series, and he had, like, one scene with Emersyn.

I just feel like this focused on the wrong things. I wanted to see her spend more time with all her guys, I wanted her to build an actual sibling relationship with Theo, and I wanted a plot where maybe her past came back to haunt her one more time or something. Or at least her trauma.

I did like the several extended scenes from the other books. Some more than others, but you know. In general it was great.

5 ⭐ 3 🌶️

This was everything Freddie deserved and more. I always kinda wondered why his story felt so... unfinished at the end of Fierce Dancer, but it makes so much more sense that Heather needed to tell Lainey, Milo, Bodhi, Adam and Ezra's and subsequently Theo's story before sharing the end of the Vandals story.

I absolutely adored the growth we saw in Freddie. From his ability to open up and be touched by Em, all the way to the epilogue that almost had me in tears as his story came full circle. I'm not sure I've ever been more proud of a fictional character.

I'm really hoping this isn't the end of these characters and this world. In fact, I'd be head over heels for an Andrea, Levi and Theo series pleaseandthankyou.

Ooh I loved catching up with Em and the boys. Freddie grows soo much in this book and it's great to see their relationship changing and becoming more intimate. Freddie is still my favorite and I love how he is embracing change. Such a great read.

Dirty Dancer is the 10th and final book in the 82nd Street Vandals and while it saddens me greatly that the majority of the Vandals story is done and dusted, I have absolutely loved the journey along the way.

When we first met Emersyn, her life was far from happy, and over time we learned it was down-right traumatic and disturbing. But she is insanely strong, resilient, stubborn and has a whole lot of snark that is highly entertaining. She has come along way and seeing her relationships with Jasper, Kellan, Liam, Rome, Vaughn, Doc and Freddie are still as beautiful as they were in the beginning, is wonderful.

Freddie seemed to get a lot more attention this time but honestly he needed it. He has been a work in progress the entire series but with all that he endured when he was a kid, I'm so happy he is healing and that he found a purpose.

The story as a whole is so well written, it has kept me on my toes and kept me guessing. Usually wrong but that's half the fun!!!! It's a series I have no problem going back, rereading time and time again and the audio is amazing!!!! I'm really hoping with the introduction of Theo, that we haven't seen the last of The Vandals.

This made my heart soar!

I wish I had the words sometimes to make people understand all my feels. This book was everything I never knew I needed and more. Revisiting the Vandals, getting to see their HEA, seeing how Theo is doing made my day, week, month! I just got a promotion at work a couple of months ago and it has been extremely stressful. To the point that I have continual stress knots in my shoulders and this read brought me a little peace. I always loved the relationship between the guys and their individual relationships with Emersyn. Vaughn is my boo but Freddie and Rome were always extra special and this booked showcased that. I spent the majority of the book with tears in my eyes and my heart melting. Those last couple of chapters had me cheering and bawling at the same time. The bonus POV chapters were fun. Thank you Heather for building such a beautiful cast of characters and for giving Freddie, especially the happiness he and Emersyn so very much deserved.

Emersyn and her Vandals have come so far since the day they "kidnapped" her. They have confronted their demons, survived their enemies, and are now living life on their terms. They are family, strong and in love. Now it's time for the last barriers to fall.

Like everyone else who has read this series, the 82 Street Vandals hold a special place in my heart. Jasper, Kellan, Liam, Rome, Vaughn, Doc, and Freddie may be rough around the edges while Emersyn is polished but they fit together beautifully. I loved the series and was thrilled to get another chance to catch up with them. Their storyline basically concluded with the last book but their lives went on. There was still unfinished business. Freddie was a work in progress with a way to go and this novella focuses on him. His healing and growth dominate the story but we do catch up with the rest and get to know Theo a little. This novella was a gift. One I enjoyed. The second half of the book contains bonus scenes and deleted scenes from each of the previous books. So satisfying!

What a perfect and endlessly entertaining return to the 82 Street Vandals world that I adore so much. Emersyn and all of the most delicious Vandals men will always hold a special place in my black heart- and this world is certainly some of Heather Long's best work. It's emotionally rich, wonderfully sexy, action packed, and deftly and complexly told. The series finale was certainly amazingly satisfying and conclusive, so this revisit is like icing on cake as we get to peer a bit more into the post-HEA world, and now that some of the danger and peril has been dissolve, just how this large and steamy harem would exist. This reminded me of just why I fell in love with our fierce dancer Emersyn and of the beautiful, catalytic, and healing bonds she creates with the vandals that stole my whole heart. I just adore each and every one of them. A triumphant and delightful return-truly one for the fans.

Oh how coming back to Emersyn and her Vandals is exactly like coming home, merry early Christmas to me!

I feel like it’s something special to really love characters so much, that you can devour more and more of their story and never get bored.. for me that’s exactly what this book is.

Heather has once again given us the best gift, I loved seeing Emersyn again especially, I’m still so in awe of her growth from book one until now, so seeing her with her found family just forever gives me the warm fuzzy feelings.

The guys never have a dull moment honestly, they each individually are still shining through with their strong personalities, but oh how I loved the extra Freddie here!! He’s just the absolute sweetest ever (it’s okay Liam, you’re still my fave, don’t get too jealous now!).

Loved seeing more of Theo and I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that there’s more to come from his story for sure.

If you know me at all you know that the 82nd Street Vandals is my Roman Empire of series. Meaning I am beyond absolutely obsessed with it and I still talk about it ALL THE TIME. That being said, Heather graced us with absolute gem of a bonus book. It takes place after book 9 but it has many time hops forward so we get to see years into the future with the characters we have all grown to love and adore. There were no true "loose ends" after book 9, but Heather still manages to make sure that any lingering curiosities are answered. This book also brings the spice which I absolutely loved AND of course seeing one of my absolute favorite MMC’s EVER finish finding himself and defining what his happily ever after is absolutely made me swoon. This book is an absolute gift and I will be treasuring it and thinking about it for years to come!

82nd Street Vandals will forever be my go to re-read of all time. Not only re-read, but re-listen as well since the audio books are just as fantastic! I saw someone mention that this 10th book was like visiting family you hadn't seen in a long time and that sums up my feelings about this book perfectly. I have come to know and love these characters so much that I'm always so excited when I get to hear more from them.

It was particularly heart warming to see the growth of Em and Freddie's relationship. The patience and perseverance of them both to scale each others walls and really be able to trust one another was the perfect for real end to an amazing series. I also liked seeing how the new brother was fitting into the scene too. Looking forward to his series.

Heather never disappoints and this was no different. A 10th book to read and re-read. I can't wait!

There is nothing in this book to not love.
I absolutely adore it!
The Vandals and Emersyn are to die for!
I absolutely love the way the author eased us back into the vandals and it was a long time coming.
I always enjoy when we get to revisit worlds and characters and emersyn and the guys have a special place in my heart.
I loved how they have grown as people and as relationships.
I loved watching them together and interacting.
Its like seeing your favorite family member after a long time.
So familiar and at the same time so many things have changed that you wanna sit for hours and hear all the news!
I love how Freddie was grown....evolved and overcomed some of his issues.
This is a series that i can read over and over again and i hope that we will get to see glimses of in future books of the author in crossing overs.

LOVED! Okay, confession time: as much as I complained about author favoritism in the Untouchable series, I don't hate it at all in this series, and that's because the author's favorites are my favorites.
This book was all Rome and Freddie, and I couldn't be happier. Rome would probably make my top 5 RH MMCs list, and Freddie wouldn't be too far behind.

If I had one complaint, it would be that I wanted a lot more from Theo's storyline. He was sold to traffickers as an infant. I wanted some bonding moments with Em and Freddie over their shared trauma. I wanted more focus on his mental health and healing journey. Instead, the narrative seemed more focused on him being angry and surly - to draw comparisons to Milo, I guess. Anger is a completely valid response to what he went through, but I just felt like his trauma was swept under the rug. Did he ever even get therapy?

A perfect ending

This has long been my favorite series by Heather Long (although, truthfully, they are all my favorites). When the previous book was released, I had the most bittersweet feelings about it. Happy with how it ended, sad that it ended. Happy about the characters' overall growth. Sad that my favorite characters were gone forever.

Or so I thought. Heather surprised me in the best way with this one, and it was the absolute perfect ending in every way (though I will NEVER co.plain if you decide to write more, I'm just saying 🤣)

There are so many things I loved about this book. But one word I'd use to sum up my favorite favorite thing about this book:

Freddie

Heather Long delivered with this one, as she always does.

Dirty dancer by Heather Long a novella of 82nd Street Vandals.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶💀💀💀
The absolute nostalgia reading about the Vandals and how things have changed is pure decadence.
Freddie's character growth throughout the entire series comes to a beautiful conclusion in Dirty Dancer.
A bittersweet read, visiting old friends hits hard in the feels.
Best part all the little shorts are now in one book. Dirty Dancer is the perfect companion when reading Vandals for first time or umpteenth time.
Trope
Dealing with trauma. Triggers. Large harem. Found family.

I’m so so torn I wanted to love this one like I have the rest… I just couldn’t I was so so incredibly disappointed that only HALF of the book was the actual story and the other half was from the past deleted scenes and the other POV… I loved watching Emerson being home and coming into her own freedom and independence…. I also felt disappointed that them dealing with King was left out. I’ve loved this entire series and to get to this point and the last book be just ok stinks…. I really wish I could love it like I have the others. And while I did love parts …. I loved Em and I absolutely LOVED Freddie’s growth so it got 3 stars from me …

This is the HEA that I needed for Emersyn and her guys. Most of the plot points were nearly wrapped up and tied off at the end of the main series, this is just the cherry on top. I appreciate that some of the main characters’ trauma couldn’t be believably worked through in that time frame and this book gives us what was missing.

The bonus epilogue is the perfect length and is followed by a series of alternate POV scenes from the whole series, and I loved seeing those familiar parts from different perspectives! Overall, I truly adored this book as a whole and feel content that Em and all of her men are living their best lives together.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 82 Street Vandals series, particularly the book Dirty Dancer. It was heartwarming to see how everyone coped with the challenges they had faced.
I was particularly captivated by Freddy’s story. His journey to overcoming his addiction and the events he overcame from his younger years inspiring. His decision to pursue a career in social work was a testament to his resilience and determination.
Em and Milo’s brother, Theo, was gradually coming to terms with the love and support of his caring family, and he knew that he had a safe place to be.
While I enjoyed reading from the POVs of all the characters, Freddie’s story stood out as particularly captivating.

perfection

Reading this book, it felt like coming home. Emersyn and her men will always hold a special place in my heart (still firmly on #TeamRome though) and their story will always be one of my favourites. I loved the end of fierce dancer but I couldn’t be more grateful to the author for giving us this extra peep into their future. It was good seeing them settled, and seeing more of the relationships develop that I’d been wishing for previously. It was bittersweet in the best of ways and I can’t believe it’s over. I hope to see glimpses of them in future series in this world.
I loved having all the bonus scenes in one place, it’s made me want to go back to the very first book and start rereading. Whether it was the first part to this book or the bonus scenes, it’s made me fall for each of Emersyn’s guys once again. It brought up old feelings and reminded me of what a rollercoaster this series truly is. It’s one of the best series I’ve ever read and if you’re reading this then I hope you take the chance on this series, you won’t regret it. Amazing

I Loved being back with Emersyn and her Vandals. This book was like an extra long epilogue into how their life is going. I even enjoyed having all the little extra scenes from previous books at the end , it was a perfect way to end this series. I loved Theo so much and I'm keeping everything crossed we see more of him , Levi and Andrea in the future. It was amazing being back in this universe I just loved every second of it and I devoured it in one go.

I didn’t know how much I needed to read this next chapter, or “update” if you will! To feel everyone finding their own, in a big way, just put a smile on my face. The Vandals are moving on, creating a life that works for them, and adding new folks into their circle. It made my heart happy to see and experience all that they have become. Even Theo, who makes me smile. And knowing that Emersyn can take care of herself – priceless! Loved it!

Book 10 Dirty Dancer is a great way to catch up on my favorite vandals. If you haven't read books 1-9 stop and start with book 1 . Finally Freddy has a much bigger part in this one. Definitely worth the wait. But so many updates about almost all the guys and their life with Emerson. On top of all the updates there are alot of bonus material. You can't go wrong with that. I love getting to see more of my book families lives. I'm hoping there is more to come.

not what I expected

I was stoked to get some resolution with Freddie and Em. The relationship never felt complete after the series ended. I loved seeing all of his growth.

I didn’t like all the time jumps and the lack of story containing the other guys. Then the second half of the book was a bunch of alternate POVs.

It was just kind of a let down when I was looking for a continuation of the story or even the start of another series.

So happy to visit with this group and find out what's been going on. Love that Freddie is doing great (he's one of my favorites!) and we were able to have this! The guys and Emersyn are great, they all support each other still and of course her. And Theo is doing good, also great to find out! And you even get bonus scenes .... great follow up plus extras what more can you want at the end of a series :)

I absolutely loved this glimpse into the life of Emersyn and her Vandals. I love all these characters so much and it was fantastic to see them again. I really loved the focus on Freddie, his story felt not quite finished at the end of the series so this was amazing. It’s also super duper wonderful to have all the bonus content in one place.

Welcome back to the 82nd Street Vandals....Heather Long you are the best! In this book we get to revisit all the "family", with new additions to their stories. We get to see where they started, as well as how far they've come. I just love these stories and revisiting Emerson and the boys. I love a good HEA, and this more than delivers. The icing on the cake- the bonus scenes. Kudos Heather!
