October 23, 2024Gypsy's Run on Wednesday drew my attention as the writer was Indo Anglian and that too from my state.
The story revolves around Meera,written in an autobiographical style.Meera had a troubled childhood,a disillusioned and disappointing college life peppered witha failed love affair. Her marriage was still worse culminating in divorce.All these had made her life miserable.
A freak accident takes her to a gypsy village in a remote part of the country.There she meets all types of people including her former fiance.All were happy and enjoying life except herself.As she delves deep into their lives, learns they all had a past like her own.Half way through they all revisited and reinvented their lives.The title related to the halfway mark(Wednesday the middle of the week).
She soon realises that craving for what you have lost in life will make you miserable. Be contended and be happy with what you have got.From this realisation she starts to rebuild her life.
The writing is lucid and has the flow.If you are on the look out for Tharrorian English orKamalaDas poetical flow you are going to be disappointed. The language and the floware still to be appreciated.
The story solely revolves around Meera alone.A greater insight into the lives of other characters would have made the book more lively.
This is a book which conveys a great message to
the youth.Craving for what you lostwill make your life miserable be contended with what you have received.It is a good read for the youth involved in today's rat race.
On the whole a good book___can be gifted to those you love ,the youth of today.

A short escape to a magic village, a feel-good piece like a fluffy cotton candy. The book takes you on a magical journey and lets you escape your drab realities. The hodgepodge gypsy village is the perfect utopia to escape on a hot stuffy afternoon.
