Resisting Ruby Rose (The Ruby Rose Series #2) picks up five months after the ending of Killing Ruby Rose. Ruby's journey started with her SWAT father being killed in the line of duty, and a desire to seek justice. She started by going after the so called

This is a solid sequel in a series I can't quite figure out how to describe. It's one part murder mystery, one part espionage thriller, and one part assassins and vigilantes. I think I prefer the first book, but this had a few interesting surprises. Also, it introduced a new character that I really enjoyed, but to avoid spoilers, I won't say which one or why.

I read Killing Ruby Rose and I enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect, but it was a fun and thrilling mystery. Resisting Ruby Rose was NOT a fun and thrilling mystery. It was what one would get if they mashed together YA Romance and the movie series Spy Kids. (I hated those movies, so that didn't help my love for this book any more.)

The first book in this series was by no means extremely realistic, but it was realistic enough that I

I won a copy from Goodreads First Reads.

I'm going to tell you that this one is absolutely delightful. Now, it may had been a while since I read it (because I was going crazy this week), but I can tell you that it is good. For fans of Ally Carter, especially. I know that we are all feeling a bit low after that last book was published. And I'm going to say that this one can fill in that feeling...

Because Quinn is a hottie. He has loads of chemistry with the main character (Ruby Rose), and he is a

Such a gripping thriller that I couldn't put down. Here I thought Ruby was safe and all was well. But how wrong I was. In Resisting, she's met with new problems and the stakes are raised even higher. I loved the romantic tension in this book as well. Such a great series by such an incredibly talented author.

Cross Paris Hilton with La Femme Nikita — spoiled teenage brat with killer skills — and you’ve got Ruby Rose. Unfortunately, “Resisting Ruby Rose” brings out the worst qualities of both. It’s “okay,” but . . .

That’s not to say that others won’t find it entertaining. This is strictly YA. I do think the author pretty accurately presented teen angst (Reminded me a lot of the five I put up with ;-) ), but that doesn’t make for likable characters. Ruby is too much like Paris, while Quinn is too full

I did not enjoy it quite as much as the first book but it was still pretty good and a great Sequel. I enjoyed the kick butt characters and the plot and I grew to adore Quinn. Another guy drove me crazy in this one though. He needs to sort out his priorities. I just wanted to smack him. How can people change so much so fast. I really liked him in book one bit not in this one. He has serious problems now. I wonder if there are going to be anymore books. It still felt pretty openended. And I would ...more

It was an easy listen but best not think about it too hard. It's intended to be a high teen drama spy thriller / mystery romp. Leave it at that and it's enjoyable. If you let yourself think to far beyond the fantasy and the unnuanced character development, especially of the male character, it loses some of its shine.

I really enjoyed Book #1, and this book continues in a similar fashion, but with more angst. Ruby does not seem to grow as a person or character. There is a lot of potential in this character and series; I wish this had lived up to it.

Killing Ruby Rose was a really fun thriller, and I was so excited to get the opportunity to read more about Ruby Rose and her crazy life. Including her gigantic shoe collection! And Resisting Ruby Rose really did not disappoint in any way. It was an excellent continuation of Ruby's story that had me on the edge of my seat pretty much the entire time.

I was mixed on the first book and liked this one better. Ruby's life is still pretty crazy and she still doesn't have the greatest adult role models but I liked that in this book, she was around other people more so we got to see more of her interactions. Something happens with her mom that makes me hopeful that their relationship can be salvaged in the future.

There is a new love interest introduced (Quinn) and Ruby is attracted to him right away. She's not sure if she can trust him, though. I

I love Ruby. She is a good-hearted, sassy, kick-butt girl. She's not perfect and makes mistakes. Her motivations are pure, but her crazy life gets in the way. She is still trying to figure out what her future holds and who she wants to be.

It's interesting seeing how all the different characters evolve from the first story: her mother, Ruby, Silver, and Liam. The book is fast paced and at times gritty.

I'm sure Quinn is supposed to be Mr. Smooth, gorgeous,

Ruby Rose enjoys catching bad guys. It was just another day in great shoes until Grissom Island. Now she has killed a person and her therapist continues to insist that she is not a killer. Detective Martinez is still looking for a chance to take her down and all Ruby wants to do is go back to the way things were. In waltzes Skryker. He is an agent in a secret organization that would like to recruit Ruby’s special skills. She could become a young spy and assassin, but can Ruby resist becoming a ...more

Another wild ride for Ruby Rose. I read this book in 24 hour period, I couldn't put it down. It was fast-moving, intense, full of action, and wild twists and turns. This book starts fast, lets you catch your breath sometimes, but then picks right back up and does not stop until the end. Ruby has some tough choices to make, as everyone around her is effected by her choices, good or bad. Her relationship with Liam is on the rocks, thanks to the mysterious Quinn, and other reasons. :) Martinez is ...more

Great Follow Up

Word to the wise: don't listen to this on audiobook. I made the mistake of listening to the first 60% of this book on audiobook and the narrator drove me nuts. She made Ruby sound like a ditz and the tone made her completely unlikeable. After I read the rest of it, I could actually take Ruby seriously again and with that the rest of the story. Don't get me wrong, Ruby has some extremely unlikeable character traits, but don't most female leads? What Ruby does have going for her is

Ruby Rose is a great character. She is a mix of Cher from Clueless and Veronica Mars. This is the second book in the series, and you really have to read the first (also a great read) to get the full story. This time Ruby's "family" and friends are under threat from several sides, and the action comes fast and furious as we are reunited with favorite characters from the first book and a few new faces. I love how Ruby never knows

I actually enjoyed this book better than the first. The first half of this one is less about Ruby being a bad-ass, and more about what being a bad-ass and having killed people has done to her. I liked getting deeper into Ruby's character in this book.

Of course, there's still plenty of action, as Ruby and Liam get pulled into an organization of elite young assassins, and Martinez continues to come after Ruby and what's left of her family.

Quinn is an intriguing and fun new character, and I loved

I read the first Ruby Rose book in April as my Kindle first choice and gave it 4 stars. I liked the second Ruby Rose book a little less. In the first book, Ruby was hunting serial killers, balancing high school and friends, it came off as over the top but she had a purpose. I didn't feel Ruby had any purpose in book two. Her motives were very vengeful and she just ended up alienating everyone around her. I thought it was weird for her to drop Liam so quick and run to Quinn. Also, I found it hard ...more

I want to say thank you to Amazon's Childeren's Publishing and Netgalley for letting me read this book. This was a fast pace squel for me. That kept me wanting more and more until it was over. I really love this series and the author never fails to amaze me. I can't wait for the next book. So what may be rate it 3 stars was it started off fast pace and it kept going. For me it didn't give me time to soak up the details I wanted to know. I also thought the main character was a little annoying. I ...more

Just like the first book, this was is reminiscent of Veronica Mars but the difference is that this one adds an element of Spy Kids to it. The book picks up pretty much where the first book leaves off. This book introduces a few more characters into the mix but still keeps the characters from the last book thoroughly in the mix. Although the book does not leave in a cliffhanger it does leave the door open for the next book. Definitely worth picking up this following up and looking forward to the ...more

Great Series!
This is a great series; Resisting Ruby Rose is the second book in the Ruby Rose series. It is best if you read the first book in the series before reading this one. Ruby is trying to come to terms that she has turned into a killer. An alleged CIA agent named Skryker asks Ruby to join his team of young assassins. This book is full of mystery and suspense. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Hang on for another crazy, twisty ride from Jessie Humphries! Ruby Rose is a fun, sassy, tough character who can kick anyone's butt, with designer shoes. There are new characters in this book, new problems, more kissing, same bad guy. Oh. And a few surprises...
This is a fun, intriguing read that was hard to put down.
There is some swearing and sexual tension.

Thanks to netgalley for the read.

Really, 2.5 stars but it was better than 2.

Ruby Rose can't catch a break. After being forced to kill several people in the first book in the series, Ruby is estranged from her Mother and trying to lay low and recover with the help of her sexy BF, Liam. Evil genius Martinez is somehow still alive and threatening her family, a secret assassin dude is trying to entice Ruby to his employ and Liam is suddenly a jerk. A serious jerk. His arc is what made this less than a fun read for me.

Another enjoyable "escape" book...

Yes, my wife picks on me about these books...... but, I really do enjoy them...especially now after two books. It's as if I know the character's personally, and I look forward to "watching" their lives unfold. It has great action once they get rolling.... this was just as I expected it would be...... This is the sequel to Killing Ruby Rose I really liked the first one and I really wanted to like this one I found myself struggling to like Ruby in this novel she was kind of a brat and I was kind of spoiled as far as the love interest so I guess you had a strike against her going to this novel but it ended well it just didn't do it for me but that's up to the author for writing well
