Review

This book was written in a very nice style. The plot moves quickly. Good character development and hard to put down. I felt compelled to keep reading. My only real problem with the book was its abrupt ending.

3.75 🌟 Interesting story. Was intrigued by the premise. Although this is the first in the Addison Shine series, it felt like we’d been dropped in the middle - Addie’s past always in the back of her mind, what happened to her missing sister? And a serial killer called Fearmonger on the loss - when FBI agent Addison Shine and her partner get a call to investigate a bizarre death - a women found scared to dead in a maze. Is it Fearmonger or something else?
The process flows well, a little too quickly for real life, as the agents track down clue after clue closer to the finally.
However, It seamed to end quickly with no real conclusion. Save the last victim and append the killer. Then what?
The last chapters seam to bear off, focusing on Addie’s decision to search for her sister and the Fearmonger stricking again, which I’m assuming will be an underlying premise through the rest of the series. While I might not rush out to obtain the next book right away, I will be interesting in continuing the read.

Nice story with interesting characters. It doesn't go too in-depth which is nice for a palette cleanser. Language was a bit over the top and needed a little less showing and a little more telling. Overall a nice experience.

I couldn't put the book down....I finished reading it in one sitting...on the sofa, then in bed and now I only have a few hours til I have to get up and get to work! If you start reading, you'd better be ready to stay divided to the book.

Audio version 1 star 🌟

This is difficult to review solely as a book since I listened to the audio version.

I rounded up to a 3-star review feeling the story base itself had some solid base characters and plot line. Though I could tell the author made several attempts at building intense situations, the climatic areas just didn't do it for me. I basically went straight through the book from start to finish without much change in emotions. That's not a good sign.
In a well written story:
*I want to be captivated.
*I want to be immersed into the story as if I'm in danger myself and run in fear right alongside the characters as the flee.
*I want to FEEL! I want to experience the plethora of feelings each character feels.
*I want to know the minds of each character.
*I don't want to know how the story ends, have it cut off because the writer ran out of ideas, or have it be a copycat of so many other stories I've already read with only names/places/and a few other things tweaked.

The book was perhaps okay if read in a printed version. However, do not get the audio! It glitches horribly! It's about as good as 2 tin cans with string. This happens in every chapter and often several times. It is unintelligible.

Kate Bold has another winner

Addison Shine and Javier 2 FBI agents are assigned a strange case of a woman found dead in an unusual place and with no apparent wounds. she and Javier research her history and while researching, another woman is found dead with no apparent wounds. As they were trying to connect the two women, a third another woman is also found dead. This is becoming unfathomable since none of the women have anything in common at least not yet.

As Allison and Javier research their path they find a strange connection that happened many years ago. It has to do with a carnival. Javier and Addison work together seamlessly each one using their strengths. Xavier strength seems to be utilizing the computer for back up information and Allison using her skills as a previous medical examiner, examining the victims themselves and their lives. The two working together discovers an old odd connection for all three victims. As they work the system they realize there’s going to be more and it’s not the direction that they were originally headed. It’s a totally new idea and the the new victim doesn’t have much time. It was good to see that both the FBI agents work together, each one contributing to the solve solving of the crime.

Too many books I’ve read lately. The female character runs away with the story and seemingly solves the whole case with a male assistant tagging along playing go-for instead of working along with the FBI agent, It was good to see them working along together.

This was well written little extraneous verbiage, which I find in a lot of books and is very distracting. Everything was upfront and straight to the point. I really enjoyed this book except….. for the last chapter, which was totally unnecessary. .

i liked the descriptive language but i think kate bold also really liked it because there seemed to be only a few descriptive phrases she would use. the way the characters spoke sometimes was a bit cringe and i think the thin romantic stream running through the book was unnecessary. also i get that dragging out the passages is meant to build suspense but i just kinda felt i was going around in circles and if they were real detectives working on my case i’d want them fired because they seemed to waste a lot of time venturing down irrelevant paths. i understand that’s kinda the point to build suspense before the answer was found but i wasn’t gripped i was just a bit disappointed in the detectives for starting with the unimportant stuff. and even in the end it felt like a wrong formula, right answer situation which was honestly a small let down because the way they found out just wasn’t as big of a breakthrough it would be if they used their brains earlier.

Should have been a DNF….

I kept reading after the first 2 chapters because the book was a super easy read. Just skip all the duplicate narration and it’s even shorter that it appears to be. On top of that, the plot is terrible and made no sense. The cop that’s supposed to be super brilliant and skilled is a bumbling idiot. Couple that with the author not paying attention (or caring) about the details of her own book…..it’s so cringe. At one point the author actually states that a hot cup of coffee in a warm car…..condensates. What?? I’m not talking about at the top like it was steaming. I mean on the outside like iced coffee does. That’s just one of the many issues I had with this book. Don’t waste your time. Seriously…..

Addison Shine is an FBI agent

She used to be a medical examiner, but after her fiancés death she changes careers. Two years later she still dreams about his death, and over 15 years later she still mulls over her sister, who went missing at a mall, at 10 years old ,while in her care. The sister and fiancé are reoccurring themes in the book. Another reoccurring theme is her unacted upon attraction to her partner, Javier Esposito. In my opinion these 3 subjects come up too often, detracting from what could have been a 4 star read.

Over all a decent story with a good plot line- not sure if I will continue the series.

I would say that this book was pretty average with nothing super special about it. I would equate it to CSI: Miami in book version. It’s a crime / FBI style book that takes you step by step through their investigation. It’s pretty straight forward with not a lot of twists and turns. It was, however, a nice, quick and easy read. It’s not over produced, over imagined, or overly twist or complex. If you’re reading a lot of thrillers or books with intricate story lines/ plots, this is a nice palette cleanser to read in between. I’ll likely finish the series.

Find Me is a story of a serial killer in the Seattle area, the story tells of a FBI partners searching for a person who kills in various ways. They try to piece together the facts as they try to figure out there relationship with each other. The actual story is pretty good. However the author is much too wordy. The book is filled with too much description as to be difficult to read. The premise of the story is also hurt by the fact they seem to be working the case by themselves.

A new series!

Whenever I'm in the mood for a gripping mystery or investigative thriller, Kate Bold is always my first choice. In this book, they uncover a strange connection to something that happened years ago — and I love how it all ties back to the previous story. It feels like she always leads the story down the right path. I really hope I end up loving all of Addison’s books as much as I love the Alexa Chase series.

As a mystery thriller, Find Me had an excellent plot but it just didn’t have the true thriller suspense that I was anticipating. In my opinion it seemed that too much was spent on how Addison felt about her partner. The ‘simmering love interest’ seemed forced within the plot. The repetition of Addison being able to keep her voice level considering ‘insert the situation she was in here’. I was sadly disappointed. I give it 3 1/3 stars

Great book

Enjoyed this book very much. I enjoy reading Kate Bold books. She knows how to put together a book and how to go about keeping the reader captivated. This is the start to another great series. Addison is possibly dealing with two serial killers in one city. All the while dealing with the disappearance of her sister many years ago. Looking forward to the next book!

"Find Me" Could Have Been a 5 Star Novel

No FBI Agent, or any other person experienced with firearms would ever use their service weapon as a hammer. It is wrong in too many ways to discuss here. That sort of spoiled the read for me. Never-the-less, FindcMe is a gripping novel.

Terror

Wow, what a thriller of a read! I loved Addison & her determination to track down a truly haunted killer. I could not put this book down. I didn’t even try but just read straight through.
Looking forward to reading the next book in this thriller.
I highly recommend reading Find Me, believe me, you will be hooked from the very beginning!

What is your worst fear?

A call comes into the FBI about a strange crime scene. Addison and Javier find a maze with a woman dead. Fear killed her., her claustrophobic fear as the maze became too narrow. Is this the work of the Fearmonger or another vicious killer?
This book progresses at a fast rate with total engrossing mystery. Loved the main characters and the storyline.

1.25 stars? This book had an interesting premise regarding the serial killer’s tactics, but otherwise was flat, repetitive, and poorly edited. I should have DNF’d it, but I needed it as a palette cleanser to get back into reading. Too much telling, not enough showing. It read like a high school English assignment at times with all of the metaphors and similes.

Fast-paced thriller as an FBI agent tries to find a killer as well as dealing with her sister kidnapping while she was a child.
Love the plot and the unraveling of the mystery, but the last part of figuring out the killer last crime scene probably was not realistic as it happened so fast.
Overall, I'm looking forward to reading what next.

A tense, addictive thriller that pulls you in from page one and barely lets up. While the pace is electric, a few investigative details feel skimmed over, and the plot could’ve wrapped more tightly. The ending delivers action but skips a full killer confession or sentencing, sliding instead into setup for the next book. Still, a strong start that leaves me curious for more.

I listened to this audiobook while crafting. It kept my attention and I enjoyed how it didn’t drag. I didn’t hate it but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone as a “must read”. It lacked that “shock” factor. I was hoping the killer would have been her partner. I’m not ruling him out for the Fearmonger, however. I didn’t like how it ended abruptly. I would continue with the series.

The storyline itself wasn’t too bad. It was well written and went at a fast pace so as a reader I didn’t get bored. I did however find it a bit distracting how much special agent Shine makes moony eyes over Javier. But that is probably building on some “chemistry” for further books in the series.
