Fate doesn't exist. Not for me, anyway.

I've survived as a Sigma for years. Relying on myself through my job as an EMT helping those who can't help themselves.
Something my pack never afforded me, even when they knew the cruelty of our Alpha.

But when I receive word that shifters are unaccounted for, and my best friend is one of the missing?

I have to go back.

I expected to face some of my demons at the pack gathering, but I didn't expect the rival Alpha to stare at me like that. I didn't expect him to know my name, and I definitely didn't anticipate him showing up at my hotel room after dark.

What could Rowan Steele want with someone like me? Especially when my Alpha already turned on him once, and Nathan Black wouldn't think twice at ripping out Rowan's throat for touching property that wasn't his to claim...

He leans against the doorway, filling the frame so only a sliver of moonlight slips through. "What are we going to do about this?"

I scoff, backing up a step. "About you crossing Kitimat territory?"

"I haven't crossed anything. This is neutral land."

"I'm Kitimat territory. You're standing in my room."

His eyes bore into mine, like flecks of onyx. "I thought you didn't belong to anyone..."

There was too much missing from this book to be enjoyable. The world, the characters, the history. There wasn’t enough details it constantly felt like I was out of the loop while reading this but it’s book 1 in a series.

I honestly should have DNF'D this one. The description made it sound right up my ally. The book was, in fact, not for me. I was bored and frustrated by the FMC near constantly. I desperately need to find my friend. Time is swiftly running out... but let me just hop over to this party really quick for some fun! I was so frustrated for so much of this. I was also really confused by the Alpha situation. Like I said, I should have given myself permission to stop reading this.

Strawberry??🫩

Really? That's what he went with? Jesus Christ.

I can't tell how I feel about this book. Probably because I have no feelings about it. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either. The writing literally felt like a Wattpad book.

Anyways.

Evelyn aka Strawberry, one of the worst nicknames I've heard btw, is the FMC. After fleeing her abusive ex (who's also her alpha?) she starts working as an EMT in Seattle. Her partner's name is Jack but she calls him Bruce because... he's an... ass? Idk.

Anyways. A year later she finds out her best friend from her old pack, that she hasn't spoken to since she left (I think. Might be wrong about that), is missing when her friend's brother calls her to tell her that. Lovely.

So she goes back home to Canada (I think) to investigate because apparently she's some sort of tracker so she has a good sense of smell or something?

She arrives meets the MMC, Rowan. He is the alpha of another pack that was a part of Evelyn's pack but after Evelyn's ex Nathan did some shit, because he's an ass, they split.

Rowan and Evelyn grew up together but ended up in the different packs, Rowan leading one and Nathan leading the other. Like I said, Nathan was an ass, he killed Rowan's father who was the 'original' alpha of both packs, took a few of its members and left, spinning some tale about how he's saving them or something.

Rowan and Evelyn are mates but because of Evelyn's past she's kinda ignoring it. A bunch of shit happens, they end up working together and fall in love or something.

Nathan is involved with some kind of ritual shit and is sacrificing people who were born in August or something. Oh, and there's this special dagger Evelyn found in Callie's room and it's magical or something but only when you use it in a certain way with blood and sacrifices and something about blood. Idk.

So yeah. Everyone goes to this sacred spot because Nathan is there with the people he's kidnapped to do something and yada yada yada. Rowan ends up killing him but the dagger disappears so there's some evil thing out there or something that was pulling the strings.

I think that's what happened. It's what I gathered anyways. Could be completely wrong. I don't really care tbh. I'm not gonna continue with the series, if there is one.

That sounded rude. I didn't mean it in a mean way. Just not my cup of tea ig. This review is a mess. I don't even think it's a review. It's more like a shitty summary. Whatever. It's not like anyone but me is gonna see it.

This book took me by surprise - in a good way! I was expecting a story with the generic alpha/beta/omega vibes where half of the chapters are them arguing over their status, but the author did a great job of humanising these characters and having their 'species' as a secondary consideration while still weaving it in well.
We follow a bit of a mystery where we have a sigma who has left her pack has to return due to people going missing and finds her mate in Rowan, another alpha. There's a lot of trauma to unpack around her character which was interesting to read.
It was refreshing to read of their romance without it having to focus so much on sex scenes. While we know they're adults and having sex, it wasn't the main component of the book. However, some of the scenes fell a bit flat for me as I wasn't sure what was going on. For example, they go to a cabin and it seems like they're about to do something but it's left at that. Later on in the book, she thinks about what he did and I was all, "Oh! I didn't even realise anything had happened there!" Sometimes the vagueness was a little too vague to the point where I was confused if anything actually happened between them.
I also felt like they already knew who the big bad was from the first page so it made the plot feel a little sluggish in some places. While we still had to prove it and find the victims, it was clear what the end game was going to be and there were no twists in the tale.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and I thought the characters were really well developed. As someone who doesn't often read werewolf books due to the heavy tropes usually featured, this book was a pleasant surprise and I enjoyed reading it. Would recommend to anyone who is interested in plot over romance and well-built characters. Great for readers who don't want to read large extracts of smut.

Moon Fated: A Fated Mates Wolf Shifter Paranormal Romance by Luna M. Rose

Luna M. Rose brings us the first in a new series, Moon Fated. Enter into a gem filled with mystery, longing, danger and intrigue.

We start with just trickles, tidbits of memories that have haunted Evelyn for five years while away from her pack and family. When a call comes in from her best friends brother, she has to make the hard choice to come out of hiding and face a past better left behind her. Along the way, Rowan comes back into her life and she must partner with him to find her friend, no matter the risk.

Intent on protecting her, Rowan is determined to show Evelyn that he can be trusted enough to let their bond solidify. As they come up against a mutual enemy from their past, Rowan shows Evelyn, in no uncertain terms, that Fate has a way of bringing you what, or who you need, when you least expect it.

This book pulled me and and refused to let go until I had finished it. Read in one evening, I am excited to dive into the next book. The angst almost jumped off the page and I was holding my breath through more than one chapter. Fantastic world building and a lot of mystery waiting to be solved in the rest of the series. I can't wait!

Extremely well done to the author, and I really look forward to continuing!

My thanks to BookSirens and the author for a copy of this book, all opinions expressed are my own.

Not my usual genre, but thought I'd try it out. I dont think the whole werewolf pack & fated mates romance plotline is for me. But others may definitely enjoy it!

2 of the 3/4 intimate scenes were a little more descriptive than I realized they would be. I've listened to some of Cindy's other audiobooks on YouTube and they have been closed door and not explicit (her Canadian Hockey Romance series), but this one contained slightly more "spice" than I would have liked. Due to that I won't be listening to the rest of the series out of personal preference.

Tropes: fated mates, forbidden love, found family, lone wolf

Moon Fated tells the story of Evelyn and Rowan. Evelyn has been working and living on her own for many years after leaving her pack behind. When she finds out her best friend has gone missing, Evelyn returns to her pack lands to help rescue her. But what she doesn’t anticipate is to run into her childhood friend, Rowan, and the feelings it stirs up.

I’ve been wanting to dip my toes into werewolf/shifter romances, and this one did not disappoint. I’m also a sucker for broody possessive cinnamon rolls and oooh boy did Rowan have my toes curling. That billiards scene was 🥵🥵🥵 The chemistry between Evelyn and Rowan was amazing. I do wish we’d gotten more character development from the secondary characters, but besides that this book was so good!!! I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

I received a review copy of this book, and What a read… From beginning to end I was completely hooked…

Great characters, great storyline, and from the very first chapter I was enthralled…

A mystery to be solved within a shifter's world… of course there are the good and the bad guys, but with some surprises so not all is as it appears…

I really can't say much more without giving away anything…

Just a really engaging read, can't wait to read the next book…

I’m always a sucker for fated mates and chemistry between main characters, and this book gives all that. It’s a good paranormal shifter fantasy with some spice, and I really enjoyed reading it. The cover is also beautiful and I was honored to be an ARC reader, I finished it in a couple days too!!

Tropes:
- fated mates
- touch her and*e
- strong FMC
- understanding MMC

It’s a great plot and story with great character development, and you know it’s good and the characters are written well when there is an evil character that you are happy they get served their dish of karma.

Definite recommendation for anyone who loves a shifter paranormal fantasy

Book two comes out on August 30th 2024

HAPPY READING!!

I received an ARC of this book, which does not affect my review. Thank you to the author and Booksirens for the chance to read this book.

Moon Fated is a fast paced and very quick read. I can’t recall reading many shifter books in the past even if I know of the genre. There are the usual tropes that intersect with fae fantasy and this genre: fated mates, touch her and die, tons of romance. If you like action, quick scenes, and a pretty straightforward plot that mostly centers on the romance, you will probably find something to enjoy here.

Despite struggling a little to get engaged, which I think has more to do with the actual genre and type of storytelling within this niche of paranormal fantasy romance, I for the most part liked the characters. The writing from a wording level was also good and clear. Where I had the most problems staying engaged was how surface level the scenes were and then to some extent the characters. Tension would happen, and instead of simmering, everything boils over the top right away, and then we’re onto the next thing, and the next, and the next. The side characters lacked enough background or layers for them to feel intriguing, and even the main characters felt like they had chemistry just for the sake of having chemistry.

But this is where I am split, because I think depending on what you go into the read for, it can serve your purposes. If you want a quick, easy entry shifter romance with a plot that you just have to take it for what it is and let it bring you along, it can work. Where my interest lies more is in the details, in small things that really matter to flesh out the world, characters, and the plot. While I realize the merit of a quick, romantic book that relies more on feelings, I was wanting more insight into, well, everything, especially with the abuse storyline. I think that while it wasn’t skirted over at all, it could have benefited from more clarity all around, and more depth of exploration. So while I would not feel right at all giving this book a 2 because it did have fun romantic moments, I would say my rating is more like a 2.5 but I will round it to 3 because there were not really any parts where I wanted to put the book away, just where I was itching for more depth and didn’t find it. I am not sure if I would pick up the next. Maybe, if I had a day or two free with nothing else to read, but I would hope for a little more layers all around with characters and plot to keep me fully invested.

Okay, let me just say, 'Moon Fated' was a wild ride! This was my first foray into a world where all the main characters anre shifters, and I'm officially hooked. Luna M. Rose has crafted a captivating world with intricate lore and a cast of characters that are both intriguing and relatable.

Evelyn and Rowan? Sigh. Their slow-burn romance was agonizingly delicious. The tension between them simmered for ages, building a fire that eventually exploded into a scorching inferno. I loved how their connection deepened beyond the physical, exploring trust, vulnerability, and shared secrets. It made my heart ache with longing for their happiness.

And the pack politics? Oh, the drama! The tension between the different packs was palpable, practically leaping off the page. You could practically feel the simmering animosity and the ever-present threat of conflict. It kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering when the inevitable clash would occur. The fear and uncertainty that permeated the atmosphere were truly gripping.

But oh, that cliffhanger for Calista! Seriously, Luna, how could you?! I'm left hanging on a precipice of uncertainty, desperate to know what happens next. This book has left me with a craving for more, and I'm already eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Overall, 'Moon Fated' is a captivating and well-written story with a touch of sass and a whole lot of heart. If you're looking for a shifter romance that will keep you hooked from beginning to end, I highly recommend giving it a read.

That being said, I did wish the book was a bit longer. I felt like I was just getting to know the characters and the world when it ended. I would have loved to see more in-depth character development and world-building to truly immerse myself in this captivating universe.

DETAILED REVIEW

I LOVED THIS BOOK! But I also hated it.
Luna is a new author to me, and I love her work. I was genuinely hooked from the first page, and it really was a 'can't put it down' book!
"You are worthy of worship, he murmured, can I show you?"
.
So why the low score?
I found it really hard to rate this one because although it was really well written, really well paced and a really good story- I got annoyed at one scene- no spoilers here so all I can say is that our FMC gets into a very dangerous place, the characters know how seriously dangerous and stupid it is and then suddenly forget the danger because one of them smells good.... It's stupid! And really annoyed me! The author had gone through so much to make sure that we, as the reader, fully understand just how dangerous it is. And just how serious and scared we should be! Next thing there's some love struck teenage moments happening...
(Plus, the low score made you read this!)
The spice - although being closed door - is as hot as it gets in this category! I loved every damn word, but god, do I wish it was full on open door because it would likely be the best spice ever read because WOW, THIS AUTHOR! w.o.w...
*final thoughts
Without that one scene, this would have been a full 5-star read for me, my second ever 5star, in fact.
I loved the reluctant mate bond and the packs and twists, and the intrigue, and I can not wait for the second book! GO AND READ THIS NOW! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This series is perfect for fans of shifter romance who love a twisty mystery. Five powerful relics, the legend of the Shadow Pack, and Alphas who define the word, what else could you ask for?

Each story centers around a fated couple. The connections are powerful but include choices, tenderness, protective men and spunky, strong women. The author painted a believable picture of the lives of shifters in a human world.

Rowan and Evelyn knew each other as children. When their pack split their lives took different, divergent directions. A chance meeting pulls them reluctantly together.

Rowan is Alpha of his pack and his priority is to protect and strengthen them but an invisible cord draws him toward her. She can’t possibly be his destined mate. The emotion conveyed in the writing was absolutely convincing. I was right there with him as he struggled to come to terms with the changes happening in his life, the struggle between duty and desire.

Evelyn feels the pull, but she’s been hurt by an Alpha and forced to leave her pack for her own safety. She doesn’t need anyone, she’s fine living on the outside, until she isn’t. Her fears are palpable, her confusing desires and loneliness real and I found myself rooting for her to get everything she didn’t know she needed.

These books have tightly written plots that tie together, characters who draw you in, and enough mystery/action to keep you reading.

I was hooked from the get go of this story, i couldn’t put it down as it instantly peaked my interest with how Evelyn explained how she was currently living offering little snippets of her past life which made me instantly want to read more to see what had gone on!

It fully intrigued me with the plot slowly unravelling throughout the book and just made me want to read more and more! I finished this book within two days and whilst i wasn’t reading about it i was definitely thinking about it and all the possible ways the plot could go!😍

Honestly when i wasn’t reading it throughout the day i constantly thought about it stringing crazy little theories in my head of what would happen in the next chapters i read but it was always something entirely different it was great!

I absolutely loved how Rowan instantly understood Evelyn, that there was more than meets the eye with her and the progression of it through the plot was amazing!

The world building along with the character progression was amazing, learning about the main characters but also the positions or the other characters throughout whilst being hooked on the plot continued throughout the whole book i loved it all the way through😍

I really loved this book, it kept me hooked the whole way through and i can’t WAIT to read the second one😍🙌🏻

What an amazing book!!

An easy addictive read

This is a first read from this author for me. I just wanted something not too heavy, too long to read after finishing a heavy book and this was perfect.
It’s a fast paced book, without feeling rushed Wolf/shifter book and I ate it up.

I know there a few books so wasn’t sure if this was going to be dragged out but it left a want to know more while still feeling rounded off on the characters I was reading.

The MMC Rowan is alpha of the pack and is asked to help his old pack, one he had to escape from help find missing wolves. He wants to be the bigger man but that’s hard when your old pack think you’re a traitor from the lies the alpha has told them. Then comes his childhood best friend, the FMC Evelyn.

Evelyn has been in hiding, she left her old pack years ago, but when her best friends brother calls begging for help because his sister is missing and you’re the best tracker their pack had you have to put your emotions and fear aside to help. Even if you’re terrified of running into the alpha and your ex.

Instead you run into another alpha, who your wolf makes perfectly clear is your mate and you slowly learn to trust that not all alphas are the same.

Can you really trust the words of an alpha? Does he really only want you to be happy? Can you find your best friend before something terrible happens?

This was a really great shifter book and I’m invested enough I am about to start the second book!

This book left much to be desired in terms of investing in the story. It felt like there were too many threads that had to be woven into it, leaving too many open gaps. I found myself skipping through several chapters to see if the ending is more interesting.

I felt there was little to no development from supporting characters like Lana, Jasper, Blake, etc. They were supporting ghost actors in your peripheral vision. Thus, the only people you focus on are the ever-panicked I'm-just-here-to-track-and-leave Evelyn and You-left-my-pack-I-hate-you to oh-my-mate-my-wolf-wants-you male lead, Rowan. And, frankly, they were not much to focus on.

It took a while before I could confirm that the female lead had suffered abuse at the hands of her alpha. This aspect was glossed over a few too many times, with the female lead displaying key characteristics of an abuse victim. This led the male lead to show genuine compassion and understanding at the outset of their relationship. I had to hand it to him; his instincts were spot-on, and I feel that he handled the situation well. This was about the only good thing from the development of their relationship; there was no real depth, and the ending - where the "evil" Nathan's plans were revealed - was rushed.

Moon Fated had the bones of a great story, the mystery was compelling as were the characters. The history between Rowan and Evelyn and their packs was interesting and added a layer to their relationship. However, I felt like the history remained somewhat unknown and because so much was hinted at but not explored I had a harder time connecting to their characters. This is the first book in a series so some loose threads are expected as the story arc develops over multiple book. But, the idea is that Rowan and Evelyn's story ends here and the next couple picks up the plot threads and weaves them in the next book. With that in mind I think we could have learned more about Rowan and Evelyn's backstory in this book, laying the groundwork for future books but making this book feel more complete and the relationship between Rowan and Evelyn feel deeper. My connection to the characters and the connection between characters felt more surface level.

The many loose plot threads may be enough for me to pick up book 2 though, so mission accomplished on that front.

Thank you NetGalley and Luna M Rose for the copy of this book, all thoughts are my own

**Book Review: *Moon Fated* by Luna M. Wilder**
**Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)**

*Moon Fated* by Luna M. Wilder was a quick read that pleasantly surprised me. I enjoyed the characters, especially the unique take on the shifter world, where the werewolf traits didn’t overshadow the emotional development of the characters. The romance between the main characters, a sigma wolf and an alpha, was engaging without relying heavily on sex scenes, which was refreshing.

However, there were some moments where I felt confused due to missing context, and some scenes were vague to the point of leaving me unsure if certain events had even happened. While the plot was interesting, it was fairly predictable, and the lack of twists made it feel a bit sluggish at times.

Overall, *Moon Fated* is a solid story with well-developed characters and an intriguing shifter dynamic, but the plot could have used a bit more suspense and clarity. It’s a great read for those who prefer character-driven stories over heavy romance or smut.

I’ve only read a handful of books with a wolf shifter story and I ended up really liking this story! Evelyn is the main character as is in hiding, away from her pack with an abusive past at the core. She is working as an EMT by safely away from the group. Suddenly her world is turned upside down when her best friend, Callie’s brother calls and tells her that Callie is missing. To help him which she knows she should and wants to but that would also mean that she would have to leave the safety of her hiding spot and face some of those people from her past. Rowan comes into the picture and I could tell that he really wanted to prove himself to Evelyn and I thought his character progression through the story was cool to see. Then comes Nathan, the Alpha of the Black Lake Pack and you can see why Evelyn was hiding! All of the bits and pieces that are revealed about her past got me intrigued and I was excited to keep reading to find out what happened! The progression of the story was believable and I almost forgot that this was a shifter/ werewolf/ fantasy type story and not just a plain contemporary romance novel and I liked that! I’m excited to read more by this author.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice Level: 🌶️
Kindle Unlimited: Yes

Moon Fated is a quick easy read to start off the Shadow Pack Legends series. I had a good time, I think I would have rated it higher if it was a little bit spicier, but I didn't mind that the spicy scenes were pretty brief.

The chapters were short and it was super easy to binge this book in a day. If you like werewolf dynamics then you'll like this book, it's the start of a series, so don't expect everything to be wrapped up in a nice bow at the end.

I was a little bored by the romance, there was so much tension, and it took so long for them to get anywhere, and there wasn't a ton of backstory on the characters and how they knew each other to make their love story super believable to me. I kinda felt like it was just lust and then they loved each other, but they didn't know each other? But also they grew up together? Just a little confusing. But an easy romance was exactly what I was in the mood for so it didn't affect my rating at all.

Thank you so much to Book Sirens for the eARC of this book, all opinions are my own!

Great book!
I was worried at first it was gonna be a typical “I’m the alpha do as I say!” And then an mc being like “oh yeah I’m secretly an alpha too you can’t tell me what to do!” But I was pleasantly surprised! I loved that there was mentions of the pack hiarchy but it wasn’t drilled into every page and was more of an off hand “oh they’re a beta omega gamma etc” there was no bullying of the omegas or rouges and it is a very refreshing system! There’s no “the mystical moon goddess is so magical and blessed us with mates but I can’t find mine oh my god it’s the big brooding scary alpha I’m terrified!” It was well thought out and human like of “oh hey you’re cute I want to get to know you I feel the chemistry between us stronger than I ever felt before.” The tension of the bad guy’s actions were more so implied for what they did to the mc but the way the mcs actions reflected that there were some DEEP hurts inflicted upon them by the bad guy with real life reactions were chefs kiss! So glad I found this series!!! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Fabulous start to a series that I know, without a doubt, I an totally hooked on. The storyline is riveting and powerful with dark undertones. You know, that kind of feeling you get when something dark and mysterious is lurking, you just KNOW it is, and you're waiting for its next move... yes, those are the feelings this story evokes. As the initial book in the series, alot of groundwork is laid in this book, and while the overall ARC concerning the dark magic is continued further in the next installment, the romantic suspence component is self contained. Rowan and Evalyn were friends, once upon a time, before Nathan and his thirst for power pulled everything apart (and I mean everything). When people start going missing, including her best friend, Evelyn is drug back to the one place she swore she'd never return. Even with Fate on his side, will Rowan be able to convince Evelyn that her place is at Black Lake Pack, with him?

I an voluntarily providing this review of a gifted copy of this book. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

Moon Fated

Book 1 in the Shadow Pack Legends series, Moon Fated centres on Evelyn, an outcast rogue shifter who fled her pack, and Rowan, Alpha of a rival pack. Wolves are disappearing and when one of those wolves is an old friend, Evelyn heads back to the one place she never thought she'd go back to.
I liked Evelyn as a character. She was strong and independent but also had a vulnerable side. The scars of her past still haunted her. This didn't allow her to trust easily, so when she found herself drawn to Rowan, she was uneasy about the connection. Rowan never pushed, however. Rowan allowed her to see that not all Alphas lead with an iron fist. The world building gave some background on how their packs came to be split. The author also alluded to the things that Evelyn had to endure before she ran.
This was a quick, fast-paced read that sets the stage for the rest of the series. While Evelyn and Rowan have their Happy, the overarching storyline continues on. This will be perfect for fans of Fated mates and MCs you can't help but like!
