Good read, short and to the point. Part of the book is an eye opening account of the privatisation drive and overhaul of government departments in the 80's. It goes into good detail about the incredible wastage and mismanagement of taxpayers funds at the time. Teams of linesman employed to look after disestablished railways, NZ Rail losing 1mil per day, NZ Post manufacturing its own trucks at 4x the cost of buying new, constant telephone exchange blackouts and network overloads, buying surplus product that will never be used to ensure the next years budget isn't cut... the list goes on.
Spoken to older people who dont really like Richard Prebble, but based on these ideas, it's hard to see why. In a world where everyone seems to advocate for socialism, this was a refreshing read.
