Three years ago, Astrid lost her husband in a terrible accident. Heartbroken and with her entire world turned upside down, she'd resigned herself to the fact that at the age of twenty- four, she would never love again for the rest of her life.
Yet, as her brother's wedding approaches, one of his groomsmen begins to reawaken parts of Astrid’s body that have been dormant for years.
Bastien is a successful lawyer, a marathon runner, and sexy as hell. Worse, he's well aware of all this. But he's also the perfect distraction as the anniversary of Astrid’s husband's death approaches.
But she’s not ready for their love affair to be public. That would make it too real… After a trip to Alaska, during which she and Bastien started to connect on a deeper level, it has come time for Astrid to decide if she has enough room in her heart to love again.
The Thrill of Being Caught is a tale of a widow’s second chance at love, and is the third book in Elyse Fryer’s The Edge series. These books are best read in order
I was a bit hesitant to read this at first as I thought it was going to be heavy on the smut and light on the plot but I was pleasantly surprised that there was a good balance between the two. The overall plot was filled with a rollercoaster ride of emotions but there were some very warm and fuzzy moments which the author created to help balance out the spiciness of the book. The character progression was so well written and the FMC was very relatable and easy to empathise with even though I haven't been in her situation. It also ends with a few surprises which were a nice way to wrap things up. I will definitely be keeping an eye out to see if there are any more books about this story in the future 😍 there are a few mistakes which take you out of the story for a second until your brain corrects them but they are easy enough to work out what the author meant by them. I would highly recommend reading this book though if you love a good spicy romance
Im so glad I took the chance and opportunity to read this book. I really enjoyed it. Bastien is so swoon-worthy and Astrid is such a strong FMC. I really loved the whole taking risks theme. The way Astrid overcomes her grief and moves on in her life is admirable and I loved Bastien for her. I absolutely loved all the side characters as well. The spice was amazing and I especially loved the Paris scene!
This was SUCH a cute book and I’d love to see this turned in to a rom com! The writing is so well done, I could easily picture everything. The story and the spice is perfect!! I could really relate with Astrid on a few things and the storyline hit my heart in a few places, I was sorta sad when it ended!! I want more of her and Bastien!!
Astrid and Bastien This book was a very nice read. It shows how a widow but young woman struggles to accept a new man in her life. I liked the chemistry the couple shared especially in the bedroom - or better - out of it. It had a nice plot and descriptions and really made me curious to meet the other couples' stories. A lot of spice and hot moments. I highly recommend it.
This is the third book in The Edge series. This is a very emotional romance. I enjoyed Bastian and Astrid’s story. He was the perfect second Chance for her. I was invested in it from the start. The characters were so well developed and likable. An excellent romance.
This is book three in the series and I was looking forward Astrid's story. It can be read as a standalone, but you will already be invested in the characters if you start with book one. I love it when we get to see characters from one book to another. My heart went out to Astrid in the previous books. I think Bastien was perfect for her. He was so patient. A good read for a rainy day.
