Amazing attention to historical facts while remaining a fun novel read.

The Dona fictionally documents an era of California history which is obscured by the mists of time and lack of documentation...bringing it to vivid life! Any reader of conscience will be moved to leap into the story and attempt to intervene on behalf of the heroine and her (fortunately!) large circle of talented supporters. I WAS starting to think the bad guys would never get their comeuppance...
