Did you know that the world's favorite snack is popcorn? That what you eat every year could fill about 170 grocery bags? That fewer than half of the world's people use a knife, fork, and spoon? Welcome to the world of Food Rules! Cool enough for kids to savor, scientific enough to be an invaluable resource, this is the most comprehensive book on food and nutrition ever created for kids. It's full of mouthwatering stories, jokes, recipes, rumors, and facts, and a supermarket of zany illustrations. Definitely food for thought.
This was a great introduction to food, nutrition & how our body processes what we eat. Kids will love the clever and entertaining way the book explains each fascinating concept. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it & laughed my way through the learning process.
This is a terrific book but it took us waaaaaay too long to read it. We would only read a chapter or two at a time and it was too easy to pass over in favor of another book, so we really drug it out. The information provided is factual, interesting and told in a way that children can really understand. My only issue is that it is a fairly long book, so most younger children will lose interest quickly. I love that it really emphasizes fueling your body with healthy foods, something that most of us parents preach to our children every day. We all learned a lot by reading this book.
Very clever book for elementary age students...especially boys. Covers digestion and the digestive system through pictures and "romping" text. Grossed me out in some places but my boys "ate" it up!!!
For elementary students. Great way to talk about healthy eating. Not preachy. Has funny sides down the side of the page. But some really good information. I just wish it was still in print.
