Ours Evermore #5

Pastries on a Plate and Blood in a Mug

Rate this book
During a hunt for a job, Mila didn't expect to come across a man being brutally mugged. Rescuing him leads her into the hidden world of wolf shifters, vampires, and feelings she never thought she'd experience.

Mila

Mila Jones has always trusted too easily and too much. That leads her into a situation where she’s homeless, jobless, and down to her last few dollars in a city hundreds of miles from her friends and family. Too ashamed to call home for help, she’s determined she’ll figure a way out of her mess all by herself. She’s done being the victim, she’s going to be the hero from now on!

But can a chubby baker from the midwest be a hero?

Gio

Gio is a vampire of wealth and distinction. When he finds Carter he thinks he has everything. Sharing a part of his soul with the wolf shifter keeps Gio in control of his vampire instincts and makes him more content than he’d ever been. It never occurs to him that he will not be enough for his alpha wolf shifter.

What can he do to make his wolf happy?

Carter

Carter loves Gio, but he was used to taking care of an entire pack. When he became part of Gio’s flock, he gave up his pack to another alpha. His powerful vampire mate doesn’t need a wolf shifter to shield him from anything. Being bonded to a strong partner means Carter has no place to put all his protective instincts.

How does he reconcile his love for Gio and his need to care for someone?

A chance encounter and heart-pounding chase will bring these three together. Can they be the answer to each other’s questions?

Pastries on a Plate and Blood in a Mug

Lots of fun in this story. The MFC is a plus size baker, full of light and warmth. She has an interesting magic ability.

I appreciated the trans character in the book as well as the MFC’s response to her,

“Maddy was trusting me with her truth,... I’ve never felt so honored before, and I’d like to keep talking to her. Strong, beautiful people are always worth knowing.”

Also, I'm so happy about how many books have plus size heroines. Awareness of fat phobia is powerful and I appreciate all body sizes being normalized.

“As if my size was the reason all bad things happened to me. Didn’t get the job? It’s because you’re fat. Relationship over? Fat. Headaches? Fat. It’s as if everything I am as a person is reduced to my size, and it’s all negative.”

Her parents were the biggest offenders who taught her this thinking. I actually was annoyed she forgave them in the end. I feel like our society lets parents off the hook all the time. You don't have to forgive your parents - not ever - and her parents were so destructive her whole life. I appreciate that the author shined light on this sort of behavior.

Pastries on a Plate and Blood in a Mug is the vampire book you didn’t know you needed.

Mila wasn’t looking for trouble when she walked into a bar that she shouldn't have been able to see … but trouble, with fangs and fur, walked right into the same bar. Good thing she’s got a calm demeanor, a sassy tongue, and a heart big enough for more than one supernatural suitor.

This laugh-out-loud paranormal romance delivers heat, heart, and a few tearful surprises. If you love found family, protective shifters, broody vampires, and a heroine who handles it all with wit and grace, then Pastries on a Plate and Blood in a Mug is your next binge-read.

Spicy, throuple (mmf - swords cross), 3rd person multiple point of view, paranormal romance. I love fated mates and I love throuples so I can't believe I've never read this series before! Though the story included characters from other books I wasn't lost at all. (Though I will be going back to the first book and reading them in order now.) There is some conflict and peril but this was not a tense read; probably because there was so much humor, goofiness, and chemistry. This is a perfect length read that I thought was shorter because I flew through it. I can't wait to read about the next throuple that we got a glimpse of in this book!

I love this series!

This is Geo,Carter and Mila's story.Mila was so optimistic even when her life got so bleak. Her nasty ex was a recurring problem throughout the book, but was dealt with in a satisfying way at the end.Mila's usery and manipulative parents inadvertently caused the major problems in the book. They got better and turned around in the end.I liked how the characters in previous books had appearances in this one.I want to see Danzig and Murdak get their fated mate Bec.That will be a fun read.Excellent installment to an excellent series. 😃

Yes! I definitely need to consume more baked goods!

This was the trifecta of everything I never knew I needed. This was such a sweet story and I loved the dynamics of this trouple and getting to see the gang briefly in this story.

Having the family and Bec come down was chef's kiss.

I can not wait to read more from this world and see past characters once again...until next time.

The alpha wolf didn't feel alpha at all, constantly getting in trouble, nearly dying in every fight, and just being totally clueless in most situations.

I was surprised by thr plot, I thought it was going to go one way similar to others in the series, but it went left. I liked the surprise but it was poorly executed.

Her family was ridiculous. It felt authentic and real in the beginning, but by the end reality went out the window.

A flock completed

I love how all the members of this flock felt self conscious about something but together they each grew and built the others up.

Mila finally moved out on her own but nothing worked out how she wanted it to. Now she's moved in with Carter and Gio. Nothing quite seems to be normal anymore. Great mix of paranormal fun, spice, and suspense.

Another great story in the Ours Evermore series
Great story about two supernaturals looking for their third, an adorable puppy and a unsecure baker trying to find her place in life. I especially loved the great amount of pastries throughout the book, the big show-down at the end and the glimpses in Bec's future.

Sunshine!

I love this entire series! The relationships in these flocks are adorable. In this one, I enjoyed watching Mila grow in confidence and become able to stand up for herself after a lifetime of only caring for others. She manages to find a healthier balance in her life that can be hard to achieve. Her gift is both unique and representative of her personality.

Another excellent read!

I am absolutely loving this series. I devoured this in one sitting so of course I am desperate for the story of Bec, Danzig and Murdak.
Such a great series, can’t give it enough stars.

Absolutely wonderful read!

Humans, vampires and shifters finding their mates/flocks. The author grabs in the first chapter and you won't be able to put the book down. I read out of order but I'm going back to the start. I highly recommend

Nice Story

I love this series and although you could read as a standalone, the series is enjoyable as you get to know the characters and the world. No cliffhanger, thank you. I love Gio, Carter and Mila. This was a cute story.

An engaging story. Steamy and sweet. I didn't always connect with the writing.
