Calling all Assassins fans: A Very Merry Hockey Holiday gives you glimpses into the holiday’s with all your favorite characters! I loved this! It was so much fun to spend the holidays with the Assassin’s family. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more. It was really great!

There was something memorable about each story...

Lucas and Fallon
Crazy Pregnantasaurus Rex

Audrey and Tate
Tears. All kinds of tears. This was such an emotional chapter for me.

Piper and Erik
“Your kid is a cock block

Reese and Phillip

This right here just solidified by Phillip is my favorite Assassins man. Holy hotness. I love that guy!

Claire
With a big red bow on top :)

Shea and Elli

Bass Pro Shop and the Bear. I’ve not laughed so hard in the longest! Love this family!

Karson and Lacey
A beautiful surprise!

Kacey
After reading her chapter... what can I say? I am so freaking excited for this book. I can’t even stand it. This quote scared me a bit... but I know Toni will make it okay.
“Know that you’re the only girl who has left a mark.”

She nodded.“I wish that mark was enough.”

“Me too,” he admitted.

This is one of those series I never want to end. I loved catching up with all my favorites and can’t wait for whats next to come!

And you know why? Because authors give us presents like this book. Short stories of our favorite books with our favorite couples.
I love short-stories. They are like mini epilogues and I’m an epilogue whore. So, obviously, I loved this book. And the last chapter about Kacey left me very anxious to read her book!
This has a chapter dedicated to each couple from the “Assassins” series, so if you’re a fan of this series, this a book you really can’t miss. Especially of you want to see more of your favorite couple! :)
For 0,99cnts, buy yourself an awesome Christmas present!!

This book adheres to what I like to refer to as:

The "Pregnancy + Babies = AUTOMATIC HEA Principle."

I should copyright that brilliance right there.

This book, in a nutshell, was a whole lotta this...

Now, even though there was definitely some "OMG I'm just so fucking happy" overkill

I still enjoyed it.

We got to check in with ALL of our Assassin Series couples and families from all previous books, which was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the chapters with Phillip and Reese.

And, of course, I loved the scenes that had my Shea...aka Super Dad.

This was definitely a fun installment which all fans of the series will enjoy.

Even more exciting though, we got a little teaser for Kacey's book, Overtime, which is coming up next and sounds really good.

Read with Rating in 2015. Written Review added 2021:

I read the beginning of the Assassins series in 2015 when I was providing a rating only and providing written reviews. If and when I re-read this series, I will provide a more formal review. However, the rating was accurate at the time and I totally love Aleo's writing style and the entire series. It's a professional sports series based on the NHL team the Nashville Assassins.

A Very Merry Hockey Holiday was a novella and the eighth book in the series. I highly recommend the Assassins series and all spin off series: The Bellevue Bullies, Nashville Assassins Next Generation, and The Ice Cats.

OK, overall I think is a 3/5 because I'm a sucker for this series but I decided to give a rating to every story.

1. Fallon & Lucas 0/5. Big NO. I really hate them. He's a fucking idiot and she's a silly woman... So I don't care what happened to them.

Dear Lucas...

description

2. Audrey & Tate: 3/5. I'm in love with Tate. He's freaking awesome and even when I disliked Audrey in this story, I could bear her because of Tate. A cheesy story with a predictable end, but it's OK, it's Tate.

description

3. Piper & Erik 3/5. He's another freaking idiot but I learned to bear him. I don't hate him like I hate Lucas, so that's a good thing. I liked the story, not so cheesy, but I didn't like the plot about Piper's job.

4. Reese & Phillip 2/5. I don't dislike them but their book was sooo meh to be. In this story they spoke about Claire all the time and it was sooo boring. No my favorite story, but I liked the end.

description

5. Claire 0/5. FUCK NO. I hate whats-his-name (thanks for not name him in the title). That man is a fucking IDIOT and I don't want to know about him in my life. #ThanksButNoThanks

description

6. Elli & Shea 3/5. Super-duper-cheesy BUT it was cool to read about them. I love them because they are the ultimate couple of this series. It was OK.

description

7. Lacey & Karson 3/5. I knew this end was coming. I liked it. I liked Lacey hadn't forgiven her dad (why she forgave Rachel is beyond me). Karson is suuuper perfect and I love him. Good end to their story.

8. Kacey 4/5. I like this girl soooo much that I need her book right now! I hate whats-his-name and she deserves so much better, but I'm curious about their story and I'm praying because I want him to suffer for her. #YesPlease (I don't like his I'm-so-broken attitude, so I'm curious about the plot).

description

Overall, it was a cute reading. I just hope this people stop having so many children.

The end.

Who doesn’t love it when authors do a novella and bring us up to speed on the couples from their previous stories? Characters we fell in love with. I would beg to have a little novella yearly. I mean I want to know what they are doing, how they are progressing...

Well peeps, Toni Aleo has finally written a book about the Assassins hockey team and their wives! We can catch up with all the characters we love and can't get enough of-finally!

In this novella we join Shea and Elli..the couple that started all this. The “first couple” of the Assassins. Over the five books we have always gotten glimpses into their lives, usually Shea is knocking Elli up. I think they are giving the 19 kids and Counting a run for their money. But seriously would you say no to Shea??? I didn’t think so.

Lucas and Fallon are getting ready to welcome another child. Everyone all together now Awww..

Tate and Audrey are super happy with their little girl, but Audrey has made a wish for another baby, I’m wondering if Santa is listening and if Tate made the naughty list or not? Only Sanata knows!!

Erik and Piper are in their own world of happiness. And what is better than to see Erik going into the mall with his two kids in search of a Christmas Gift? Did I mention he is in a mall with a stroller with two kids!!! Nothing says I love you more than a little blue box with Tiffany’s written on top, trust me I know!!I have got to score me a hockey player!!!

Phillip Anderson has to be my most favorite guy of them all. Except I really can’t even say that since I love them all. But let's just say if Phillip came home from a hockey game early and decided he wanted dessert on the counter, well who am I to say no? He rocks all the way around!!! Oh and Claire and Jude are finally getting hitched….And Phillip couldn’t be happier…NOT!

And finally the couple we have all been waiting for- Karson and Lacey. I can neither confirm or deny that I went straight to their story. I mean come on. I want to know what happens next, how happy are they? I won't ruin it but I will say they are so happy.. Want to know who else is super duper happy- Kasey.

That’s right people Kasey is getting a book and her partner of choice will make you count the days until her book is released. And I for one can’t wait!

I love the Assassin's hockey families and this is the perfect Christmas novella! We get to see all of our favorites (Philip) getting ready for the holidays and spending time together. I loved seeing what they are all up to and I love Christmas, so this was just perfect for me! Toni is the queen of hockey hotness!

Lucas and Fallon
"I warned you. Go get eaten by Pregnantasaurus Rex."

Audrey and Tate
"Audrey, baby, just looking at you makes me happy. You are my everything."

Piper and Erik
"No maybe about it. I'm going to do you against their door."
"You wouldn't dare."
"You wouldn’t stop me."

Reese and Phillip(my fav.)
Jude punk ass Sinclair. Little Asshole.

"I miss you woman."
"Aw, I miss you."

"I'll kill you if you break her heart."
"I'll let you. I'm not going to do that."
"Good," he said. "Are you old enough to drink yet?"

Claire and Jude
I was chance that I met you.
Fate that we fell in love.
And a blessing that you want to marry me.

Shea and Elli
"You happy, baby?"
"So much, it hurts, Shea. You've given me everything I could have ever asked for."

"Speak, Shea Ryan Adler!"
"Yeah, I don't have anything."
"Nothing?"
He held up his hands. "I won't use the word dick in this house every again, and if anyone says it around our kids, I'll punch them in the di - penis."

Karson and Lacey
"Damn, woman! I'm supposed to take you out when you are that damn hot?"
"Yes, I spent two hours getting this hot. You are taking me out."

Kacey
"No, I plan on making you come at least three more times tonight."
"You wish. You don't make me come; I choose to."

Toni Aleo and Nashville Assassins fans will enjoy this sweet Holiday novella featuring all of our fave couples: Lucas and Fallon, Tate and Audrey, Erik and Piper, Jakob and Harper, Phillip and Reese, Shea and Ellie, Karsen and Lacey, and Jude and Claire from the Bellevue Bullies spin off series. We even get a bit more with Kacey King who is Karsen's sister, and her "anti-relationship" with JT that was teased in Laces and Lace and will be featured more in the next book Overtime.

We catch up with all of them around the holidays and see their crazy lives, joy, stress, and worries. There are blessings, babies, pregnancies, wedding plans, kids, happy couples, reunions, vacations, and life changes. This is such a tightly woven group of friends and family that support each other in good times and bad times. But also love to tease and taunt each other as well. There is the humor, romance, and camaraderie that we love with these Assassins players and their significant others. And it is fun seeing them now as stronger couples and growing families.

But I personally don't recommend reading this unless you are familiar with the Assassins books because they are more like little fun epilogues for each couple showing a window into their lives during the holidays that reference back to their individual books. But it was a perfect sweet, quick holiday read to catch up with all of our favorites, tease us a bit with future stories and events, and it left me with a smile on my face.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

What happens when you mix the holidays with all your favorite hockey players and their families? You get a most wonderful adventure full of laughter, tears, oh my moments and yummy smexy time moments. I'm not sure what Toni could have done to make this holiday novella any more perfect because it was simply amazing in so many ways!!

I loved the snapshot that she gave us into each couple and then a sneak peak into what is to come with Kacey and Jordan. Revisiting Shea & Elli, Harper & Jakob, Erik & Piper, Tate & Audrey, Phillip & Reese, Jude & Claire and Karson & Lacey reminded me yet again how fiercely all these couples love and how much I've missed them! As much as each couple's story is its own thing, they are all tied together and I loved how Toni never fails to draw on that connectedness. I don't know who's story was my favorite because they were all my favorite! Though I will say that Shea & Elli are hands down amazing and I'm gonna need to re-read their story soon! Also, the dynamic between Phillip and Jude just makes me laugh so much - they are hilarious; but at the same time they are both amazing to Claire and that surprise under the Christmas tree had me in tears!! Speaking of tears - Audrey and Tate - heartwrenchingly beautiful and wonderful!

So if you haven't read this one yet - GO, go now and snatch up this amazing novella!! And thank you Toni Aleo for sharing these holiday snapshots of our favorite Assassins friends!!

A Very Merry Hockey Holiday (Assassins #6.5) by Toni Aleo I loved this book! A Very Merry Hockey Holiday was a great way to get you in the mood for the holidays.

This novella was comprised of a bunch of short stories taking place around the holidays about the Assassins Players and their loved ones. It was a great update to the characters’ lives.

It had the feel of a television show the way it jumped from one teammate to the next. Speaking of TV show, wouldn’t it be great if the Assassins Series was turned into a TV show. Maybe the NHL network will pick it up. One could only dream.

I would definitely read the other stories before starting this book. I cannot wait for the next Assassins novel!

This one was fun to read. I liked how each couple got some page time so that we could catch up with them. I loved Audrey and Harper's surprises. I felt bad for Kasey at the end, what should have been a very happy day ended in a sad day. I really hope that with the next book Kasey will get her own HEA.

DNF @ 43%

I can't do it. Mediocre writing, boring stories about babies and pregnancy, and enough misogyny and ableism to make me feel sick... This is super not the book for me.

Here's a rundown of what I did (and didn't) read, in case you're curious why I'm breaking out the one-star rating for this one instead of leaving it unrated.

And now you know why I'm so agitated, why I hate it so much, and why I didn't finish this book.

Frankly, I don't see myself reading anything from this series - probably even this author - again, considering this is how several characters from several of the novels are portrayed. Very much not to my interests.

This book covered the couple's from all previous books in the series (with even a brief mention of Jordan from Falling for the Backup, book 3.5 in the series) during the Christmas / New Year season. It also covered individuals who haven't yet had books of their own, Claire (Boarded by Love) and Kasey (Overtime). The book starts with Fallon and Lucas from Trying to Score with Christmas a few weeks away. Fallon is almost to term with their fourth child and Aiden is almost a teenager. The story then moves onto Fallon's younger sister Audrey and her husband, Tate, from Empty Net. Audrey (whose first pregnancy was something of a miracle) has been trying to get pregnant for the last four years, thinking she has been letting Tate down (even though Tate continually reassures her that she and their daughter are more than enough for him). The two decide to make a last ditch attempt with in-virto fertilization. After them, the story transitions to Audrey's best friend Piper and Erik from Blue Lines. The two attend Erik's Christmas charity event to give hockey gear to underprivileged kids. Next, Reese and Phillip from Breaking Away are still learning to deal with Claire's engagement (mostly Phillip). Phillip still doesn't like Jude (despite giving the two his blessing) and has maintained an adversarial relationship with him on and off the ice. The story then transitions to Claire, who is featured in book one of the Bellevue Bullies Series, Boarded by Love. While she is thrilled to see her family, she is disappointed she won't be spending Christmas with Jude. Moving onto Elli and Shea from Taking Shots, who now have five children (two girls and three boys), Christmas morning is here and the family is opening presents. We also get to see Elli maneuvering a sporting goods store with the five kids in search of a last minute gift and Quinn's unexpected behavior while there and their Christmas celebration with Elli's family. Next are Elli's best friend, Harper, and Shea's best friend and Harper's husband, Jacob, from Taking Shots. Having had her tubes tied, it is a shock and a Christmas miracle when Harper discovers she's pregnant yet again. The last couple featured is Lacey and Karson from Tangled in the Laces and Laces and Lace. This was their first Christmas together and were blessed to spend it with Lacey's brother Grady and his family, who flew down from Chicago to Nashville, as well as Karson's family. In their part of the story it is New Year's Eve and they are off to a party being thrown by Fallon and Rocky Top Wine for the Assassins. It's there that they hear that Kacey made the US women's hockey team and Lacey shares her own surprise with Karson. Lastly is Kacey, who will be featured in Overtime. The story picks up at her phone call with Lacey and Karson and finds her with in bed with Jordie, Karson's best friend. Kasey has fallen in love with him, but knows he doesn't want a relationship, and therefore feels that she needs to break off their sexual relationship to protect her own heart. From Jordie's perspective, letting her go may or may not be the biggest mistake of his life.

I really enjoyed this book and found it well written. Considering the length of the book and the brevity of each of the sections, that's not typically the case. Aleo managed to transition from couple to couple with great ease. The progression of the book made perfect sense. It read as one story instead of a bunch of little ones put together. Overall, a really enjoyable book, but I wouldn't recommend reading it without having read the previous books in the series. This is a continuation of each couple's HEA. The only one that doesn't end happily is Casey's, but that will surely be resolved in the next book in the series, Overtime.

I LOVE HOCKEY HUSBANDS

I’m so god damn happy reading this. My heart is literally bursting from joy. Not only is it perfect that I get all the main men and their post novel stories, but it’s Christmas themed.

Lucas and Fallon has me smiling from ear to ear. I love Lucas Brooks dearly. I forgot how much until I read this. His quick comments to Fallon and constant flirting is fun. As a perfect husband would, he cherishes her. I’m going to reread his book because I miss his determination and confidence. Love them.

I love me some Tate Ooooder. The sweetest player for the Assassin’s I’m sure of it. His love with Audrey was one of my favorites. Their love was one of the best because it came to two people who needed it the most. My heart simply swells with the holiday joy they’ve been given. Tate Ooooder has a special place in my heart.

My two favorite twins: Piper and Reese. They are so fun and ridiculous and I’m glad we get to see more of their future. It brings me a lot of joy to see Piper and Erik happy with kids. And then Reese and Philip holding on strong with their marriage and with Claire is great. It also brings a huge smile on my face that Philip still can’t stand Jude. The cocky kid isn’t giving him a break either which makes him the perfect man for Claire.

The man, the legend, my book character lookalike to Kris Letang, Mr. Shea Adler. God, I love him so damn much. He’s so dreamy I can’t believe in a short amount of pages I still feel this way. There isn’t enough words to describe how invested I am with him and Elli. I love how crazy their kids are and how it brings them all the happiness in the world. The Adler’s are literally their own hockey team with those five kids I love it!

Karson, Lacey, and Kacey have shorter parts but it’s still sweet none the less. I’m happy that Karson and Lacey are getting their happily ever after because they really deserve it. I’m also loving the sneak peak to Kacey’s future book.

Hockey husbands and holidays are the perfect match for a story. I love romance and just pure joy and that’s what this book is. It reminds us that our favorite characters are happy and loving their lives. My poor heart can barely take this. I’m swooning.

I love this series and this is a cute diversion - a collection of short stories involving the characters from the first 6 novels set at Christmastime. It is a great idea to revisit these couples and catch up with them. I'm just wondering why everyone's HEA involves babies - having babies or getting pregnant. I think only Elli and Shea's story (for obvious reasons) and Kacey's story were not wrapped up in pregnancy. The final story was Kacey's and I am gleefully looking forward to the next novel as hers. She's a kick-ass character and I really want to see how Aleo handles the action between her and Jordie. This did not take long to finish and it was cute but somehow I think I expected more variety in the storylines. Still, a nice addition to the series.

BTW, finished this the morning before I went into Nashville to watch the Nashville Predators play GAME 4 of the STANLEY CUP FINALS!!!! WON 4-1 vs the Pens!!! Love Smashville and the Preds - the basis for this series. We want the CUP!

This is wonderful collection of stories about Assassin series couples. I wish every book could have an epilogue as sweet and sexy as these stories . One of things I love most about Toni's books is there are so character driven. I loved catching up with all my favorite characters. The story that touched me the most was Audrey and Tate. This was such emotional and tear at your heart strings story. Tate just wants Audrey to be happy and he will do anything to get here there. Audrey feels like she is disappointment to Tate. But Audrey is Tate's everything. These stories read like Hallmark Christmas movies. I love Assassin series and this collection of Christmas stories. I would recommend this series for any sports romance lover.

Recommend reading only if on KU - read on KU

The biggest thing this book does is tell you who is pregnant. You see glimpses of the older characters with their families. That's actually kind of boring. I had to skim. We spend a little time with the couples from the first two books in the series. I enjoyed that part most. Kacey gets the most time with 3 or 4 chapters. I found those to be pretty boring, too.

I'm going to share my highlights on Goodreads of who is pregnant if you want to know but not enough to read the novella. I wouldn't normally give such spoilers but it kind of irritates me when authors throw novellas in the middle of a series and number them as a full installment in the series. This really should have been 2.5 and not book 3 in the series.

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE YET!!! I loved SO Much how we got to see how each couple celebrated Christmas and see how and who they are now! It was so amazing to be able to really know what was going on. We always see glimpses of the other couples, but I really liked how we got to see it from their point of view. It really made me want to go back and re-read Shea and Ellie's story. I can't wait to see what comes next!
