“Welcome to immortality in utopia!”

From the moment Damien signed up for a perfect life with ReGen Inc., he didn’t ask any questions. He didn’t want or need to know. But after he’s rebooted this time, there are gaps in his memory he can’t ignore, and people he no longer recognizes are accusing him of betrayal. When someone dies, he’s determined to go looking for answers…but

I received an ARC of Reboot from the author. This book is due out on the 31st March 2014 in e-book format.

In Reboot we meet Damien, a man who has been cloned thirteen times. We don’t learn much about his past, what kind of man he is, or how it came to be that he is one of the few who live in the utopia created by ReGen Inc. – apart from the fact that he paid a lot of money for the privilege. Our acquaintance begins as he comes ‘alive’ in his thirteenth ‘incarnation’. That something is wrong is c

Holy flippin’ twist, Batman! Though short, this story won’t leave you feeling unsatisfied. It’s an excellent science fiction story written in a strong character voice, with enough mystery to keep you reading and a twist that makes you go Oh! The world building is what I have come to expect from Pippa Jay’s work – decadently rich for the senses without being overwhelming or bogging down the actual story and pace. I absolutely recommend this read for all science fiction fans – you won’t be disappo ...more

What an engaging short-story! I don't want to spoil it, but this is a true dystopia, and made me question my notions of utopia, memory and identity. What do we really want out of immortality? What moral duty do we owe our clones? Pippa Jay has written a concise examination of these weighty issues without being at all heavy-handed.

I absolutely loved this short and will be taking a look at everything else Pippa Jay has written.

Well written short story. Straight sci fi. Not a romance.

After spending twelve years working as an Analytical Chemist in a Metals and Minerals laboratory, Pippa Jay is now a stay-at-home mum who writes scifi and supernatural stories to engage the emotions. Somewhere along the way a touch of romance crept into her work and refused to leave. In between torturing her plethora of characters, she spends the odd free moment looking after her chickens, creatin ...more
