Leaving Dead and Buryd behind, Georgianna has been buryd for her participation of enabling two Adveni slaves to escape. Not only this but she's under the impression she was let down by those who she believed to be her friends and left to fester without news from the outside world.

Georgianna learns that life inside Lindbury are hard, you live or you die simple as the brutal reality of prison life and its hierarchy is more than she could have ever imagined- as much as the hold the Adv

Firstly I need to say that I feel very lucky and privileged to have been able to read a pre-release copy of this sequel to Dead and Buryd. I have been waiting with baited breath for it to be released since I finished the first book in the Out of Orbit series and I was not disappointed. Action from the outset and straight back into Georgianna's story. I felt frustrated along with Georgianna as answers were not given straight away but when they were I certainly wasn't disappointed. My only regret ...more

I honestly didn't like this book as much as the first instalment. The idea of Georgiana being sold into slavery seemed like a good idea at the end of the first book, but stretching it out across this book felt a little laboured. There are some good set pieces and some nice characterization, but whatever happens in the third book could most likely have easily been incorporated into this.

Some interesting characters.
In this one, Georgianna has been buryd for doing something she felt was right. Now she feels alone and let down by those she felt were friends. Her life is hard now and as you read you will see that Georgianna may just give up. The book also introduces some interesting characters. When she becomes a Drysta things again change and two characters from her past are back in her life. Cannot wait to read the next book I am intrigued by the characters and story. I did rece

Very good story with many interesting characters. A people from another planet landed many years back on this community and brought only trouble and heartbreak as they strode over all they felt were beneath them. An underground two-way group are trying to fight them. Very intense, intriguing tale!!

My oh my, how easily one's life can change. For Georgianna, her own life has taken a harsh turn. I admire her character tremendously and I know she will rise above these tragic times. I am loving where the story is headed and I am so excited to read the next book. Excellent storytelling!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fight or Flight continues directly from the first book, Dead and Buryd. Without the need to establish the world, we are get much more story and action. Yet although there are some interesting (and some sadly expected) plot twists, inconsistency of characterizations and dystopian cliche traps began to frustrate and this fell into the sophomore slump category. I'll still purchase/read the third book, however, if only to see where the author goes with the

In the aftermath of Dead and Buryd, one of Georgianna’s greatest fears has come to pass - she’s been buryd for her involvement in the escape of two Adveni slaves. Incarcerated in the Lindbury compound, she’s tormented with the possibility that she could have been set up, betrayed by her friends and left to rot, when weeks and months pass without word from outside.

It’s a dog-eat-dog world inside Lindbury, and Gianna quickly learns that the prison hierarchy is as brutal and oppressive

You know when you have found a fantastic new author to follow when you can’t wait to get your hands on anything written by said author! Honestly, I was surprised at how quickly I feel into Chele Cooke’s world of the Out of Orbit Series. Fight or Flight, book two adds a new dimension to this series, as the pace ratchets up and stakes get higher. Georgianna is still the main focus, once a medic, now a slave, with the heart of a rebel with a cause, her metamorphosis is painful to watch as fear and insecur ...more

After such a dramatic end to the first book I just had to keep reading this series. I spent most of the prologue trying to work out who was talking but the convocation was useful reminder of the situation that the first book left us in (as if you could forget). The first few chapters explored one of my favourite situations to read about – a female imprisoned – I always find it intriguing to see how they cope with the brutality of prison and often –as

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First off, I loved this book. It got right into some action and I was pulled along immediately. The first book in the series, Dead and Buryd, sets the tone more and is slower in places because of it, but the author gives us some of that all important action in the last portion of that book. There was a character in Dead and Buryd that I wanted to see more of and that was Edtroka, the Adveni guard. When I picked up Fight or Fli

After reading Dead and Buryd I was looking forward to reading Fight or Flight but wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it as much.........I was not disappointed - I was gripped from page one. I may as well have had glue on my fingers as this was such a difficult book to put down, Cooke keeps you guessing through every scenario she leads you through, and keeps your thoughts on characters changings constantly.

She keeps the descriptions explaining times from D&B to the point, which is p

I think the writing has greatly improved from the first book to the second one, which was almost a surprise since I didn't have anything to reproach to the first one!
As most of the world building had (brilliantly) been done in the first book, the second one has absolutely no "slow moments". The plot is not predictable though responds to what you would hope to read in a sci-fi/dystopian book.
But more importantly, I'm a big fan of the characters. Each have their own singularities and t

This is developing nicely into a series well worth following. This second book picks up the pace and pulls you into the action quicker than the first and the stakes increase as Georgianna lands up in between opposing factions and with hard decisions to make that see her grow as a character but certainly make mistakes along the way. Nice pay off from the first book by developing one of the more interesting secondary characters in a very pleasing direction that felt completely right. Plus a great ...more

I was lucky enough to get to read Fight or Flight before it had even made it's way to the editors and was delighted to find it a thrilling book that kept me gripped from start to finish. Chele Cooke has created a vividly realised world, detailed and original, and full of memorable characters. Funny, moving, intense and intelligent throughout, the book builds on the excellent foundations already laid out with Dead and Buryd. And although I read the book less than two months ago, I already can't w ...more

This second book in the Out Of Orbit series is a much pacier affair than the first - it reads reader expectations well by focusing in on Edtroka, probably the most intriguing character from Dead And Buryd. Successfully resolves the cliffhanger from last time without feeling cheap and pays that off into new and interesting adventures.

The quicker rush of events made me much more invested in the story, and I'm definitely onboard for book 3. There were a few moments when I struggled to r

I think I enjoyed this second book even more than the first. The relationships, the characters, the story line.... None of them were disappointing. Now I just have to sit on my hands and wait for the third book.

I'm an independent Sci-Fi/Fantasy author based in London, UK.

My novel length fictions are Sci-Fi and Fantasy, but I also have a collection of short stories of multiple genres available for free via my website CheleCooke.com

As a reader, I'm rather eclectic. The Harry Potter series was a big influence in my desire to become a writer, and I regularly stay up all night reading books I love.

Other books in the series

Out of Orbit (3 books)
  • Dead and Buryd (Out of Orbit, #1)
  • Rack and Ruin (Out of Orbit, #3)
