"The Branches of Time" by Luca Rossi was a wonderful surprise for me. Reluctant to follow the author from his amazing and inventive science fiction works to more traditional fantasy fare I found myself unexpectedly immersed in his beautiful and mysterious world creations of Turios and Isk.
Rossi once again comes up trump with his signature style full of effortless elegance and poetic esprit.
Whether dark, light-hearted, sexy, mystic or magical, the writing flows easily and takes you smoothly

Undoubtedly, the plot of this book is something to look forward to. It is multidimensional, dynamic with lots of flashbacks, and yet quite systematic and easy to follow through with excitement, anticipation and deep understanding of the human soul, desires and aspirations.
More specifically, the skill of portraying a whole world or a universe predominantly via the lives of only 3 people, that is, a tiny community and its unusual interactions with the outside world, seemed astounding

Imagine it is the end of your world and you are left to fend for yourself with only your wife and a high priestess. Branches of Time is a most unique story of magic, love, lust, greed and friendship. Talented author Lucca Rossi spins this tale of those left behind in a world so far away and yet so close. These three souls try to find the meaning of what happened on that fateful day when evil arrived and destroyed their land and all their people. How and what they will evolve into will shock you. ...more

What was supposed to be a joyous occasion turns into a horrific day when an entire island is killed save for three survivors.

From the very first scene I was hit with the intensity of this world--grisly deaths tend to do that, you know?
The mystery of the magic kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what was the reason for this atrocity. Was vengeance really worth all theses lives? There were plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing and anxious to find out the truth.

This is the second book that I read by Luca Rossi and I loved it just as much as I did Galactic Energies. The author is very talented and the story quite great. Luca is a master in providing twists and turns in his books that keep you glued to the pages.

This book starts at a wonderful wedding that was taking place on the island of Turios. Next thing you know a huge catastrophic and devastating disaster destroys the place and kills the people on the island but for a priestess Miril, Bashinoir

The Branches of Time
Luca Rossi

The intense action on page one drew me in and the wonderful characters wouldn’t let me go. The Branches of Time is a roller-coaster of a ride.

The use of magic sets off a series of events that no one could have predicted. Do you believe in time travel? If you don’t before you begin reading The Branches of Time, you will afterwards.

Mr. Rossi does a wonderful job of creating a new world and its people. Not every author is talented enough to

During my misspent youth (when the Earth was young), I used to read a lot of fantasy novels. My hero of the sword/pen was Michael Moorcock, who with a few well-structured, poetic sentences could create new worlds and fire up the imagination of his loyal fans. This was in stark contrast to the 'epic' works of a certain J.R. Tolkein, whose plodding, endless descriptions almost put me off the genre permanently.

Recently, I have gone back to reading dystopian and fantasy tales in the hope of

The Power of a New Umberto Eco of Adult Fantasy and Science Fiction

Rarely since reading Ursula K. Leguin in my adolescence, has a writer created such a believable new world for me. Were the story longer I might be tempted to compare Rossi’s world building to that of Umberto Eco’s “In the Name of a Rose”.
Great writing communicates realistic mood and the flow of the prose cements the characters to their place in the world the author builds. Luca Rossi’s haunting new book, “The Branches of Time”,

The Branches of Time hooked me with its unique plot and many unexpected twists and turns. The story begins with a wedding on the island of Turios. Suddenly, a shower of lethal splinters turns the peaceful scene into chaos. Only three people survive. Even the bodies disappear. What caused this catastrophe? A meteorite? Aliens? Or some higher force? The combination of time-twisting fantasy, scifi, and erotica provides a page-turning read. Rossi's writing reminds me of Philip K. Dick, one of my ...more

Those familiar with Luca Rossi’s previous book, the collection of short stories ‘Galactic Energies’, will not be disappointed with this, his first full-length novel. ‘The Branches of Time’ takes the reader on an intricate journey using Rossi’s genre-busting mix of fantasy, science fiction and erotic overtones in a tale that will entertain as it challenges our perception of time. The premise is original and is handled with mastery: the effect on a small isolated group of people of changes made to ...more

A fascinating, fast-paced, and well-written tale seasoned with hot erotic scenes!

“The Branches of Time” is a masterful blend of adult fantasy and science fiction. It has a very intriguing and original plot with lots of unpredictable twists and turns, as well as captivating characters. Before I knew it, I was drawn into this new world the author created, full of wizards, priestesses, time-travel, and magic…

This is the first novel in this genre that literally kept me glued to the pages and is

This is a fascinating story, original and gripping, full of incident and unexpected shifts and twists. The stunning beginning of the story takes place on the island of Turios where the inhabitants are attending a wedding. The tranquil scene is devastated by a catastrophe from the heavens, a shower of lethal shards of piercing stones which wipes out the inhabitants, save for Miril, the priestess, and husband and wife, Bashinoir and Lil. Then the mass of cadavers spread out around the temple begin ...more

Never one for stories set in distance lands or paranormal/fantasy time travel, imagine my surprise when I started reading the first couple of pages of Luca Rossi’s “THE BRANCHES OF TIME” and got hooked.

Filled with vivid descriptions, rivalries, black magic, astral projections, sacrifice, pure evil, duplicity, time travel lessons, mindreading, and sex, this book kept me turning one page after another. The more I read, the more I felt the characters were archetypal––the Evil

Although I'm not a huge fantasy fan (sci-fi being more my thing) I thought I would give this a try as I enjoyed Luca's previous book, Galactic energies. It took a little while to hook me in and get to grip with the characters, but once I had, I couldn't put it down. The writing is first rate, the scene descriptions are highly evocative and descriptive (without being over wordy), and the characters are intriguing and three dimensional. It has shades of 'Game of Thrones' in its adult content, ...more

I think I can safely say this is a novel quite unlike anything else I have ever read. A mixture of sci-fi, fantasy, and erotica set around a catastrophic incident that opens the story and the resulting mystery. Rossi throws in a series of twists and turns and pushes the limits as the sci-fi genre allows you to. I have no doubt this book is going to be a major success in time, and the author with it.

I do enjoy my sci-fi and especially when it comes to time travelling and Luca Rossi's The Branches of Time is just my cup of tea. It's highly-developed with good pacing and many twists - some elements remind me of the Greek Mythologies too. There's also an ample amount of naughtiness. Looking forward to his other books.

On a faraway island in a different time, all the inhabitants have gathered for a wedding – but a lethal rain of shards kills them all, except for a young couple whom the priestess takes to the temple for shelter. She knows what happened and why, but she hardly dares to tell Lil and Bashinoir anything about it; it has got to do with a kingdom across the sea, an ancient curse and a barrier that keeps the inhabitants of the kingdom from travelling unless all the people on the little island of ...more

It's an okay book, but it has problems.
1. Too many characters have similar sounding names, Miril, Lil, Turil. Even the king and the last surviving male on the island have similar names.
2. The book ends before the story does. Only then do you see that this story is part of a series, and you have to get book 2 to read the rest of the story. If you a write a series, make sure it is advertised as a series and the cover says it is a series, as well as the book's Amazon page. Don't make the reader

Turios, a beautiful island is shattered when shards fall from the sky. Wow, that got me interested right from the very beginning. I loved this book for so many reasons. First of all, the time travel and characters met was inspired storytelling. The writing was skilful, never losing the plot, literally. I loved the sorcerers, high priestess and way in which the story just weaved all these brilliant protagonists together.

I believe there is a follow up to this story. I certainly hope so. Sex, time

I have to say, Luca Rossi has done it again. The Branches of Time is a whirlwind, literally, of horror, fantasy, and science fiction. From the first bloody scene of what is supposed to be a beautiful wedding to the twists and turns that send you off a cliff at the end, this book is not for the faint of heart.
Beautiful yet gruesome imagery, heat, and flights of fancy, this book will be one you will never forget.

The Branches of Time by Luca Rossi is a fantasy fiction novel that moves quickly keeping you on the edge of your seat. From the beginning, a gripping series of events that seem impossible occur but you become so curious about how the characters will make it, you can’t put it down. Fantasy novels occupy a very small part of my favorite genres list. I enjoy reading a good one every once in a while and I'm a loyal reader of "Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine." So, I looked forward to Luca Rossi's fantasy novel, to strong fantasy world-building, interesting characters with intriguing development, and an action-packed plot.

The first page grabbed me and promised a fulfillment of all my expectations. The first chapter raised more questions than it answered, urging me to read

The author, Luca Rossi, has become a major hit with readers of all shapes and sizes. Some of these are delving into a genre way outside their usual fare, including me. So, what has attracted them to The Branches of Time?

The novel is set within the complicated elements of time travel and slips. It is a fantasy world caught up in the grips of black magic, love and war; a book that you can safely lose yourself in as soon as you 'turn over' the first page.

The points that stick out for me are:

The Branches of Time, a fantasy novel by Luca Rossi, is the first book of a series. It is not, and is not intended to be, a stand-alone novel. It takes place in a world very different than ours, one in which magic works. It is not a light-hearted book, starting with the brutal magical massacre of all but three of the people living on an island. While not always as graphically described, the level of violence isn’t reduced as The Branches of Time continues.

I was given a copy by the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

The Branches of Time ultimately didn’t work for me. I loved the idea behind it, the intrigue and mystery and I love books that screw around with time. There are some good moments in the book, plenty of tension, drama and intrigue that kept me guessing. However, there are so many elements that left me cold. There is very little world building in the novel and the descriptions of the island and the world the characters inhabit are too

In the words of Billy Idol, “It’s a nice day to start again. It’s a nice day for a white wedding.” Beautiful snow. Crisp hope. New beginnings. Innocent love. All to be obliterated by rocks falling from heaven, and all that white now crimson.

Three lives are shattered. Sanctuary obliterated. Questions unanswered. The enemy remains unseen, a shadow of doubt, and the dead disappear under a veil of mystery. Dark magic is at hand.

Betrayal begins to twist and burn. Love’s loss now becomes Love’s lust.

Author Luca Rossi has masterfully combined great storytelling with universal themes. The Branches of Time was a mind-bending, shape shifting story, a mix of science fiction and fantasy, even erotica. The story spanned thousands of year, had magic and wizards, ancient kingdoms, evil and pathos, fantastical spells and time travel. Yet the human emotions and psychological drama was what anchored the story and made it a fantastic read.

The story began with a cataclysmic event on the island of Turios
