Florida Keys Adventure #22

Hostage in the Keys

Rate this book
On a seemingly normal morning in Key West, Logan Dodge finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. An innocent passerby, the former Navy SEAL witnesses a young man being abducted and is taken at gunpoint as well. Before he knows what’s happening or why, Logan is blindfolded and imprisoned aboard an offshore yacht.

While being held hostage, Logan learns that the young man he’s chained alongside is far more influential and valuable in the global political arena than he could’ve possibly imagined. With staggering ransoms demanded and vicious threats made, the chances of survival seem dire.

But there are some men you don’t cross. Some warriors who can’t be caged. Outnumbered, outgunned, and alone, Logan must find a way to escape and rain poetic justice upon his enemies like never before.

It’s kill or be killed. And Logan Dodge is about to break loose.

Amazing

This is the third (4th?) time I've read Rief's Logan Dodge series. Somehow, I fell two books behind, and since today was Thanksgiving, I had to read both in one day. It's a hard life I lead. I recently gave up cooking on Thanksgiving. It's hard for me to make large meals anymore, and since my kids are grown and married, it gives them a chance to spend time with their opposite's families. What I do is invite whomever wants to join me at a local buffet we all love on Friday, and I get to give thanks for so much then. So, as I write this, I'm listening to Jesse Rice, an artist Rief wrote into this story. Give him a listen, but start the series from the beginning. Even though each book can be read as a stand- alone novel, Rief continues to grow his characters throughout the series. I guarantee you that you won't have a bad read from any of the stories, but you will have more to be thankful for if you start from the beginning.

Another formulaic Logan Dodge adventure. This time, he's kidnapped with another person while jogging in the keys. The other jogger turns out to be the son of the President of Bolivia. Why he is in the States, much less the keys isn't fully explained but the kidnappers were hired by an enemy of his father's.

The storyline follows Logan in his escape, their rescue and the second attempt on both Logan and the young jogger. The only parts of his books that seem extremely far-fetched is Logan's daughter Scarlet constantly "helping" any was she can- it's just odd for a teenager.

As usual, Matt Rief writes a good, if somewhat predictable story that will hold your attention. His fictional characters residing in the Florida keys is very reminiscent of the old Travis McGee series. Perhaps not as gritty or overtly sexual as the Travis McGee, still, well written and interesting to me. I will continue to read these novels. I gave it 4 stars due to it's predictability. Better than the standard airport reading material.

Mr. Rief pens a great adventure

Logan gets taken on a ride that looks like a kidnapping. The bad are sloppy and Logan escaped with the victim! However, Ange and crew rescue Logan and the victim and get them back to Key West. Then things change and Logan and Ange adapt and survive and clean up the mess! A good story with many twists and turns !

Excellent!

This is my first time reading this author but it definitely won’t be my last. Since I lived in the Keys for several years I always enjoyed anything set in the Keys. I definitely recommend this book and the author! Now I have to go to the first book and catch up!

Keys Hostage

Another really good book. There are moments in the read that you know something exciting\dangerous is going to happen. But there are multiple scenarios that could happen. This one definitely kept me guessing.

Another Logan Dodge Adventure

I enjoyed this book, along with the others, since so much of the narrative by Matthew Died is familiar. I'm impressed by his knowledge of the Navy SEALs, armament and boats and that makes his stories more believable.

Shucks, m’am, t’wernt nuthin’

So many twists after the fact. This dynamic family never falters, nor do their friends. The bad guys get their just desserts, and, in the final scenes, the heroic family has ice cream!

A classic Logan Dodge page burner

Action packed plot flow. Great character development of all key players. The author cheated a bit in getting Logan captured because normally he would not allow this to happen. Keep them coming.

I really like this series, however it started to be a bit predictable.
But with this book, the author broke to format just enough to make it much more interesting. Good job!
