Victorian Era England...
As far as rash decisions go, it was formidable. But Lady Jocelyn Rathbourne's will remains strong. 2.5 Stars – I’m Left Feeling Unsatisfied

Lady Jocelyn Rathbourne is desperate, her father is impoverished and in danger of losing the family estate on top of which she has siblings with no decent future in sight unless she can do something to change their circumstances. The lady decides to hold a gun to the head of Sebastian, the Duke of Calydon, demanding satisfaction for what she states the Duke’s younger brother did. The Duke finds himself surprised and somewhat amused by the bold beauty that

A lovely, enjoyable read, The Duke's Shotgun Wedding was a wonderful historical romance novella. I really liked this short and sweet read.

Both characters were good, though I had a small issue with each. Jocelyn was strong and determined to ensure her family's future. However, she was also mindblowingly impulsive, in a way that was just bewildering and somewhat selfish in the way that she didn't consider the consequences. Sebastian was sweet and honorable to a fault, but he could also be a real a

“You came into my life and completely turned it upside down, when all I wanted was a biddable wife to give me an heir.”

I've read The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell by Stacy Reid and it really fascinated me in a heartbeat so I didn't hesitate to grab The Duke's Shotgun Wedding and have it a go. And again, Stacy Reid did not fail. I absolutely love this novella!

It's fast-paced and really compelling. I love how the main characters interact especially how their connection became deeper every second.

ARC provided by author in exchange for a honest review.

This novella was absolutely fantastic and so refreshing. I loved the heroine and hero and the progression of their story. The heroine was no weak mouse and for that I must absolutely applaud the writer , it is not always the easiest thing to make a heroine likeable and commanding at the same time. Because of the shortness of the novella not all my question were fully answered and everything was done a little too quickly. In essence it was a

A sweet, quick novella.....

We get to see our broody, stoic, Duke fall. Sigh, broody heroes are MY FAVORITE.....lol.

They always fall the hardest and our heroine was adorable and fierce. It’s a quick, fun read.

Recommend.

(audible review) This was a cute story, I enjoyed it. It was short but had a lot of entertainment. It started out great and grabbed my attention very fast. Cant help but love Jocelyn walking into a Duke's house and pointing a derringer at him demanding satisfaction! HAHA

I really liked Jocelyn a lot, she was strong, smart, witty and determined. She wouldn't back down. I liked Sebastian most of the the time, but sometimes he was kind if a jerk. Glad this was a short book I wouldn't have been able

Debut Delight
Stacy Reid’s first published novella “The Duke’s Shotgun Wedding” is a joyful foray into the realms of historical romance, with an impulsive heroine and an impassive but sensuous hero. Jocelyn bounces into Sebastian’s notice with a revolver levelled at him and he readily agrees to marry her. She is a delight that disrupts his life and revels in his nightly love-making as he takes her to unexpected heights of bliss. His attempts to feel nothing more than lust for her are swept away b

An emotional novella about the Duke of Calydon and Lady Rathbourne's fiery meeting and subsequent betrothal. So many steamy moments between the characters that leave you hot under the collar. The growing love for Jocelyn by Sebastian knows no bounds and paves the way in their's and that of family forgiveness, which opens a floodgate of emotions for them both. An enjoyable read.

What a hot and spicy novel! Really, Stacy Reid loves to build up hot scenes.
The beginning of the novel is pretty funny I think - a very unique scene. Read within an afternoon!

4 WICKEDLY ALLURING STARS

I would have loved more of this story. I felt it wasn't enough. I craved the opportunity to delve deeper into the personalities of Sebastian and Jocelyn. It all felt like a tiny morsel that was neither thoroughly satisfying or enjoyable but was quickly snatched away and hidden in some far off dark corner. I simply wanted MORE. MOOOOOOOOORE!!!!

I think because of the length (too short) of the story, the drama kicked in from the instant the first page was turned. There was

A fast-paced read, which grabs you from the beginning! From the moment Lady Jocelyn pointed her derringer at Sebastian—Duke of Calydon, the sparks flew. No simpering lady here (which is refreshing). She is strong-willed and challenges barriers of rank, and defy social prohibitions. Who cares what polite society thinks?! But, little did she know her plan of holding the Duke hostage and forcing an offer of marriage from him as a result of a broken engagement from his brother would backfire, becaus ...more

This is my first Stacy Reid book and i have to say that it was good! Found this one after seeing some of SR's books being reviewed by Lily Maxton in GR. The storyline is not exactly original BUT the way it's presented caught my attention and made me want to read more of her work. The writing is smooth and easy, it doesn't waste too much time on the environment and atmosphere and all the angsty back and forth fickleness of MCs. The story just zoomed in on the situation, the characters and then th ...more

This romance read started with a feisty Jocelyn pointing a derringer on the cold & unfeeling Duke of Calydon, Sebastian. All Sebastian sees is a hellion with an inner fire that gets him hard! She is pissed off because his brother (book #2 in the series), Anthony, teased her with marriage & her dad's estate is falling around her young siblings' ears. Sebastian sees what he wants & totally agrees to marry her. Sebastian believes all females are lairs & unfaithful, courtesy of his m ...more

This wonderful historical romance is the story of Jocelyn and Sebastian. Jocelyn is in desperate straights, needing to find a wealthy husband to help her family and restore their impoverished estate. When a possible suitor withdraws, Jocelyn feels her only choice is to confront his brother and demand satisfaction. Hoping he'll offer her a large amount of money, she threatens marriage to him when the offer isn't big enough - one he coolly accepts for his own reasons. Can a marriage that starts ou ...more

What happens when two unstoppable forces come together?

The marriage of the century that's what. This story is full of intrigue, clashing of the minds, and romance. Navigating the twists and turns was so much fun. There is a lot of emotion packed into this novella that readers will not be able to get enough of.

No wilting flower Jocelyn is one of a kind in an era where women were taught to be obedient. Not only is she willful, stubborn, and with a mouth on her to boot she also knows what she wants

Sweet and hot! Lady Jocelyn has been led on by the Duke of Calydon's brother, Anthony, and she's out for blood...or, more specifically, out for marriage. But when she shows up at the ducal estate, looking for Anthony, she ends up threatening the Duke himself...at gunpoint.

Through an interesting twist of events, Lady Jocelyn finds herself marriage to Calydon rather than Anthony, and the rest of the story focuses on their mar

As far as Novella's go The Duke's Shotgun Wedding was pretty good. I just believe there could have been more to the story. It is enough here to have been a full book instead of a Novella. Every scene moves so fast. I was wishing for more. I guess that is a good thing.

Lady Jocelyn Rathbourne, is holding a gun on the Duke of Calydon. She is accusing his brother Anthony of seducing her an then not marrying her. This is where the story gets unbelievable Sebastian the Duke of Calydon m

This story was a little far fetched but I guess that's why we read fiction. At least that's what I tried to tell myself as I read the book. The beginning is what I had a hard time with. A young lady, daughter of an Earl. Going to a Duke's estate and threatening him with a pistol and lying to him that his brother ruined her to force a marriage and the Duke knowing it's a lie decides he'll marry her himself since his brother already married. Within 24 hours he makes her his Duchess. All this becau ...more

I'll confess--the title of this book put me off at first. Duke and Shotgun are two words I don't normally associate with one another, but in this case, it works. And it works well.

I enjoy the fast pace and short length of a novella, and this one did not disappoint. I was captivated from the first page to the last, eagerly looking forward to each new development as it arose.

I appreciated Jocelyn's fiery temperament and Sebastian's cool demeanor. Like fire and ice, they clashed, and I wanted the

This was an enjoyable read. I liked Lady Jocelyn's character-she's a very direct, honest heroine, who confronts her emotions head on, which is refreshing. She might be a little too impulsive at times, but it keeps things entertaining. The duke is cold and imperious (as any good duke should be!)and determined not to fall in love. Overall, it's a fairly traditional marriage of convenience story line, though the way the marriage starts adds a new and entertaining twist. And did I mention the love s ...more

I will make this short and sweet.... I loved this book! Reminded me of Sally Mackenzie's books. A fun and charming romp. I immediately went to see what else she has written... I was disappointed to find she only has one other book out. I promptly bought it... it ties in to this book... being the Duke's brother's story. Looking forward to another pleasant afternoon reading The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell.

It was a short but bumpy rollercoaster ride with such a feisty and unusual young woman and the man made for her.
Jocelyn is so full of life and fire, ready to take matter in hands even when her so careful planned strategy went awry and she found herself married to a Duke renowned for his coldness and ruthlessness.
Sebastian was quite surprised by the woman barging in his office seeking redress. So when she speaks about marriage, why not this spitfire than a boring young miss from the London ton.

Stacy Reid is off to a great start with her first novella The Duke’s Shotgun Wedding. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

The Duke’s Shotgun Wedding starts out with Jocelyn holding a derringer (not really a shotgun) at the Duke of Calydon and I just new this book was going to be a fun one. Jocelyn thinks she has the upper hand when she came barging into Sebastian’s office and demanding that he marry her, but the Duke of Calydon doesn’t do anything without good reason.
