Lavinia originally grew up in Cheshire and now lives in a small village just outside of Edinburgh with her husband, two children and two fur babies. Writing has always been something that Lavinia has loved since an early age. Over the years Lavinia has faced many obstacles but this has only spurred her on. In 2017 Lavinia was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer. She has chosen to not let this define her, if anything it has given her the drive to do more.
"Erin the Fire Goddess: Changes" by Lavinia Urban is another great instalment in her unique and wonderful fantasy series about Erin the Fire Goddess. The series has its own blend of fantasy elements and supernatural powers (witches, curses and much more) and benefits from a set of well developed characters. Far into the series 'Changes' deals with exactly that - changes - both, internally and externally. Growing up, coming of age, developing powers and changing youself - these themes work well after the author put in the groundwork in her previous books. What goes on between Erin and Sean and their friends is sensitively written, thoughtful and entertaining. With differing viewpoints we get a multitude of perspectives, a technique which the author successfully maximised with "Jo's story", the 3.5 segment of the series. Way beyond a one-hit wonder and with detailed care for all characters this is a great addition to the series. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Wow talk about an emotional rollercoaster. From the very first book I have loved Erin and identified with her in many ways. I liked watching her come out of her shell, making friends and the basic ups and downs of teen-aged life.
My emotions were grabbed from the get go and many of the questions from the last book got answered for me. Tensions within the gang of friends are high. Erin learns more about herself, her heritage, her talent and what some new people expect of her.
I can say I hated the ending because it left me emotionally battered and with too many freaking questions. However, I can say with honesty that despite the emotional journey from start to the finish this was so well worth the journey.
The only question that needs answered at this moment in time is "How long must I wait for Erin's next journey?"
3 Stars Erin’s life has always been hard and things are not going to change anytime soon. With the revelation about Sean and the spell seemingly broken there is a little light in all the confusion. With Dr. Hammersmith so engulfed in anger, Erin and Sean have no option but to flee. With the help from Jo and Kate they escape, though not before they see a familiar face, Helen. As this new information filters through, Erin’s family have a new goal and they need to find Helen and quickly. There is of course other concerns, why is Sean’s power evolving, is the spell really broken and why have the mermaids taken an interest? Over the series the characters have grown and you can see how intertwined everyone’s life has become. Powers are evolving and there are other threats beside Dr. Hammersmith. I did find the constant jumping of the point of view of the characters distracting, it stopped the flow of the work. However the pace was nice, and the story moved along steadily. The whole thing needed a little editing which again stopped the flow, i.e “What? No!” Surprising taking over.’ There was also the odd cliché such as ‘in that moment a light bulb appeared above Jo’s head.’ The book brought some of the storyline together and introduced new ones ending at one huge cliff hanger. For those who have followed the journey so far, once you get passed the jump between the point of view you will enjoy this book. Copy Supplied for review
The title of the book pretty much says it all. Changes. There are some changes that happen within this story and the ending, oh my goodness it is a cliffhanger. As you know Sean was under the spell of Louise, and Dr. Hammersmith or Derek as he is mostly referred to in this story doesn't believe Sean to be free. So of course he doesn't want Erin to leave with Sean but we should all know that isn't going to happen which makes Derek furious, and I honestly didn't even think of the powers that Derek has. Kind of scary. Erin and Sean have their relationship to work on especially because Erin can not get over the fact that Sean and Louise kissed. Sean is determined to fight to keep Erin. Now Sean has changed and it scares those around him. The past comes back to Erin's parents and they will get the answers that have haunted Erin's mother for years. Powers are evolving, relationships will be tested, Erin has more on her shoulders than before, and a loss will happen but to whom?
The author has done a wonderful job with bringing the past to meet the future, some of my questions were answered on who exactly Dr. Hammersmith is. You can feel the emotion rolling off the characters, and the mystery surrounding what exactly is going on, to call in the mermaids. It all went together perfectly. Can't wait to read book 5 to find out if we are going to get the answer to the cliffhanger.
*I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the author for an honest review. Changes is by far my favorite read of Lavinia Urban's books! This is book 4 in the series and it picks up immediately after the previous and from the very first word on the page, it was action packed!! I was unable to put this book down! Poor Sean, you can just feel his anguish over what he has done to Erin, you feel her heart breaking on every word!! Fantastic emotion showed by all characters. I wanted to read so much more about them all!! I was excited to learn more about some of the minor characters as well. I highly suggest this book to everyone!! Totally a 5 star read!
OMG! This series of books just get's better and better. I just wanna say I REALLY hate Linda, Louise and Scott. This was a turbulent instalment of the story of Erin. An as the book finishes it left me with more questions than answers. I am on serious tenterhooks to see what happens next!!! Lavinia has an excellent writing style an always manages to draw you into the book so you feel like you're right there with the characters!!! I read this book in less than 2 hours and totally recommend this to readers :)
Amazing amazing amazing.. I love Lavinia and this series gets better and better. I fell even more in love with the characters and the plot. I had a couple spots I teared up at. I loved all the conflict and the love and everything they went through. I am completely mind blown by how Lavinia works everything out and plots everything. Simply amazing.
This series just gets better and better. The characters have developed more especially the "supporting cast". There is so much more "what the...?" which makes you want to read on, only to be gutted when you reach the end of the book and find a mammoth cliffhanger. Highly recommended for adults and teens alike.
This series does need to be read in order, and could be read by a wide age group. In this next chapter Erin is slowly realizing and thinking about her relationships and also working on her powers. Quite the unique series that contains, witches, mermaids and much more. If you are a fan of paranormal books this is for you. The story leaves us on a sad cliff hanger. Can't wait for the next book!
Wow this series gets better and better. I love the fact we have watched the characters evolve and adapt to their situations. This is absolutely paramount to a series and I think that the author has done this storyline wonderfully. Such attention to detail.
