I really enjoyed this book. It reflects well how things are currently with the Middle East and so on, and the story is a realistic one, it reads just like something that the CIA would actually be involved in at this point, although a big part of this story focuses on internal affairs.

Richard North wants to be the leader of the division, and has been working at it for years, and is not afraid to do something a bit underhanded here and there. So when he is passed over for the promotion, he amps up

I want to send my thanks to Mr. Mitchell R. Stevens and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for my copy of Deliberate Deceit that I won in the Giveaway.

Deliberate Deceit is part mystery, part romance, and part family story all located at the top of the CIA with an egotistical murder planning multiple elaborate plots to start another world war. Richard North has worked for thirty years up the CIA career ladder to be passed over when the director retires and a new person is brought in to the position o

‘North realized time was his enemy.’

After spending years working his way up the CIA’s career ladder, Richard North expects to be nominated as the Agency’s next Director. When the President nominates Louis Pendleton, an outsider, North decides to take revenge any way he can. The true North, a sociopathic narcissist, believes that any means justifies the ends he is seeking. And if his efforts result in misdirection, in placing staff in danger, in murder and even the threat of World War III, so be

Book Readers Review
Truth or Fiction? What if this had happened? Many questions are posed in this debut novel of Mitchell Stevens. The title 'Deliberate Deceit' is the epitome of the book, the climate of the world now, and the global war on terror. The threat of World War 111 is ever present in our lives. Mitchell Stevens, the author, has presented some very plausible events and ideas that leave the reader wandering how much could be based on truth. Intrigue, suspense, treachery, and romance are

I won this book in the Goodreads Giveaway. It took me about 10 pages to get caught up in this novel, but once I did, I had a hard time putting the book down. The ‘What if?’ scenarios seemed plausible, and I really wanted to see if (and how) Richard North could be thwarted. One thing that makes this book different from other thrillers is that you know exactly who the bad guy is from almost the beginning, but that is appropriate for this story, so it was still very fun to read about North's pettin ...more

I want to thank my daughter for sharing Deliberate Deceit with me. She won it on Goodreads First Reads Giveaway, so I send my thanks to author, Mitchell R. Stevens and the Goodreads Giveaway too.

I love a good mystery and Deliberate Deceit is a great mystery and political thriller at the same time. What makes it so good is the entire time I was reading the book, I kept wondering if there was any truth in the story. This will be a book I remember for a while and I think that is a sign of a great b

Who doesn't love a good spy mystery. This is one of the better books I have read in a long time. It is full of good guys, a nasty villain, deceit, and good ole fashion espionage. Mitchell Stevens wrote a marvelous book that hooked me from the very beginning. I could not put the book down it was so good. I am a huge fan and can not wait until the next book comes along. This is a must read book. I give it 5 stars. ...more

I found the story tight, suspenseful and well organized. The characters are believable and the bad guy brilliant and deliciously nuts. The one flaw was the jumping story line was a little too abrupt in creating the pacing; this was something I had to adjust to. This was a Goodreads first reads win for me. I look forward to the next book in the series.

It took me a bit longer than my usual read time with this book. It is full of factual information and details which make this book so realistic. I couldn't put it down once I got to the last 150 pages. I love how this book contains a mix of everything from escort services, Armageddon, & even scripture from the Bible. I am looking forward to Deadly Deceit! ...more

Well written with an intriguing plot and subplot. The addition of world events makes the story line very conceivable. Looking forward to more from Stevens.
